Youtube daily report Oct 8 2018

hey guys it's Theodore from practical psychology and today in this video

you're gonna get nine of the best life hacks to help you become more productive

well I've actually written an entire ebook of over 100 life hacks just like

these but let's get on to the first one number one focus on one task you'd be

surprised at how much you can actually accomplish when you sit down for 30

minutes and focus on just one task instead of trying to accomplish

10 things on your to-do list each day cut it down to 3 to 5 main things and

focus on those goals for a couple hours each day that means also making sure

they're decently sized goals not something like cleaning the kitchen are

doing your laundry but maybe something like reading a book things that can

actually take a couple hours of your time and eventually lead to continual

improvement or a positive ROI down the road why attack number two is batching

so batching is something that came intuitively to me but some people are

completely blown away when I explained the concept two of them basically when

you're planning this stuff you need to do put those things in categories that

are similar when you go to do them do them all at once for example instead of

writing a script recording a script editing a script and then animating a

video all in one day right all day long then record all day long

then edit all day long and then finally on the fourth day animate all day long

here's another example let's say you have to run mail to the post office you

have to go to the gym which is gonna require a shower clean your kitchen and

then go to the supermarket some people might do the things that I named in the

order that I named them but someone experienced in bashing would run to the

post office first then go to the gym and then go to the supermarket maybe a

little sweaty but it'll help you keep your groceries cold and then when you

finally get home put the groceries away and clean the kitchen because you're

already there and then finally take a shower it's a simple concept and it can

save you a lot of time life hack number three is to start using the Pomodoro

Technique time management isn't always easy when we're working and it's

especially hard when we're studying in college finishing a paper or studying

for a test can be very difficult when you have friends and roommates to your

mind to distract you well in the late 1980's Francesco Cirillo discovered a

technique to keep him focused during his university studies he was inspired by a

tomato shaped kitchen timer and the Italian word for tomato is Pomodoro and

that's where the technique is named after the Pomodoro Technique has since

gone on they become a well-known technique in time management inspiring

online timers blogs and similar time management techniques try using this

form of time management for studying writing papers and other long-term tasks

the Pomodoro Technique doesn't require their traditional tomato shaped timer

that inspired it all you have to do is set your phone or a kitchen timer a few

times and get focused so here are the steps at Cyrilla uses in the Pomodoro

Technique step number one pick a task to focus on for the next two hours step

number two set the timer traditionally the Pomodoro Technique recommends

setting your timer to twenty-five minutes this unit of time 25 minutes is

also nicknamed a Pomodoro step over three focus solely on that task until

the timer rings step number four when the timer does ring write a check mark

on a piece of paper step number five after you write that check mark take a

short three to five minute break and the last step is repeat steps two to five

for a total of three rounds you'll know you have finished three

rounds when there's three check marks on the piece of paper once you have

finished three Pomodoro's take a longer break this process can take all the way

up to thirty minutes but some people even take an hour break and if you still

have work to do just to repeat the entire process over again by fact number

four is really simple one it's just to get rid of distractions this is like the

easiest productivity hack out there yet so many people are distracted when they

actually work and trust me when I say I know I've worked on practical psychology

and a house with nine people living in it sometimes just renting a hotel room

and working is the blessing of the week even small distractions like

notifications on your phone can wreak crazy havoc on your to-do list life hack

number five is to actually love what you're doing well for the most part so

this one's more about motivation but will really come in handy at the end of

the month when you're looking back at what you've actually done if you

absolutely love what you're doing you will not have to fight procrastination

as hard and you'll have the natural drive to keep moving forward and keep

creating new goals this might mean a major life changing decision but if you

absolutely love what you're doing then you're gonna be so much closer to your

best happiness by fact number six is to actually get eight hours of quality

sleep getting eight hours of sleep isn't enough if you hear trucks blaring

outside you have the thermostat cranked at 77 degrees and you wake up around six

to seven times throughout the night not only do you need seven or more hours of

sleep but it also needs to be great quality sleep which means a kulish room

normal quiet ambient sounds and a comfortable bed in fact one of the

things you should actually overspend on in your life is a bed because you spend

such a large portion of your life on it and I have found it has a major impact

on your motivation willpower and productivity throughout the day one

night's rest can do wonders for your mind and your motivation my FAQ number

seven is to work out if you're trying to increase your productivity one of the

best things you can do is go to the gym and just workout it's been proven too

many studies that going to the gym for a couple hours a day can greatly increase

your overall productivity if it's done in the right manner

see the brain loves physical activity but make sure not to overdo yourself or

your productivity will actually be hindered eventually after going to the

gym for a couple weeks it'll become a habit and you'll start to love to see

the progress in yourself exercise can increase blood flow and produce hormones

that support focus and increase your willpower also exercising regularly can

also increase your average lifespan by 7 years and by exercising and also make

those 7 years less likely to be devoured by age-related and neurological diseases

