Youtube daily report May 23 2018

- The Android P public beta has been out for a week or two.

I've been playing with it, you've been playing with it,

and you already know that there's a bunch of gestures

that you use to get around the OS but here's a question,

is swiping really that much better

than just pushing a button?

I'm not gonna at the end of this video come down on

'They're the best, they're great, you should love them,'

or 'Nah, they suck, they're terrible.'

There's plenty of articles about that,

instead I wanna look at why I think

Google decided to go with gestures and swiping

instead of just tapping buttons on the bottom.

These gestures are important

honestly because they just feel different,

and I know that's really floofy and soft and whatever

but you're affective relationship with the phone

changes when you are swiping around

instead of just tapping a button

and for Android in particular, that tactility,

that tangible direct interaction

is part of the philosophy of the design

of the operating system.

For a few years now,

we've had this thing called material design

and the stuff on your screen

should be sort of like magic paper

that you slide around and move

and there's something sitting on top of the other thing

and by switching to this gesture system,

you start moving that paper around

instead of tapping a button and having it move itself

and that just feels more direct,

it feels more, like I said before, human.

When I say it's more human, I mean that kind of literally.

When you move something around in the physical world,

you're actually moving a thing through space

and your brain thinks spatially in a lot of ways.

When you tap an icon, it's like a if, this, then, that,

sort of programmatic thing that just happens

but when you actually move a card

or move a piece of UI on the screen,

it feels to your lizard monkey brain

like you're moving a thing on a table

and it just feels a little bit more natural

and a little bit easier to understand

in this intuitive sense

even though I hate the word intuitive and UI,

but we can come back to that in a whole other video.

Before we get too deep into this,

there are a couple of caveats

that are actually really important to mention.

The first is I'm testing this on a Pixel Two XL

and so what we see here might be slightly different

than what you see on other Android phones

when it's eventually released.

Number two, this beta's not that good.

It's kinda hard to show on camera

but you know it when you feel it,

it's some combination of animation, speed, and physics.

On this beta it just feels off.

It's not even as good as what I experienced

when I used it on Google's campus the week before IO,

that might've been a different build, I'm not sure.

Anyway, enough caveats, let's get into it.

If we're talking major new functionality with these gestures

on the Pixel I think there's two that are really important.

When you have an app open,

you have one gesture access

to a really important thing in the overview screen.

When you swipe up real quick,

you have these predictive apps at the bottom

which are really accurate, I use them all the time now

and you also get the Google search bar which is a big deal,

you just swipe up tap and then you can keep typing

and you'll get something that you want

and in Android P, it's actually gonna be way more powerful

with those actions and slices,

and so, you don't have to think about

where that search bar is,

you can just start typing

and you'll end up with what you want way faster than before.

Now if you're an Android person,

I know what you're thinking,

'Yo, Dieter, the square button does that just fine'

'in the beta, you don't need the swipe to do that.'

You're not wrong, you're totally right,

but there are some other reasons

that this gesture interface is more efficient.

The first is you can just fat finger it,

you don't have to hit the home button exactly.

You can swipe up from

pretty much anywhere at the bottom of the screen

to get to this new overview screen or the new gestures.

The second thing is no matter what app you're in,

you can swipe all the way up

and you'll get to your full app drawer,

so you have instant access to all of your apps

instead of hitting home then swiping up for the app drawer,

it saves you a step.

And then third, most importantly,

there's this lozenge home button thing

and you can just swipe it over to the right

to switch to your last app,

same as double tapping the score button,

or you can drag it over

and kind of jam through in a little scrolling action

your recent apps and then let go to jump to an earlier app,

it doesn't have to be the last one,

it can be like the one you used three or four apps ago

and it's a much faster way to get to those.

So that's my basic overview of why I think

gestures in Android P could be better

than what we had before,

but we should talk about the elephant in the room

and that elephant is named iPhone 10.

So the big question here with the iPhone 10 is

did Android P just steal all the gestures from the iPhone

and I have to admit, there are some similarities,

so you swipe up to get to the overview screen

and you can just sort of swipe over to the right

on the bottom to switch between recent apps

and that's very, very similar,

but there are some differences.

The first, the thing I haven't really mentioned yet is

on Android P, you tap the home button to go home

and so they're mixing metaphors

whereas the iPhone is a little bit more consistent.

The other thing is that Android has more spaces.

It has an app drawer in addition to a home screen

whereas the iPhone just has a home screen so

I don't think it's fair to say

they exactly stole this from the iPhone 10.

If we're gonna talk about stealing gestures and swipes,

we should really talk about this other phone,

Palm Pre.

So I know you've been waiting for it,

for the moment when Dieter talks about

webOS and the Palm Pre.

Well, fans, mobile accomplishers,

here it is, I'm gonna talk about webOS again.

So, look, there's a lot of stuff that webOS did

that's very similar to what Android does

and what the iPhone 10 does.

You swipe up to go to a multitasking screen.

You swipe up again to go to all of your apps.

You can from this overview screen,

just start typing and do a search,

just like you can on Android P.

