Youtube daily report Feb 7 2017

Hi community of awesome, I'm Ava Jae and this is bookishpixie.

So writing multi-POV (point of view) novels creates a host of challenges, but one of the

most common complaints about multi-POV novels that didn't work is that the POV characters sound the same.

This is a bit of a challenge when you're writing, not just a multi-POV novel, but any novel,

because you're one person, but when you're writing a book, you're writing from the perspective

of people who aren't you, and when you're writing a multi-POV novel, you're writing

from the perspectives of many people who aren't you.

And people who aren't each other, either.

So the key here to writing perspectives that sound different is getting to know each of your POV characters.

Start with considering how each of your POV characters see the world.

Voice is more than just word choice, it's also observation.

It's filtering the world through a character's perspective.

It's what they notice when they walk into a room, what they think as certain things

happen, etc.

Consider each of your characters backgrounds and how that affects the way they speak and

the way they see the world.

So let's look at an example that I can talk about from experience, my debut, BEYOND THE RED.

BEYOND THE RED is a dual-POV novel told from the perspectives of Kora and Eros.

So Kora is a queen raised in luxury, and Eros is a nomad living with humans who've been

perpetually running for their lives.

Their level of education, the way they view things, the observations they make, etc, are

all radically different because they come from drastically different backgrounds.

So if Kora and Eros walk into the same room, they're going to see it completely differently.

A room that to Eros might remind him of home and make him feel comfortable and relaxed,

might to Kora be completely unimpressive.

And vice versa, a room that to Kora might be normal and remind her of home and make

her feel comfortable, might to Eros seem gaudy, and overblown, and ostentatious.

Word choice, of course, is also important, but for me I tend to focus on that part in revisions.

I usually have a general sense of the way a character speaks when going into the first

draft so, when writing BEYOND THE RED for example, I knew from the beginning that Kora

had a higher level of education than Eros, and was raised in a more formal, stricter setting.

So the way that she speaks is more formal than the way Eros does.

When time comes for that, I like to make a list of words, or phrases, or stylistic things

that affect the way a character speaks, and then make sure that only one character is using them.

So, Eros for example starts a lot of sentences by dropping the subject, so he doesn't say

"I" sometimes, for example, so that was something I had to make sure that only he was doing

and Kora wasn't doing because that was stylistically his.

And he also uses a lot of slang that she doesn't use, and vice versa, she uses slang that he doesn't use.

So at the end of the day, when done correctly, when you put _all_ of that together, you will

end up with very distinct POV characters.

So that's what I've got for today!

If you liked what you saw, don't forget to subscribe and comment, and I'll see you guys next week!

BLACK BLACK WOODS (rozhovor s herci) – CIRK LA PUTYKA - Duration: 2:21.

We're not creating documentary theatre about Rosťa and Rosťa.

What's important here is simply the relationship between father and son.

Everything is there – in these characters, the character experiences everything.

Except that he doesn't experience it during an hour and a half, but during six hours, and that's the fun part.

Here, for me as well, it's a change of perspective on the theatre.

However it turns out, it will be an amazing concert.

Because that band, once they get going, can put on an unbelievable show.

I'm curious to see who can last these six hours with me and my dad.

Whoever sees the first scene of this performance, which starts at half past eight,

and doesn't have the experience of the four hours beforehand,

will perceive the scene completely differently than the person who goes through the first four hours with us.

It's incredibly important to throw fear aside

and jump into this unfamiliar space of time.

The entire process is a path through a black black woods.

The most important thing for me is that the last time we were actually this close physically,

I think – I'm guessing right now in relation to my children – that it was maybe 30 years ago.

Like when my dad maybe carried me in his arms or on his shoulders,

except that now it's all turned around and now I'm the one carrying him.

I rehearsed as a resident artist in Sweden, in France, in Greece.

And it was actually in Greece that I always enjoyed the atmosphere the most.

You're closest to the culture, because when you're gaping at the Acropolis,

you understand what we're talking about in rehearsals completely differently.

I know this project has to happen now, as part of the trilogy,

and I'm actually taking on the risk myself.

The viewer who is unafraid has open doors here.

I think that a person with expectations simply can't come here.

Drink your fill, man.

When you can stop that time and go against time,

it's a glorious idleness.

History of Last Names: History in a Minute (Episode 11) - Duration: 2:05.

Hey there everyone. This is Mr. Philip

Campbell with Homeschool Connections

History in a Minute. I'm your bearded, nerdy

history guru. And today we are asking

the question of how did we get last

names. Last names are really a recent

development in the West. And in the

beginning only Nobles had last names.

And these were what are called bynames.

Names that denoted where someone was

from, like Godfrey de Bouillon was the

Lord of Bullion. It was a place. Or

Rudolph von Hapsburg was the Count of

Hapsburg Castle. So these were originally

last names that denoted places.

