Youtube daily report Feb 6 2017

Just a little disclaimer:

Today's video is not sponsored.

But Lunapads, if you're watching

and you want to sponsor a video or

or send me more products to try

I'd be totally down with that.

(upbeat music)

Hey everyone, welcome to #SpinaBifida.

So last week's video,

which I believe is the Urinary Tract Infection video.

A commenter had suggested

looking into cloth pads.

To help prevent UTIs.

I shot it down very quickly,

because

from my past experience of looking at cloth pads

they've only really been for menstruation.

And not really for bladder control.

So 1) I want to apologize to that commenter.

Because this video was pretty much inspired by you.

And I want to thank you for your comment.

Because after I read that comment and answered,

I realized it's been a while since I actually

looked into cloth pads.

If you hear excess noise,

everyone in my apartment building decided to make noise as I record today.

So when I googled cloth pads, I found "Lunapads".

They are cloth pads, they have

a small size which is the size of a regular pad.

I will compare it to the size of Poise pads,

which I currently use for bladder control.

Then they have a more moderate and maxi pad.

But the thing that made me look at these pads specifically

was that not only did it say for menstruation

it said that it also works for light to moderate

bladder leakage.

So I decided to purchase the small pad.

And give it a go!

So this is the "Luna Performa" for menstrual and bladder needs.

It's the Mini 8" long.

And in this box comes with one high absorbency

washable pad.

You can machine wash them and dry them.

Or you can wash them by hand.

And first I wanted to say why cloth pads

are actually a better alternative to traditional pads.

And it says it on here as well.

There's no added chemicals or fragrances or adhesives

on cloth pads.

These apparently are more comfortable and breathable.

And they save you a whole lot of money.

I don't know if you know this but

Poise pads run about $14 for like a 60 pack.

And for me personally I usually have to go through 2 of those

packs especially when I do start my period.

So this overall seemed like a better alternative.

So when you open it, it comes with this little pad.

It folds up very nicely.

And it has a button.

So then you pop that button, and this is the pad.

So what you do is, you put it on like a regular pad.

You put it on your underwear and the you take the wings

And secure it with the little button on the back.

And then it's secured nicely.

And what this pad is suppose to do, it has 3 layers.

It says the first layer is patten dried wicking cotton top.

The middle layer is super absorbent microfiber core.

And the bottom layer is leak proof coated cotton base.

So I only bought this one because

I've never used a cloth pad before.

And I was very skeptical beause I primarily use

pads for bladder leakage.

This I just washed right before this video

so it's pretty damp.

Washing it was very easy but I tried this out

all day yesterday.

And it was an experience.

First I think you need to wear a more sturdier underwear

with it.

I was wearing yesterday a

no show type of panty that

won't give you a panty line so it's very thin

and this slid a little bit down.

So I had to readjust that.

But the whole day I could tell on the spots

where I had my bladder leakage,

when I would go to the bathroom,

but when I touched it , it was completely dry.

And that amazed me.

It never really felt uncomfortable the way pads are.

I didn't feel like I was sitting

in anything and

honestly this felt like my underwear.

So that was an adjustment to get use to.

I've been wearing pads since I was in the first grade.

For the first time in a long time, it just felt like I was wearing regular underwear.

So it kinda made me nervous anytime I drank water or did anything.

But it actually worked.

And I really want to purchase more.

They do come in five packs.

And I plan on purchasing that so I can really start to

phase out of wearing pads.

But I liked it, I felt clean the whole day.

Nothing leaked, it wasn't easy to see through my clothes.

I finally felt comfortable.

Now for the pricing, the pricing for these pads

are a little bit expensive.

But I think it is an investment and it is worth it.

For this one pad that was the 8" mini,

it was $15.

I'm not exactly sure how much the maxi pad is.

But for a 5 pack of these minis, that's like

$20 or $25.

But again it's an investment and I think

this is a way healthier alternative

than constantly buying pads.

I hope this video made sense.

If you have anymore questions about the pads,

be sure to leave them in the comments.

And I'll try to answer them, or tweet me them.

