Hey guys welcome to Eye Stocker, I'm Criss and today I will review a new action camera.
I got it from F64 Romania, the biggest camera gear store in south eastern Europe.
The action camera is called ACME VR301, it's a nice 4k camera, it has a great price and
built quality for what it can do.
In fact I'll demonstrate this in the following minutes so let's begin.
I have some photos and short movies to show you, taken with this camera, we're gonna
have a look at the different resolutions, functions and of course I have a short time
lapse to show you as well.
But first, let's take a quick look at the accesorries that come with this action camera.
I was really surprised to see so many accesorries in the pack and this for me is a positive
thing.
Usually when buying other expensive action cameras you need to spend some more money
if you want more accessories and this could really become a problem if you have a limited budget.
The grown ups and especially the kids will be very happy to be able to mount this camera
on the bicycle handle.
The mount is solid and stable which is again a big plus, you shouldn't have to worry
at all.
Just like for other action cameras you'll be able to easily attach the ACME camera on
the helmet if you are riding a bicycle or skiing for example, so you'll find 2 different
mounts in the pack.
The tripod mounts are available as well if you need them, and 2 great things which should
be mentioned here are the underwater protective case and the remote control which is so important.
The underwater protective case works really well, I made a successful test with it by sinking it into
a creek and had no issues at all.
On the other hand the remote control is small and so easy to use.
It's already paired with the camera, you don't need to turn it on, it works with
a single battery and you have two buttons available, one is to take photos and the other
one to record videos.
Of course, you have some included straps if you want to wear the remote on your hand,
for an easier control if the camera is on your helmet for example.
The usb cable is used to charge your camera, a good thing again because you're not required
to take out the battery.
The charging can be made from any usb port from your laptop or PC, or using the wall
plug available in the accesory pack.
Thumbs up as well for the 2 inch LCD screen on the back which is bright enough to see
what you're recording in daylight.
The control buttons are easy to access and they are very simmilar to the ones from a
much more expensive GoPro camera.
The on and off button is located on the front of the camera and it's also used for switching
the functions, the capture button is on the top as usual and on the right side of the
camera there are 2 buttons, one for menu navigation and the other one for the wi-fi connection,
which we will talk about more in a second.
The left side of the camera has 1 micro USB and 1 micro HDMI ports, a microphone, a speaker
which to be honest is not too loud and of course 1 mini SD card slot.
At the bottom, there is this small door that you need to open to reach the battery if you
really need to take it out.
The camera is capable of 5 resolutions: 720p @ 120 fps for smooth and buttery slow motion
1080p @ 30 fps
1080p @ 60 fps which also can be slowed down in post production
2.7k @ 30 fps
And 4k @ 25 fps
Here is some footage at different resolutions and if you want to see a 4k test, you'll
find a link down in the description.
The battery should last about 90 minutes if you are recording in 1080p and 50 minutes
if you are using the 4k resolution.
For the Wi-Fi connection, you just have to press this button and connect to the camera's
network without any password using your phone.
Then, you open the EZ iCam app available for both Android and iOS devices.
The coolest option available in the app is the ability to go live on Facebook and Youtube
with the ACME VR301 camera.
This is the first time when I see this option for a sport camera and I'm sure that the
170 degrees wide angle lens will bring a unique feeling to your live session.
The camera sensor is able take 12 mp photos and that's a good thing because you can
obtain high resolution time lapses with shot intervals between 2 and 60 seconds.
For this time lapse, I used 3 seconds between the shots and from my point of view, the camera
obtained a good result.
So who is this camera for?
I would personally recommend it on vacations as a fun camera, in skateparks, when cycling
and I think the kids will definitely enjoy it because this camera is very easy to handle,
you don't need to tweak the settings, you just take out the camera and you start shooting photos and record videos.
If you wonder how much this camera will cost, well, I think it will vary between 70 to 130 dolars.
And by the way if you are new here make sure you check out the card on the screen right now or the
tutorials in the description on how to edit a time lapse movie or slow motion videos in
Premiere Pro.
