PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING Movie Review – John Boyega – Cailee Spaeny – Scott Eastwood – #PacificRim - Duration: 4:50.

I'm happy to report that the crappy music from the trailer is NOT in the movie!

This here is Rusty Jack.

He is kind of an asshole, which is probably why we get along so well.

It's highly unlikely that he'll want to stick around for this whole video, but we'll

see.

My regular sidekick, Shadow, who usually camps out over there, has no desire to even be in

the same room as Jack here, so I've got BB8 in his spot today.

It's been about 12 hours since I saw Pacific Rim: Uprising and I already forgot the names

of the characters.

Honestly, that doesn't matter… but I actually did like this movie quite a lot.

This is a surprise, because I did not expect to like it at all.

I thought that the first movie was all kinds of stupid and expected this one to be exactly

the same.

Don't get me wrong!

This movie IS stupid.

But it's stupid in the right kind of way while the first one was stupid in all the

wrong kinds of ways.

So…

Pacific Rim is about giant monsters that crawl out of the ocean.

To fight them people build giant robots.

This is a premise that is perfect for a Saturday Morning cartoon.

Like Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, et cetera.

Do any of you remember Dino Riders?

That one was my favorite!

A movie about this kind of stuff needs to be either really campy and cheesy or specifically

made for kids.

The first film was neither.

It took itself too seriously and had unnecessary adult relationships that clashed with the

absolute ridiculousness of the idea.

I hated it when I saw it and didn't like it any better with repeat viewings.

Even the cool scene when the robot smacked the monster with a boat didn't make up for

it.

I expected the new movie to be the same thing over again.

And in some ways it was.

It's still giant robots fighting monsters.

But in other ways, this movie was totally different.

While John Boyega's character is front and center, this movie isn't about him.

The main focus of the story is on a teenage girl who became an orphan and now builds giant

robots from scrap.

She's pretty much the little girl character from the last Transformers movie, but done

right.

While in the last Transformers the girl was totally useless…

Then again, everything was totally useless in that pathetic excuse for a movie…

In Pacific Rim 2 the girl is the central character and is absolutely perfect.

A good character allows us to experience the action vicariously.

And that's exactly what she does.

The dialogue and the set up are pretty much exactly as you'd want in a Saturday morning

cartoon.

The relationships are superficial and just right for the 8 year olds in the audience.

There's also not too much talk and character development, but lots of robots punching each

other and then punching monsters.

Which is how it should be.

If you watch this movie for story then there's something seriously wrong with you.

This kind of movie is fun and silly.

Stick your kids in the movie theater and let them go wooooow for a while!

There are just enough dialogue scenes for kid-level character development and for your

typical cartoon lessons of teamwork, friendship, and whatever else.

Each dialogue scene only lasts a few minutes and then there are big robots punching each

other.

Then there's a bit more talk, an inspiring montage, and big robots beating up a monster.

Eventually the monster is dead and there's an obligatory sequel set up.

There's an actual human villain in this movie, who is very obvious about being a villain,

but maybe not so to a little kid.

I could tell that the kids who sat next to me were surprised.

His motivations are generic and unclear, but who cares?

He makes giant robots fight each.

What more could you want?

There is a hint of a romantic relationship slash love triangle, but it stays at the level

of hugs and kisses on the cheek, which is just perfect, as far as I'm concerned.

It's just enough to get little kids giggling.

One thing that I'll add is that the movie is very obviously made for both English-speaking

and Chinese audiences.

The characters are international and I really enjoyed that.

I know it sounds odd, but shes doing this and Im hearing laughter in my head, he reveals the King of Queens star.

Its like female laughter, and I just needed you to know its her way of saying she understands and clearly she finds it funny. Ive been so stressed about that for so many years.So to hear her laughing, thats crazy, she shares through her tears.  .

On this occasion I will show you how to calculate the total correction using Lines of Enfilación, and Opposition.

In this way you can pass the exam for the title of Skipper, quickly and easily.

Let's go to work.

We are going to calculate the total correction of a line.

Let's see the example:

We found ourselves at the Punta Europa heading with Punta Carnero, and at that moment we took a needle delay to the Punta Europa lighthouse, obtaining 256 degrees. Find the total correction?

First we will find the true delay in the nautical chart.

First we will locate the respective headlights.

