Youtube daily report Mar 24 2018

Hey welcome to Zach's Tech Turf.

Today I'm gonna be playing some Assassin's Creed Origins when I give you this news, I

got my cup of coffee right here, make sure you guys let me know in the comment section

what you're sippin' on, let's get into it!

To start off the tech news this week, we are already seeing 2 companies apparently joining

up with the Nvidia GeForce Partner Program that I talked about just the other week.

The Partner Program in basically just an agreement that video card manufacturers will only display

their high end gaming brands with Nvidia cards and not AMD.

Our first 2 quote un quote victims of the GPP so far are Gigabyte and MSI.

Gigabyte completely stripped their Aorus tag off their new gaming box with the RX 580 in

it, and MSI did the same thing with their 580's.

This is live on their website right now so go check that out if you're interested.

I have everything I talk about down in the description.

Next up our first big news from GDC is that 4K 144hz HDR monitors should be coming here

as early as the end of April.

Asus and Acer have announced that they both will be featuring the AU Optronics 3840x2160

144Hz GSync and HDR panel.

As someone with a 6 core 8700K and monster GTx 1080 TI, I'm definitely waiting for

these types of monitors to come out, but hopefully they aren't insanely priced.

AMD released a pretty comforting statement about the supposed security flaws in their

processors , saying that yes the flaws do exist, but they all need administrator access

so it's really not that big of a deal.

If you missed it, last week we talked about CTS Labs claiming that there are 13 major

security flaws with AMD processors, but like I just said, all of them require admin access

to the local system so if your AMD based PC ever gave up admin access to a hacker, you're

already screwed.

AMD is still working on updating bios and firmwares but this doesn't seem nearly as

big of a deal as CTS Labs made it out to be.

And in some more AMD news, their first generation Ryzen and Threadripper CPU's have taken

a good drop in price due to their upcoming release of the new Ryzen chips.

Most of the CPUs are down about 10 to 15 bucks so it might be a good time to buy these if

you're not interested in the new generation, but I don't know why you wouldn't be.

The next generation of Ryzen isn't gonna be a mind blowing performance increase, but

it'll still be solid and you might as well wait until next month in my opinion.

In some graphics card news, PowerCooler announced that their custom Red Dragon Vega 56 GPU will

be coming on March 28th.

We've actually seen pictures of this cooler before, and this was honestly my number one

pick for a graphics card in my personal red and black gaming PC build.

I was so upset that I couldn't buy this at the time of building around 2 months ago,

as this is definitely one good looking Vega 56.

Either way, it'll still be pretty tough to get your hands on and you can probably

forget about buying it at a decent price.

And to wrap up the tech news for the week, Microsoft has announced that they are working

on changes that will significantly decrease the time it takes us to update our Windows

10 systems.

Microsoft stated that on average users showed 82 minutes of downtime for the entire Fall

Creators update process, which is actually pretty high.

The new changes should be coming to their first update in 2018 and on average they are

testing that computers will only be down or offline for about 30 minutes.

Most of us have this configured to do this while we sleep anyway, so me, thank you?

To start off the PC gaming news for the week, let's kick things off with a free game.

You can score Formula 1 2015 over on the Humble Bundle store right now for absolutely nothing,

AKA Free.

99.

The Humble Store is also rocking some pretty good Bethesda and Codemaster deals while you're

over there.

Annndd to make us all feel like poop, insanely popular Fortnite Twitch streamer Ninja announced

on CNBC that he's making roughly $500,000 per month.

Per.

Month.

I mean the dude is setting very impressive Twitch streaming records and like I reported

last week, he streamed with the rapper Drake, but 500,000?

That's incredible.

In some more GDC news Grendan Green showed off the first glimpse of the new quarter sized

PUBG map.

It's a 4x4km map that should result in some much more intense matches, which I'm personally

in favor of and that's all we really know about it so far.

And to wrap up the PC gaming news for the week, last week Fortnite became available

on iOS, this week PUBG is now available on both iOS and Android.

PUBG sent out a Canada only event on mobile devices last weekend and I'm sure after

the massive numbers of Fortnite on mobile they wanted to come to the US as quickly as

possible.

I honestly don't think that I'm gonna be trying this one out, shooters on mobile

phones are always very tough to control, but be sure to let me know down in the comment

section if you've tried it.

Well that wraps up Weekly Download episode number 86.

Make sure you guys let me know in the comment section what you're favorite tech or PC

gaming news was, or if I missed anything.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this video, please drop a like down below to help support my

GRWM FOR DISNEY WORLD! - Duration: 10:26.

Hey guys, it's Sher.

I'm on vacation and I've been visiting Disney World for the past couple days, so I thought

I would do a Get Ready With Me for Disney World, do my makeup like I've been doing it

for Disney and also talk about my trip and how it's going so far.

So if you want to watch me do my makeup and talk about Disney World then let's get into

the video!

Whatever will I use to hold my hair back to do my makeup for Disney World?!

I paid like 25 dollars for these ears, so I'm going to use them for something.

Do you guys hear that?

I feel like somebody's standing right outside our second story window and like, screaming

inside the window, like that's how close they sound.

I hope you guys can hear me okay because this bathroom is really echoey but it also has

the best lighting in the house, so I'm going to use it and hope that you can hear me.

I swear I just heard somebody say YOLO right outside my window.

So we've been at Disney, well we went to Disney for like, two days.

We've been in Florida for like, five days I think, but we went to Disney two times which

was yesterday and the day before yesterday.

I went once when I was younger but I didn't really remember it and then Ryan went, Ryan

has never been, he went to Disneyland, but he's never been to Disney World in Florida.

So really it was like a first for both of us and we didn't know what to expect going

in.

Basically, it's really overwhelming, there's like a million places to see and things to

do.