Eventually bynames trickled down to the

commoners. In England you have last names

like Atwell or Bywater. That is you

lived at the well or by the water. And these were used when two people with

the same first name lived in the same

town. Two guys named Tom lived in the

same town. One is Tom Bywell. One is Tom

Atwater. In other regions like

where there was a more clan-based system

or culture like an Ireland, Scotland,

Scandinavia you had patronymics. That is

last names telling you who you were the

son of. For example names like O'Neal

McDonald and Haroldson. That son of

Neill, son of Donald, a son of

Harold. And of course all throughout

England and Germany there's lots of

occupational names. Last names that tell

people tell what that person did like

Smith, Fletcher, Chandler in English. Or in

German Bauer, Fisher, or Holzmann.

These names that tell about an

occupation. These names were common in

the latter Middle Ages but they didn't

become standardized until the reign of

Henry the Eighth who passed a law in

England that all new births and

marriages must be registered by their

last names for the purpose of better

keeping track of people and presumably

taxing them. So since the 16th century

they've been universal at least in the

English-speaking world. And now you know.

2013 Ram 2500, 6" Zone Lift, 20x12's, and 37's - Duration: 4:38.

- Hey guys Shawn here at customoffsetstv on youtube.

You guys have absolutely been begging for it,

and it's finally here.

Dodge Ram, Ram, 2500 2013.

This one's gonna get a six inch zone lift,

and then it's gonna get these 20 by 12 fuels

and 37x12 1/2 Federal Couragias.

And we already checked the load rating

and it passes, this things ready to rock and roll.

Let's go.

♫ Big trucks, decked out

♫ Rolling through the mud and they flexed out

♫ Rims so big and the windows black

♫ That's a lot for a lit up double chromed out stack

♫ Yeah we let it get dirty,

♫ But still it's so clean

♫ Custom offsets team stance is the team

♫ We on top of it now

♫ We ain't never gonna fade

♫ So you better get ready to take an opening

(exciting music)

- Hey you guys.

Like we said it's 2013, Ram 2500.

So it's got the six inch zoned out,

so it's gonna have the coils and the shocks

everything is replaced

through this thing way up in the air.

And then what he went with there

the fuel crank,

and that's a 20 by 12 negative 44 offset.

So you're gonna see that it's got

a good size lip on it.

About five inches I would call it.

So not an insane lip for a 12 inch wide,

but still competitive

you know six inches is usually what we're looking for

on those true deep lip wheels.

But a five inch is plenty.

And you can see for tires he went with the 37

and it's 12 1/2 or I think they're 13 1/2,

they've gotta be.

Everything's wet Fuller, can you see it?

There it is.

37x12 1/2. So he went with the 12 1/2s.

So you can see that it's pretty much

a straight up and down side wall.

Had he done the 13 1/2s it would have had more bubble.

I don't think he's worried about

protecting the wheel.

This doesn't strike me as much of an offroad truck

I think he's doing more towing and hauling.

So he's got the 37x12 1/2 Federal Couragias.

So with that six inch all they had to do for trimming

is they went in here and took the corner

of this fender flare off,

and took out some of this plastic here.

And then they just heated up,

and bent back the liner rather than cut it all off

he was able to heat it and just tuck it.

And then same exact thing up front.

He just went in, heated this up,

folded that liner forward

so that it will no longer contact the tire

but it's still there.

And then trimmed the bottom of that valance chase

at kinda the same angle

of the air dam.

So that's it for this one.

I mean it's a clean truck,

I can show the interior on it.

It's got a pretty decked out interior.

Pretty fancy shmancy. Fuller?

Fuller likes it a lot.

He wants to buy one just like that.

Live in there, live in there.

Tell 'em you got leather couches and stuff,

all the ladies.

And then you can see he's got a low protonal cover

this thing actually sits really low

that's a truxedo.

I like that.

Just barely pops up over the top of the bed.

And this whole thing is the Leremy package.

Baker's got the toll mirrors flipped up for the homies.

But that's pretty much it,

it's got the stock tint.

Are those after market?

Is anybody left here?

Are those after market clear clearance lights?

- [Man] They're the dodge option.

- [Shawn] Dodge option.

So they chose to have 'em like that.

That's also stock as it turns out.

But it's a nice truck.

You asked for some dodges,

you can see it's got those are stock too?

Projection headlights?

Cool.

Wow all sorts of options.

Don't see a lot of dodges

what do you want me to tell ya.

So that's Ram 2500,

I keep calling it a dodge

I don't even know if I'm allowed to call it that.

It's a Ram 2500 2013, six inch lift.

You can see it does clear the 37s on 12 wides

with just a little bit of trim

and a little bit of tuck in that plastic.

There's your Ram 2500,

common swap straight axle swap,

ready to rock and roll.

Peace.

Fate/Grand Order English - Fuyuki Chapter 4 - Heroic Spirits and Chaldea - Duration: 7:13.

Investigate the Port

Mashu: Hostile creatures, eliminated. Let's proceed

Olga Marie: When I saw that monster, I'm a bit worried about what would happen. But, as expected from the Body of a Servant, spec wise it's a complete victory.

Mashu: ....Though it doesn't change the fact that they're a bit scary.... By the way, Director. I have a question.

Mashu: The Fuyuki City in the data and this Fuyuki City are far too different.

Mashu: Do you have any idea what happened here, Director?