We get a needle delay of 20 degrees.

since I said on this channel I was practicing Kendo. Because, as strange as it might seem

Kendo has a disproportionately popular image

compared to the number of adherents. Fair enough, there are 1.5 million in Japan

half a million in Korea. But in France,

world's 3rd biggest federation

Kendo has as many adherent as Tamburello

Ever heard of Tamburello?

However, this fantasy inspired by Kendo isn't completely made up.

Meaning litteraly "The way of the sword",

Kendo is the most ancestral japanese martial art

inheriting directly from the kenjutsu - saber technique - practiced by samurais.

It is also the widest spread in its origin country

and present surprising properties.

What is the point of practicing Kendo ?

Well, you could also ask me, what is the point of practicing any sport at all

but we are talking about a martial art here, it's biased. The first guy around the corner would tell you :

"Well you can defend yourself, right? You must be dangerous because of it, musn't you?"

Yeahhh… but no. If you don't provide me with armor, a shinai

and a wooden floor, I am about as dangerous as your little sister.

I mean, at least if I exclusively use what I learned in a dojo

In reality, the goal of Kendo, as described by the international federation, is

To mold the mind and body,

To cultivate a vigorous spirit, And through correct and rigid training,

To strive for improvement

in the art of Kendo, To hold in esteem

human courtesy and honor,

To associate with others

with sincerity, And to forever pursue

the cultivation of oneself.

This will make one be able:

To love his/her country and society,

To contribute to the development of culture

And to promote peace and prosperity among all peoples.

Impressive isn't it ? kendo is primarily a discipline

in the original meaning of the word. It appears in the way

clubs are organized. Hierarchy is very important,

the teacher is revered,

and when entering a dojo, one implicitly accepts

to leave behind any intention of forcing their voice

or individuality upon others. It may sound harsh,

but in martial arts, there is no space for democracy.

This because of its primary goal: transmission.

The teacher, or sensei, is the guardian of knowledge.

Elders, or senpai, pass it on, to the less experienced,

the youngsters, or kohai. Everybody has at least one senpai

and everyone has or will have at least a kohai.

This same idea of inheritance partially explains why kenshis

have specific rituals, codified ways of conduct,

covering a range of fields from clothing to

the strictly-enforced order of salutes. This code is called reigi.

The Kata is following the same concepts. From what I've been told

about the time when Kendo was first created, many school masters

met to define 10 codified forms,

supposed to contain the essence of saber fighting.

Nowadays, these codified forms will be for most parts

useless in "real" kendo fights

some of which using wakizashi. Not used anymore

in modern Kendo. However they must be known

for graduations. You might be wondering

what the techniques used for striking are. I'll first explain

what a "valid hit", or Yuko-Datotsu in Japanese, is.

Contrary to fencing, where the contact

between part or the sword and part of the armor is enough

in Kendo, things are more complex.

First, you obviously need the right part of the Shinai to touch the armor.

Which means the blade must have the right orientation.

Then you need coordination between the ki, the energy

- expressed by a powerful scream- the ken, the saber,

and tai,the body- expressed by stomping.

The three components must happen in the most synchronous way possible

which is called the ki-ken-tai no ichi.

Everything should be done in a proper position,

which should be energetic enough to be considered as a cut, and not a mere touch.

Lastly, you have to show your vigilance, your ''zanshin''

by keeping your opponent from having the opportunity to counterattack.

As for the techniques themselves, we have as many as 4

but they can be done with many variations

each of which needs to be carried out in a manner that meets specific stance and execution criteria

to be considered valid.

I think you now know why most Kenshi aren't fond

of the very notion of bringing competitive Kendo

to the Olympic Games.

It's a very complex and obscure sport to the eye of an outsider.

And we fear that this decision is going to

simplify kendo for a better comprehension,

which would be a betrayal of its essence

But let's talk about the competition. While the Japanese

dominate the world tournaments, in Europe, France is a great opponent

, with many titles in European championships

perhaps even more than all the other European countries combined.

What is interesting with Kendo

and that I wanted to stress, is that you don't have weight categories

and some competition are even open to men and women alike

Because this martial art draws its singularity from the fact that it is all about techniques

while remaining about direct opposition.

It means that we simply try to get points, ''ippons''

and any physical contact deemed too violent

is severely punished, even going so far as a disqualification.

We can see this technique prevalence by looking

at the physiques of international champions from last years.

None of them are similar, none of their fighting styles could even be described as "close"

and still, they all are fearsome opponents.