I think there's 5 themed parks, like different sections of the park.

I think we managed to visit all 5 of them.

We went to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot on the first day, and then yesterday, we went

to..we went to the Animal Kingdom and Disney Hollywood Studios and...maybe we only went

to 4 'cause I'm only remembering that.

Basically there's just so much to see and do that it's impossible to get it all done

in the amount of time that you spend there, I think.

When we booked the trip, our travel agent said "You're not going to see everything,

like it's probably better to just pick one or two parks that you really want to see and

then leave the rest for another vist."

And she was right, there's just like so much going on at, at all times.

There's all these different shows in the different parks and it's like, you kinda gotta pick

which one you want to see the most and go there and even at night time when they do

the fireworks, we caught Epcot's firework light show and then we caught the Magic Kingdom's

fireworks show last night, which was you know, that's the ultimate one that everyone goes

to see, but the Epcot one was really cool too and I think that every single park does

their own version of the Magic Kingdom's big fireworks display.

Yesterday, we went to Disney Hollywood Studies, which is the park that I specifically remember

going to when I was young and I went to Disney World, and I would say that one is the smallest

one and it's definitely more manageable than the other ones, like Animal Kingdom is really

big, Magic Kingdom is really big, Epcot was big but it's manageable too.

Like, we visited, I want to say we got through a lot of the Epcot park, when I say go through

I really just mean explored and walked around everywhere that is possible to walk around

because we didn't even...We didn't even try to ride the rides.

When I say these rides even in the middle of December, had 260 minute wait times, that's

not an exaggeration.

Insanely long, like insanely long wait times for every single ride.

Even though it's the beginning of January technically, uh, you would really think that

there would not be that many people in the park and you'd be wrong because it's packed.

When we went to the Magic Kingdom, like it was so packed that if someone in front of

you stopped walking there was no going around them, like you just had to wait for them to

move or you weren't going anywhere, like it was that packed.

I really want to try like, a red eyeshadow look.

These are read, like red shades, so I'm excited.

I had never been on a plane before this trip surprisingly, or not surprisingly.

But um, I was nervous and excited about that all at the same time and basically it turned

out to be exactly what I thought it was going to be, a little scary at first but then you

just get used to it.

Um, I did get yelled at once or not yelled at, but like reprimanded by airport security

once.

I had never done anything like related to airport security before.

I was nervous and I didn't know exactly what to do or whatever so I didn't take my shoes

off to go through the metal detector thing, or the screening thing whatever they do.

And the woman who took my purse, like she didn't tell me to do that and so, I went to

walk into the screening area and the other security lady was like "Shoes please!

Take your shoes off!"

And I was just like oh my god, okay, I didn't, I didn't know, like I'm so sorry, I don't

have a bomb or anything.

Other than that it was pretty smooth.

I will say this, that I did not expect, even though I should have because I get car sick

really easily, I did not expect to feel like nauseous on the plane and I did a little bit.

On the second flight, not really the first one, because the first one I think my nerves

were just kinda all over the place and I definitely started noticing I was feeling kinda sick,

almost like there wasn't enough air in the cabin, I don't know if anyone else experiences

that but that's exactly how I felt, like there wasn't enough air to go around to everyone

in the plane.

I don't know.

That sounds stupid, but other than that it went okay.

I mean, we didn't crash, so.

The second security incident that I had was when I went to Disney.

I did not hear this at all the first day, there were no warning signs, nothing, apparently

you're not allowed to take selfie sticks inside of Disney because they could be used as a

weapon or something and I didn't know that and of course I brought my selfie stick because

I thought hey, like a non-shaky version of trying to vlog Disney World which I ended

up vlogging anyway but still it was just really shaky compared to how it would have been if

I had had my selfie stick because I could have just held it and vlogged that way so

that's why I took it, and when I got to the first security checkpoint, they go through

your bag.

The guy was like "Absolutely no selfie sticks are allowed in these parks!

In any of the parks.

So I need you to take your selfie stick, drop it off at Mickey Mouse Giftshop and get it

later on in the day.

You can check it in and pick it up when you leave."

And I"m just like oh my god, again?

It makes me feel stupid because I didn't know, because I don't know how any of this works,

so that was the other incident that I was thinking of.

The noises outside are killing me, the sounds and the noises and the yelling is really killing

the vibe for this video.

Another thing I did expect in Florida even though its January, it is super cold.

Not warm at all.

And I mean, in the day it is, but at nighttime, it's freezing.

And so we did not expect that the first day we went to Disney until we got there and it's

warm and I have a sweater on, but I didn't take my big heavy jacket, I didn't take gloves,

I was, just not prepared for it to be cold.

Keep in mind, I'm coming from super cold temperatures, like 1 degree on Christmas Eve.

Ryan's not prepared either, like he doesn't have, he's not any more warm than I am, he's

not any more warmly dressed than me at this point, and so it feels good until about 8

oclock.

After 8, it's all just, I mean it, it goes downhill from there.

And then yesterday, we were better prepared so we wore gloves, I wore two pairs of socks,

I tried to layer up my pants but it just didn't work, which I guess it's a good thing that

we did come from colder temperatures because we were already dressed kinda warmly when

we got on the plane that morning coming here.

If we had not come from a place where we had to wear jackets and coats and gloves and stuff

like that, then we would have totally been not prepared and we would have had to spend

even more money here getting clothes that are warm.

So I used "he-devil" in my crease and like on the outer corners of my eye, and then I

think I'm going to use these two colors on my lid.

I think out of all the parks, my favorite ones were Epcot because of the cool, little

around the world area that they have where you can visit each different country, like

see different landmarks, they have different areas for food that you can eat from that

country, it's just really cool to see, just to see what all they include for each country,

it's very cool.

