What is Valve?

A valve is a device that regulates, controls or directs the flow of a fluid by opening,

closing, or partially obstructing fluid flow.

Basically it controls flow & pressure.

Different types of valves are used to serve these functions.

Let's start with Gate valve

Gate valve is the most common type of valve in any process plant.

It is a linear motion valve used to start or stop fluid flow.

In service, these valves are either in fully open or fully closed position.

Gate valves are used in almost all fluid services such as air, fuel gas, feedwater, steam, lube

oil, hydrocarbon, and all most any services.

Gate valve provides good shutoff.

Globe Valve Globe valve is used to stop, start, and regulate

the fluid flow.

Globe Valves are used in the systems where flow control is required and leak tightness

is also necessary.

Globe valve provides better shut off as compared to gate valve and it is costlier than gate

valve.

Check Valve The check valve prevents backflow in the piping

system.

The pressure of the fluid passing through a pipeline opens the valve, while any reversal

of flow will close the valve.

Plug valve Plug valve is Quarter-turn rotary motion Valve

that uses a tapered or cylindrical plug to stop or start the flow.

The disk is in plug shape, which has a passage to pass the flow.

Plug valve used as on-off stop valves and capable of providing bubble tight shutoff.

Plug valve can be used in vacuum to high-pressure & temperature applications

Ball Valve A Ball valve is a quarter-turn rotary motion

valve that uses a ball-shaped disk to stop or start the flow.

Most ball valves are of the quick-acting type, which requires a 90° turn of the valve handle

to operate the valve.

The ball valve is Smaller and lighter than a gate valve of same size and rating.

Butterfly Valve A Butterfly valve is a quarter-turn rotary

motion valve, that is used to stop, regulate, and start the flow.

Butterfly valve has a short circular body.

Butterfly Valve is suitable for large valve applications due to Compact, lightweight design

that requires considerably less space, as compared to other valves.

Needle Valve Needle valves are similar to a globe valve

in design with the biggest difference is the sharp needle like a disk.

Needle valves are designed to give very accurate control of flow in small diameter piping systems.

They get their name from their sharp-pointed conical disc and matching seat.

Pinch Valve The pinch valve is also known as clamp valve.

It is a linear motion valve.

Used to start, regulate, and stop fluid flow.

It uses a rubber tube, also known as a pinch tube and a pinch mechanism to control the

fluid.

Pinch Valve is ideally suited for the handling of slurries, liquids with large amounts of

suspended solids, and systems that convey solid material pneumatically.

Pressure Relief Valve A pressure Relief valve or pressure safety

valve are used to protect equipment or piping system during an overpressure event or in

the event of vacuum.

This valve releases the pressure or vacuum at pre-defined set pressure.

No Injection Instrument Blanks for GC - Duration: 1:55.

Thanks for joining us for this Restek Tip where we will talk about no injection instrument blanks,

which are a really useful tool for scouting out where contamination that you're observing

in your data might be coming from. So, let's say you've got some unwanted peaks.

Now, they're peaks. They're sharp. They look like the other chromatographic peaks.

They aren't blobs. So you know this extraneous material is coming from before the column

because it's passing through the chromatographic system and being chromatographed.

That's why we see them as peaks. But, where? Could it be coming from inside of your inlet

or somewhere farther up the gas stream in your instrument?

Or is it coming from outside of your instrument?

Say you have a dirty rinse vial or syringe or maybe even your sample itself.

Well, one easy way to at least divide inside from outside of the instrument is to perform

a no injection instrument blank, which is exactly how it sounds.

You run your analysis without making an injection. And if you do that and still see the peaks present,

well then that's your sure fire sign that you have contamination originated from

somewhere inside the instrument. Maybe it's an O-ring or a piece of cored septa that's landed in your liner.

But if those peaks go away, during a no injection instrument blank,

now you know to focus your attention outside of the instrument.

So no injection instrument blanks really help you focus your troubleshooting,

save some time and I have found them to be particularly helpful.