There's a lot of stuff that's very, very similar

and that's just borrowed,

but there's stuff that was different on webOS

that we don't see here at all

so webOS was really into this idea of cards

and they would be grouped together

and they'd be organized spatially

instead of just most recently and

there's some benefits to that but also some drawbacks

and we don't need to get into all of that.

To me, the point is that

they're just borrowing ideas form each other

and I don't think it's really stealing,

it's just that they're certain tools in UI

and like you pick some and you try and make them your own

and in particular I just think that swiping

is kind of a trend and user interface goes through trends.

It changes over time and people borrow from each other and

that's not the end of the world.

(light electronic music)

Alright, so, having looked at webOS,

miss you buddy, and the iPhone 10,

what do we think about gestures on Android P?

Well, there's two things

that everybody's really talking about.

One I don't care about, one I'm super worried about.

The thing I don't care that much about

is the mixing in metaphors.

I get that you still have to tap the home button,

I get that the back button still shows up, but,

you know what, we're not building a zen garden here,

we're making a functional phone OS and we're smart people

and we can figure that out, so that's not the problem.

The real thing that's gonna be troubling is

they have to nail the animation and the smoothness because

if you're swiping around and moving stuff

and it feels janky,

literally one of the description of the beta

on Google's one webpage is that there's a lot of jank,

if it feels janky this thing is going to fail massively.

They have to get it right and there's no in between.

Either it's gonna be a disaster

or it's gonna be actually a really surprisingly cool success

because there is that extra functionality

that I've been talking about.

So, that's it, I think the gestures could be great,

I can't make a final judgment yet,

but the bottom line is they have to nail the feel of it

but if they do pull it off, it's gonna feel great.

Hey everybody, thank you so much for watching.

I wanna know, how would you set up gestures on Android

if you could just do whatever you wanted.

Let me know in the comments

and then head over to this video by Eater,

it's The Kitchen Gadget show and I actually really love it.

They just did an episode on

whether or not the Instant Pot is worth it,

you should check it out.

Uginanie Zottmana.Uginanie sztangi.Uginanie sztangi leżąc.Uginanie ramienia ze sztangielką w siadzie – podpora o kolano.Uginanie na biceps.Uginanie sztangi z szerokim chwytem.Podciąganie

Te ćwiczenia pozwolą ci wzmocnić i rozwinąć biceps. Dodatkowo możesz dodać nieco różnorodności do treningu poprzez zwiększenie obciążenia, robienia większej ilości powtórzeń, więcej serii czy zmniejszanie czasu, który poświęcasz na odpoczynek między seriami.

Wszystko to pozwoli ci osiągnąć niezwykłe efekty.

Podczas obniżania sztangi, ręce wracają do pozycji równoległej.

Ostatnie siedem powtórzeń to wykonanie pełnego ruchu.

Utrzymuj proste plecy, a chwyt ustaw nieco szerzej niż twoje ramiona.

Jose Rivera Jr.'s #MyYoungerSelf - Duration: 1:55.

- Hi there, my name is Jose Rivera Jr,

and I am a singer, songwriter, director, and choreographer

living in Brooklyn, New York.

I grew up with severe body dysmorphia and dysphoria,

and I always equate it to looking in a fun-house mirror.

And I looked at my frame, my shape and my size,

and I was like pretty average kid,

maybe a little bit chubby,

but I really saw myself as just worthless trash

that did not deserve to be loved without change.

It's really only through talking to both my friends,

my family, and a clinical psychologist that I was able

to take a step back and really be with everything

that I was feeling.

It wasn't like a quick fix, like oh,

everything is all fine, everything is sunshine and rainbows

all of a sudden, no, it took hard work and a big commitment

to bettering myself, and a commitment to allowing myself

to hear the words of my psychologist.

And knowing that I was not the only person

that had experienced this,

gosh, what a relief.

We can make it through every single day and we can

feel whole even with a single part of us

that might have made us feel really really terrible,

we can still live with it and we can still,

still give everything that we are.

Controlroom S - Verlaten staalfabriek met grote controlekamer. - Duration: 18:36.

This powerful control room is part of a steel company that is still operating on the site.

It is part of an unused part of this plant,

that of the demolition remains spared because of its important position in industrial history.

The buildings date from 1901 and the whole trade has been modernized and moved to nearby hangars on the domain.

When that happened, we were not really clear, but so it was important to watch out for surveillance here.

It looks like we're come close to the control room.

Come, we're going up the stairs!

Sturdy stairs!

Yes, decent staircase.

So move!

It's not the control room we're looking for, but it's already there.

So old!

There is another flight of stairs.

Ampères, and it's about kilo-amperes.

I'm not going to wipe it, because then the beauty is gone. </ p >

1000 amperes?

You can not imagine that, at 0.250 amps you are dead.

There is nothing to see above.

Do you think ?

You can see it from here.

Inside is still something, where is my treasure?

Because Kurt could not join today, Tatti had to only keep waiting when it got too dangerous.

And she did not like that!

Are you going even further up?

No, do you?

And it goes even higher there.

There is a step.

I think we should be back.

I really like these kind of locations. </ P>

Ik hou echt van verlaten staalfabrieken.