And then I also really liked their fireworks show because it was not just fireworks, it

was um, it was like this light show too.

They brought out this big globe that came floating in on the water and it was a globe

of the world and each country was like, lit up different and had different pictures on

it and it spun around and it just did a bunch of cool things and I feel like their show

kind of promoted the whole, I don't know, just the whole idea of unity between different

countries and people who speak different languages.

I really liked that.

And I also really liked the Avatar area in the Animal Kingdom.

I remember watching that movie, which I guess it was like, 8 years ago now that it came

out, it doesn't feel like that, but I remember watching that movie and thinking it was so

cool.

In the Animal Kingdom, they recreated that whole world and everything looked so real

but you knew it was fake, and I don't know.

And of course the Magic Kingdom fireworks show was also really cool, they tried to include

one song I think from most of the main Disney movies.

If you're not interested in one Disney movie then if you just gave it a couple minutes

then they were probably going to play something that, from a movie that you knew.

I just like fireworks in general, so.

And that's something I don't remember from when I was young, is that the castle doesn't

just light up different colors, they can play different scenes from different Disney movies

on the castle, which is awesome because the castle is so big that everyone in the park

could see it and they could watch it wherever you are, so wherever you're standing, you

probably have a pretty good vantage point of the castle and the fireworks.Oh and along

with the mouse ears, I also got this cool Mickey Mouse hat that says Mickey Mouse 1928

Sport on it and it has a little gold Mickey Mouse outline right here which I think is

so cute and then also it has these sporty white stripes which, I don't know if you tell

but I'm totally into it right now, and it matches my shirt.

I mean, I'm not normally a hat person, but you can't even see my makeup now.

For the people that do wear hats, how do you wear hats and have it not mess up your makeup

on your forehead?

Or am I just wearing the hat too tight?

I'm so sporty!

I hope you guys enjoyed this video of me just doing my makeup like I did when I went to

Disney and talking about my trip so far.

We're also going to Universal I think tomorrow and the next day which I know for sure Universal

has Harry Potter themed areas of the park, so I'll definitely be vlogging some of that.

Either way, I will link the Disney vlog and these other vlogs down below in the description

box if you wanna check those out.

Make sure you like this video and let me know in the comments down below if you've ever

been to Disney World and what your favorite park is.

My favorites I think were definitely the Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and the Magic Kingdom, so

basically all of them, anyway.

Thank you so much for watching and I will see you guys in my next video, bye!

Episode 1138 | The Line: Native American Women Running For Office & An Unusual Lawsuit - Duration: 15:38.

>> WELCOME TO THE LINE.

A HISTORIC NUMBER OF NATIVE AMERICAN WOMEN ARE RUNNING FOR

ELECTIVE OFFICE AROUND THE COUNTRY, INCLUDING HERE IN NEW

MEXICO.

AND A 62ND CAMPAIGN AD IS AT THE CENTER OF AN UNUSUAL

LAWSUIT THAT IS PLAYING OUT IN TORRANCE COUNTY COURTS.

THESE ARE JUST TWO POLITICAL STORIES HITTING THE NEWS THIS

WEEK AND HERE TO TALK ABOUT THESE TOPICS AND OTHER

STORIES, I HAVE WITH ME LINE OPINION PANELISTS, LAURA

SANCHEZ-RIVET, SHE'S AN ATTORNEY AT CUDDY MCCARTHY,

LLP.

ANDY LYMAN IS HERE, A REPORTER FOR NM POLITICAL REPORTS,

MAJORITY WHIP DANIEL FOLEY IS WITH US AND MAR HUDETZ, A

REPORTER FOR THE ASSOCIATED PRESS.

LAURA, STARTING WITH YOU, THE TIMES ARTICLE OUT A FEW DAYS

AGO, NOT YET BEEN A NATIVE AMERICAN CONGRESSWOMAN AND

THERE ARE AT LEAST FOUR INDIGENOUS WOMEN RUNNING FOR

CONGRESS THIS YEAR, A LOT OF OTHER SEATS, DEB HOLLAND

RUNNING IN NEW MEXICO'S FIRST DISTRICT FEATURED PROMINENTLY

IN THE ARTICLE.

YOUR SENSE OF WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE.

THERE IS CLEARLY A RISE OF NATIVE WOMEN COMING INTO

POLITICS.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE BEGINNING OF THIS TO YOU?

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

>> I THINK IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME COMING.

I THINK THERE HAS BEEN LEADERSHIP EFFORTS IN NATIVE

CIRCLES FOR A WHILE NOW AND WE HAVE SEEN AN INCREASE AT THE

STATE LEGISLATIVE LEVELS, IN DIFFERENT STATES, AND HERE IN

NEW MEXICO IS THE SAME.

WE HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF FEMALE LEGISLATORS BEEN ELECTED ON

BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE AND SO I THINK THAT YOU SEE THAT SORT

OF PROGRESSING AND I THINK THAT ALONG WITH SOME OF THE

ANTITRUST SENTIMENT, THE REPUBLICAN PARTY TO A CERTAIN

EXTENT HAS PROBABLY INSPIRED SOME OF THE WOMEN THAT ARE NOW

RUNNING.

CERTAINLY, I THINK DEB HOLLAND HAS THAT KIND OF MESSAGE.

YOU KNOW, SHE WAS A PREVIOUS STATE PARTY CHAIR SO THAT GAVE

HER A PLATFORM, GAVE HER AN OPPORTUNITY TO KIND OF GET HER

NAME OUT THERE TO A CERTAIN EXTENT, BUT I DO THINK THERE

IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PREPRIMARY PROCESS, BECAUSE

THAT IS A LOT OF THE RANK AND FILE DEMOCRATS, THE REAL

ACTIVISTS AND PEOPLE IN THE ACTUAL PRIMARY, THE VOTERS.

