California Inches Closer To Socialism, Offers Guaranteed Income to Residents

A hallmark of socialism is the belief among proponents that life would be more fair for

all if the collective wealth among a group of individuals were redistributed more equitably

among those same people.

In other words, taking money away from the rich and giving it to the poor for no real

reason other than the simple fact that they are living, breathing human beings — a terrible

concept easily understood by children but the failed reality of which is absolutely

ignored by liberals and progressives.

That delusional belief just took a step closer to becoming a dismal reality in the increasingly

socialistic People's Republic of California, where the young mayor of Stockton is about

to implement a trial-run of a guaranteed income program to fight poverty, according to The

Hill.

The 27-year-old Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs announced he will begin an 18-month experiment

beginning next year that will guarantee a "no strings" attached basic income of

$500 per month for a select group of low-income residents.

The program will initially be funded by private donations from a philanthropic organization

known as The Economic Security Project, which will monitor how the monthly stipends are

utilized by the recipients.

That organization, which has fronted $1 million in funds for the socialist experiment, is

co-chaired by Chris Hughes, one of the incredibly wealthy co-founders of Facebook.

"I jumped at the opportunity," Tubbs told Reuters in an interview about the chance to

implement the privately-funded — for now — guaranteed basic income experiment in

his city.

"And then, maybe, in two or three years, we can have a much more informed discussion

about the social safety net, the income floor people deserve and the best way to do it because

we'll have more data and research," he added.

It remains unclear at this point exactly who among Stockton's 300,000 residents would

qualify to participate in the guaranteed basic income project, but Tubbs said he "felt

almost a moral responsibility" to take action "a little bit out the box."

"I know, for me, I want to live in a community where people's basic needs are met," Tubbs

said.

The project was supposedly modeled after a program in Alaska which distributes annual

dividend checks from oil revenues to all residents, and inspired by a two-year trial program in

Finland which provided roughly 2,000 unemployed residents with $600 monthly stipends.

Of course, proponents fail to acknowledge that Finland is actually discontinuing that

program once it is complete in December, as it was deemed too expensive without providing

any credible or tangible results to support its continuation.

As for the 34-year-old Hughes — who is, to his credit, funding this venture in Stockton

with private money — his goal is to have a similar program implemented nationwide that

would be funded by taxpayers, not philanthropic groups like his own.

His proposal is for the federal government to issue a guaranteed basic income of $500

per month to any and all individuals who earn less than $50,000 annually, a proposal that

could cost at least $290 billion per year.

Hughes suggested the imposition of a 50 percent tax on all income and capital gains realized

by American taxpayers earning $250,000 per year or more.

In other words, again, redistributing the acquired wealth of the rich to be given to

the poor for no reason other than their mere existence.

Redistribution of wealth didn't work in Finland's experiment, nor is it working

in communist nations like China, Cuba or Venezuela — and it didn't work out in the former

Soviet socialist republics.

"But this time it will be different," the California proto-socialists declare, as

their failing state slips ever closer toward full-on socialist communism.

Bengaluru: The southwest monsoon has set in the state on Monday with rains in the coastal and southern interior regions, India Meteorological Department`s (IMD) Director-incharge C.S. Patil told IANS here.

Though the monsoon hit neighbouring Kerala on May 29 and was to enter Karnataka on June 1, it got delayed by three days due to other climatic conditions and changing weather patterns.

The Met Office has issued heavy rainfall alerts in coastal and southern interior regions. Moderate to heavy pre-monsoon rainfall was received across the state`s 30 districts over the last week.

The pre-monsoon rains, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, wreaked havoc in the state inundating low-lying areas, uprooting trees and snapping power lines and damaging roads in coastal, central and south interior districts over the weekend.

According to IMD data, pre-monsoon rains were in excess of about 40 per cent in the state, bringing cheers to farmers as early rains will keep the soil fertile for sowing operations and fodder for cattle.

Bengaluru is likely to witness low to moderate rainfall over the next two days. .