And this is a gem.

We'll be able to continue here.

We think this is a kind of oven.

This is probably the door of the oven,

They could do it up with the pulleys there.

Look, what a typical staircase!

The real old stairs of the past.

A nice kick there!

I just filmed it, beautiful.

You just can not.

Still , via here.

What a beautiful staircase, just like the one in Haarlem.

Is it sturdy?

He already misses a few steps.

p>

Get on with it!

Then we can see if it's sturdy enough.

It looks like a French toilet here.

Here the electricity cables came in.

How high can we go?

Is that a piece of the oven?

No idea.

I think hot air was blown through those holes

The cabin!

It's not that high.

Not at all, are you coming?

Come on, we're going in!

Somewhere has to be here that control room.

There, I see them.

I think I'll see them.

It could be that she's there. </ p >

Are you coming now?

Yes, that is not so high.

Here it is deep.

That's going down a bit .

And what is there?

Come on, then we go!

Where are you going?

We are now in the cabin of the crane,

but it is not very interesting here,

What a primitive operation, that is probably forward, backward, left and right,

and then up and down here, and then operate something else.

The workshop.

What is that?

An old screw bench.

Very old!

This is beautiful!

Here those people were sitting before they started working.

Their work shoes are still here .

Here we have another room.

Come here!

Come here, here you can do it!

Have you found them? </ P>

Attention, Attention, working in & apos; & apos; sector 5 & apos;! </ P>

There is an alarm in & apos; sector 5 & apos;. </ P>

No, it is not true. </ P>

Tommy found the back of the panel. </ P>

That is completely full of very small lights,

that you look like you can get it.

light per light.

If you need to replace it...

I still have 5 percent battery left,

We've also been busy here.

We finally found this control room,

It's a coincidence that it was just the last room we went into.

We did not do that intentionally for the movie,

because we actually thought of giving up a bit.

I think we all enjoyed it have,

This was & apos; Controlroom S & apos ;, we see you in the next movie.

3 proofs that debunk flat-Earth theory | NASA's Michelle Thaller - Duration: 7:05.

So, Oscar, you asked the question, "What are some of the easiest ways that you can

prove that the Earth is round?"

Because apparently, this is something that we're debating—I have no idea why.

That's a hard thing for me to even start talking about because there are so many proofs

that the Earth is round, it's difficult to know where to start.

And it's not okay to think that the Earth is flat.

This is not a viable argument.

I have friends who have been on the International Space Station, they have orbited the Earth

once every 90 minutes; I've had personal experience with people who have been up in space and

can see with their own eyes that the Earth is round.

And of course, we've taken all of these amazing pictures from space; they're so

beautiful, all those pictures of the Earth.

So I don't really know what's going on right now with this 'Earth is flat' thing,

but I will tell you that this is one of the things I really enjoyed teaching my own astronomy

class about because there are proofs all around you.

It is not difficult to know that the Earth is round.

In fact, people have known of this for way more than 2,000 years.

The ancient Greeks actually had a number of really elegant, wonderful proofs that the

earth was a sphere.

So let's start from the simple to the slightly more complicated.

One of the things you can see yourself, with a pair of binoculars, is if you actually go

out to a lake and there are boats on that lake, the farther away a boat is the more

the bottom of the boat will disappear, and you'll basically just see the mast of the

boat.

And as a boat goes farther and farther away the last thing you will see is the very top

of the mast of that boat, and that's because the boat is actually going over the horizon

that's curved—and that means that as it goes farther and farther away you see less

and less of the bottom of it, and more of the top of that.

You can see that with binoculars by an ocean, by a lake, it's really easy.

That wouldn't happen if the Earth were flat—you would simply see the boat getting smaller

and smaller and smaller as it went farther away, but you'd be able to see the whole

thing with the same proportions.

Now, another way that you can tell that we're on a sphere is to think about how there's

something called the tropics on the Earth, and the tropics are places near the equator

of the earth were sometimes the sun is overhead in the sky.

This was actually something that the Greeks used, not only to prove that the Earth was

round about 2000 years ago, but they actually measured the circumference of the Earth, accurate

to within just a couple percent.

2,000 years ago we've known that the Earth was round.

There was a really brilliant Greek scientist called Eratosthenes, and Eratosthenes noticed

that there was a town called Syene, and on a certain date the sun would actually shine

straight down to the bottom of a well.

That meant the sun was directly overhead; you could look down a well and see the sun

shining back at you.

And on the very same date, farther away in the city of Alexandria, that didn't happen.

The sun was not directly overhead, it was a slight angle, and all that Eratosthenes

did was he measured the difference in the angle of the sun.

It was straight overhead in Syene; in Alexandria it was a little bit less than overhead, and

he rationed that that change in angle from one city to another was probably indicative

of us being on a curved surface, and you could make all kinds of measurements even between

those two cities and see that the angles were different—the sun was at a different place

in the sky.

Using this, he actually measured the circumference of the Earth, and he got it right 2,000 years

ago.

So another really simple proof is that on any given date, at different cities and different

places around the world, the sun is at different angles in the sky.

That wouldn't happen if the Earth wasn't round.