I AM NOT SURE YET, I MEAN, POLLS ARE WHAT THEY ARE.

I HAVEN'T LOOKED AT ANY, BUT I WOULD EXPECT THERE IS PROBABLY

STILL A GAP IN TERMS OF HER NAME ID FROM YOUR AVERAGE

VOTER BUT WE HAVE SOME TIME FOR HER TO INCREASE.

>> GOOD FOUNDATION TO BUILD ON.

INTERESTINGLY, THERE HAS BEEN A LITTLE BIT OF PUSH BACK,

SOME FOLKS SAY, DESPITE HER EXPERIENCE RUNNING PARTY

MATTERS, THERE IS NOT A WHOLE LOT OF ELECTED OFFICE

EXPERIENCE BEHIND HER.

THAT HAS NEVER STOPPED ANYBODY BEFORE FROM RUNNING FOR

CONGRESS.

SHOULD IT BE AN ISSUE FOR HER OR ARE PEOPLE JUST SAYING SHE

IS HIDING BEHIND HER ETHNICITY.

SOME PEOPLE, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

YOU KNOW WHAT I AM GETTING AT.

IT SHOULDN'T MATTER.

>> IT IS UP TO THE VOTERS AT THE END OF THE DAY.

YEAH AND THE PRESS WILL COVER EVERY END OF IT, BUT, VOTERS

WILL DECIDE, AND SHE, I THINK, THERE IS A LOT OF ENTHUSIASM.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE POLLS SHOW BECAUSE THERE HASN'T BEEN

A TON OF POLLING YET.

HER FUND RAISING IS TOWARDS THE TOP OF THE PAC AND IT IS A

LARGE PAC IN THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY.

AND SO, I THINK THAT THE THINGS SHOW THERE IS SOME

ENTHUSIASM BEHIND HER CANDIDACY BUT THIS RACE IS

JUST NOW STARTING TO COME TO THE FOREFRONT, YOU KNOW, LIKE,

I THINK, WE ARE STARTING TO SEE A PIVOT TOWARD OUR

ATTENTION TOWARDS THE PRIMARIES.

SO, THIS IS ONE, I THINK, WE'LL REALLY START TO GET SOME

ANSWERS.

>> INTERESTINGLY, I MENTIONED ACROSS THE COUNTRY IN THIS NEW

YORK TIMES ARTICLE, 31 NATIVE WOMEN ARE RUNNING FOR

LEGISLATIVE SEATS.

THERE IS GOVERNOR'S OFFICES BEING RUN FOR, BUT A GOOD

NUMBER ARE ALSO ON THE CONSERVATIVE SIDE, NOT JUST

THE ME TOO MOVEMENT OR LEFT LEANING FOLKS.

IS THAT A GOOD SIGN FOR YOU THAT THERE IS SPECTRUMS, SO TO

SPEAK?

>> IN NEW MEXICO, FOR QUITE A WHILE, YOU KNOW, SOME OF THE

BIGGEST SUPPORTERS OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND

REPUBLICAN ISSUES HAVE BEEN NATIVE AMERICANS.

I THINK THIS IS A HUGE RACE IN NEW MEXICO, BECAUSE IF A

NATIVE AMERICAN CAN GET ELECTED ON THE DEMOCRAT SIDE

TO THE CONGRESSIONAL LEVEL, I THINK IT CAN REALLY THROW

THINGS IN DISARRAY IN NEW MEXICO WHEN IT COMES TO FUND

RAISING AND WORKING WITH NATIVE AMERICANS WHO HAVE BEEN

KIND OF TOWARDS THE FOREFRONT OF RAISING MONEY AND HELPING

GET OUT THE VOTE AND DO STUFF AND HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL

WITH THE REPUBLICANS.

>> WHAT WOULD BE THE TURBULENCE IN YOUR MIND?

>> I THINK IF YOU HAD A CONGRESSIONAL NATIVE AMERICAN

FROM NEW MEXICO, I THINK MONEY WOULD ALL BUT DRY UP TO THE

REPUBLICAN SIDE OF NEW MEXICO.

THAT SUPPORT WOULD PREDOMINANTLY GO TO WHERE THE

LEADER IS ASKING IT TO GO AND I THINK THAT COULD BE A HUGE

BLOW FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AND FOR RAISING MONEY AND

UTILIZING THAT MONEY TO GET OUT THE VOTE.

I AM SURPRISED THAT, YOU KNOW, WE ARE NOT TALKING AS WELL

ABOUT, WE HAVE A U.S. SENATOR WHO CLAIMS TO BE NATIVE

AMERICAN WHO IS NOT.

IT IS GOING TO BE INTERESTING TO SEE, YOU KNOW, WHAT HAPPENS

WHEN FOLKS ARE GETTING TO CONGRESS AND GETTING IN THERE

AND YOU HAVE ELIZABETH WARREN THAT SAYS, I AM THIS

PERCENTAGE NATIVE AMERICAN AND IT TURNS OUT NOW EVERYBODY IS

TELLING HER, IT IS NOT TRUE, AND YOU SHOULDN'T BE SAYING

THAT.

BUT I AM NOT SURPRISED THAT THERE IS A PUSH.