In this respect, and some might call me a heretic for saying this,

we could almost compare Kendo to football/soccer.

When you see the differences between Messi and Zlatan, you might ask yourself if they are playing the same game.

But let's get back on track. What is beautiful with Kendo

is that everyone can practice it and improve themselves, and this remains true

until a very old age. Because of that

an old judoka master could never

be a real threat to Teddy Riner

while an old kendoka master could frighten his best students.

This immense technical and situational experience

can only grow, making even a nice grandpa a fearsome opponent

and this particularity can be

found in the rank system as well.

While becoming 1st dan, or black belt, in Kendo,

requires only 3 years of regular practice

reaching the highest grade, the 8th, is another story.

One will have to wait a full year after the 1st dan to take the exam leading to the second dan

2 years after the 2nd dan for the 3rd

3 years after the 3rd, etc.

And it keeps going until the 7th dan, for which one

will wait this time 10 years to try to get the 8th.

One musn't forget that the criteria are tightening drastically from grade to grade.

So, even though 80 to 90% of the aspirants get the 1st dan

for the 8th, it will be less than 2 percent.

Yes, you heard me, the barrier is high.

Does all this mean that I think Kendo is perfectly fine as it is?

The question is subtle.

There is nothing lacking in Kendo to exist as such,

and it would be very pretentious for me to say that Kendo should undergo deep changes across the board.

However, and this is only my opinion, having been to Japan to train myself,

Europeans have a tendency to overdo things

in order to be even more "Japanese" than the Japanese actually are.

Thus, traditional training could be paired up with relevant physical reinforcement.

This could take the form of useful, efficient mental preparation.

In my opinion, tradition should not be used as shackles,

but as support. After all, Japanese, Americans

and Koreans are not as shy as us in regard of training improvements.

However, because of the values it conveys, the second family it brought me,

Kendo has done so much for me that I can't say anything else

than go look for the nearest dojo and give it a try.

Falcon BMS 4.33 - Taxi and Takeoff - English Subtitles - Duration: 16:29.

Hi and welcome to Revientor Reborn, This is Falcon BMS and F16 as you can see

today I am going to speak about taxi and takeoff

stay turn until the end of the video, because at the end I´m speaking about the takeoff with asymmetric loading

let go with the terms

as you know I never speak about radio procedures, in this case ATC, you can see other specific tutorial of mine about that topic

right now we are focus in the plane and how to use it

I tuned off the radio to do not have radio messages

and let´s start with the taxi

I have the parking brake on, I turn it off, and be sure to use your brakes to keep the plane stopped

because when the F16 is not full loaded, the engine in idle power can move the plane on ground

first things first, some power to start the taxi run,

then when you have some movement you have to make a brake test, use your pedals to brake , if the brakes do not work, you can use the key K

now, where to go to the runway, now because I entered in taxi mode, I am near the runway, in this case in front of me

look the external views, as you can see I am already near the next runway, the one behind me is not the active one to takeoff

if you are in ramp and you do not know where o go, the ideal is have the airport info in a paper or tablet, and look where to g, you can also try external views

or you can use the logic, if ATC say, runway 36 , that means your takeoff heading is 360, then you can see your HSI and look for that heading

then you have to do taxi in the opposite side, imagine my hand is the base and we are in the middle, and you do not know where to go, you look the hsi and take the opposite heading,

if you go in the same takeoff heading you will get the end of the airbase, and the only runway available will be the wrong one, for that you have to go opposite to the runway and when you get the end of the airbase you will be in the correct runway, in theory

remember you have some signs in the airport... do not forget to read them

we already did the brake test, now is the rudder test, as you can see the nose wheel steering is on, thank to that light, remember is "shift _" to activate it

as you can see the light goes on/off

that key must be in the hotas

now I add some power and I play with the pedals/rudder tu check if the NWS is working as expected

and now it´s time to follow the line

according your vSquadron, or real life operations... different protocols, or different countries...

