Hi everyone!
My name is Azzam, and
today I'm gonna teach you guys how to truckstand.
And truckstands look like this.
So, what truckstand is
from the name, it's like
basically you're standing on the trucks of the skateboard when it's upside down.
That's why it's called truckstand, you stand on the truck.
'Truck' and 'stand' = truckstand.
So I'm gonna teach you guys how to do it.
Alright, so I have this Penny skateboard, it's my brother's
I'll demonstrate the movements with my hands
so it makes it easier for me to explain.
But you'll see how to do it proper from the clips I'll show you later on.
First, you put your front foot near the front truck
at the back of the front truck.
And then, as you push forward,
you slide your back foot up
so that the board becomes like this.
As it falls down,
you stop it with the *back* foot (sorry i said wrong lol)
and the other foot you step on the truck, like so.
So basically that's the idea.
That's the basic principle of a truckstand.
But, as with other skateboarding tricks, it's not that simple
they have their own how-to-learns, complications, that sort of stuff.
I'll teach you step-by-step on how to do it.
Step One is
you do a handed truckstand.
Which means we hold the board with our hands during the trick.
So instead of doing the whole thing with your legs only,
You start in tailstop position, put the front foot behind the front truck
you push the board up,
as your front leg steps on the back truck,
you hold the nose of the board with your hands.
It's a little bit easier, because you're using your hands.
You won't hurt your leg.
That's the general idea of a truckstand.
This first step, for sure you can learn in like, 10 minutes.
It's pretty straightforward.
Step Two, is
to actually try to do the whole truckstand motion.
Starting from tailstop, front foot under the board, behind the front truck,
then you push it up
do the truckstand steps
back foot slide all the way up to the nose
then you can just bring it down.
Just to get the gist of it.
Like, the motion of the truckstand.
Just to familiarize yourself with the truckstand. Start slow.
This trick, when you first starting out, your feet will get hurt.
That's normal.
Skateboarding.
Of course there's gonna be pain. If you're not feeling the pain then it's not skateboarding.
Step Three is to actually
continue the Step Two exercise, or whatever you wanna call it
but this time try to hold the board, intstead of letting it fall all the way like in Step Two.
You actually holding it with your leg from letting the board fall all over.
Let me back up a bit, this is too near.
So you pull it up,
and put your front foot on the truck,
and if in Step Two you just let it fall over,
this time try to hold it.
Hold it for as long as you can.
Don't have to land it, just hold for 2 or 3 seconds and then just bail out.
To actually build some balance for the truckstand.
3 seconds doesn't sound like a lot
but when you're doing this trick, 3 seconds is like a lifetime.
And lastly, Step Four is
the landing.
So you already learned how to stand on the truck when the board is upside down
The next thing to do is do a half-flip.
Flip it half so that the board lands back regularly, wheels down.
I think this is the hardest part of the trick.
To actually half-flipping it out of truckstand.
So just focusing on learning how to half-flip it out
assuming you are good with the previous steps
use your hands, just put the board like this on the ground
and then just step on the truck, with the truckstand position
don't have to do the pulling with your leg
just practice half-flipping from that position.
So how do you half-flip it?
In order to do that, the foot that is on the truck
is the one that initiates the flipping motion.
So you flick it like this and flip it half.
What the other leg does, the hanging one
temporarily, you give it room for it to half-flip
so you let go of your board just a bit, not too much
if it's too much, your foot will fall first
just enough room for the board to flip half.
Hopefully, your foot, after you flip it,
just let it hang in the air for a short while, and after the board flips
and then you land both feet, on bolts.
Because the best kind of landing is on bolts, no?
That's how you do a truckstand
I know it's pretty complicated,
when I'm trying to explain it in my room here in front of the camera
holding this cheap plastic China-knockoff Penny board
Like, it's hard to explain, but
I think all skateboarding tricks are kinda hard to explain
You actually have to try to do it.
And when you make mistakes along the way, that's how you learn, learn from mistakes.
Same goes for any trick, really.
When you first starting out, your feet will get hurt
just a bit, especially the upper part of your feet
because usually in skateboarding, most tricks use the sole of the shoe
but this time, part of the shoe that is in contact with the board
is the upper part of your shoe, shoe laces and all.
So it's not a normal thing to do.
But it's skateboarding.
Nothing is normal in them.
Your feet will get hurt, most probably your shins as well.
If you feel like wearing a pair of shinguards, go ahead
if that's your preference.
Anyway, feel free to do this trick