I MEAN, YOU LOOK AT THE PIPELINE ISSUE THAT HAS GONE

ON, NATIONAL ATTENTION, NATIVE AMERICAN ISSUES, GLOBAL

ATTENTION TO THEM, HAVE FAR BEEN IGNORED ACROSS THE

COUNTRY AND NATIVE AMERICAN ISSUES HAVE BEEN -- SOME OF

THEM WE TALKED ABOUT IN PLACES LIKE NEW MEXICO AND PLACES

WHERE YOU HAVE A BIG DOMINANT NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE AND

MORE IMPORTANTLY, WHEN USUALLY IT SEEMS TO BE, THEY HAVE

SOMETHING THAT EVERYBODY ELSE WANTS, RIGHT, WHEN THEY HAVE

OIL AND GAS, OR THEY HAVE LAND THAT PEOPLE WANT, OTHERWISE IT

IS JUST KIND OF NOT SOMETHING THAT IS IN THE FOREFRONT BUT

WITH THE PIPELINE ISSUE THAT IT REALLY ELEVATED A LOT OF

THOSE FOLKS TO THE FOREFRONT AND A LOT OF THOSE ISSUES TO

THE FOREFRONT AND MADE NATIONAL ISSUES.

>> LET ME POSIT THIS TO YOU.

MY LAST INDICATION WAS THE AMOUNT OF NATIVE AMERICANS OR

NAVAJO FOLKS SPECIFICALLY LIVING OFF THE RESERVATION BUT

LIVING HERE IN BERNALILLO COUNTY WAS AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT

OF FOLKS AND I HAVE TO IMAGINE THAT WOULD BE A VERY APPEALING

THING TO HAVE SOMEBODY AS REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE FIRST

CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT LOOKING OUT FOR THEIR INTEREST,

BASICALLY, IN A WAY NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE FOR NATIVE

AMERICAN FOLKS LIVING IN THE URBAN PART OF OUR STATE.

WOULD YOU AGREE WITH THAT?

INTERESTING WRINKLE.

>> I THINK THAT IS PROBABLY TRUE.

I THINK THERE IS PROBABLY A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT WOULD NOT

BE REPRESENTED OTHERWISE IF THEY WERE LIVING NOT IN THE

METROPOLITAN AREA AND NOW THEY SEE SOMEBODY WHO THEY CAN

RELATE TO, OR HOPEFULLY, THEY CAN RELATE TO THE

CONSTITUENTS, SO, YEAH, I THINK --

>> INFLUENCE WITH THE BIA, INFLUENCE WITH OTHER ISSUES

ABOUT HEALTHCARE, IT COULD BE AN ENORMOUS THING WHEN YOU

REALLY THINK ABOUT IT.

>> YEAH.

>> MARY MENTIONED THE RACE AS IT STANDS NOW IN THE FIRST

CONGRESSIONAL RACE, IT IS A TOUGH ONE.

THERE IS A LOT OF QUALIFIED WOMEN, NOT EVEN JOKING ABOUT

IT, THAT COULD BE REALLY DIFFICULT RACE FOR DEB

HOLLAND.

HOW DO YOU SEE THE RACE SHAPING UP, TALKING ABOUT THE

FIRST CONGRESSIONAL RACE?

BROADEN IT OUT.

>> THERE IS SIX CANDIDATES ON THE DEMOCRAT SIDE AND ONE ON

THE REPUBLICAN SIDE.

AND, ON THE DEMOCRAT SIDE, THEY JUST -- WE JUST HAD

PREPRIMARY CONVENTION A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AND THE TWO WOMEN

THAT WERE RUNNING FOR THAT SEAT DEB HOLLAND AND

ANTOINETTE SEDILLO LOPEZ WERE FAR AND AWAY THE FRONT

RUNNERS, REALLY, ESPECIALLY DEB TOOK 35% OF THE VOTE AT

THE PREPRIMARY CONVENTION IN THAT DISTRICT.

IN A SIX-WAY RACE THAT IS IKE LANDSLIDE.

ANTOINETTE TOOK 25%, A LARGE AMOUNT.

THE REST OF THEM DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE 20% THRESHOLD.

THEY HAD TO GO BACK TO VOTERS AND GET MORE SIGNATURES.

THE REST OF THE PAC HAS -- THERE IS VARYING DEGREES OF

NAME ID.

PAT DAVIS, A CURRENT CITY COUNCILMAN, HE HAS SOME

POSITIVES BUT ALSO NEGATIVES WITH REGARD TO HIS VOTE AND

HIS POSITION WITH THE ARTS PROJECT.

ANOTHER ONE IS DAMON MARTINEZ WHO HAS NAME ID AS FORMER U.S.

ATTORNEY FOR THIS DISTRICT, FOR NEW MEXICO.

AND THEN THERE IS A COUPLE OTHERS THAT ARE IN THE MIX

THAT HAVE MUCH LESS NAME ID, THAT I THINK WILL

HAVE A TOUGHER GO OF IT.

SO, WE'RE ROUGHLY TWO-AND-A-HALF MONTHS AWAY

FROM THE PRIMARY.

WE ARE REALLY GOING TO SEE, I THINK, A LOT OF INCREASED

MEDIA ATTENTION AT THIS POINT, PAID MEDIA IN PARTICULAR, AND

THOSE THAT HAVE RAISED MONEY, I THINK WILL START TO GET

HIGHER NAME ID, BUT, AGAIN, I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY POLLS.

I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS A LOT OF POLLING DONE.

IF THERE HAS, THEY HAVEN'T SHARED THEM PUBLICLY.

THAT MAY MEAN WHOEVER DID THE POLL ISN'T HAPPY WITH THE

RESULTS.

BUT I THINK SHE HAS GOT OPPORTUNITY FOR IT.

SHE DEFINITELY HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET NAME ID UP

THERE BUT HAS TO SHOW THE POLICY --

>> ANOTHER TOPIC UP TOP WHERE ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL ARTICLE

THIS WEEK DETAILS THE UNUSUAL LEGAL DISPUTE OVER A 60 SECOND

RADIO AD INVOLVING TWO CANDIDATES NOT EVEN RUNNING

FOR THE SAME OFFICE.