like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's life hack number 8 is to outsource tedious

tasks so you should value yourself don't do super repetitive tasks that numb your

mind when you could do creative work that you've trained yourself in that

field also don't spend six months learning a new skill when you could

double down on a skill you already are proficient in and you could earn more

per hour by growing that skill you can outsource tasks on website like up work

that allow you to hire graphic designers virtual assistants web developers and

all other kinds of skills across the world learning to outsource your tasks

can save you a ton of time which allows you to spend your time doing more

high-value tasks that can actually pay off the outsourcing fee I might make a

whole video about this if you guys are interested leave a comment below if you

want a more in-depth video on how to outsource and the last life hack for you

is something called taking Tim Ferriss is low information diet of all that time

management videos I've watched and I've watched a ton I haven't seen any mention

this tip and it's my absolute favorite tip so the low information diet is an

idea I originally got from the 4-hour workweek written by Tim Ferriss Tim

talks about how most people consume media like TV shows news and social

media have fall into one of these sometimes more than one of these

categories they're either negative or relevant they're outside of your control

or time consuming well these things are not going to help you get to your goal

faster but eliminating them will help you get to your goal faster by the way

before I in this video if you want the e book that I wrote titled 120

productivity hacks all you have to do is check out the link in the description

below and you'll get a crazy discount just for being an awesome

subscriber and watching this whole video by the way you don't even know the

amount of work and thought process it took to write 120 hacks try thinking of

just 20 on your own thank you guys so much for watching this video I hope you

got insane value from it and please please PLEASE actually implement one of

these productivity hacks right now instead of just learning about it after

all these are all useless if you don't act upon them I'll see you in the next

video

X-Men Dark Phoenix NYCC LEAKED 14 Mins Footage FULL Description Breakdown - Duration: 6:01.

