I have the honor to be the first in the world to present this replica on YouTube, indeed, it has just released! I also want to observe a minute of silence for the recent death of Nelson Mandela.

It's been years since this replica came out, years you asked me to review, but why make a presentation if everyone knows it? Knowing that half of the WW2 players I know already have it.
Because everyone doesn't know what can be done with this replica, that's why I'm going to present it to you. Because it can be a little better, we'll say.
On the other hand for the external one... we'll pass again. Impossible for you to take this replica in reenactment, there are points which are too visible. I will come back to it later.

Usually I present you with super rare replicas, new replicas, replicas that few people have or will have. Here we are the opposite.
So if I say bullshit, I'm going to get ripped off. I had many feedbacks on this replica and if I had to synthesize, it's: "it's a good replica".
So, we will put things in order. Would you say of a woman that she is good? No. For a replica, it's the same. One must never say of a replica that it's good.
Have I already said this sentence in one of my videos? No you can search, it's not there. I never said "it's a good replica".
A replica can be good for shooting, it can be pretty, it can be realistic. Rarely all three at once.
Like a woman, we can say that she is pretty, that she is realistic, that she is good for sho...
No forget that, I didn't say anything.
Let's start with a few numbers. You can find it on the SWIT Airsoft website for a price of $404. And if I'm not mistaken: when I shoot this video, the shipping costs are free around the world.
Please check, it depends on when you watch this video, but in any case, the price doesn't vary.
If you want an upgraded version with a precision barrel and a hop-up block from TNT Studio, count $489. It is this precise version that I will present to you, it's not therefore the version of the Garand out of the box from ICS' factories.
And honestly, I prefer, because in this way, you have an extra guarantee that everything is working properly, because TNT Studio and SWIT Airsoft are testing each replica before shipment.
Because I could see some feedback that says there could be replicas that didn't work properly at the reception.
In the pack, we have the rifle, locked in a thermoformed box, a magazine filling rod (the old-fashioned ancestor of the BB-magazine), an additional magazine and a cleaning rod, in addition to a manual use.
No battery provided with so. Too bad... But it doesn't matter, we will fix it.
The replica is 3.6kg, 1kg less than the original. As usual, it's because of the composition: light wood and pot metal.
I'm talking about light wood because when you put your fingernail on it, or throw it in the mud, it's going to mark the wood. Just as if you drop it off a cliff, the wood would be marked.
Or you're going to crush it with a car, or you're going to cut yourself with an envelope. Yeah, all that, it marks. Even sometimes, it leaves holes. We can say that Mark Hollis...
No forget that, I didn't say anything.
This replica is an AEG, Automatic Electric Gun, with a motor, a battery, a gearbox, a magazine and a barrel.
Regarding the battery, I strongly advise you to call on Energy Airsoft, a French company that makes batteries.
With this battery, you will never fail in OP. Indeed, it's more made for machine guns type M249.
Be careful, it's Li-po technology, learn well with their use, otherwise you will end up with a house in flames eventually. Well, this is an extreme case, there are still precautions to respect.
These are not classic Ni-mh.
We are here on 7.4V, but we could use the 11.1V, the ICS hardware tolerates this voltage. So you can choose between 7.4 and 11.1. The compartment for the battery is still massive. So even a big battery will go into it.
So I hear the remarks coming from here: "It would have been good to have an EBBR Garand" (for Electric Blow Back Rifle).
But no, thankfully they didn't do it. Look, this is the operation of a TRUE Garand. Is not there something that shocks you?
With the EBBR, we will first arm the bolt and then shoot the BB's. We will therefore have an inverted movement in relation to a real one. When shooting on the real, shooting causes the recoil. In airsoft it's the opposite.
When you are on a burst, there is no problem. When we are on a semi-automatic, it's visible! So luckily they didn't do it, otherwise it would have been very messy.
I'm going to show you, we're just going to do the same thing with the real thing, I'm just going to reverse the picture.
Regarding the other point that purists will highlight: We don't have clips. The bolt is only used to access the hop-up, and we operate with magazines.