THAT CASE WAS PLAYING OUT THIS MONTH IN COURT.

YOU WROTE ABOUT THIS LAWSUIT WHEN FIRST FILED THIS SUMMER.

GIVE US BACKGROUND ON WHAT IS GOING ON AND THE PLAYERS

INVOLVED.

>> YEAH.

SO WHEN IT WAS FIRST FILED, WELL, IT IS FILED BY CURRENT

LAND COMMISSIONER AUBREY DUNN AGAINST THE CANDIDATE FOR LAND

COMMISSIONER, AND WHEN IT WAS FILED AUBREY DUNN HAD NOT

ANNOUNCED WHAT HE WAS GOING TO DO.

SO IT WAS IS HE GOING TO RUN, ESPECIALLY WHEN HE FILED THE

LAWSUIT, THERE WAS SOME QUESTIONS, IS HE TRYING TO

DEFEND HIS SPOT HERE, BUT ULTIMATELY IT CAME OVER SOME

RADIO ADS FROM THE CANDIDATE, GARRETT VENEKLASEN WHO IMPLIED

THAT AUBREY DUNN WAS -- DID SOME SORT OF MOVE TO SET

HIMSELF UP FINANCIALLY WITH A POWER LINE THROUGH A RANCH

THAT HE OWNS.

THAT IS THE BACKGROUND OF IT.

>> OSTENSIBLY THE DUNNS HAD BOUGHT THE RANCH AND THE

ACCUSATION IS THEY BOUGHT IT KNOWING THAT THIS POWER LINE

WOULD GO THROUGH IT AND HE STOOD TO GAIN FINANCIALLY FROM

IT AND DUNNS ARE DENYING EVERYTHING.

IT IS INTERESTING HOW THIS DEFAMATION SUIT THOUGH.

DEFAMATION IS A TOUGH THING TO DEFEND OR PROVE, I SHOULD SAY,

AND THE JUDGE INVOLVED HAS SAID THE SAME THING, HE SAID,

YOU KNOW, THERE IS A THRESHOLD HAS TO BE MET.

>> IT GOES BACK TO THE FIRST AMENDMENT AND THEN ESPECIALLY

POLITICAL SPEECH, POLITICAL ADS ARE PRETTY WELL COVERED

UNDER THAT.

I THINK THE RADIO AD IS REALLY CAREFUL TO WORD THINGS AND

IMPLY THINGS, IF YOU GO BACK AND LISTEN TO THE WAY THE AD

SAYS THING, I THINK AT ONE POINT GARRETT VENEKLASEN SAYS,

COINCIDENCE, NAH.

SO HE DOES KIND OF THROW SOME ACCUSATIONS BUT NOT SUPER

DIRECTLY.

>> AND THE COURT HEARING, OF COURSE, NOT OF COURSE, BUT HE

SAID, I WASN'T TALKING ABOUT HIM DIRECTLY, I WAS TALKING

ABOUT ALL POLITICIANS HAVE A WAY TO GREASE THEMSELVES.

THESE KIND OF RACES DON'T GET THIS HOT.

WHAT DO YOU ATTRIBUTE THIS TO; THE PERSONALITIES INVOLVED?

>> THE LAND USE RACE HAS GOTTEN PRETTY HOT LAST FEW

CYCLES.

BACK IN THE 80'S AND EARLY 90'S IT WAS JUST, SO,

SOMETIMES YOU COULDN'T EVEN FIND A CANDIDATE TO RUN FOR

IT.

ONCE PAT LYONS WON IT AND IT WAS ONE OF THE FEW SEATS THAT

REPUBLICANS COULD WIN STATE-WIDE, IT GOT A LOT OF

ATTENTION FROM REPUBLICANS AND THERE IS A PUSH TO KEEP THAT

SEAT.

IT HAS ALSO BEEN A REAL PUSH BY BOTH PARTIES, BECAUSE IT

MEANS SOMETHING WHEN YOU START TO GO AFTER THE PERMANENT FUND

TO HAVE THE STATE LAND COMMISSION COME IN AND SAY,

THIS IS WHAT YOU'RE DOING, THIS IS WHAT THE FORECASTS

ARE.

SO MUCH OF THAT MONEY COMES -- I AM NOT SURPRISED THIS HAS

GOTTEN TO WHERE IT HAS BEEN, I MEAN, YOU LOOK -- I THINK THAT

AUBREY DUNN IS RUNNING FOR THE U.S. SENATE, YOU KNOW, I THINK

HE IS LIVING BY THE ADAGE THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS BAD

MEDIA, JUST SPELL YOUR NAME RIGHT, YOU KNOW, I THINK THE

GETTING OUT THERE AND TAKING THIS ON IS NOT A SURPRISE, I

MEAN, HIS SON IS DEFENDING AND HIS SON IS HIS OWN ATTORNEY.

HIS SON IS RUNNING FOR OFFICE AS WELL.

SO, I THINK THAT THERE IS A GOOD PUSH BY THE LIBERTARIANS

TO SAY, LOOK, THIS IS ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO GET OUT

THERE.

I DO THINK IT IS INTERESTING THAT IT SORT OF, YOU KNOW, IT

KIND OF FLIES IN THE FACE OF LIBERTARIAN AND LESS

GOVERNMENT THAT ONE OF THE LEADING GUYS IS TALKING ABOUT,

YOU KNOW, SQUASHING SOMEONE'S ABILITY TO SAY SOMETHING.

AT THE END, WHEN YOU'RE AN ELECTED OFFICIAL, THE ABILITY

TO PROVE DEFAMATION, IS ALMOST UNATTAINABLE.

IT LITERALLY IS ALMOST UNATTAINABLE.