what is up YouTube Warstu here with a video on Dark Phoenix so at New

York Comic Con which is happening this current weekend there's some pretty cool

information going about so I will be covering various stories from New York

Comic Con that's come out this weekend so what's interesting is the Dark

Phoenix movie was originally called x-men dark Phoenix was supposed to come

out this year and now it's been delayed next year now no one knows is this due

to the merger is this due to Fox being bought out by Disney no one knows that I

just presume they want to make the movie perfect before their release it and I

really do love the x-men movies this is an x-men movie even though they're

calling it Dark Phoenix so guys we do have a competition going on a channel

all you got to do is answer the question down below

when will the x-men first appear in the MCU and what movie will it be in so some

interesting informations come out about Dark Phoenix Brandon Davis from

comicbook.com had this aside I just watched nearly 50 minutes of the

x-men Dark Phoenix and I'm sold on buying the ticket the Phoenix force can

really work in this one the opening scenes show the x-men team at a fluid

were the world leaves them and they have their own divides I love it so after

this a certain outlets were reporting detailed description of what happened

within these 14 minutes of the footage that was shown to people at New York

Comic Con I'm not sure if it was shown to everyone on just media people you

know how these kind of things work I was gonna go to this event but suddenly it

would mean me having to jump on the plane for 10 hours so I couldn't make it

as you hopefully I will get out to the New York Comic Con next year or San

Diego Comic Con so careful for spoilers because it is kind of spoilery in a way

but it is only the first fourteen minutes so it reads like this in the

Dark Phoenix which is the x-men are an established team at this point in time

already when the NASA Space Shuttle Endeavor gets not off course in space

the United States president calls professor act on an x-men branded

landline phone in order to receive the team's help well hang is doubtful the

x-jet will be able to get to space and voice these concerns to Professor X

the team ultimately goes on a rescue mission mission as a led by Raven who

has reservations of her own that Jean Grey asked her about once in space Raven

directs the other members of the team on how their powers to save the NASA

shuttle crew from where their ship is trapped spinning near by a red-orange

energy mass Cyclops weapon is specifically fitted on the Q jet for his

powers to blast the shuttle and make it stop spinning then the night crawler

transporter over inside the shuttle and rescues the crew all while storm plugs

holes in the shuttle hall with ice although the x-men are able to save the

shuttle team their captain gets left behind Raven wants to cut their losses

since the energy mass is about to admit a deadly solar flare but Professor X

demands the team leaves no one behind so Nightcrawler transports Jean to the

ship where she holds it together while he retrieves the human captain however

Nightcrawler doesn't make it back to Jean in time and is only able to get the

human to safe leaving Jean behind in a shuttle when it's hit by the solar flare

Jean absorbs the energy from what's described as a solar flare we know this

is that Phoenix come on guys we know this then another flare threatens the

x-jet but Jean manages to redirect and absorb the second flare as well while

Jean is absorbing the energy the scene briefly cuts to Professor X feeling

through jeans mind when what's happening once she absorbs all the energy

Nightcrawler recovers her and it's clear the x-men

believe her to be dead but Gina still alive the x-men take her home

where she is fine after the mission Raven and Professor X get into an

argument about taking too many risks to save humans life

he says mutants are one bad day away from being hunted again and that the

x-men been a beacon of good is important to keep the mutant mutant safe really

ends the argument vive dropping a few sniggers about how the woman on the team

are always saving the men and maybe faster X should change the name to

ex woman now that's kind of funny and true although the scenes showcase a

fully utilized x-men team and how exactly Jean does go on to become the

Phoenix none of the footage revealed what come

next for the group so it's kind of interesting it gives you an insight and

overall comments our people are looking forward to it

it just seems like they don't want to mess up this movie it went on to say

that Jean Grey and the x-men team as a whole are coming across really good so

viewers can expect the movie to play a more traumatic element of the Dark

Phoenix saga storyline from the comic books but as evidenced by the footage

that screen the Dark Phoenix will also include plenty of science fiction

elements while it ultimately a better adaptation of a comic book story and

it's gonna hit next summer so I presume the reshoots we don't know if there are

actually extended but it seems like they're just putting more kind of

empathy they're trying to make the movie perfect the fact that the are actually

going into space and we're gonna see how Jean Grey actually gets the Phoenix

force is going to be pretty cool I'm a bit disappointed because I was really

looking forward to actually seeing this movie sooner rather than later but if

they do take longer to make a better movie then it I'm all for that so anyway

guys please like subscribe and comment like I said I will be reporting on more

information informative based videos about what happens at New York Comic Con

this weekend anywhere guys I will catch you in that next video and later on

tonight catch you later

Yaksha: Rozbieham FCK THEM v Amerike - Duration: 6:12.

WHAT WAS YOUR CHILDHOOD LIKE?

My childhood was absolutely great, because I grew up when all of the neighbors knew each other,

all of the children in the neighborhood knew each other's surnames,

we often dined with our neighbors,

had sleepovers and so on.

So it's been a great childhood, which is not so common these days I think.

But I guess it's also because I was raised in a smaller town,

which Martin probably can be called a smaller town.

That's not an insult.

But at the time when I was growing up,

foreigners in the neighborhood or in Slovakia in general were not quite a common sight.

It didn't strike me as racism per se

and I'm convinced that it wasn't even meant to be racism by these people,

but for them it was something different that each person reacted to in their own way, you know?

For example, I've had friends, whose parents have forbidden them to be friends with me,

because after all, they were different.

I remember a funny story that when I've asked that friend about it,

he told me "It's not my fault that my mom is racist!"

At the time I did not actually understand what or who is a racist.

But I don't think that at the time it was racism,

I just think that back then,

people just didn't know how to accept others that are different.

HOW DID YOUR NICKNAME COME UP?

The way I've been nicknamed Yaksha is quite a story.

My couch of Thai boxing was signing me up for first boxing matches and of course,

since my exotic look was quite attractive,

or at the time was quite attractive for the Thai boxing posters,

he didn't want to put Michal Novotný and a picture of an asian dude going into the boxing match,

so he actually made up a Thai name for me

and the full name was Phuen Yaksha.

Phuen means friend, or friendly

and Yaksha is actually a mythical giant.

So it's sort of like a spirit.

WHAT DO YOU GET FROM SPORTS? I practice sports to feel fit

and I think it's very important, for people that are growing,

or searching for themselves, to practice some kind of a sport,

maybe even something harder, where more discipline is required,

because more discipline can only help anyone.

In anything they'll do in life.

WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY DO? Today, when someone asks me about what I do,

the answer is actually very hard for me, because the question always…

… I usually always follow up with another question,

that is "Ask me when?

What are you interested in me doing at what time?"

You know, because I have a number of projects going on

and I dedicate certain time to each one

and if someone asks me "What do you actually do?",

I just answer "Well this week I am working on this project for example,

last week, or a month ago I was working on another project…"

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON? The question „What is occupying me the most at the moment?"

would be easier to answer if it was asking about

what is not occupying me at the moment.

We are currently not investing a lot of energy into PAY.

I'll give that a rest for now,

because I have so many other activities, especially new activities.

I have now joined this company that is working with cars,

also we'll soon be launching sales of coldpress juices in the whole Czechoslovakia,

so the amount of activities that are on top of those activities

that I've already had, keeps growing.

So that's what I'm currently occupied by.

Other than the fact that I would like to

intensify the publishing activities of F*CK THEM in the States,

that are already quite largescale...

WHAT DOES YOUR WORK DAY LOOK LIKE? My normal work day begins

with me shooting Instastories about what I'm having for breakfast.

This is how my work day starts most of the time,

because social networks are of course very tied to my work.

I use social networks for promoting my work,

my projects, my partners, things I'm woring on

and my work day really usually starts with breakfast.

Start of the day is always about daily planning.