Then there are some other proofs that are a little more obscure, but they're actually

really lovely.

One is to observe what happens during a lunar eclipse.

Now, a lunar eclipse happens when the Earth casts a shadow on the moon.

The moon actually goes dark, in fact, if you've seen one you can actually see the Earth's

shadow go across the moon, and when the moon is entirely in the Earth's shadow the moon

looks kind of dark and even kind of red-colored; it's really, really beautiful.

What's happening, in that case, is that the sun is on one side of the Earth—the

Earth is in the middle—and the Earth is casting a shadow on the moon, and as the shadow

moves across the moon you'll notice that the shadow is curved, it's round.

And so something like the sun that's bigger than the Earth and is able to cast a shadow

of the Earth on the moon can actually show you the shape of the Earth.

"Ah-ha!" you might say, "but could the Earth to be a disk?

Could it be flat but it's actually still shaped like a disk, not like a sphere?"

There was a Greek scientist called Aristarchus and what he noticed was that you can get a

lunar eclipse at many different angles where the sun is; sometimes the shadow goes straight

across the moon, sometimes it just kind of glances the moon—just a little bit is in

shadow just on the top or on the bottom.

From every different vantage point, every different angle the sun is casting a shadow,

you always get a perfectly curved shadow.

The only shape that can cast a shadow that's curved from any direction you put the light

is a sphere.

So people have known that the Earth is spherical for thousands of years.

It's not okay to say that the Earth is flat.

This is some sort of strange denial, I don't know where it comes from, and it's something

where I keep getting this question.

We really need to put this question to bed because we've known the Earth is a sphere

for a long time.

There's even some well-meaning people who say, "I don't really believe the Earth

is flat, but I'm not really sure what to think about it."

And they've asked me some interesting questions, like they've heard that space is a very

hot, that when you go up above the atmosphere the temperature of space is millions of degrees,

which is true.

The problem is there's basically no air at all.

So the gas right around the Earth is actually millions of degrees hot.

That's actually true, but there's almost none of it, there's almost nothing.

Like one single proton whizzes by you at a temperature of a million degrees, it's not

the same as temperature in the air, it's not the same thing at all.

So that's one that I get sometimes.

And the other one is—I actually said this to somebody, and I couldn't believe they

had never thought of it—that with binoculars you can see planets, you can see Saturn and

Jupiter, you can see Mars with a telescope, the sun and the moon, everything else you

see in the solar system is a sphere.

So we're the one thing that is different?

And that actually made somebody who was more interested in actually hearing information,

that actually got them to think.

They were like, "You're right… everything else we take a picture of is a sphere!"

How to Keep an Audience Interested when you Talk (or Write!) - Duration: 2:13.

How do you make a room full of people actually care about what you're saying?

Hello?

Excuse me.

Excuse me.

I'm Marsha from Yes Yes Marsha.com and today I'm gonna show you how you can use storytelling

to change your listener's brains to keep them engaged and to make them feel totally connected

to you.

So when you're listening to facts like right now, if I were to stick you in an MRI scanner

the parts of your brain that would light up are called Broca's Area and Wernicke's Area.

They're the data processing parts of your brain.

If I were to stick you in an MRI scanner when I was telling you a story, the parts of your

brain that would light up are the parts of your brain that would light up if you were

inside my story!

So when I tell you about smelling coffee, your Olfactory Cortex lights up.

I tell you about grabbing a pen, your Motor Cortex lights up, specifically the part related

to hand movement.

If I'm telling you the story live, this is happening in my brain too and so both our

brains start lighting up in sync with each other in the same places at the same time.

And then if you tell your story in a room full of people, everybody's brains light up

in sync with each other.

I used to call it alchemy until I found out the brain science because I realized

it's not alchemy it's neurology.

It's everybody's brains in the whole room, all lighting up in the same place at the same

time like a giant benign alien invasion.

**All together** Cake.

Even better, if you start using emotion in your storytelling, people's brains release

oxytocin, which creates bonding and trust.

**Singing** It's in my neuro-pathways.

Muscle memory.

Thank you so much for watching.

If you liked this video, it would be lovely if you could give it a like.

You can subscribe and if you want even more advice plus stories and secrets that I won't

put on the internet and my free guide for how to use emotions in your storytelling then

Brilliant Easter Eggs Hidden In Video Games - Duration: 7:32.

Atari's 1980 fantasy game Adventure has gone down in video game history - but not just

because it's one of the most influential titles of all time.

It's also credited with containing the first-ever video game Easter egg - a room containing

the text, "Created by Warren Robinett."

Fast forward to the present, and there are entire sections of the web devoted to uncovering

the Easter eggs in games new and old.

And many developers have gone all in on making - and hiding - these hidden secrets for their

most eagle-eyed fans.

Dust off your granddad's deerstalker hat and polish that magnifying glass, because it's

time to take a look some of the most brilliant Easter eggs hidden in your favorite games.

Hidden in plain sight

The motivation of Dead Space protagonist Isaac is wrapped up in the fate of his girlfriend,

Nicole, who is trapped somewhere on the same Necromorph-infested ship he is.