>> PROOF OF MALICE, OF COURSE, YOU KNOW WHAT THE JUDGE WAS

SAYING, LOOK, YOU KNOW, THERE ARE BIGGER ISSUES, ONE OF THEM

BEING FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS AND SPEECH ISSUES.

WHAT WAS YOUR SENSE OF THAT WHERE THE JUDGE WAS COMING

FROM HERE?

>> YEAH, THE JUDGE, I THINK WAS CERTAINLY UNDERSCORING THE

LAW AND HISTORY AND WHAT DAN SAID.

THE FIRST AMENDMENT GIVES THE PRESS OR PEOPLE, THE PUBLIC IN

GENERAL, JUST LIKE US, UNBELIEVABLE WIDE LATITUDE TO

SAY AND TO CRITICIZE AND TO POKE AND TO SEE, YOU KNOW,

THIS IS PART OF OUR DEMOCRATIC PROCESS.

YOU KNOW, IT IS NOT -- EVEN THAT SAID, I MEAN, IT IS UP TO

THE VOTERS TO DECIDE, LIKE, THEY WANT WHAT SORT OF

CAMPAIGN, YOU KNOW, WHAT THEY WANT TO BELIEVE, WHAT NOT.

BUT THERE IS JUST INCREDIBLE FREEDOM AND HE WAS CITING THAT

LANDMARK LAWSUIT AS WELL.

>> THAT GOES BACK AND SET THAT PRECEDENT.

PICK UP ON THAT PROOF OF MALICE THING BY MR.

DUNN.

VERY HARD THING TO PROVE.

I AM CURIOUS, WHY HE WOULD DO THIS KNOWING THAT A THRESHOLD

WAS PROBABLY DIFFICULT TO GET TO, DO YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?

IS A HARD ONE.

>> THERE IS A LOT OF REASONS WHY PEOPLE ENGAGE IN

LITIGATION.

SOMETIMES IT IS NOT ALWAYS FOR AUTHENTIC REASONS IN TERMS OF

ISSUES.

CERTAINLY WHAT DAN SAID IN TERMS OF THE NAME ID AND

GETTING THE PRESS IS A FACTOR.

THE FACTS THAT YOU DON'T NECESSARILY NEED TO PAY FOR AN

OUTSIDE ATTORNEY IF YOU HAVE YOUR SON DOING IT, THAT MIGHT

BE A FACTOR.

I DON'T KNOW.

I WILL SAY THIS MUCH, THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF, YOU KNOW, I

CERTAINLY SUPPORT THE FIRST AMENDMENT BUT IT IS AN EXAMPLE

OF ONCE AGAIN A CANDIDATE MAKING OUTLANDISH CLAIMS AND

THE PUBLIC NOT HAVING THE ABILITY TO BACK CHECK THAT AND

THAT MAKES IT REALLY, FOR ME, FRUSTRATING BECAUSE WHEN I

HEAR THAT AD, I MEAN, I KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF

ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS SUPPORTING VENEKLASEN AND

ENVIRONMENTALISTS IN GENERAL BUT THERE ARE ALSO A LOT OF

ENVIRONMENTALISTS THAT WORKED ON THAT SANDIA LINE AND WORKED

HARD FOR MANY YEARS.

I DID MYSELF WHEN I WAS WITHIN RDC IN ENSURING THERE WAS A

FULL RECORD IN TERMS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL SITING THAT WENT

ALONG WITH WHERE THAT LINE WOULD GO.

AND TO SUGGEST ANY ONE RANCHER CAN DETERMINE WHAT AN ENTIRE

MULTISTATE PROCESS THAT WENT THROUGH NEPA, FEDERAL LAW, AND

HAD THOUSANDS OF COMMENTS AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION, IT JUST

SORT OF FLIES IN THE FACE OF LIKE, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND

WHAT THIS PROCESS IS. AND ALSO THE SANDIA LINE, ONE

OF THE REASONS A LOT OF ENVIRONMENTALISTS WERE

INTERESTED IN IT AS WAS SENATOR HEINRICH AND OTHERS,

IT IS SUPPOSED TO BRING RENEWABLE ENERGY FROM NEW

MEXICO TO MARKET IN ARIZONA.

AND, THAT SAME AD WHERE HE BASICALLY, ON THE ONE HAND

SAYS SOMEHOW AUBREY DUNN HAD A SAY IN WHERE THE LINE WAS

SITED, AND AT THE END SAYS, I WANT TO WORK ON BRINGING

RENEWABLE ENERGY TO NEW MEXICO, IT IS LIKE, OH MY

GOSH, DOES ANYBODY WHO ACTUALLY UNDERSTANDS RENEWABLE

ENERGY LISTENS TO THAT OR -- >> IT IS A TRANSMISSION LINE

TO GET POWER OUT OF OUR STATE.

WE HAVE WANTED THIS FOR A DECADE.

>> IT HAS BEEN OVER A DECADE THAT THE LINE HAS BEEN ON THE

DRAWING BOARD.

AND, SO, IT IS VERY DISINGENUOUS FOR THE CANDIDATE

TO TAKE THIS ISSUE ON WITHOUT HAVING REAL FACTS.

>> WE'LL SEE WHAT COMES OF THIS.

GOOD REPORTING ANDY.

REALLY INTERESTING TO READ AND WHEN WE COME BACK, WE'LL HAVE

AN UPDATE ON REFORMS IN THE ALBUQUERQUE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

Chelsea worry for Conte as 'fatigued' Christensen is sent back by Denmark

CHELSEA could have been dealt a huge blow after Andreas Christensen was sent home for being too tired and lacking fitness from international duty.

The defender has become one of the first names of Antonio Contes team-sheet this campaign.

Antonio Conte has a huge worry over defender Andreas Christensen.

Christensen joined up with the Denmark squad this week for their friendly clashes against Chile and Sweden ahead of this summers World Cup.