And after that it's about following the plan.

Whether it's meetings, or time that I dedicate to e-mails…

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU? I am mainly motivated by freedom... I am mainly motivated by freedom...

the freedom to do what I want. What I believe in.

And it's a bit of a vicious circle,

because I work hard to make sure that

I don't have to do something that I don't want to do.

That is why I work on my own stuff a lot

and I focus on them a lot so that I don't have to do things I don't want to…

which I've been successful at for some years now,

so I am not doing nothing I don't want to do.

So yeah.

DO YOU FEEL HATE? I do not feel any hate,

because everyone loves me.

(laughs)

What? I would take that as an answer, why not.

YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE? So, regarding my plans for the future

I'd like to finish all of the projects,

or launch the projects I'm currently working on

and take a stand on the United States now.

I will probably have to move there for some time,

so...

F*CK THEM in America.

That is pretty much my biggest plan for the future

aside from all of the projects that were already mentioned.

Launch them.

Those are the plans for the closest future.

To finish off, I'd like to tell people that again,

they've spent a lot of time watching this interview

instead of working on something on their own

and instead they've followed my yapping.

Hope it's motivated them enough to go and rule the world now.

That's the message I have for everyone.

Princess Eugenie's Wedding Playlist! Andrea Bocelli to Perform at Royal Ceremony - Duration: 4:27.

The star power at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's royal wedding won't be limited to the guest list

According to the palace, the couple have tapped Andrea Bocelli to perform at their wedding ceremony, which will be held on Friday at St

George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. The famed Italian tenor will sing two pieces.  The director of music at St

George's Chapel, James Vivian, has composed descants for two hymns that will be sung during the couple's royal wedding ceremony

Additionally, musicians from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra — for which the father of the bride, Prince Andrew, is a patron — will perform during the nuptials

"It has been a great pleasure to work with HRH Princess Eugenie and Mr. Jack Brooksbank to plan the music for their special day and we wish the couple much happiness for their future together," James Williams, the managing director of the RPO shared

State Trumpeters from the Band of the Household Cavalry will perform a fanfare that was written for the ceremony

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's May wedding included a gospel choir performing a rendition of singer-songwriter Ben E

King's "Stand By Me."  Elton John performed at Meghan and Harry's lunch reception, hosted by Queen Elizabeth at St

George's Hall at Windsor Castle. A guest tells PEOPLE John sang — among other songs — his 1971 hit "Tiny Dancer," dedicating the tune to the bride

Buckingham Palace also shared details on a key element of Eugenie and Jack's wedding day: Their cake! The couple chose bespoke cake maker (and former costume designer) Sophie Cabot to create the perfect autumn-inspired dessert for their big day

"The red velvet and chocolate cake will be a traditional cake, with a modern feel," Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Saturday

"It will incorporate the rich colors of autumn in its design and will be covered with detailed sugar work including ivy

"  In a sweet nod, the wedding will also honor their family's military service.  "Members of Nijmegen Company Grenadier Guards, of which The Duke of York is Colonel, will line the West Steps of St George's Chapel as the couple depart after the Wedding ceremony," the palace announcement explains

The memory of Jack's great-grandfather, Sir Jack Coke, who was an officer in the Scots Guards, will also be honored as pipers from the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland will perform Scottish pieces from the Garter Tower as Eugenie and Jack depart in the carriage procession

The ceremony will be officiated by The Dean of Windsor, The Rt. Revd. David Conner, who will also give the address at their wedding

The Archbishop of York has written a personal prayer for the couple, which will be included in the ceremony

Although Princess Eugenie admitted organizing her upcoming wedding might be nerve-wracking, she's definitely no royal bridezilla

"I'm not stressed at all," she told British Vogue in their September issue, in her first ever joint interview with sister and maid of honor Princess Beatrice

"It's nerve-racking because you want it to be perfect, but then you realize that you're going to be with the person you love forever and nothing else really matters

LE MUSCLE UP PARFAIT ? - Duration: 8:38.

Hi you after my video about the Swiss champions I already had already it was three months ago I planned to teach you to make a front lever

and to be credible I told you I wouldn't video

before I have even managed to keep at least 20 seconds after 16 seconds I

down then back up and down and brief because it takes more time than expected let me

turn on a tutorial muscle up because up there I consider myself good enough to explain how to master

What is a muscle up in English that means muscles upwards explains nothing it's not super seller we linger no more

on the etymology that in the end what's better than the Visual for ok looks like this and this can be broken down into three steps

a pull a passage of the underworld is a dips socially now a muscle up it is a movement that will spark

the attention and sometimes even admiration

your peers that they send you a muscle up your package of muscles that shrinks the latissimus dorsi ABS and biceps at the beginning the

pectorals, triceps and ABS always on the end

habitat now you can find street workout of course but also in cross made in street workout we try to give an impression

control this is why unlike our crossfit cousins we avoid one

maximum of fussing so this sport practitioners have don't care of the beauty of the gesture so that nothing of their