Isaac spends the entire game trying to save his love.

But, spoilers: in a heart-wrenching, mind-blowing twist, Isaac realizes that the Nicole he's

been seeing all game was nothing more than a hallucination.

Seeing no way off the ship, and afraid of becoming a Necromorph herself, the real Nicole

took her own life through lethal injection.

Even more depressing is that, upon studying the chapter names in Dead Space, Nicole's

status was staring the player right in the face all along.

Take a look at the first letter in each chapter name.

New Arrivals.

Intensive Care.

Course Correction.

Obliteration Imminent.

Lethal Devotion.

Environmental Hazard.

Into the Void.

Search and Rescue.

Dead on Arrival.

End of Days.

Alternate Solutions.

Dead Space.

Put the first letter in a string together and they spell the phrase, "Nicole is dead."

Yeah, that Easter egg's well hidden and all - but it's a pretty rotten one.

Chalk it up to experience

The team at Remedy Entertainment boasts a nice list of hit Intellectual Properties,

from the Max Payne series to Alan Wake.

But the company branched out into new territory when it released Quantum Break in 2016, both

by creating a brand new property and by melding two worlds - video games and live action television

- into one experience.

But just because Remedy tried out a new franchise, that doesn't mean it forgot its older ones.

Upon entering a lecture hall, you'll notice a large chalkboard that looks to be filled

with the typical scribbles of a professor who'd recently taught a class.

But if you study the chalk writing more closely, you'll start to see that the subject matter

concerns Alan Wake.

And even more interesting: it seems to lay out the events that Alan experienced in his

previous two titles – Alan Wake and Alan Wake's American Nightmare - as an English

literature professor might lay out a work of fiction.

A-head of the game

If you've ever played a first person shooter, chances are you know the name John Romero.

He's the "godfather" of first-person shooters, having brought us Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and

Quake.

He's the co-founder of id Software, a studio that still works on the Doom franchise.

But to players of Doom II, released in 1994, Romero is well known for being the very face

of evil.

The final boss of Doom II is a horned head that spawns tons of enemies.

The player needs to hop on an elevator and use a rocket launcher to blast his exposed

brain to bits - or use a cheat to enter his skull and unload on a sprite version of John

Romero's head.

That's right: Romero's disembodied noggin was placed behind the wall and out of sight

by id's John Carmack as a joke.

"It was a total joke.

Like, the artists were playing a joke on me, sticking my head back there."

Shooting Romero's head several times will end the level.

Believe it or not though, Romero actually shows up twice in that final mission.

That garbled gibberish you hear when you first enter the room containing the Icon of Sin

is his voice.

When played backwards, the audio actually sounds like...

"To win the game, you must kill me, John Romero."

A Notch in his belt

Back in 2011, Mojang, the studio behind Minecraft, announced it was working on a collectable

card game called Scrolls.

In that same year, Bethesda Softworks also planned to release a game with "scrolls" in

the title: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Despite the games clearly not being in the same genre, Bethesda didn't take kindly to

Mojang's plans to use the name "Scrolls," and sent a legal threat to cease and desist

use of the word.

Mojang co-founder Markus Persson - known on Twitter as notch playfully challenged the

team at Bethesda to a Quake III deathmatch for the rights, but unfortunately for the

game world, his offer was refused.

Bethesda soon filed suit instead.

Despite the legal standoff that was still ongoing by the time Skyrim was released, an

Easter egg uncovered in the game shows that Mojang still had some fans inside Bethesda.

When players ascend to the highest point in the game, located at the Throat of the World,

they can pick up an axe that appears to be placed as a tribute to the Minecraft team.

It's called the Notched Pickaxe, with its name combining two things: the nickname of

Minecraft's creator - "Notch" - and the pickaxe that plays such a crucial role in Minecraft's

gameplay.

The suit between the two companies was later settled in 2012.

O Captain!

My Captain!

Following Hideo Kojima's extremely public breakup with Konami, the world wasn't quite

sure what to make of a brand new Metal Gear title without the legendary director at the

helm.

And when Metal Gear Survive arrived in early 2018, its reception wasn't all that great,

with some outlets criticizing the game's "lack of variety" and slew of eyebrow-raising microtransactions.

But in spite of the fact that Konami is continuing Metal Gear without Kojima, and that it appears

Konami as a company continues to host some bad feelings toward its former star employee,

the developers of Survive may have managed to sneak in a tribute to the former Big Boss

of the Metal Gear franchise.

When you first load up Metal Gear Survive and create your in-game character, you're

shown a list containing both your name as well as the names of other soldiers.

And someone noticed that, when you take the first letter of each last name starting at

the fourth name, the letters together spell out "K-J-P-F-O-R-E-V-E-R," as in, "Kojima

Productions Forever."

It's an Easter egg Konami has yet to confirm, but the possibility that the people working

on Survive intentionally hid this tribute to their captain in the game warms our cold,

cold hearts.

Deja entendu

One of the more joyful video game Easter eggs doesn't have to do with what's hidden in one

particular game, but what's hidden in many games.

It's Totaka's Song, the melody that seems to burrow its way into most of Nintendo's

titles, leading to a mini-treasure hunt every single time Nintendo puts out a new game.