These pads are definitely not for everybody.

I have pretty light to moderate bladder leakage.

But if yours is more severe bladder leakage,

cloth pads so far are not made for that.

And that's it for #SpinaBifida, bye!

Opening Pokémon Charizard EX Box - Duration: 7:00.

♫ Music ♫

Hello everyone. My name is Kate.

Today we are doing another Pokemon

unboxing. And today we are unboxing

the Charizard EX Box.

Which has like the giant foil thing

in the back and stuff, which you'll see

more clearly once I open it. And then

it has four, at least what I can see, four

packs to open.

So let me just get this thing open.

So this is pretty cool.

From my understanding, this is like a huge

card in the back and this is the

smaller version.

It slides out easily.

If you guys want to see up close, it's got the

EX.

That's really cool.

Wow. They make it really hard to

get this one small card out.

Trying to do it without bending it to bad.

There we go.

There's the smaller version, it's bent a

little bit.

But not too bad.

This is cool.

Charizard my main man.

Here is the code.

Start with... lets see, we got

two evolutions, a steam siege or however

the heck you say that, and a fates collide.

So lets start with, I guess the two evolutions.

Here's the card- or code.

If you guys don't know what it's for

you just go to the Pokemon online

game thing and then enter it and you get

the pack.

Alright, we got a trainer, Machoke,

another trainer, Electabuzz; got like 500

of these. Some thing with Weedle.

Got 700 Magikarps.

Energy.

Shiny, shiny.

If you can see it on the camera- shiny.

And- Oh, sweet! Got a Mew, which is

53 out of 108 and it's a holo.

It's got that shine.

That's really cool.

Open up the second pack of evolutions.

If I can.

If I don't struggle too much, I might have

to use scissors.

I swaer sometimes these packs are so

hard to open.

Don't cut the cards.

Okay.

I don't think I cut any of them.

Here's the code to the first person who

gets it.

Alright, we're starting off with a trainer,

another trainer, Diglett, Gastly, Caterpie,

a freaking energy card, Magikarp, Ninetales

which gots that nice shine to it.

Those were pretty good.

We haven't got anything super super cool

yet. I mean besides the card that,

yeah, the Charizard.

Lets open up a fates collide.

Which is X and Y, I just noticed they had those

right there.

What are the those ones, do they have

the game? Whatever, okay.

Code.

Lets see what we got.

A trainer, oh I like this guy Weezing,

Oh shiny, shiny.

This guys pretty cool.

Oh nice!

Moltres.

Cool, cool, cool.

Not any shine on it or anything, that's

just the glare from my light.

But,

that's pretty cool.

I like the artwork to it.

Like him, and then you got the mountains

and stuff aroundit, and you can see

a little bit of lava.

It's really cool.

Okay, last pack.

Again, I think this is- yeah, X and Y.

Code.

Three.

Nice.

Pokemon Ranger.

Oh that's cute.

Nice, got that shine, shine, shine.

And... pretty cool.

His got some shine in the back.

It's kind of hard to see on my freaking

crappy camera. But, that's cool.

He's a rare.

Nice, Infernape.

Whelp, that's it. I guess take a last look

at this guy.

This guy pretty cool. I feaking love

Charizard.

Thanks for watching. Bye.

What is linear approximation? (KristaKingMath) - Duration: 8:57.

Linear approximation, sometimes called linearization, is a process that we can use to find a really

good estimate about the value of a function at a certain point that we don't know, by

using some information that we have about the value of the function at a point that

we already know.

Basically, we're using the fact that at a given point on a function, let's call it (x_1,y_1),

the tangent line at that point runs really close to parallel to the graph of the function

for x-values that are close to x_1.

This is really useful in cases where the function we are dealing with is especially complicated

and finding the y-value of a given x-value proves to be a difficult process.

For example it can take this equation and turn it into this equation.

The second equation may look harder, but without a calculator, the second equation is definitely

easier to solve than the first one.

Although the answer to the second equation won't be exactly equal to the answer to the

first, the approximation made by the second equation could be good enough in a lot of

circumstances.

