H & H Welding - About Metfab Press Brake and Shear - Duration: 6:11.
We are H &H Welding. We're located in Langley, BC, Canada. We're just a small business,
we are doing a lot of structural work for BC Hydro and
we're happy to meet up with Metfab
Our main type of work we do here
pole line hardware and distribution for for Hydro and in transmission with electrical
distribution and and we require your press break to form and stamp
lots of our products here.
In our shop, we currently have a cut-off saw,
a couple ironworkers, stamping press, press break and shear by Metfab.
Our main customer is BC Hydro, we do a lot of work for them. They require everything from
structures to electrical boxes in aluminum and again shearing and forming
major components to produce some of these products
The shearing aspect in the shop is probably 40% of the work
and the press break would be almost 80 to 90% of our products
we are working those two particular machines.
We also contract out any of the forming
we will subcontract plate burning and plasma,
we don't have that machine, then we need to subcontract out.
We've always had a shear and a press brake in the shop
we're in business for close to 45 years now and the shear has been a staple
equipment in the shop
All of the things we need for the products, we're doing here.
I guess we like to primarily do stuff in the shop,
products that are custom made or custom ordered or
what sets us apart from maybe other manufactures
and like the specialty items, one-off items.
So we can stay away
from other competitors by doing that.
We were looking at the Durma and Accurpress
prior to meeting Martin and Metfab and we were shopping around for a
press break because the old manual machine is just getting too slow, not enough tonnage
and we need to further advances of the company with the
products that we are making.
I met Martin through Praxair and he came up with a
proposal to make a machine up for us that's gonna fit our needs.
We found the right size machine that was the right time we needed and I guess what
set the machine apart was the footprint and so we're a small shop, we've got
a small space to work with, so we needed the smaller footprint machine but larger
tonnage and Metfab was able to put that together for us right.
After meeting Martin and the way he presents himself and
the company it's just outstanding. And we had a good relationship right away, so lets go.
Finding the Machine was to put a good
package price for together at first for pricing and delivery.
The machine came and a couple guys came in, set everything up.
We did trials for one week and training for a week.
The machine was outstanding, you know we just couldn't ask for anything more.
A lot of products we do, we have to metal stamp them with characters and
we presented this challenge to Martin and a few weeks went by and they came up with
a design to make up stamping tooling to adapt to the press break
and he made the two stamping dies and they work awesome.
We do all our stamping and bending and it just speeds up the whole process
on each product and they were able to do that for us.
I think one more advantages is the customer service
and the time and efforts if you have a question or something happens on machine.
A quick email to Metfab and they're answering our
problems within a hour to resolving issuses.
It's done by email or photos, so the service is really good.
I can't speak highly enough of Martin and Metfab.
After having the machines on running
here for a couple of years, we just don't know how we could have done
our production without this machines.
The shear is here for one year now and it's been running good.
The press brake and the way we can set up multiple setups on the machine,
it's like a dream come true.
We can do 3 or 4 processes with stamping,
3 or 4 types of bends on each product and we only have to
handle that piece, once, rather than four or five times during the old way.
It's been a really good machine for us.

Hush, speak less loudly They are listening to us throughout the door
Hush, speak less loudly Mom they are surrounding me and I'm losing myself
Hush, you that is speaking in my head I'm scrutinized everywhere I talk aloud
You do not know what I live, you do not know what's happening to me
This island broke my youth and my dreams
is isolitary confinement the worst ? Outside or inside, men lie
Flashes of guards striking animals without leaders leaving me crumbling
Checkmate The blue sky is a leaden sky
Fresh air is a myth It does not give back the years
Does not heal wounds
I was amputated from my youth Do we cure a leper ?
Deposition under oath, I am told « content yourself to be free »
The police, the city , the justice, they will all have to pay
Far from excusing themselves, they even question my story
my skin color is a problem, they are running away
they seek the flaw But the only one that exists
It's here, inside my brain
Hush, speak less loudly They are listening to us throughout the door
Hush, speak less loudly Mom they are surrounding me and I'm losing myself
Hush, you that is speaking in my head I'm scrutinized everywhere I talk aloud
You do not know what I live, you do not know what's happening to me
This island broke my youth and my dreams
Everyone tells me that I am a damned tamed by a cursed fate
The street reserves me hard words, TV would have enriched me
I only ask for justice, rebuild myself then bounce
The system and the streets, everyone is harassing me, Why are they so aggressive?
I was waiting for my freedom to singer my dreams But all is a lie I understand the message
Three years in prison for a crime that I did not commit
How not to feel Sentenced for life? aging empty
22 years, a youth buried
How not to fall apart when one is hit below the belt?
Mom, I did my best, I took over the studies. I wanted to get you out of this slum
But it's harder than expected,
I did not see all these traps
I assure you they're after me, My soul is in distress
They broadcast my beatings in a loop Do they don't know it's stressing me?
Accused of stealing a backpack A cell without trial as a welcome gift
Flashes of guards striking animals without leaders leaving me crumbling
Mom all these years I made you live my curses
A convicted man can not hope for any blessing
Please forgive me, but i have to break with this schema
It was written that I had to finish hanging myself in front of my home window
Hush, speak less loudly They are listening to us throughout the door
Hush, speak less loudly Mom they are surrounding me and I'm losing myself
Hush, you, that is speaking in my head I'm scrutinized everywhere I talk aloud
You do not know what I live, you do not know what's happening to me
This island broke my youth and my dreams
Kalief Browder : put a name on a statistic
Hush, speak less loudly They are listening to us throughout the door
Hush, speak less loudly Mom they are surrounding me and I'm losing myself
Hush, you, that is speaking in my head I'm scrutinized everywhere I talk aloud
You do not know what I live, you do not know what's happening to me