See if this little diddy rings a bell:

[Music]

The story behind Totaka's Song centers around Kazumi Totaka, a composer at Nintendo whose

body of work includes games like Mario Paint, Yoshi's Story, Animal Crossing: Wild World,

Wii Sports Club, and more.

Totaka first included his 19-beat tune in 1992's X for the Game Boy, and for reasons

unknown, continued to hide the song in random Nintendo games that followed.

And good news for all Easter egg hunters: Totaka still works at Nintendo.

So if you've enjoyed hunting down his tune all these years, you'll still have plenty

of digging to do in the future.

Why Bach Used 12/16 Instead of 12/8 in his F#M Prelude - Duration: 5:37.

A few days ago, I've uploaded here on YouTube my version of Bachs prelude and fugue in F

sharp major, of his first book of the Well-Tempered klavier.

The prelude has the rather unusual time signature of 12/16.

Why did Bach choose 12/16 and not for instance the much more common 12/8, as he for instance

did in his Prelude in E Major?

Let's try to shed some light here.

So what's up everybody, my name is Wim Winters and welcome to Authentic Sound.

This channel is all about exploring the music from Bach to Beethoven and Beyond, with the

single goal to inspire you on your journey as a musician or as a music lover.

You might have expected me to be at the clavichord instead of my Erard piano.

But the principles of interpretation are basically the same, whether you play the clavichord,

the harpsichord or the piano.

Reason I'm sitting here is simply because I'll be recording some videos at my Erard

today, and carrying around with all the lights, cameras, microphones is...well something that

will keep you busy for a while.

Don't tell anyone by the way all this is set to record the first movement of Beethoven's

fifth symphony...

So, yes, time signatures are always important as one of the tempo indicators for a composition.

In Bach's time especially, since the use of the Italian tempo words such as allegro,

andante, presto, do occur from time to time, but compared to later music by Mozart, Haydn,

Beethoven, not so often.

I will upload a video soon talking on basic principles on how Bach often clearly indicated

the tempo he wanted you to play in, but for now, let's focus on the reasons he might

have had for choosing 12/16 instead of the, also back then, more common 12/8.

12/8 indeed is a time signature he could have used easily.

If you double the note values of the prelude in F sharp major, you would come up with a

normal 12/8 pattern.

The basic tempo – the tempo ordinario- for the two versions, one, the F sharp major based

on a 16 note basic pulse (hence the 12/16) and one, the E major, based on an 8th note

pulse, does not differ, so that was not the reason.

If we look on a more detailed level, we see in the F sharp prelude a rhythmical progression

and overall playfulness, that in a way is more focused on the 16th note, than compared

to the E major.

In The E major the 8th notes seems to be more connected to each other, more legato, leading

the listener from one first note of a group of tree to a next one.

Be sure however not to play them like triplets – there you have already a tempo guide : if

you hear triplets you're playing too fast.

This way of 'connecting' does happen in a similar way in the F sharp major at the

beginning, but soon changes.

Look what happens already in bar 2 in the right hand.

There we see the start of syncopations that will set through throughout the whole piece,

and are an important expressive element to built the joyful character of this piece.

One feels more a kind of hopping so to say in the F sharp major, whereas the E major

resembles more leaves blowing in the wind.

For sure this leads to a more articulated performance, one of the major reasons I believe

Bach went for this 12/16.

So the 12/16 invites the player to think more on the detailed level of the 16th, thereby

emphasizing more, if only by looking on the score, the tiny, micro articulations and phrasings.

When Bach would have used a 12/8 structure, chances might be there that an experienced

musician came to a similar result, but playing more legato perhaps.

See it as a photocamera: 12/8 has a wider angle lens then 12/16.

We zoom in here!

Bach lives in a time where time signatures will be simplified a lot.

In 1756, Leopold Mozart advocates to abolish a lot of the –what he called- old time signatures.

That happened fairly quickly, at the same time with the raise of the Italian tempo words.

Those tempowords did not save music from confusion, reason why composers a little later would

call for devices that gave absolute time.

It's just a little jump to the era of the metrome then.

So, just a quick video here to give you some insight in a question many of you might have

had for a long time.

As said, I'll be making that video on basic principles in reconstructing Bach's tempo

from his notation soon.

Stay tuned for new videos if you don't want to miss that.

No better way than to subscribe to this channel, hit also that bell icon next to the subscription

button and then... we'll see each other soon again.

Bye!

2006-2014 F150 Barricade Extreme HD Rear Bumper Review & Install - Duration: 10:25.

The Extreme HD rear bumper from Barricade will be one of your most affordable options

on the site when shopping for your '06 to '14 F-150 and are looking to switch off that

factory bumper in favor of a burly aftermarket steel option, giving you not only a little

bit more protection but also a little bit more functionality as well.

Now the Barricade will offer a powder coated steel design, does also come pre-drilled for

those factory backup sensors, all for around 600 bucks.

Install will be relatively straightforward, but of course will involve some elbow grease

due to the weight of this thing.

So let's call it two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter.