the normal thing is go over the yellow line, but some squadrons at night they follow the line and in day light to short distances they go one plane on the left and the other plane behind on the right of the line

in BMS with the AI the thing is follow the line

I will make a video about how to use the ATC and all that stuff

sometimes you have to break, let me stop the plane to explain this

while performing taxi you do not have go over 20 knots, in straight ahead, and 15 when turning

how you can know that speed, you can not use the HUD because this one shows the speed when is over 60

you can see that in my ICP tutorials, press the nº5 button in the icp then the nº6 and this menu, you remember it from the ins alignment in the ramp start

there when the G/S is placed that 0 is your current speed

now it´s 0 because I am stopped, with that value I will know the speed, look now I released the brakes and in idle the plane is already moving

eventually you have to brake, remember the F16 have differential brakes, you can brake with one wheel only and turn to the side of the wheel braked,

if you do not have NES working you can use the differential brakes, but try to avoid that if it´s possible use NWS

because the brakes are getting hot and can be damaged

look the speed, remember to avoid fast speed in turning, because the plane can overturn

here is the runway 36, go in

remember I am not explaining ATC protocols

according your squadron or SOPs , if you are alone you will use the whole runway for you, take the center position

get 360 heading

I know that I am well in line, because the heading is 360, as the runway, because both sided of the runway converge in the end of the wold

look the true heading, I am in 359.8º

not all the runways have the correct heading/number, this runway can be the 36 but the heading can be 356

may be you are in the same number/heading and you get out the runway while taking off, check the airport diagram

today´s plane is nor really heavy, the loadout is external tanks, the takeoff will not be slow but also not too fast

the NWS will be on until the pilot turn it off, you have to turn it off when rich around 70 knots

the HUD will show speed indication over 60, then you have there the signal to deactivate the nws

because at the beginning if you are not well align with the runway at low speed you can fix that with your NWS, but in fast speed is dangerous to overturn the plane...

at fast speed you will use the pedals to move the plane but with the vertical stabilizer nor with the wheels

there you can see the rudder how big and how the pedals move it

takeoff speed, is weight dependent, a clean plane can take off with 120, with heavy loaded, around 180

the tool weapon delivery planner, can calculate all those data

a easy number to remember, 160 knots, you move the stick back, slowly, when you see the nose is going up, you will know you are having sustentation, be carefull

because the nose will raise it before the stall speed... wait a few second more, do it slowly, if you get hi pitch with stall speed you will drain energy of the plane aerodynamically

any wa test the weapon delivery planer to see when the you pull up at 143 knots and the plane takeoff at 160 knot

easy way, 160 knots, you will almost always takeoff, a heavy plane takeoff around 180, doing it slowly from 160 you will get 180 easily

If you have a light plane you can use only military thrust, you can hold the plane with the brakes until 90% of rpms

real life thing is, set 80/90% use the brakes, and check if the engine parameters are stables

once the engine parameters are checked, just 100% and release the brakes

with a heavy plane, always use the brakes to get the engine in that power and then use mil. or afterburner

normally you will use afterburner , there are protocols that force to the pilot to use the afterburner, like when you have a load in the center pylon

and you have to keep that afterburner until 350 knots, not it´s time to do it

90%, brakes on

as you can see now the plane wants to go forward,

the instruments are steady... remember this is a sim and is not going to kill your fun

brakes out, and afterburner on, now when 160 knot I will move the stick backward , pulling slowly until takeoff

with 70 NWS is off, I have with the pedals fix some heading....

and now use the key G to raise the landing gear

keep a pitch of 5 or fly parallel to the runway until reach the 350 knots

I prefer minimal of 300 knots but the manual say 350

now with 350 military thrust , afterburner off

remember that your landing gear must be, hide before 305 knots, the sooner the better

do not use the G key when reaching 300 knots, play safe and do it when you have the plane controlled and positive climbing rate

sometimes when takeoff the plane takeoff but at the second try to fall a bit...

remember, the F16 have automatic FLAPS, that means when you raise the landing gear you also raise the flaps, there is other configuration about that but is out of the scope of this tutorial

for that whit heavy plane you have to be sure you have enough sustentation, wais a few second in afterburner and raise the LG around 220 knots

now it´s time to see the takeoff with asymmetric loading

remember this panel, trim panel. and we´ll trim in ROLL TRIM

left or right, that will forthe to the plane to do this.... or this....

I want to show you also the weapon delivery planner, to calculate the speed of takeoff

here in performance TAP you can select the type of plane and the configuration in SET. the fuel also... and the right side

you can set the pitch takeoff, and below you have the initial speed to start pulling the stick

with today's plane I can takeoff starting the pull with 130 knots

then the speed that you will leave the ground and finally the speed to abort

now about the asymmetric loading, the easy example:

the left wing is empty and the right wing have a big stone of 500lb

because of that the right winth will turn right due that weight

the you have to trim left, you already know the position to trim, now you need to know how much.

if my takeoff speed is, 137, you look for that value in the table, 137..

