New Year's even went off with a bang across the UK with amazing fireworks displays in some of the biggest cities. But some Brit revellers were more interested in donning skimpy outfits for their last night out of the year.

Pictures from the early hours of the morning show dozens of girls leaving packed bars and nightclubs wearing very little.

The UK has welcomed in the new year, with hundreds of thousands taking to the streets to watch dazzling fireworks and join lively celebrations.

Crowds swamped the banks of the River Thames in London for the 12-minute display after Big Bens bongs rung out across the capital at midnight, having been turned back on for the festive period.

In Edinburgh, revellers braved blustery conditions to enjoy Hogmanay celebrations, after Storm Dylan earlier threatened to cause disruption.

Gusts of up to 76mph were recorded in parts of Scotland on Sunday afternoon but conditions calmed, allowing one of the worlds biggest street parties to go ahead as planned.

More than 100,000 ticket-holders watched Londons New Years Eve fireworks, which featured a soundtrack dominated by women to mark the centenary of women being granted the vote.

But the night's antics were too much of some revellers too handle. Pictures taken in Nottingham show one man struggling to keep up with the hectic pace of New Year's eve night out.