So what aspects of the music and music video together did you think was your favorite Hugo: they totally played with our anticipation of what they were

Gonna do musically, there was enough rhythmic variety that it really was interesting and a blast, but it wasn't so much that it was

Eclectic. you weren't like having trouble following the music

It was so good

Like in the beginning, it builds up like it was about to be a drop and then it got really quiet

And you had like James said you had the drum on two and four James: there was---

There was a variation on everything which is what I love

variation of timbre variation of rhythm good equal balance both on the highest

Say for the the the vocalist part that one high note was phenomenal Hugo: oh my god

Like there were so many different things happening in the video

And then the music wasn't as like diverse I think as the last song was but then they had that like robotic

Auto-tune section and I think it worked really well with the rest of it

Umu: So for those who don't know what MIDI versus synth trumpets are or brass

Can you explain? Peyton: Midi trumpet is kind of-- or MIDI like

Sounds in general are kind of like of the sounds you would get from like

notation software

Whenever you're writing music on like anything like one programs finale another one's Sibelius (who is also a composer)

But yeah, whenever you play the what you wroke back, that's like the sound you hear like that. It's kind of like

uh like- Charlotte: That's midi

Peyton: Yeah

Peyton: That's midi Charlotte: an then synth is when you have like a keyboard and like and the electronics they can actually switch

sounds so you can like press a button or select a setting that is like

Trumpet sound and then you can just play it on the keyboard and that's what that sounds like. Umu: So it's less painful to musicians

Charlotte: Yes, because the really high-end keyboards get pretty close. It's like if you auto-tune a trumpet you would get

the synth sound trumpet

KEvin: I think with this one the instrumentals definitely reign supreme

But also rapping over the free, the piano line that like basically doesn't have rhythm

Like all of the improv is free and rubato-y while the beat is strict and the rapping strict. It's a very cool effect

Isaac: I don't know. It just doesn't really hit me too hard with a lot of different things. It sounds very similar to

Umu: typical kpop?

Isaac: I can't say typical kpop-

Kevin: it does sound like typical kpop but it's still a good iteration of it

I thi- I guess it focused on the references more than the music

Kevin: It's so interesting that through these movie related music videos we get to see which western movies

permeate into Korean culture like in China Pulp Fiction is like what--- What's that?

But in Korea, it seems like people really like pulp fiction

hugo: Musically, it was dope their vocals again were dope, they were pushing a little bit as James said but

Overall pretty great. james: Yeah Umu: and what do you mean by pushing technically?

James: He's still very much in chest voice when he's singing in those high notes

And so that puts a lot of strain on your larynx

When you don't try and transition to head voice and go through your passadgio, and so that's bad

umu: *wheezes*

Umu: Okay, and what do you think of movie's music compared to I'll be your man's?

Kevin: I like I'll be your man more

Just because it it has that extra thing like the the spark that Isaac talks about for me

the rap verses in in I'll be your man hits it more and

Movies just uh, it's a chill- It's more chill surprisingly even with the funk

yeah movie sounded very very bland in terms of like different characters or colors Umu: but it used okay chords? Kevin: very

Okay chords, very good chords as a matter of fact Charlotte: they both followed like the same form Peyton: if I had to pick one

honestly, probably the movie just because it's a little happier, you know

And I need more like just random happy songs in my rep

You know Umu: what do you think of this song compared to I'll be your man since it was released like only a few months apart

Olivia: there's more going on

Aaron: But then the other one was like sexy this one was like fun

A: but the other one was- Olivia: this one was fun, but like I would like to listen to it more

Aaron: the other one was sexy though Lindsey: they were kind of similar you could tell that this group kind of has a style

Fiona: I liked this one more if it matters because I don't know. It's something about the last one about the chorus

I didn't really like like I didn't like the guitar or like something about the voice with this one

It just was a lot more like groovy and chill better vibe for me

If you've been paying attention to the news recently you'll notice there's a lot of action on Big Island.

I'll put a picture here just so you get a concept of where the Big Island is.

The Hawaiian Islands are a chain of islands. It's not one big island.

So when there's activity going on- on the Big Island

It's not happening on Oahu, Kauai, or Maui.

With everything going on it's important that we look at the very cause of volcanoes itself.

The goddess Pele.

I'm not by any means the expert of Pele or her stories or legends

But- I will give you a basic idea of it.

And feel free to look into it more- I'll put the links in the description below

And I really want you guys to learn about Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes.

Pele is pronounced peh-leh

Pele was not born on the Hawaiian Islands

In fact she was born in Tahiti

Le frère aîné de Janet, Randy Jackson, affirme que la nounou se serait même enfermée dans la salle de bain de la suite pour avertir la chanteuse

La charge est violente, accablante. Peut-être un peu trop méthodique, au milieu d'une procédure de divorce qui s'éternise

Déjà deux fois divorcée, Janet a su, à chaque fois, justifier ses déboires conjugaux: son premier mari, le chanteur James de Barge épousé en 1984, était un cocaïnomane incontrôlable ; le second, le réalisateur Rene Elizondo auquel elle jura fidélité en 1991, n'en voulait qu'à son argent