140 to be easier, now you follow that point until hit the line of 500lb

this black lines are lb of difference between wings

if the difference is 750 you know is the middle between that black lines

140 knots, 500lb, is in this point, now follow the line in vertical, to the next graphic

now here you must know what is the station where is the difference weight

remember the nº1 is the tip of the plane, the two is the next one balbalbla

the fuel tanks are the 4 and 6 for example,

let´s do this example with the 3 and 7, you have to go down in parallel with the black lines until hit the 3/7 line, horizontally

when you find the 3/7 line, you then go down vertical, now you know you have to trim one point + half one

then you trim that value and you will be able to takeoff with almos no rotation in roll,

Copperheads 7: Serum ceruloplasmin test for Wilson's disease - Duration: 10:55.

Hello Copperheads!

My name is Cupri and my first 6 videos have all been about preparing you for this moment.

Today and in the next few weeks we're gonna be learning about how to diagnose Wilson's

disease.

If you or someone you love is currently in the process of confirming or excluding a Wilson's

disease diagnosis, it's extremely important that you become familiar with this process.

Not just because it's good to know what to expect, but also because, unfortunately,

many doctors don't know all that much about Wilson's disease and will often make mistakes.

So I want you to be informed and empowered to advocate for yourself if you need to.

The most important thing you need to know is that there isn't one test that can diagnose

Wilson's disease.

The process involves, at the very least, several blood and urine tests, and can also include

even more blood and urine tests, an abdominal ultrasound, a liver biopsy, a brain MRI, and

a genetic test.

The particular combination of tests is gonna depend on each case, but there are 4 crucial

values that always need to be measured when assessing the possibility of a Wilson's

disease diagnosis.

These crucial values are: serum ceruloplasmin, total serum copper, free serum copper, and

24-hour urine copper.

Today we're only gonna cover the first one, serum ceruloplasmin.

The serum is the portion of your blood that is neither blood cells nor clotting factors.

So it includes all the proteins that are not involved in blood coagulation, as well as

hormones, antigens, antibodies, ions, etc.

We measure the concentration of ceruloplasmin in your serum because this value is decreased

in people with Wilson's disease.

The CP gene makes ceruloplasmin.

Ceruloplasmin is a protein, specifically a ferroxidase enzyme.

That means it's involved in iron metabolism.

You might be wondering: if it's involved in iron metabolism, then why do we look at

it when diagnosing Wilson's disease, which is a condition of copper metabolism?

Well, let's make this explanation fun by playing with some legos.

So , the CP gene tells me how to put these white and yellow lego pieces together to make

apoceruloplasmin.

Apo- comes from Greek, and it means "away from" or "detached".

Apoceruloplasmin is ceruloplasmin that is not bound to any copper ions, which are these

loose red lego pieces.

And this is where protein ATP7B comes in.

Protein ATP7B attaches 6 copper atoms to apoceruloplasmin, and by doing this transforms it into holoceruloplasmin.

Holo- also comes from Greek, and it means "whole" or "complete".

There are two important differences between apo- and holoceruloplasmin.

The first difference is about activity.

Apoceruloplasmin on the left is missing those 6 copper atoms, and it doesn't have the

right shape to interact with this black and blue Lego molecule I have over here.

The shape is not right, so it's not able to do its job as part of iron metabolism,

so we say it's biologically inactive.

Holoceruloplasmin on the right does have the 6 copper atoms, and it does have the right

shape to interact with my black and blue molecule.

So it is able to do its job as a ferroxidase enzyme, and we say it's biologically active.

The second difference between apo- and holoceruloplasmin is about stability.

My lego pieces on this apoceruloplasmin molecule on the left don't have many attachment points,

so if I play with it a little bit the pieces quickly fall apart.

But, my holoceruloplasmin molecule on the right is more stable thanks to these copper

atoms; so it takes a lot more effort to take it apart.

We saw in the Copperheads 4 video that if you have Wilson's disease, your protein

ATP7B is not able to load copper ions onto ceruloplasmin very well.

This means that if you have Wilson's disease you end up having a higher proportion of the

less stable apoceruloplasmin, and a lower proportion of the more stable holoceruloplasmin.

So even though Wilson's disease doesn't cause you to make less ceruloplasmin, it does

cause it to break down faster, so overall you end up having a lower concentration of

ceruloplasmin in your blood serum.