It's ugly their goal is to send a max of

repetition is an another frenzy so you can make fun of their mouth if you want, but it's their right to play in the

Maggots

your best time to leave them alone and to go practicing because Yes you work in street workout there are several breeds of muscle up

who have emerged with time crosses genetic selection all this stuff you know you has my favorite

muscle explosive up to which they make a package

acceleration to takeoff your muscle up slow or instead you go slowly with here two variants of false grip you muscle up

making wide for tight and full grip on the other

in this video I'm going to talk exclusively about the classic muscle up and give the principle that will allow you to learn all its variants if you

have listened thirty seconds ago I was told that we could break down the movement into three phases to start your attraction

all in the end you have the dips is between two you have a putin of passage to hell

I think that if you are looking to place a muscle up is that already able to align some traction otherwise you have gone wrong for the future but

I'm not talking to you about any traction traction we're going to talk about a particularity

she is super ugly

it's not a nice kid's pull what you're going to do is put your hands shoulder width because going up you're going to get

made a circular motion around the bar now you're going to be sent forward keeping a tension in his arms and going

search as far as possible with your feet just before your arms unfolds completely and you dislodge your elbows who will use the reflex

myotatic a myotatic reflex that corresponds to the contraction of a muscle following its own stretching and

shoot until the bar is at your torso but not after that is where the attraction stops

since you make a movement in an explosive way, that is to say by shooting like a bitch, there is a good chance that your

momentum allow to pass to the level of the passage of the underworld and that's not a problem so far

exclusively due to momentum looks against the bar arrives at the level of my torce can not continue to pull me I did not say that I could

not continue to climb I said that the attraction stopped there because he at that moment

like the passages from hell now tell me if I speak to you about a passage from the underworld

does it make you want to go sightseeing

the passage of the underworld is what starts right after your pull is a position in which your elbows take mega expensive if you try to ride

in strength with level 1 level joints

4 or level 5 minimum as a beginner what I want you to do is that this passage from the underworld you cross it the

as soon as possible as a crater nothing after with attraction you have to propel yourself

enough so that handles can

return to the position that allows you to follow on your dips

I want your muscle up to be nothing more than a pull

followed by a dips over time when you have your joints up you can test the slow muscle up and go through the underworld as a

cowboy you can even take the time to contemplate all the little elbows that line the ground it's super cute all these little elbows they belong

to still impatient

unable to get high enough on their traction but we try to force the thing passing one elbow after another you know I'm kidding

a lot with that and necessarily have come out without my method but in the end you want what you want to destroy everything ?

awesome me too too we all want to destroy everything but put on the long run it will take us a risk

useless arm useless useless then you'll win two weeks maybe you'll take two weeks faster

two weeks is that slab

like an elbow injury that follows you all your life it's not worth two weeks of a muscle up faster not at all

The dips are mostly run on parallel bars they allow to work triceps and pecs perso I have them

long combined with pushups and strongly suspects this alliance of being responsible for the tits that I fool myself

That's what interests us here is a variant of dips called dips or French bars that would give dips to

the bar the principle is to place hands on the same bar with the same space as on your traction to go down as low

that joints and shoulders earth allow him and back I want your dips can take over the attraction so more

you are able to go down with your dips better it's

In our sport we often take gymnastics moves that we will spend a little like drunkards thanks to the force and if we

leaves much of the technique aside because unlike a gymnast who can learn in club and with a coach

we had to be done alone either in our room or in the street I speak to you

I'm talking to you about this because our cousins gymnasts have something called the switch in this movement

thanks to a good technique you find yourself above the bar

without bending the arms

you will not even use force us during a freestyle chaining when we try to go over the bar while keeping the

blur, that is to say the fluidity of the sequences

we're going to make a muscle up dynamic

it looks like a rocker but it's not one because your arms spli you might think it's a muscle up but when your

legs sway at even a crossfitter does not valid ladies and gentlemen make a thunderous applause for the muscle up dynamic

It is not necessary to use legs to progress

Another good way to progress to the muscle up is to use the bands of resistance you start with the widest one ie

that help you the most and you end up with the finest that is to say the one that helps you me that's why I want you

advise to buy a whole family of elastics you start with the dad you chained on the mother and to finish the baby band

Well I take advantage of having the great world champion and rick flag with me they go out to ask him is what you would have a

little tip I will have a little exercise that my subscribers could do to reach the muscle up easily if they ever block a single exercise

to succeed the muscle up the muscle up

negatives like all the exos of street you go up you go down you try to slow down as much as possible

especially the transition and you continue you start again you will thank you very much to Eric with pleasure

it's how much I'm strong so I need you more

This technique of the negative up muscle which ultimately consists of crossing the underworld and which goes against everything

that I told you so far she really helped eric but you have to understand that eric who did six years of musculation

before going to the street that is to say that he already had titanium joints

it's at levels 8 if I'm not mistaken eric you'll correct me when he started if you start from scratch

my advice will be to avoid the passage of the underworld

Well here I think that everything that should be said about this movement has been said yet it's not over it's even rather

now that it starts

For the next time I'll give you a homework assignment

in fact I want you to learn how to make the muscle up as you film your progress

ie trainings and

attempts until you manage to make the move I would compile and I will comment what you sent me and to thank you I

will leave you five seconds of free speech on my channel

How Do You Find a Professional Helper - Duration: 2:02.