Sírovec nakrájíme na zhruba centimetrové plátky, vložíme do hrnce s vodou, kterou ochutíme lžící koření a vaříme do měkka

Plátky necháme okapat a obalíme v klasickém trojobalu. Upečeme do zlatova na oleji z obou stran a necháme vychladnout

Plníme do skleniček, proložíme kousky cibule. Řízky ze sírovce ve sklenicích zalijeme vychladlým lákem a necháme chvíli odstát, až se lák vsákne do řízků, znovu dolijeme lák, aby byly řízky ponořené, zatáhneme víčka a sterilujeme, 20 minut při 90 C

Vychladlé pečenáče uložíme na chladné místo. Po mírném ochlazení se opět otepluje

V nejbližších dnech se budou teploty pohybovat mezi 20 až 25 stupni. Na samém konci měsíce pak nastanou tropy

Rtuť teploměru překročí třicítku, místy naměříme dokonce až 33 stupňů.

with a vibe.

That's the thing that you learn about sampling when you grew up off of shit like

Madlib and J, everything is a sample, everything.

Don't matter what, that's a sample.

It's always great to talk about the struggle and ... But sometimes you really just gotta

record is Ferg talking about his life in a way where everybody could have fun to it.

Basically how I did "Plain Jane," right?

I don't usually do this but I started with the drums and shit.

Then I added the hi-hats.

Then I layered the claps and all that shit.

I be also layering hi-hats and all that shit.

Layering is like one of the most important things like when you're producing.

You gotta make that shit sound fat, so it is the whole drum section all together.

I added a television like sound effect, like "shhh" like real quick just white noise and

shit just like that just to give it a little spice.

I'm from Grenada.

I'm from the "spice island" dog.

You gotta throw some spice on shit.

You can't just have a fucking unseasoned turkey, nigga.

This is the sound that everybody fucking talks about and they're like "Yo, Kirk, what the

fuck is this?"

I was taking the Q-train home.

It was late as fuck.

It was like probably 4AM and I was just like, yo, these train tracks, sound of this train

was coming but it sounded so fucking clear that I was like, yo, maybe I could fucking

record this shit.

And I recorded it on my iPhone.

Shit like that gives it ummph.

This is everything so far with the train tracks added.

This is literally a fucking spoon in a glass bowl for real, for real.

Stretched it.

Made it sound like fucking like grainy.

This I got from like a random cartoon effects kit.

Like I don't even know what the fuck this is, for real, but it's like a zombie or some shit.

I don't know.

If I got like a good bass, then it's like I could do a little digital here and there

so this is like Omnisphere.

So altogether, this is what you got now.

So, it's moving.

Now it got...you know what I'm saying?

So, now I'm like, alright, I need something that's gonna be like the lead.

So I was like alright, piano.

Let's do it.

I remember one time I was at RZA's house man and he told me one of the realest shit

that I still remember today.

He made a million before he knew how to play one key.

And that was kind of ... I don't know why that shit just hit me so crazy but I just

was like, yo you know, it made me eliminate the fear of not knowing how to play the fucking

keys.

I just had to drop that gem real quick, 'cause that was like one of the realest shit that

man ever told me and I still don't know how to play the keys and I'm triple platinum and shit.

So, it's like shout out to fucking RZA and shit.

That's a good solid foundation.

I'm like alright, so I need a little extra extra just to make it feel like it's complete

and that's how I was feeling, so I added this bell kind of sound that I got from a cheap

keyboard and shit like that.

This is what gave it the tribal feel to me.

It was an alright, Trap Lord!

One more time.

Let's just take the time out to appreciate the congos for real, the bongos, whatever

you want to call it.

'Cause I know once that first one goes off, that's when the crowd says, "Ride with the Mob."

Everything together, this is like the whole beat.

For real, for real.

The rush of you having to get out or the rush of excitement because of something going down.

Almost the fear that all rappers are gonna feel when this beat drop, that's kind of how

I looked at the whole entire record.

People miss the point of music.

If it is making you move your body or dance, then the artist did his job. That's why

I love this beat so much.

Divide & Conquer Troubleshooting - Duration: 2:47.

Hi and welcome to this Restek Tip.

So, your data or your instrument, or both,

are telling you you've got a problem somewhere. You have to do some troubleshooting.

Now, the first step for any trouble shooting is to get an accurate description of the problem that you are seeing.

However, we all know that a given problem could conceivably actually stem

from a variety of sources. So how do you know where to focus your attention when

you are doing troubleshooting? This is where a troubleshooting technique called divide and conquer

can really come to your assistance. Imagine your instrument as a series of components, and

your process as a series of components, working together to produce your data.

If you can begin to isolate those components and interrogate them individually,

you can figure out where your problem is and focus your troubleshooting attention.

