Hello its Kinoshita Yuka (English subs by ~Aphexx~)
So, Today! tadaa I tried making these Onigiri rice balls into tempura (English subs by ~Aphexx~)
BTW. I purchased these onigiri from 7-11 crispy seaweed ones, not so crispy seaweed wrapped ones...
ones without seaweed... all sorts of Onigiri
I've had requests by letter, Twitter and the comment section to do a video on making Onigiri tempura
there was so many requests I just had to do this video
lately I've been doing a lot of deep frying I've had this theory for a while that everything tastes better
deep fried ~so you're probably going to see a lot more deep fried foods ~
alrighty lets see how its deep fried
we'll first make the tempura batter combine flour, starch and salt
slowly blend in a combination of water and vinegar
should be done when it looks like this
tadaa dunk the onigiri into the batter
now put the onigiri in
美場です
looks delish
I'll wrap the ones without seaweed with my own
lets cut one in half
ahh this one is fried fried chicken looks delish
this one is fish egg
tadaa they're complete they look pretty good don't they
try sprinkling some salt , to taste
itadakimasu lets start with the kara-age chicken
you can see whats inside and it looks so delish
delish! the oil hasn't penetrated too far into the seaweed or rice
~or has it????~
but anyways its not that greasy at all and having that batter coating the seaweed its like that
snack that is mostly battered seaweed... do you guys know what I'm talking about?
its like a tempura version of that so its a bit softer it reminds me a lot of that... this is delish
so delish
the batter I made this time around is pretty crisp and delish
and I especially like this because its got kara-age and Mayo
next is fish egg look at how colorful and pretty it is
I've had fish egg tempura before and you take that yumminess and wrap it in rice....
making it much bigger which really suits my tastes
tea is the perfect accompaniment to onigiri
next is this.. these have been a staple of 7-11 for quite some time
an onigiri with a bit of sausage
the battered seaweed and sausage pair quite nicely
this onigiri has a bit of mayo mixed in with the sausage and rice
~ayyyy good job~
~when grabbing these onigiri with chopsticks....~
my arm is getting so tired... right about here... bout here
mm its 'Sea chicken' (yep the JP call canned tuna seachicken)
ahhh so tasty~ 'sea chicken' onigiri are pretty delish
packed with fish egg
this is salmon its so nice and salty.... delish
I believe this is fried rice?
its my first time ever tasting fried rice tempura
hmm.. perhaps I prefer normal white rice with something extra inside it?
last onigiri
its one of those sausage ones.... its so delish
final mouthful itadakimasu
gochisosamadeshita the onigiri tempura were so delish
I took a bit of a shortcut by buying these from a convenience store... not really showing off my Iron Chef skills here
the instructions I saw were done with hand made onigiri perhaps I'll try that for the next one I do
when you wrap these in seaweed they give you that extra sense of mouthfeel
lately I've developed such a glass jaw...
my jaw gets sore after just a few bites so.... this is a bit of a warning for those who have weak jaws..
they are crisp and yet chewy at the same time
the seaweed takes the .... ~moisture?~...... ~moisture?~
err ummm what's the word I'm looking for....
the liquid contained within the rice ball gets absorbed a bit by the seaweed giving it a chewier feel
it is very delish! I believe adding extra salt was necessary
it was so delish and so easy to make please give it a try?
and as always thanks for watchng and if you liked this video please hit the sub and like buttons BAI BAI