Are you or do you know someone who is jumpy after experiencing a tragic event?

Maybe cries a lot for no particular reason?

Sees things or hears things that others do not hear?

Or maybe is often told that they're too thin?

These are just a few of the many reasons we might need to seek the assistance of a professional helper.

Finding and utilizing a helping professional is simply a way to be a good steward of our lives.

Doing so can enable us to enjoy our lives and to reach our fullest potential.

I am Eddie Moody.

I have worked in professional helping settings for more than 25 years.

What is it that you're looking for in a professional helper?

Well think about the four C's.

You're looking for someone who's a Christian,

Someone who's competent and capable of dealing with your particular problem,

And of course you want someone that's caring: that's empathetic toward your needs.

What is it that makes the helping process work?

The relationship between you and the helper.

Being confidential setting where you know what you talk about it's not going to be repeated.

And then receiving advice and feedback from someone who has dealt with many people with that same problem

All of these things work together for an effective helping relationship.

There's a lot you need to know about finding help.

For example, do you need a professional counselor, a psychologist, a psychiatrist or social worker?

What about a physician?

That is why I've written this booklet on finding help.

In it you will find a wealth of resources for finding and utilizing helping professionals.

I hope you will use this booklet to help yourself and those around you.

The Musical Genius Behind the "Friends" Theme Also Wrote "September" - Duration: 3:04.

- [Narrator] This is the woman behind what is arguably

the most iconic theme song on television.

("I'll Be There For You" by The Rembrandts)

But did you know that this woman is also responsible

for some of the most iconic songs

on the radio in the last century?

- Biggest hits would be "September,"

- [Narrator] OK.

("September" by Earth, Wind & Fire)

- [Allee] "What Have I Done To Deserve This,"

- [Narrator] Oh, that's a good one!

("What Have I Done To Deserve This" by Pet Shop Boys)

("Stir It Up" by Patti LaBelle)

- [Allee] Stir It Up from Beverly Hills Cop,

- [Narrator] That one, too?

- [Allee] "You're The Best" from "Karate Kid,"

- [Narrator] I know that one!

- [Allee] The Color Purple musical.

- [Narrator] That's a lot of songs!

- I've written over a thousand songs.

- [Narrator] Jeez.

(electronic music)

(birds chirping)

(upbeat music)

- I'm Allee Willis.

I am a Songwriters Hall of Fame,

Grammy, Emmy, Tony, and Webby award winning

and nominated songwriter, artist,

director, collector, art director,

social artist, party-thrower.

Most important one.

(upbeat music)

I don't know how to do anything.

I don't know how to play an instrument, read or write music.

(maraca rattles)

(laughing)

I had seen less than five musicals

before I wrote "The Color Purple."

I'm best when I don't know what I'm doing.

- [Narrator] In that case, she really must not

have known what she was doing when she wrote

"I'll Be There For You," the theme song for "Friends."

It went on to land her an Emmy nomination--

- And we lost to the theme from "Star Trek: Voyager."

I dare anyone to sing that now.

("Star Trek: Voyager" Main Title)

It's like, really?

Compared to the "Friends" theme?

But, that's how it goes.

("I'll Be There For You" by The Rembrandts)

- [Narrator] Nevertheless, "I'll Be There" For You

went down in pop culture history,

just like Allee's earlier big hit,

"September" by Earth, Wind & Fire.

- Do you remember the 21st night of September?

Love was changing the minds of pretenders,

while chasing the clouds away.

We very purposely wanted to write a happy song,

and I don't think there's any happier song than "September."

- The beginning of 1978, I was on food stamps,

medical assistance, really as close as you could be

to welfare without actually being on it.

By the end of the year I'd sold 10 million records.

It was a surreal experience, which my entire life is, so.

If I wasn't allowed to be creative,

I would shrivel up and die, I think.

Open the coffin, when you throw me in there,

that's when I stop.

Though probably I'll still be like, banging the sides,

hearing some kind of beat.

(ringing music)

Should You Wear Jeans With A Suit Jacket Or Blazer? - Duration: 13:16.

Welcome back to the Gentleman's Gazette!

Have you ever asked yourselves, should I wear a jacket with jeans?

Is it too formal, is it just right?

