YouTube Live Events Tutorial - Duration: 4:27.
If you do live streaming on YouTube you have two options to choose from.
Stream now and events.
Live events have several advantages.
Your scheduled stream will appear on your channel page which will attract more attention.
People who are interested can then set a reminder.
And, most importantly, you have a unique stream link which you can share on social media to
create buzz.
Let's get started with setting up a live event.
In the Creator Studio we go to "Live Streaming" then "Events" and click "Schedule a New Event".
Now you can enter metadata like you do for all of your videos.
What is special here is that you need to enter a scheduled start date for your stream.
By the way, you can always reschedule your event later on.
Alright, let's add a description and some tags.
Then you should set it to public right away.
This is important if you want to show the event on your channel page.
And finally, you can choose the type.
I use custom so that I can stream with OBS.
In the advanced settings you can defined when to show your event on your channel page.
I prefer one week in advance.
Since most of the new subscribers I'll be getting visit my channel page I hope to catch
more viewers for that stream that way.
Ok.
Other settings worth mentioning is this checkbox.
Keep it unchecked if you want to make the replay available.
Check it if you want to hide the replay.
Then only people who have the link to your stream will be able to watch your replay.
Additionally, you may consider to use low latency.
This way you can interact better with you audience in the chat.
However, this needs a good internet connection.
My trick is to use a network cable.
Not wifi.
That makes a big difference.
Alright, let's create the event.
Next, you can upload a thumbnail.
Do that like you do for all of your videos.
It's important.
Finally, choose what kind of stream key to use.
I didn't try the reusable stream key yet.
The single-use stream key works fine.
Before every stream I just give OBS the new key.
I'll show you in a minute how to do that.
Ok great.
The setup is done.
Now let's go to my channel page to make sure the event shows up there.
For that we need to customize the layout and add a section.
We select "Upcoming Live Streams" here.
This section will then show up if you have scheduled some live events that you chose
to promote on your channel page.
And of course I want this section to be at the top so that my new subscribers get to
see it.
Ok, next up let's go to the live event page.
The live stream will take place here.
And before it has started people can set a reminder.
This is super helpful because if you have an international audience they don't even
have to wonder about timezones.
They see the right start time wherever they are.
Now you are ready to create buzz around your stream.
Just click share and use the link to post on social media or to send an announcement
to your email list.
Remember this link will also allow people to watch the replay if they missed the stream.
This is super useful.
Yes, all done.
Now you may wonder how you can actually stream when the time arrives.
Let me walk you through using OBS.
For testing purposes I set the event to private.
Feel free to do that, too, if you want to do a test run.
Then go to "Ingestion Settings" and grab the stream key.
Go to OBS, open the settings, and in the "Stream" section you can paste the stream key.
Alright, now it's time to start streaming.
Go to the "Live Control Room".
At this point YouTube is not receiving any data.
Just go to OBS and click "Start Streaming".
You can see now that OBS is sending data to YouTube.
In the live control room you can now also see that the stream status is good.
Now click "Preview" to let YouTube prepare your stream.
Then click "Start Streaming" and then you are live!
By the way, at the bottom you find the chat which you can pop out so you can easily follow
the chat while you are streaming.
Ok, once you are done just click "Stop Streaming" on the YouTube page.
And after that stop streaming in OBS.
Alright, that's it.
At this point YouTube is already preparing the replay of your stream.
You don't have to do anything.

WWE News - Triple H Explains Why He Went Over Jinder Mahal In India
WWE executive Triple H ended up getting back into the ring to wrestle former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal during a recent tour of Mahal's native country of India.
It was the first time that WWE held an event in India in two years. And with Mahal having Indian roots, it was special for him.
Mahal ended up losing to Triple H, who's of course a WWE legend. But with the company pushing Mahal over the past year, many people thought Mahal would win in an effort to placate the Indian fans in attendance.
Triple H explained during an interview with NBC Sports that people in India don't just automatically love Mahal because he's Indian. He said that Mahal still has to earn their respect.
"I often think it's funny to me that people in America, who have never been to India, put their thoughts and their beliefs onto other people, 'like clearly that's the truth.' (Laughs). It's totally different there!" Triple H said.
"The way they see things and react to things is very different. There are certain guys that once they reach a level there, it's a whole different ballgame; Undertaker, [John] Cena. It's just a different level of stardom.
"When we were over there a few months ago having business meetings, to hear the people who are running television studios or Internet companies say to me 'I watched you when I was a teenager.
You were like the biggest guy in the world.' I met a massive Bollywood star the other day who told me that I was his entire childhood.
He got suspended from school for telling someone to 'suck it.' At a time in '96 when there were like three channels there, we were on one of them all of the time.
"It's not to say Jinder wasn't 'over' there. He was! You have to understand the market.