And of course, be sure to hang out for our detailed install walk-through later in the

video.

So the rear bumper category is definitely filled with a ton of cool and quality options.

However, things can get very pricey very quick.

Now the Barricade that we have here is going to be a nice alternative to those bumpers

that can cost nearly double or even triple the price while still delivering the main

ingredients of most aftermarket options, starting with number one, strength.

The Barricade is packing heavy duty three millimeter steel plate throughout which is

then fully welded both inside and out, and then finished off in a two stage epoxy coating.

So, altogether, yes.

Prospective buyers can definitely look forward to a massive upgrade in strength over that

factory piece that you will be replacing.

Another thing owners can look forward to with the Barricade is it's very unique appearance.

It's very angular with the cutouts and the overall design and there's definitely more

of an aftermarket appearing type of bumper for the owners who are into that sort of thing.

Now if you did wanna stick with an entry level or budget friendly rear bumper option that's

gonna give off maybe a little bit more of a factory appearance, then options from DV8

or even Steelcraft which you can find here on the site as well, will be similarly priced

to the Barricade option here, and will definitely offer more of that tone down like we just

talked about, and will still pack that heavy duty steel build.

Now it is important to point out that the design of the Barricade option here is more

than just looks.

These are actually functional as well.

Now the most obvious bit of functionality can be found on the very sides here with these

cutouts which will act as steps, allowing you to step onto that part and access your

bed much easier in the process.

You're also looking at a couple of cutouts right here as well, which are just practically

begging for some sort of rear facing auxiliary light.

Whether a three inch cube, maybe a smaller rectangle, you have some options with these

cutouts, and it will definitely help you light up those dark nights or dark driveways when

backing up.

I know, I have three inch cubes on my rig.

I absolutely love them and it's nice that the Barricade does include that.

So again, more than just a pretty face here with the Barricade HD rear bumper as it is

packing some functionality for that really nice price.

Also can't forget, guys, this thing does come pre-drilled for those factory backup sensors

if equipped, which will certainly make your life a little bit easier when it comes time

for the installation.

Now if your truck is not equipped with these factory backup sensors and you're worried

about having four holes in your rear bumper, well, Barricade does also toss in some plugs

to cover these guys up when not in use.

But let's switch gears and talk about the installation as promised.

And to give you a better idea of what's expected with this job, here is an AT tech with a walk-through

We're gonna begin this installation by removing the factory bumper.

The first step, we're gonna disconnect all the lights and the sensors.

So if your bumper is equipped with rear parking sensors, you need to unplug those as well.

However, this only has license plate light.

So we're going to get started on that.

So to remove the license plate light, we're just gonna take it, we're gonna turn it counterclockwise

a quarter of a turn, it'll unlock and then you can pull it out.

You're gonna do the same thing for the other side.

So after you've disconnected all your sensors and lights, you're ready to remove the bolts

out of the bumper.

There's three bolts on either side of the bumper.

There's one on the bottom and there's gonna be two up on top.

So we're going to use a 10 millimeter socket to remove those.

And then we'll pull the bumper off.

One's a little tricky to get and it's up here on the inside of the frame rail.

Next we're gonna remove this bottom 10 millimeter.

Now we're gonna do the same thing for the other side.

At this point in time, it would be a good idea to have someone hold the other side of

the bumper while we remove these last three bolts.

Now that we have all the bolts out and I have a helper, we're gonna pull this bumper off.

So the next step to install this bumper, we're gonna have to remove the factory tow hitch.

So we're gonna unplug the trailer wiring harness, then we're going to remove the nuts off the

back of this triple bolt plate, then we'll pull the hitch off.

Next we're gonna use a thirteen-sixteenths to remove these three nuts.

So now that we have all of the nuts removed, three on each side, we're gonna go ahead and

pull the hitch off.

So with our new bumper on the table, we're ready to switch over some of our pieces.

We're gonna begin with our license plate light housings.

Those are just gonna push in.

Next step, we're gonna install the spare tire access lock.

We're just gonna insert that in the hole, turn the key counterclockwise, and that'll

lock it in place.

Next we're gonna install the plastic plugs for the license plate provided.

We'll just push those into these top holes here.

So next step, we're gonna install the plugs for the rear parking sensors.

Now if you do have parking sensors, they're gonna install on these holes here.

Since we do not, we're gonna install these rubber plugs that are provided.

To do this, we're just going to push them in from the backside.

So the next step before we install this bumper, we'll need to remove this triple bolt plate,

and we'll need to move it on to the other side of this bumper as the bumper sits into

the hitch.

So we're just gonna pull this out, and we'll put this through the backside of the bumper.

So with some assistance we're gonna lift the trailer hitch up, and we're gonna slide it

on to our bolt plates.

So now that we have everything put together on the ground, we're going to pick this up

and stick it on the truck.

Now the bumper can be a little tough to install since you have to keep the hitch and the bumper

together while you insert the bolt plates.

However, with some assistance, we did get it on and we're ready to install the factory

nuts.

So now that we have all of our factory hardware reinstalled, we're ready to tighten up our

bumper.

Now we do have slotted holes so we're able to adjust how high or low we want the bumper

to sit.