Well in today's video we'll talk about nothing but jeans, blazers and suit jackets.

When you can wear them, when you should avoid them and anything else you want to know about

those combinations.

Obviously it's a very similar question to can I wear a jacket without a tie and we discussed

it in a separate video here.

When should you wear a jacket with denim is a popular question because many men today

wear it, yet it goes against traditional style rules because jeans used to be strictly blue-collar

workwear.

Today, men's style is a lot more casual than it used to be 50 or 60 years ago and jeans

are probably the number one worn pants by men.

As everything gets more casual of course a lot of men try to wear jeans with anything

else they have in their wardrobe particularly suit separates because that's what they sometimes

have to wear to work.

In an attempt to dress up their jeans or to dress down their suit they simply combine

the two but it rarely works and it hardly ever looks advantageous unless you follow

a few clear-cut rules.

The issue of suit jackets with jeans is that it is a clash of formalities.

Typically it's a combination seen worn by middle managers who want to seem approachable

yet be a cut above their subordinates.

It's definitely a fine line to walk but dressing purposefully and thoughtfully is the key here.

Personally I hardly ever wear jeans with a jacket, it's simply not my style.

But here is how you can pull it off.

First of all pair your blazer or sport coat only with your dressiest jeans.

That means no holes and no used look.

Also it's really important that you have enough contrast between your sport coat and your

jeans.

If you have a dark washed denim with a dark navy blazer it's not enough contrast and it

looks odd because it's similar yet it's not a suit and it's just weird.

So in general, a medium dark wash or something slightly lighter is best.

It's essential that your jeans don't puddle and are hemmed to the exactly right length.

To learn more about what length is right for you, check out this video here.

In terms of cut, a straight leg or maybe something that slightly tapered works best.

Definitely avoid really baggy cuts as well as a bootcut.

Also don't cuff or pin roll your jeans because that's simply too casual.

If you still want to learn how to do it please check out this video here.

Two, rather than going with a navy blazer instead branch out and maybe go with jackets

that have different colors as well as patterns and materials because that's more contrasting

or interesting, but also more casual and it works better with jeans.

Good features include notch lapels because peak lapels would be too formal.

You can also have patch pockets because they're more formal than jetted pockets or flat pockets.

In terms of patterns, you can go with little houndstooth pattern

maybe a small micro check or a classic Prince of Wales check.

When it comes to material compositions, 100% wool is okay but to make it more casual add

cotton and linen blends sometimes wool linen or wool cotton blends or sometimes also a

little bit of silk or cashmere for a softer hand and touch.

In terms of jacket colors, you can go with lighter shades of blue, maybe a royal blue

for example or even a lighter blue.

Overchecks could be in red or an orange because that's a little more casual.

In the winter brown tones are great especially as a Glen check with dark brown and off-white

or maybe a herringbone jacket in a medium brown.

With all those lighter colors, one pair of dark washed denim really works best because

it provides a contrast and it's a classic jeans color.

The personal favorite of mine is the color green it goes really well with dark washed

denim.

And to learn more about why green is underrated in menswear, please check out this video here.

Also definitely avoid white or off-white jackets because the

denim will color off on it and the contrast is too strong.

Three, make sure to wear your denim and your sport coat with casual shirts to bridge the

gap formalities.

Long-sleeve dress shirts are good but ideally you should avoid the most formal variations

in solid white because they're just too businesslike.

Instead maybe you go with an off-white or a green shirt maybe something with a rougher

texture and maybe skip ironing to create a more casual look.

Alternatively you can also go with button-down collars because they are more casual and check

shirts, as well as little houndstooth shirts because they're also more casual than solids.

If you want something like a solid I suggest an Oxford fabric with a two-tone maybe light

blue and white because it's durable and more casual.

No matter what shirt you choose always tuck it in because an untucked shirt with a sport

coat or a suit jacket simply looks odd.

Four, wear the combination of jeans and sport coat with the right kind of shoes.

Black Oxfords are way too formal and not appropriate here.

At the same time boat shoes are too informal and should likewise be avoided.

So what should you wear?

Ideally go with brown tones or burgundy and oxblood.

If you want to be a little more experimental you can think about olive green, grey or maybe

navy.

In terms of styles a classic derby shoe is good just like those burgundy derbies or these

olive green derbies on a very Parisian elegant last.

Because of the color it makes them work with a jeans and a sport coat.

Alternatively you could opt for loafers either tassel loafers or penny loafers, both work.

Another good options are monk straps such as those brown single monks with some broguing

and a wingtip or those more fashion-forward double monks in burgundy.

If you want to go with oxfords go with brogues either half brogues or full brogues because

that's casual enough to wear with jeans and it ties the ensemble together with your sport

coat.

Other good options include chukka boots or chelsea boots.

In terms of leather texture, suede is really great to combine with jeans and a sport coat.

Why?

Simply because it's a little more casual.

