Hello Internet! I'm Matt Haas this is Awesome Fun Things!
Check out this new toy... it's a Casio G-Shock watch.
This thing looks right out of the 80s!
They haven't changed it since then.
Well... they added some cool modern features
... so, what appears to be a cheap digital watch
is actually version awesome. Let me show you why.
The features are pretty basic. This is the day of the week, month, day... time.
That's pretty much it.
It's got a light, and that will auto-come-on if you wrench it forward 40 degrees like you're looking at your watch.
It syncs the time with the atomic clock in Fort Collins Colorado.
That's the received signal. So, it's always dead-on accurate.
and... it has solar panels. This inner ring here is a solar panel.
so that will charge the battery.
Perfect.
Other than that it's indestructible.
This thing is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being run over by the heaviest truck they could throw at it.
This whole mechanism floats inside a very hard protective case.
and it's waterproof...
deeper than any human can go.
200 meters.
It's indestructible, practically.
I really like it.
This is the Casio G-Shock. They call this the sware version watch.
and it looks almost identical to when it premiered in the 80s.
Love it.
So those were the main features.
It has a few other little things...
A power-saving mode for example.
If the watch is not moving it will go completely empty on the screen to save battery.
I turned that right off. This things going to run and run.
I want my devices to work for me.
I'll probably never have to change the battery.
If I do it will be years and years and years from now.
and I like that the calendar goes out until 2099.
Long after I'll be gone.
Um
Auto-daylight saving time.
Perfect... don't have to worry about that.
You literally don't have to worry about anything.
This is something that will work and work and work.
It will not stop working.
and it looks cheap... but it's not cheap.
I really like it. If you want one, I'll leave an affiliate link down in the description.
Go pick on up... I know you'll love it!