But the 21-year-old has been sent back to Stamford Bridge over concerns of fatigue.

Danish boss Age Hareide said: "Andreas Christensen has been sent home to London.

"We do not want to take any risks with him.

Denmark have sent the star back to Chelsea after deeming him too fatigued for international duty.

The Blues will now be sweating over his fitness as they prepare for a crunch few weeks.

"We have called up Peter Ankersen and Lasse Nielsen, so we are adequately covered in defence.

"I cannot say exactly what is wrong with Christensen, but it is a little fatigue.

"It's not serious, but it can be.

It is a bit frustrating because we would have liked to trial him in both central defence and as a defensive midfielder.".

Not only is the news bad for Christensen but it will have Conte worried too.

The Blues face a crunch month ahead as they aim to secure a top four place plus FA Cup success.

They tackle Tottenham, who are currently five points ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea, in their first game back after the international break.

Then later in April they face Southampton at Wembley in the cup semi-final.

Andreas Christensen will now miss Denmarks two friendly matches over the next week.

Antonio Conte is preparing his side to face Tottenham next weekend.

Christensen has played 36 matches for Contes men after being promoted to the first-team squad last summer.

The centre-back had previously impressed during a two-year loan spell with German side Borussia Monchengladbach.

The star has won 14 caps for his country and scored once.

And remember, you can claim a free £30 bet with Sun Bets when you sign up put a tenner on this weekends football here.

Players Chelsea, Palace, Everton and Huddersfield should sign this summer.

#Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud admits frustration over lack of goals since joining from Arsenal - Duration: 3:08.

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud admits frustration over lack of goals since joining from Arsenal

OLIVIER GIROUD admits he is frustrated with his start to life at Chelsea.

The big striker moved across London to Stamford Bridge for £18million to enhance his chances of making the French World Cup squad.

Olivier Giroud is not happy with goal return since joining Chelsea.

Giroud reckons the switch has so far not gone to plan – the 31-year-old has scored just once in eight games for the champions in the FA Cup win at home to Hull.

The French international is preparing for Les Bleus double-header against Columbia and Russia thinks he is playing well, but knows strikers a judged by goals.

He told L'Equipe: "Im happy with how Ive adapted, the welcome I got and my relationship with my team-mates.

"But I should have had more goals.

Giroud only Chelsea goal was against Hull in FA Cup.

Olivier Girpuid is preparing for Les Bleus games against Columbia and Russia.

"Im very attached to statistics and I remain stuck at one goal and three assists in five starts.

"Its clear thats not enough.

But the content of my game is very encouraging.".

"You have to be demanding of yourself, If I signed for Chelsea, it was to experience a new challenge.

I knew there was going to be a lull.".

Giroud who spent six years at Arsenal admits moving clubs mid-season is never easy, especially after a six-week injury lay-off.

He continued: "When you sign like that in January, its never easy because you have to acclimatise yourself to the team.

"But I wanted to be ready straight away, even though I was coming back from six weeks of injury.

It was a little paradoxical.

"The coach started me in the second game and made me comfortable.

It went very well.

Its true I played some poor matches, but the content of my game has been very encouraging.".

Giroud will get the chance to add to his Chelsea tally after the international break when Spurs visit Stamford Bridge on April 1.

Players Chelsea, Palace, Everton and Huddersfield should sign this summer.

AGWA CuratorTV DISSENTING VOICES - Duration: 3:55.

*jazzy background music*

Welcome to Curator TV.

I'm Jenepher Duncan, the curator of contemporary Australian art at the Art Gallery of Western Australia,

and the curator of Dissenting Voices which is drawn primarily from the State Art Collection,

and includes major works from the Curious Thirds collection.

I have to admit to a preference for art the relates meaningfully to real life,

and to political issues and event, social concerns.

And I also wanted to show the breadth and depth and diversity of the State Art Collection,

which has produced some wonderful works around this particular theme of Dissenting Voices.

The start of the show really was for me realizing that we had a major by Peter Kennedy.

We have in our collection an extraordinary banner that he created in 1977,

in response to the dismissal of the Whitlam government in 1975.

So that was really the sort of origin of my thinking about

"well there must be other works of equal importance in the collection."

Tony Coleing, in 1982, exhibited a series called "Recent Wars," of 5 paintings up in Brisbane,

to show the artist's response to recent wars.

We have "Rejoice Rejoice," which is the Falklands War.

That was the term used by Margaret Thatcher when the Gen Belgrano sank during the Argentinian War, or the Falklands War.

And then we have "Black September," which is about Lebanon,

and a massacre that occurred in that month, September, in 1982,

between the Phalangists and other factions of society there.

And "Afghanistan," which is in fact a well known carpet design of the Tree of Life,

over which the artist has imposed images of a combination of

John Bull and Uncle Sam marching across the carpet.

Goya's "Disasters of War" was printed well after his death,

because of the confrontational nature of the imagery.

Goya's not so much concerned with the story or the narrative,

so much as the human condition to man's inhumanity to men.

But, contemporary artists are a lot more self conscious in the way they use imagery.

So you can see the difference between Marco Fusinato's "The Infinitive No. 2,"

and his use of sort of global imagery from newspapers there,

as opposed to the way Goya was approaching how to depict the human condition.

The role of the artist is to reflect society back to itself,

by reinterpreting and critiquing what's going on, the events that drive contemporary history.

I hope this short introduction to Dissenting Voices has demonstrated

that across generations, countries, and cultures the artists that we've talked about

can assert the relevance of their art through engagement with sociopolitical issues of their time,

from the history of Australian art and the role of Aboriginal dispossession,

to universal truths about human conflict, the experience of gender and racial inequity,

and the geopolitics of nationhood.