It's less serious and as such it ties together those two elements of different formalities

So now that you know how and when to wear a blazer with jeans, the question is, when

should you not wear those two items together?

First of all the biggest mistake I see men make in this situation is that they pair a

traditional business suit with a pair of jeans they have.

Particularly it's that black business suit jacket or that pinstripe jacket that they

wear with dark blue jeans and it just looks weird and odd.

As discussed before, while some suit jackets can be worn with jeans especially if they're

more casual any kind of business suit should not be combined with jeans, that includes

solid navy jackets or maybe solid grey jackets but also any kind of stripe, pinstripe, rope

stripe or chalk stripe.

They won't look good with jeans.

Don't combine jeans with a double-breasted business jacket.

Double-breasted is typically more formal.

It has peak lapels and as such is even more formal than a single breasted blazer with

patch pockets.

Hence, avoid.

However in recent years double-breasted jackets have become a lot more popular especially

at Pitti Uomo.

And if you have something that has a nice linen blend maybe with the Prince of Wales

pattern and lighter colors, you can definitely combine them with jeans.

Never wear a t-shirt with jeans underneath a jacket because it's a clash of formalities.

Either you wear just a t-shirt and some jeans and you skip the jacket all together or you

opt for the jacket but you go with a casual dress shirt or this blend of polo shirt and

dress shirt I mentioned before.

Four, never wear any kind of black shoes especially not black dress shoes with this combination

because it looks out of place.

Black is fine for formal business suits and office wear but not when you were jeans.

Instead go with browns, tan tones, burgundy tones, greens or anything else but not black.

To learn why black is one of the most overrated colors in menswear, please check out this

video here.

Five, jeans with a jacket are not ideal if you want to wear a tie, a bow tie or maybe

an ascot simply because it would be too formal and a clash.

So if you opt for the combination of jacket and jeans forgo your tie and your neck wear

instead go with a pocket square or maybe a boutonniere because that creates a visual

interest and it just creates for a more polished look.

For a selection of pocket squares that are perfect to be worn with jeans and a sport

coat please check out our store here.

You'll also find boutonnieres there that will just round out your outfit.

Six, you don't want to wear jeans with a jacket if you want to have a formal dress shirt.

That means, double cuffs with cufflinks because that's too formal for regular cotton denim.

Likewise, a solid white shirt is not appropriate.

A light blue might work.

Maybe go with a different texture, a different weave that is more open so it breathes better

and you're more comfortable during the summer.

Striped shirts can work especially if you have bolder stripes, wider or larger scale

stripes or maybe stripes in a different color.

At the same time the whole ensemble has to work together.

And we'll cover the specific skill of combining patterns especially stripes in a different

video.

Don't wear jeans and a sport coat if you don't know the dress code or if you're unsure about

the formality at the event or the occasion you will wear it to.

Why you might wonder?

Well, if you're not sure about a dress code it always pays to dress one notch up.

In that case it would mean wearing your blazer with a pair of chinos rather than your jeans.

Alternatively if you think that's over-the-top you can skip the jacket and just go with a

casual dress shirt and a pair of slacks either chinos or jeans depending on what you think

is right for the occasion.

By the way during the colder months of the year, a tweed jacket

works really well with jeans simply because it's more casual by definition.

It has a coarser weave.

It has more warmer earth tones and so it's a great jacket that is usually single breasted

and has notch lapels which makes it again less formal and therefore perfectly suited

for jeans.

That being said there are tons of other jackets which are less formal and therefore equally

as well suited to jeans as a tweed jacket.

Some of them include a Panama jacket which is more of a summery jacket.

Another one, the Harrington jacket and you can check out more in our Harrington jacket

guide here.

So in conclusion, you can definitely wear a jacket with jeans just make sure it's casual

enough and not your typical business suit.

When it comes to foot wear, brown shoes are your friend and make sure it's not too casual

but also not too formal.

In today's video I'm wearing a combination of dark wash denim jeans and a suit jacket

which is part of a Prince of Wales suit with a slight brown over check.

Obviously there's a lot of contrast between the jacket and so it works.

I combined it with a cream or off-white dress shirt.

It has button cuffs, no French cuffs.

And I also decided to leave them undone because it's a little warmer outside and it simply

adds a more casual flare to your overall ensemble.

Of course I skipped the necktie and instead I went with a very casual pocket square which

is made out of a handcrafted linen with hand rolled edges and X stitches.

You can find a rich selection of those pocket squares in this color or others in our shop

here.

For my shoes I opted for a reddish chestnut brown monk strap with silver buckles and a

wingtip full brogue and I combined it with a belt in the same kind of color tone which

is alligator and also has a silver buckle so everything is harmonious and works.

For my socks I opted for a pair of Fort Belvedere socks in navy blue and yellow because they

provide a bit of contrast to the shoe as well as the jeans yet they tie everything well

together.