So let me give you some examples. Take, for instance, you have an extraneous peak and you don't

know where it's coming from. You might, for instance, go and spend a lot of time on your

sample handling and preparation and syringes and rinse vials but before you do that,

let's figure out if the peak is in the instrument, coming from the instrument,

or coming from outside of the instrument. And to do that, for instance, we could run a

"no injection" instrument blank where you don't make any injection at all. If the peak is still there

then you know you have to focus your efforts somewhere probably in the inlet. If it isn't,

then now you have to focus your attention outside of the instrument. Or take for instance,

if you happen to have a situation where you have a two channel instrument where

both channels are configured the same, say a split splitliss to an FID both in the front and the back.

If you're experiencing a problem in the front, say, you might want to first switch the detector ends

of the columns so the front column is going into the back detector and now the back column is going

into the front detector. Rerun your analysis. If the problem stays with the front detector,

well you've changed everything else. It's the only thing that's the same.

And so, chances are, that's where your issue is.

But if it suddenly hops to the back detector, now you've said,

"It's probably not my detector. It's probably my column or my inlet."

So, divide and conquer can really help focus your troubleshooting efforts.

Reindeer's Color Changing Eyes Give Them Night Vision - Duration: 3:10.

[ ♪ Intro ]

Shine a light into the woods at night, and you might see the glow of eyes staring back at you.

But the eyes aren't actually glowing—they're reflecting light off a special layer of tissue

found in some animals called a tapetum lucidum.

The color and shape of this 'eye shine' can tell you what's peering at you from the darkness.

But things are more complicated if you're in the arctic regions of Norway.

Because there, reindeer change the color of that part of their eye seasonally.

That's right—the animals most famous for pulling Santa's sleigh have eyes that change

color to help them see in the darkness of winter.

Animals that need to see well in low light, like cats, raccoons and even reindeer, all

have tapeta lucida.

They sit in back of the eyes right in between the outer layers of the eye and the retina—the

part that actually "sees".

These thin tissues act as reflectors, giving retina a second chance at absorbing light.

Most animals have a particular color of eye shine which depends on the composition and

structure of their tapetum lucida.

But the Eurasian mountain reindeer is different—it's the only one we know of that switches colors,

changing from a summery golden yellow to a deep blue in winter.

And scientists think that's a side effect of how their eyes have adapted to long periods of darkness.

The arctic summers where they live have 24 hour days, and the winters include long stretches of night.

The animals compensate for this in part by making their retinas more responsive to low

light in winter.

And it's believed they can see some wavelengths of UV light.

But that's not the most obvious adaptation.

To see better when it's so dang dark, a reindeer's pupils open wide to let more

light in—kind of like yours do if you go into a dark room.

But when a pupil stretches wider it also flattens the front of the eye ever so slightly, which

increases the pressure inside the eye.

Since their pupils are constantly wide open during winter, that pressure builds up, squeezing

the tiny collagen fibers of the deer's tapetum lucidum closer together.

And this compression causes the color change.

The tightly-packed fibers strongly reflect shorter, blue wavelengths of light, while

the more spaced out ones reflect longer, yellow ones instead -- a phenomenon known as Bragg's Law.

Researchers can actually compress a dissected piece of the reindeer's eye with a tiny

weight and induce this same yellow to blue color change.

But the color isn't what's really important to the animal.

The compressed fibers also scatter light sideways through the retina instead of reflecting it

out of the eye, increasing the amount of light the retina can absorb.

While summer eyes reflect more than 95% of the light shone into them, winter eyes reflect only 40%.

And that likely means the reindeer can see in what seems like total blackness.

The only downside to this amazing feat is that, because light rays inside the eye are

more scattered, everything also looks a little fuzzier.

But that seems a small price to pay.

I wish I could trade a little blurriness for night vision!

BOHO BRAIDED HEADBAND!! 3 Hairstyles in One!! - Duration: 4:16.

hey it's Aislyn from Pretty Hair is Fun and this week we're gonna show you how to do

a boho braided headband. Let's get started. To start I've just given her

center part and crimped her hair, and the first thing I'm gonna do is just part

all of her hair just above her ears. I'm gonna pull this up and just clip it back.

Now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take a large section of hair right back here

from behind her ears and I'm just gonna three strand braid it.

I also like to go through and pull this just a little bit. Once you're down to

the bottom of your braid, I'm just gonna bring this above her ear and I'm gonna

put it against her forehead, and it's going to wrap it across her forehead like this.