Fortunately, unless you have a clip system, it seems like G&G is developing it with a Lee-Enfield, when I'm shooting this video, with a fake cartridge clip and some BB's contained in it.
So we can have a stock of BB's quite consistent. But imagine if we had the same problem as the marushin, which was unplayable. We had only 8 BB's. So when in front, you have an M249, you have better place them.
There we have a playable Garand. With magazines certainly, ugly and plastic, but it will be playable in game, whether in WW2 or in modern.
So maybe one day clips will be made with fake cartridges and BB's in them will be made.
But that day has not arrived.

Since we are on the bolt, it opens only partially. It doesn't open completely, to access the hop-up, which is set using a wheel. Why can not we open it entirely like the real one? Too bad...
But it's good to have a Garand who doesn't depend on the part 45!
Small peculiarity to note: When one manipulates the lever of armament, one sees the mechanism of gases return which moves below.
In any case, the bolt cover follows a realistic movement with a small rotation.
I was talking about this burp-ation (rot=burp in french) there... You're disgusting.
This Garand has markings on the back of the body. Realistic, but a pity for the ugly molding around... The serial number is also unique for each replica. By cons it's clearer than the rest of the body...
It may be necessary to cold blue it again.
The other markings we have are on the right eyecup, with arrows, and "left". And a small grid has been reproduced at the base of the sight. All this is realistic, top!
These knobs are also mobile, to adjust your eyecup up and drift. Drift on the right side and up on the left side.
It will be very useful for curved shooting, but for drifting... I don't see why. We are in airsoft, not on shooting at 200m.
These wheels will quickly lose their paint, it's not a quality crazy. It doesn't matter, you can cold blue it again behind, it's zamak.
Basically, all this part is very well reproduced, and we have...
What is that? Are you serious, gentlemen, ladies from ICS? What's that on your eject lever? We have a fucking screw.
It's ugly.
In addition the thread is rotten.
And besides, this screw is really important.
But this clip eject button is actually a button to unlock the magazine, which will fall from below, which will contain 42 BB's. The idea is not stupid to use the eject button of the clip for the magazine.
By cons, as I said about painting, it will take dearly there too.
Note that this small button ejection clips is very easy to touch, especially if like me, you're right-handed. I almost lost a magazine just squeezing the rifle against me as I walked.
Pay attention to this, try not to keep the rifle too much against you, besides, it makes traces on the wood.
Which brings us to the magazine. This one is plastic. Advantage, it costs less than the magazines with metal from G&G. It can contain 42 BB's, but you can only shoot 38, there will be 4 in the loading well.
Be careful when you arrive in neutral zone, disengage your magazine, and shoot 2 or 3 BB's to be sure that there is not a BB's stuck in the loading well.
It's a shame for the screw below. Here too it gives a little realism.
And also... Why is it curved? While on a real Garand, it's flat! Here too, this screws up the realism of the replica.
These magazines won't be able to pass in the classic Garand belt, but they will be able to be put in the bandoleer. So you can take 6 mags in each bandoleer and it will be quickly accessible.
Otherwise you will have the eternal GP bag to carry your magazines.
Note that these magazines are lightweight, so you can carry several without tiring you, without damaging you. On the SWIT Airsoft website, each additional magazine is sold for $15, without shipping costs.
Now let's come to the point that annoys the most, and that prohibits any use of this replica in reenactment, unless you want to pass for a redneck next to a real one.
Its dimensions. Denix's disease was caught there... The stock is massive. The gas cylinder at the front is just as much (which prohibits the use of a bayonet)...
No bayonet? I don't care, I'll break his teeth anyway with the stock.

This is the main disadvantage of this Garand: it's beautiful by far but far from beautiful. Like me.
It's a shame, because there are positives that others don't have in terms of performance and reliability. But we don't have realism. Still, it's the best of all.
All? Yes, there are currently 4 airsoft Garand on the market, I give them in chronological order of release: Marushin, ICS, G&G, and A&K.
As on the original, we have a safety here in flag with a firm notch. There is no "halfway". It mechanically blocks the trigger.
And... oh no...