If the y-output of the second equation is easier to find than the first, and the two

answers are close enough, why wouldn't we just use the second equation?

For example, linear approximation can be really helpful when we're trying to estimate square

roots, since we all already know lots of other square roots, like the square root of 4, 9,

16, and so on, but we don't really know how to take the square roots of numbers that aren't

perfectly square, like 3 or 9.2.

Let's go ahead and look at how we can use linear approximation on the square root function.

Let's say we want to find the square root of 16.3.

That sounds pretty tricky, but we already know that the square root of 16 is 4, so we

could say with at least some confidence that the square root of 16.3 is going to be just

a little bit more than 4.

Let's try using linear approximation to get an even better idea of what this square root

might be.

We'll use the information that we do know - that the square root of 16 is 4 - in order

to estimate what we don't know.

If we take a look at the graph of the function f(x)=sqrt(x), we can mark the point here with

coordinates (16,4).

We know the square root of 16.3 is going to be nearby, so what we can do is draw a tangent

line to the graph at the point we do know and then use the equation of that line in

order to find a y-value for x=16.3.

Finding the equation of that line is just a matter of recalling the point-slope formula

and plugging in the information we have.

The point-slope formula, remember, gives us y-y_1=m(x-x_1).

Using the point (16,4), we have that y-4=m(x-16).

The one thing we're missing in this equation is the slope of the line.

But we're using the tangent line to the function at the point (16,4), and how do you find the

slope of the tangent line at a point?

You evaluate the derivative of the function at that point.

So the slope of this line is going to be equal to f'(x_1), or in this case, f'(16).

The derivative of the square root function is equal to (1/2)x^(-1/2), so at x=16, the

slope of the tangent line is 1/8.

The equation for the line we're using for our linear approximation, then, is y-4=(1/8)(x-16).

After a bit of algebra, we get the simple equation y=(1/8)x+2.

Now all we need to do is plug in 16.3 for x, and that's going to give us (16.3/8)+2,

or just 4.0375.

This method isn't going to give you the exact value of y on the original function, but since

the square root of 16 is so close, the linear approximation will give you a pretty good

estimate about the square root of 16.3.

Looking at the graph of the function, plus the tangent line that runs through the point

(16,4), we can see that we get really similar values when we plug 16.3 into the original

function, and into the tangent line.

In fact, the actual square root of 16.3 is 4.0373, so the answer we found seems like

a pretty good estimate.

So if you think about linear approximation you can say that, in general, you can find

the linear approximation at a point x_2 when x_2 is close to x_1, and when you already

know information about x_1.

You just plug the information you have into this linear approximation formula, which is

really just a generalized version of what we used in the previous example.

The linear approximation of f(x_2)=f(x_1)+f'(x_1)(x_2-x_1).

And again, this formula comes directly from the point-slope formula for the equation of

a line, so if we can remember that formula, this one should be pretty easy to remember,

too.

Let's take a look at another example where we can use linear approximation.

Given the function f(x)=cos(x), we want to find a linear approximation for x=1.05, which

happens to be pretty close to pi/3.

f(pi/3) is actually much simpler to find, so we can use that knowledge to find an appropriate

estimate for f(1.05).

From the unit circle, we know that f(pi/3)=cos(pi/3)=1/2.

We also need to know the derivative of the function

at x=pi/3.

The derivative of cosine is negative sine, so f'(pi/3)=-sqrt(3)/2.

Now we can simply plug what we found into the formula for linear approximation, and

we get the linear approximation f(1.05)=(1/2)-(sqrt(3)/2)(1.05-(pi/3)).

And this gives us approximately 0.4976.

This estimate seems to make sense since f(pi/3)=1/2 and 1.05 is so close to pi/3.

In fact, there's actually a simple way to check the error of a linear approximation,

just by rearranging our equation a little bit.

So if we subtract f(x_1) from both sides, the left hand side will give us the difference

in y, and this is the error in our estimation.

So the error can just be calculated using everything that's left on the right-hand side

of the equation, meaning the product of the derivative and the difference in the x-values.