So we're gonna use our thirteen-sixteenths to tighten that up and adjust it as needed.

So with your bumper tight and adjusted, you're ready to reinstall your trailer harness and

your license plate lights.

To install the license plate lights, we're gonna insert them in the hole and turn them

clockwise or quarter turn to lock them in place.

Now with everything tightened up, you're ready to reinstall your license plate.

And that wraps up our review and install.

How to Make Simple Grilled Salmon | The Stay At Home Chef - Duration: 2:07.

Today on The Stay At Home Chef

I'm showing you how to make

The Best Grilled Salmon Recipe

When it comes to grilling sometimes the best recipes

are the most simple ones

Today's recipe for grilled salmon is truly simple and easy

but I promise you it packs a lot of flavor

and that's all thanks to the grill

To start you'll need 4 portions of skin on salmon

That's really important for the grill

Then we're going to drizzle on about 1 tablespoon of olive oil

and rub it in

Then we're just going to add on a little bit of salt

and black pepper

And that's it!

I told you I'm keeping things simple today

The best grilled salmon is the most simple one

and we're going to let the grill do all the work

and really let the salmon shine

But if you want to use my best salmon marinade recipe

or add different seasonings you can totally do that

with this same method

Next preheat an outdoor grill to high heat

so that it's smoking hot or about 500 degrees Fahrenheit

Place the salmon flesh side down directly onto the grill

Then we're going to close the grill lid and

let this cook for 3 to 4 minutes

The best part about salmon is that you'll know it's ready

to flip because it will release itself from the grill grates

Then gently flip it and let it finish cooking with the skin side down

Close the lid again and let it finish cooking

It should need about another 4 minutes

Salmon is done cooking when it reaches an internal temperature

of 145 degrees Fahrenheit

Salmon doesn't need to rest at all so you are ready to eat!

Serve these up hot with some lemon wedges

so that you can squeeze a little bit of lemon juice

right over it just before eating

Thanks for watching!

2015-2018 F150 DU-HA Underseat Storage - Black SuperCab & SuperCrew Review & Install - Duration: 5:04.

If you're looking for a durable underseat storage solution for your 2015 and newer SuperCab

or SuperCrew F-150, then you'll definitely wanna check out the DU-HA option shown here

in black.

Now, the DU-HA will help keep miscellaneous items from rolling around the backseat or

floor of your rig, and will even include some foam line dividers which can be used to help

you store some long rifles or shotguns in your truck, making this the perfect choice

for the hunters or gun enthusiasts out there.

Price point [inaudible 00:00:31] made in the USA box is gonna be hovering just south of

200 bones, and the install will involve using some self-tapping metal screws into the seat

belt brackets underneath that back seat.

So let's call it a relatively easy one out of three wrenches on the old difficulty meter,

and we will have a step-by-step install showing you how to do that later in the video.

So DU-HA specializes in many different storage solutions for many different types of trucks

out there, all of which are made in the USA and backed by the company's lifetime warranty.

Now, the underseat storage box that we have here is a very versatile piece, at least in

my opinion, that will certainly help keep your cab a little bit more organized, and

as we stated earlier, can be used as a legal gun case, in most states, with the ability

to hold up to three rifles or shotguns without optics, or one long rifle or shotgun with

the scope.

Now, to make that all possible, DU-HA will include these removable foam line dividers

that will hold your guns in place or simply act as a divider to keep your stuff a little

bit more organized.

Now, the entire box itself is made from a heavy duty polyethylene, weighs in around

10 pounds and is most importantly, basically very inconspicuous and out of the way once

those back seats are folded down over top of this thing.

The DU-HA is compatible with all trim level trucks, including the Raptor, and can be also

used with or without that factory-equipped subwoofer.

Again, we are showing you the DU-HA option here in black, but the company also offers

this thing in a tan, a gray, or even mocha brown, which will allow you to match just

about any interior out there.

Again, guys, in my opinion, a really great and convenient product that will help OCD

truck owners like myself help keep your cab a little bit more organized, for south of

200 bucks.

Well, let's get into the install.

And to give you a slightly better idea of what's involved with this rather simple job,

here is a brief little walk-through.

First thing we wanna do is fold our rear seat up.

We already have this side folded up for you.

Simply pull the latch, push your seat up.

And next, provided with the underseat storage tank is a self-tapping screw.

We need to run this self-tapping screw in the top hole of this seat bracket, on this

one and that one down there.

What that's gonna do is create threads so we can use the provided knob to hold our storage

box in place.

So we can go ahead and we're gonna run this self-tapper in to create threads.

And I just wanna make sure this is gonna work.

And we have threads.

Now, we're gonna do the same thing for the racket closest to the driver side.

And then after that, we can install our storage bin.

Now we can do the same thing for this hole right here.

And now we're ready to install the storage bin.

All right.

I'm just gonna slide this guy in place and line the slotted holes up in here with the

threaded holes that we just made.

I had already had these previously installed but it comes with two dividers that slide

right in place, and it can also hold a long rifle or a BB gun.

And last but not least, we can fold our seats back down.

That's gonna wrap up our install.