No, seriously, people from ICS, why did you do that? Why did you put a trigger guard "Korean war"? Yes, it's not a WW2 trigger guard, it's post-war, which confirms that it's not credible in WW2 reenactment.
Already in airsoft WW2, the purists will refuse this trigger guard.
At the level of the trigger guards, there are only two that are good: the Marushin and the A&K.
Either the trigger guard is much too long, or the security is misplaced, but it should be there. Here, it's integrated in the trigger guard, it's ugly.
The trigger guard can be disassembled as the original model, but it won't allow you to disassemble your Garand as easily as the real one.
Indeed to be able to entirety disassemble your Garand, you will have to go through the top, we have a big screw here, to remove the Allen screw on the front sight.
Be careful with this screw, tighten the good when reassembling, otherwise you will lose your sight.
We have another screw here, we disassemble the gas cylinder, then the front and upper handguards. And finally, we can remove everything else with the gearbox, the engine and the connectors of the battery.
Be careful with the connectors along the engine, it can scrape. Having removed that beforehand, of course.
By cons, this part disassembled, it's ugly, it misses the front part. So if you want to expose your Garand, don't disassemble it.
Some pieces are painted black, others are painted gray. Too bad, it would have been nice to have everything in gray, to mimic the phosphating of the time - As G&G did BTW...
The most courageous will strip all of their replica for cold bluing it. Phosphatize, it won't pass, it's zamak. I decided to do my lazy and I only stripped the gas cylinder, which I cold blue it again.
There will be a very slight difference in color between the gas cylinder and the barrel. I used the gas cylinder from an original garand to do the manipulation.
The butt plate is ugly. Sorry to say that, but she's filthy. I feel like I have an M14 there. The screws are cruciform, and we have a button to open the hatch.
While it's practical, but it's not realistic. Here it's realistic! Yes, it's the Marushin, it's a real butt plate.
There were cruciform screws 80 years ago? I didn't know.
Loops are available to put on a sling. The one in the back, I have nothing to say, however, the one up front... There is also a problem of proportionality it seems. Do you have a complex, ICS? About the size?
No, because we can pass three slings in there!
For the sling, I recommend the leather one, brass buckle, it was the WW2 model.
Wood, let's talk about it. At first I didn't want to touch it, I liked the original color. But I listened to you and you told me "we can not wait to see what you will do with the wood."
So I sanded the wood with the dremel, then with sandpaper and I could see how good it was. It was a real pleasure to work it!
Honestly, there are times when I wondered if I was not working a real one, so it was realistic, especially at that level.
That said, don't try to adapt a real, the dimensions are not good, it won't work, it's useless.
Now I understand why this replica is so expensive. Already at the mechanical level, it's impeccable; and at the finishing and woodworking level, it's very good quality, that's what you can do best - at an affordable price.
But beware, the wood will remain fragile at this level because the Gearbox is just behind, so the wood is thinner.
After, each one his method to work the wood!
I would have shown you a chrony test but I changed the original spring. Originally we had a 430fps. Much too strong for French associations that tolerate up to 400fps in semi-automatic.
I replaced the spring with an M90, so now my power is 360fps. Certainly, I lose 20m range, but it was necessary to adapt to be able to play with.
We go to a 15m shot test at 0.30g BB's.
First empty shot.
This replica of Garand has the distinction of shooting in semi-automatic, without selector as on the A&K, regulated by a small mosfet located between the fuse and the Gearbox. So it's quite realistic, it avoids the burst of the M14.
With the original power (430fps), I could shoot at 0.43g without problems. But with an SP90, it's not possible. To be able to lift 0.43g, it's necessary to adjust the hop-up almost completely and suddenly it stuck.
So the 0.30g is the best weight that I can advise you, the 0.36g too, if there is a little more wind.
We will go to a test of shooting with 0.36g, and for info, that's what it gave to the 0.43g at 430fps...
We have a good fifty meters.
For Bling Bling fans and collectibles, there is a gold version of this replica. All metal parts are painted in golden color.
Additional feature, in addition to the price: the replica is 8mm.