It's not like everyone just went, 'Oh my God he's Indian! He looks like us so we love him.' They are a savvy market. They understand that he's [playing] a bad guy [on television].
Even though he got a massive reaction, he still needs to earn their respect. He's still growing and still new. You know what I mean?".
Triple H is confident that Mahal will grow in popularity in India as he continues to prove himself over time.
"Just even being on this tour will help him. The reaction he got at the beginning of the night was much different than the reaction he got at the end of the night.
Their appreciation of him grew. It was all handled in the right way and done in the right manner. Over time he's going to grow and become a cultural icon for them.".
Triple H is right. You have to figure that if Mahal was such a big star in India, they wouldn't have had to cut the tour short due to poor ticket sales.
Mahal came back to WWE in July of 2016 and has already won the WWE Championship one time.
But he still has to prove that he can be a superstar for the next several years before even people in India will buy into him and support him the way they have wrestlers like Triple H.
Mahal will have a chance to continue to build his legacy as a big time wrestler, since he'll et a chance to win the WWE Championship back when he faces off against AJ Styles during this Sunday's Clash of Champions event.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Mahal gets his title back or if WWE wants to have Styles continue as the WWE Champion going forward.
If I had to make a guess, I would say that Mahal will win his title back this weekend.

Saturday Night Live has never shied away from political commentary, but it took on new urgency this year — not just because the current president of the United States,.
Donald Trump, is a former SNL host, but because he also obsessively watched and tweeted about the shows parodies of him. But there was more to 2017 than just Trump, of course.
There was a cultural reckoning with sexual harassment, a very strange Oscar season involving La La Land, and one very ill-considered Pepsi commercial, among other things.
SNL commented on them all, and now EW has rounded up 11 of our favorite sketches from this year. Enjoy!. Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump impression has been an uneven ride during the first year of this new presidency.
The show had clearly been banking on four-to-eight years of deploying Kate McKinnon's Hillary Clinton to parody presidential politics, while Baldwin was a starry cameo for the debate sketches in the home stretch of 2016.
He wasn't built to last, and too often the humor of his cold opens could be reductive or superficial (Putin! Russia! Aaaah! Wash, rinse, repeat). But this sketch actually had a bite:.
Placed in a town hall with his own supporters, Baldwin's Trump failed catastrophically to provide any actual answers to their problems. ne man, for instance, got laid off from a coal-mining plant and wants good jobs for him and his friends.
Trump's solution? "I'm gonna do everything I can to make sure you people work in coal for the rest of your lives." And yet, his supporters still love him.
If only the writer/director of the tone-deaf Kendall Jenner Pepsi commercial had run his concept by a friend or two before they got to shooting it. That's more or less the premise of this sketch.
It's very quickly obvious to the writer (played by Beck Bennett) that his ridiculous notion that sharing a Pepsi can cure hatred and bigoted behavior is not going to fly.
("I stop the police from shooting black people by handing them a Pepsi," says Cecily Strong as Jenner. "I know, it's cute, right?"), only it's too late to stop the shoot.
Its sad for everyone involved in and offended by the ad, but great for the SNL cast who (deservedly) got to rip it to shreds for comic effect. Pepsi, for those who think dumb? —Ruth Kinane. La La Land Interrogation.
Have you ever had a movie take that your friends are outraged by? (I will defend Collateral Beauty until my last dying breath).
Well, at least you were never arrested for it! In this January sketch, Aziz Ansari, who delivered a powerful post-Trump inauguration monologue earlier in the show, had no such luck.
After surveillance of a recent date caught him suggesting that the Oscar-winning nominated La La Land kind of dragged in the middle, hes interrogated by Cecily Strong and Beck Bennetts detectives.
His claims of too many montages and not enough black people ("Last time I checked, John Legend was black, argues Strong), as well as the admission that he fell asleep, only further enrage them.
Thankfully for Ansaris character, the cops get a new perp in the form of Kenan Thompsons Westworld hater. I cant even imagine what theyd do to an anti-Game of Thrones truther. —D.L. Papyrus.
There's one grievous offense within James Cameron's "giant international blockbuster," set to spawn four sequels (and now, apparently, featuring a Disney princess),. that Ryan Gosling doesn't want us to ever forget: the font used in its logo.
"Papyrus," which takes the name of the typeface, is one of SNL's best digital shorts of the year, a hilariously bleak take on one man's inability to let go of one graphic designer's very poor decision.
The original premise — which struck a chord for many — yields increasingly heightened comedy: Best is when Gosling's character learns that several Avatar sequels are on the way, and somehow,.
"Papyrus" remains the font of choice for the franchise. (Cue screaming and table-flipping.) You know a sketch has landed when the creator of the font you're satirizing has to come out and defend himself.