In this case, the error is equal to (-sqrt(3)/2)(1.05-(pi/3)), which gives us a value of about -0.0024.

This is a pretty small margin of error, so I'd say we got a pretty good estimation of

x=1.05 thanks to linear approximation.

Keep in mind that you can get both positive and negative values for the error of a linear

approximation, but since we're looking at error, which is just the distance between

the actual value and the approximation value, you can always give a positive value for error.

So in this case we'd take the absolute value of 0.0024, and say that the error of the linear

approximation is positive 0.0024.

To review, linear approximation just uses the y-value and the derivative at a given

x-value in order to estimate values of a function close to the x-value we're interested in.

The formula for linear approximation is given by f(x_2)=f(x_1)+f'(x_1)(x_2-x_1).

If we want to calculate the error in our linear approximation, all we're looking for is the

change in y, which we can find by multiplying the derivative at x_1, by the change in x.

In general, as long as we're trying to estimate the value of a function that's close to a

value that we already know, linear approximation usually gives us a pretty good estimate.

Trump Can't Handle Life Outside His Bubble – Reality Can Be Scary - Duration: 4:29.

Early Monday morning Donald Trump took to Twitter as usual to say that all of these

polls, ABC, CNN, NBC, CBS, all of the polls right now showing that he has historically

high negative approval ratings are fake news.

He called these polls fake news because he doesn't agree with them.

He said they did the same thing about the presidential election, ignoring the fact that

Hillary Clinton actually did win the popular vote by as many votes as she was projected

to win the popular vote.

He may have won the presidency, but those presidential polls for November were actually

accurate.

Don't tell him he lost the popular vote, god no.

His insistence that these negative polls, showing that people do not like the job that

he's doing, insisting that those are fake news shows that Donald Trump is incapable

of living outside of his bubble.

Think about it this way, this is a man who was born a millionaire.

The second he came out of the womb he was a millionaire.

Right now according to him, he is a billionaire.

He has never been anything less than a millionaire from the second he took his first breath.

He has lived his entire life inside of a bubble where if anything was uncomfortable, anything

was unpleasant, anything wasn't up to his standards he could get rid of it.

That's literally what made him famous on his TV show, was getting rid of things he didn't

like, only in that case it was people or employees.

If he had a painting in his house that he didn't like he would just tell somebody, 'I

don't like this.

Get it out', and they'd do it like that.

'I don't like this food, bring me something else', and they would.

That's what a life of privilege does to you.

It insulates you from reality.

He surrounded himself with these sycophants and yes men who don't know how to say no,

who don't know how to stand up to him, people who would just say, 'yes sir, absolutely

sure.

We'll make sure we get that taken care for you, sir.', instead of saying 'You know

what, just deal with it.

Let it go.

Accept it.

That's reality.'

That's the problem he has right now, because to an extent right now Donald Trump has to

live outside of his bubble.

There are going to be opinion polls about his presidency until he leaves office.

Even after that people will still get polled five, ten years from now 'What do you think

of the job that former President Donald Trump did?'.

That's your life now, buddy.

That's what you chose.

Get used to it and get over it.

It doesn't mean they're fake news just because you don't like the reality.

You're just mad that you can't have somebody bring you a new more positive poll to replace

this negative one.

That's reality.

That's the reality that the rest of us have been living in all of our lives.

We didn't come from lives of privilege, we weren't born millionaires, probably never

will become anything close to millionaires.

We understand, we see the world for what it is.

We understand science.

We understand polls.

We understand news.

We understand what's fake news and what's not.

The only fake news in America right now is coming from far right websites and Kellyanne

Conway and Sean Spicer with their alternative facts, and I guess to an extent Donald Trump's

Twitter feed as well.

That's reality, buddy, and you have to accept it.

You're the President of the United States.

You don't get to make up your own facts.

You don't get to fire people across this country that you don't like.

You are what you are now, and you chose this, so you'd better get used to living outside

of your cushy little bubble because I can promise you things aren't going to get any

prettier or kinder for you in the next four years.