But how low?

Well, most labs consider that the normal range for adults is 200 to 500 mg of ceruloplasmin

per L of blood serum, and both the European and the American Wilson's disease guidelines

agree that values below 200 mg/L strongly indicate Wilson's disease.

And I'm saying "strongly indicate", because the concentration of serum ceruloplasmin

alone is not enough to confirm or exclude a Wilson's disease diagnosis.

If your doctor tells you that you don't have Wilson's disease just because your

serum ceruloplasmin is within the normal range, you need to know that it's perfectly possible

to have normal ceruloplasmin levels and still have Wilson's disease, because every particular

body and situation is unique.

Yes, Wilson's disease lowers your ceruloplasmin concentration, but there are other factors

that can raise it, so your result can end up being within the normal range and doctors

can end up concluding that you don't have Wilson's disease even if you actually do.

The three big factors that raise ceruloplasmin are:

1) Age: before 6 months of age, ceruloplasmin is very low.

Then it peaks, and after one year of age it drops again.

After that, it slowly rises as we age.

2) Estrogen: more estrogen, more ceruloplasmin.

And this is a very important topic that will get its own video in the near future.

And 3) Inflammation: if you have inflammation in your body, for example due to liver failure,

arthritis, or whatever, your ceruloplasmin levels are also increased.

Additionally, here is the thing: there are two way to measure serum ceruloplasmin in

the lab.

Method 1 is immunological and uses an antibody that reacts specifically to human ceruloplasmin,

but does not distinguish between biologically-inactive apoceruloplasmin and biologically-active holoceruloplasmin.

Method 2 is enzymatic and it measures only holoceruloplasmin because it's biologically

active as an enzyme.

In people without Wilson's disease the two methods give almost the same result, because

these people have very tiny amounts of apoceruloplasmin, the biologically inactive form.

But people with Wilson's disease have a lot more apoceruloplasmin, so if they get

tested using an immunological method, they can get a result within the normal range,

when in fact the biologically-active and biologically-relevant holoceruloplasmin form is quite low.

So now that we have covered why a person might have normal ceruloplasmin even though they

have Wilson's disease, let's talk about what might cause a person to have low ceruloplasmin

even though they do not have Wilson's disease.

1) We have severe copper deficiency 2) We have severe liver damage for any underlying

reason.

3) We have other conditions, such as Menkes disease and aceruloplasminemia.

And 4) We have being a carrier but not a patient of Wilson's disease.

As we covered in Copperheads 2 and Copperheads 3, carriers can have a somewhat abnormal copper

metabolism, but it's not bad enough for them to actually develop the disease.

So, the main conclusion of this video is that serum ceruloplasmin can give us useful and

crucial information, but at the same time we have to be very careful when interpreting

this value, we have to look at it in the context of the particular patient, and we always have

to consider the bigger picture of all the other test results that we will continue covering

in the next few weeks.

I just wanna tell you one more thing before we go.

Last week I went on and on about the importance of always saying the units.

This is because different labs are gonna use different units to measure serum ceruloplasmin

or any other value.

The normal serum ceruloplasmin range for adults is typically 200 to 500 mg of ceruloplasmin

per liter of human blood serum, but some labs might express the same values using other

units, for example mg/dL or g/L.

Let's take for example 350 mg/L, which is right in the middle of the normal range, and

convert it to mg/dL using the math skills we developed last week.

First fraction (which is 350 mg per 1 L), multiplied by a second fraction (which is

1 L per 10 dL).

Liters cancel each other out, so this equals 350 mg per 10 dL, which equals 35 mg/dL.

Now let's take 350 mg/L and convert it to g/L.

First fraction (which is 350 mg per 1 L), multiplied by a second fraction (which is

1 g per 1000 mg).

Milligrams cancel each other out, so this equals 350 g per 1000 L, which equals 0.35

g/L.

So you see, 350, 35 and 0.35 look like very different numbers, but when we attach the

correct units to each of them we can see that they all mean the same.

When discussing your test results with other people you always need to say the units.

I see communication problems because of this all the time in online patient communities.

Person A comes and says that their serum ceruloplasmin is 35, so person B assumes the units are mg/dL

and says "oh, that's normal, don't worry about it", but person C assumes the units

are mg/L, so they say "what are you talking about, that's really low".

And then an argument ensues because people are not realizing that the lack of units is

causing all this confusion.