Olga Marie: I think, the history must have been altered a bit. I can't think of anything else as the culprit

Olga Marie: Mashu and Fujimaru. Listen carefully because I will only say this once

Olga Marie: Chaldea observe the future with the earth model called Chaldeas. At the same time a familiar called Laplace is compiling the past records.

Olga Marie: To put it simply, Laplace is working to find concealed histories that weren't publicly known, hidden information, the ones that buried in the darkness

Olga Marie: Observation by Laplace has confirmed a special Holy Grail War in this town in 2004

Mashu: Holy Grail War...? By Holy Grail, you mean "The Holy Grail" in the legend?

Mashu: An onmipotent power that grants the wish of the owner. A holy vessel that regarded as the root of all magic?

Olga Marie: Yes, that Holy Grail

Olga Marie: The Magi in the Fuyuki City complete the Holy Grail and summoned Seven Heroic Spirits to activate it---

Olga Marie: That is the start of Holy Grail War. Servants were summoned to this city, but no one knows.

Olga Marie: The system for Fuyuki's Holy Grail War is simple.

Olga Marie: Seven Masters competed with each other, and the last man standing will own the Holy Grail.

Olga Marie: Chaldea knew this event in 2010. Fathe-… no, the previous Director used this data as the basis for creating the summoning ceremony.

Olga Marie: That is Chaldea's Heroic Spirit Summoning System Fate. Along with Laplace and Chaldeas, it was our third invention.

Mashu: Third? What about Near-Future Observation Lens Shiva

Olga Marie: Because Shiva was Professor Leff's invention. Well, I have some contribution in it though

Olga Marie: Anyway, this is the birthplace of Servants

Olga Marie: There were seven Servants once competed for the Holy Grail in this city The result ended with Saber's victory

Olga Marie: I was supposed to end without destroying the city and the existence of Servants kept in secret from normal people.

Olga Marie: .....And yet, now everything engulfed in flames. We should think that the result of the war altered due to the Singularity.

Olga Marie: This anomaly in 2004 affected the history of humanity. As the result, Our one hundred years of future cannot be seen.

Olga Marie: So, our mission is to correct this anomaly. The cause that altered our history exists somewhere in this area.

Olga Marie: After we analyze or preferably eliminate it, the mission ends. You and I can return to our time.

Fujimaru: Have you summoned Heroic Spirits in Chaldea?

Olga Marie: Of course we have. But it doesn't go very well, you can even count the successful summons with your fingers.

Olga Marie: Though we summoned 3 Heroic Spirits in the document, I only know two of them

Olga Marie: The first one was in the previous Director time. The second and third summoned after I became Director.

Olga Marie: ... The second Heroic Spirit is the one that fused with Mashu. I think you already know the third.

Olga Marie: That oddball that settled in Chaldea. That Leonardo da Vinci.

Olga Marie: It's these guys again...! Kick their asses, Mashu, Fujimaru

Mashu: Phew... The battle is over, Master. Somehow we managed through this one as well, I'm glad.

Fujimaru: Thank you for your hard work, Mashu

Mashu: Yes... I'm happy I can help.

Olga Marie: Say, Mashu. Could it be, you can't use Noble Phantasm?

Mashu: That is correct... And I don't know the identity of the Heroic Spirit that fused with me.

Mashu: The trump card of a Heroic Spirit---- [Noble Phantasm], I can't manifest the full potential of that special arts.

Mashu: Fujimaru-senpai. I'm very sorry for the late explanation.

Mashu: Every Servant has its own special skill called [Noble Phantasm]

Mashu: It based on their own legend and achievements. A cool yet subtle trump card.

Mashu: However, I cannot use my Noble Phantasm.

Mashu: I can use the physical form of the Noble Phantasm, but the power is greatly reduced. Because without releasing its true name, I can't manifest its true potential.

Mashu: I don't even know the origin of my weapon in the first place.

Olga Marie: ................

Mashu: So please expect me as a defective Servant or preferably as a junior who is still growing and full of potential

Mashu: Although I don't have any leads or information on the Heroic Spirit fused with me, as long as Senpai continues to grow as a master you will naturally recognize it.

Olga Marie: That's true. Masters can analyze the information about their contracted Servant, like their parameters or skills.

Olga Marie: Fujimaru... If you, the contractor, becomes a fully fledged master, you can also Mashu's Servant Information.

Olga Marie: From now on, the process is the same when you contracted another Servant. First, you must know their true name and Noble Phantasm

Olga Marie: The more you trust them, the more powerful your Servant become

Olga Marie: Although, you probably don't have that kind of talent. The fact that you can't use Mashu to her fullest potential is the proof.

Olga Marie: After Chaldea's Rayshift function recovers I will only shift the best Master

Olga Marie: When that happen, your head will be the first one to roll. Amateur who has no real battle experience all you need to do is tremble in the corner of Chaldea

Fujimaru: It was Director Marie who was trembling all this time....

Olga Marie: I'm not trembling! Not even a bit! Have a respect to your elders!

Mashu: It seems that you understand each other more and more. Now, we should leave before more enemies arrive.