And then from this side I'm just gonna grab, and anchor it back farther, then I'm

gonna grab a piece of hair and just using a clear elastic I'm going it to

anchor them together. And you'll want to try and ponytail as close to the head as

you can so it's not causing a little bump. The nice thing about anchoring it

back here on this side is you can wear at three different ways. You can wear it

across your forehead or you can wear it up here against your

hairline or you can even pull it up this way so it acts is an actual headband.

For this video I'm gonna leave it down here. The next thing I'm gonna do is I'm

just gonna go throughout her hair and braid some small braids; just doing

different braids like twist braids, fish tails, and just three strand. So I'm gonna

start over here and I'm just gonna take small sections from the top so that they

start immediately from her part.

Now I'm just going to do a regular three-strand braid but I'm gonna pull it

so it's nice and wide. Now I'm just going to do another twist braid right here in the back.

And for the last braid I'm just going to do another three strand braid right here.

Despite RNG's track record in finals and the usual dominance of the LCK, Karsa doesn't think their win was an upset: 'Before the final, I wasn't nervous

I had a special sense that we were going to win against Kingzone. Now we've gone and accomplished that, it was as expected

' Despite playing it cool in the post-match interview, there was no doubt how much this meant to Karsa

In a recent interview with Inven, RNG's coach said Karsa was a very emotional player and had cried a lot throughout the split

Fortunately for RNG, Karsa was only shedding tears of joy on stage in Paris - it was his first time competing in an international final and it couldn't have worked out any better

All of his hard work had paid off but Karsa admitted that it had been a struggle: 'This was a really tough season for me after joining a new region

'At first, I was unfamiliar with my teammates and with the LPL meta but now I'm really used to it

I've adapted well, I really like the food in China and can communicate with my team easily

'When I'm under-performing I get really sad but my teammates have helped me a lot, Ming especially is able to calm me and provide me with support

 I'm just super happy that all my dedication has paid off by us winning this championship

' Overcoming those personal struggles can only have made victory taste sweeter and Karsa says avenging his former team was the icing on the cake: 'I was with Flash Wolves for three years, I still have a really good relationship and connection with all of the people there

I'm sad that they lost to Kingzone but now I'm even happier we won, it feels like revenge

' Revenge is exactly what Kingzone will be looking for and they'll be even more desperate to prove themselves internationally when the World Championships return to Korea later this year

Yet, Karsa isn't concerned. The team are understandably on a high and have no intentions of slowing down: 'I have full trust in this team

I've been picking utility champions so all I have to do is not feed and this team will carry me

'I think we definitely can make it to Worlds this year and go far, I think we're super strong and super confident - our ultimate goal is that World Championship trophy

You mentioned that your main concern is that say the legislature and the

governor presumably are fair-- so just throwing this out to you what

would be unfair?

So one of the things especially at the petrochemical

manufacturing process you will pay utility tax on sales and use tax for

business utilities this what is the sale of steam, water natural gas and

electricity. Now from a refinery there are two separate into two separate

processes of which that's taxed. You have the natural gas that's used in the

manufacturing process which actually used to power boilers or there are

efficient processes that they use in order to capture refinery gas or reuse

it or whatever they're doing. However you also have the administrative buildings

right? So so if you have an organization like McDonald's or Walmart they would

pay tax at 2% to 4% sales tax on business utilities, however, what we

like prefer to happen is to be separated that way you have the manufacturing

piece is not taxed. Right? The pieces that are used in the creation of gasoline and

diesel or other petroleum products we would prefer that it remain either

the administration building is paying those business utilities but not used in

the manufacturing process because we'd have no problem paying our fair share as

part of the whole process that's but it's not about-- you know-- we want to be

treated equally as sales of some of the other business groups, not be unfairly

burdened with the revenue raisers that include paying tax on the actual

manufacturing process, natural gas steam water and electricity

to run those units because that's different then you know just powering a

building or which is what normally most businesses pay.

Do you see any concern at all coming up

with this special session?

It currently is taxed at 4% and will be

until July 1st when it'll drop down to 1% so yeah we're concerned about it. We

hope that it will not be part of the package that ends up moving forward but

we will continue to work with legislators, the governor or whatever we

can to make sure to communicate this this message of maintaining sort of

an equal share and proportionate impact and not unfairly tax on the

petrochemical side for those business utilities used in the manufacturing

process