South Korean reporters join their international counterparts in the North and head off to ... - Duration: 2:52.
After days of uncertainty....
Pyongyang finally accepted the list of South Korean reporters who were initially invited
to witness the North's dismantling of its key nuclear test site.
The journalists, along with their international counterparts,... have finally taken off to
Punggye-ri. Lee Ji-won has our top story.
Reporters from five countries, the U.S., China, Russia, the UK AND South Korea left Wonsan
at around 7 p.m., Korea time to head for the Punggye-ri nuclear test site.
This comes after eight South Korean reporters whose North Korean visas had not been confirmed
due to friction between Seoul and Pyongyang... finally got the greenlight from the North
Wednesday morning and arrived in North Korea's east coast city of Wonsan at around 3 p.m.
The reporters departed from the Seoul Air Base in Seongnam at around half past noon,
on a government aircraft, flying over the East Sea straight to Wonsan.
While the international reporters had already arrived at the city Tuesday, and were supposed
to get on a train to Punggye-ri that night,... the plan had been postponed until Wednesday
morning, supposedly due to "bad weather" according to Sky News correspondent Tom Cheshire, a
British reporter on the trip.
But the journey to the Punggye-ri nuclear test site, some 500 kilometers away, is expected
to be a tough one as well.
The reporters are to travel some 420 kilometers by train from Wonsan to Jaedok station, near
the entrance to the massive test site.
And with the railway's poor condition, the train is expected to run at a speed of only
35 kilometers per hour, which means it will take 12 hours or more.
And from the station, the reporters will get on a bus for another 4 hours,... followed
by a 2-hour hike to the site.
They're expected to arrive at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site at around noon on Thursday.
But, according to what the North has said before, the dismantling of the test site will
only happen if the weather permits, otherwise, it could have to wait until Friday.
The reporters will not have their phones or access to the internet while they're at the
site or en route,... so reports and footage of the dismantlement won't be sent out until
they get back to Wonsan,... where a press center has been set up for the reporters to
work in.
Meanwhile, it seems like preparations for the event are all ready over at the site.
U.S.-based North Korea monitoring website, 38 North says two probable viewing areas for
the reporters near the Portals have been identified on satellite images.
Moreover, small white shelters have been built near the South, North and West Portals, which
look like storage for chemical explosives for the upcoming demolition of the portals.

Preventing Alzheimer's disease correctly - TODAY | Talking with Dr. Neal Barnard (VegMed 2018) - Duration: 18:38.
Alzheimer's disease
shall be reversable?
Yes, if it's in a very very early stage!
But what if you got bad genes?
But even if they had the gene.
Cut their risk, by about 80%!
There's a lot you can do! And you don't wanna not do it!
Hi, I'm Thomas. Welcome to The Habit Rabbit!
Your channel for vegan life!
Great, that you are back for watching!
Today we got a special guest for you: Dr. Neal Barnard.
Dr. Neal Barnard attended VegMed congress.
There we hat the chance to talk with him about Alzheimer's Disease.
What does it mean to have Alzheimers? What causes the disease?
And: Can you protect yourself completly, even if you have bad genes?
All that and even more, now in the upcoming interview.
Hello Neal Barnard. It's a real pleasure to have you here!
Could you please explain your background a little bit.
You're one of the lead scientists in medical nutrition. How long are you in the subject?
Yeah. I started changing my own diet back in the 1970s,
and I got into research in the 1990s.
And we've been doing more and more studies, where we have been looking
especially at plant-based diets, vegan diets,
for people with diabetes, weight problems, chronic pain.
And it has really been amazing.
Instead of nutrition being sort of a weak force, that can be used or not.
It turns out to be perhaps the strongest thing, that we have in medicine today.
And you mentioned diabetes and other chronic diseases,
and you also have talks on the internet that we can relink
about Alzheimer's disease. Yes!
Can you explain: What is going on when you get Alzheimer's disease?
Alzheimer's disease is a condition where the brain is being gradually destroyed.
We see between the brain cells, what are called beta amyloid plaques.
Between the cells. And inside the cells there are unusual structures as well,
and the brain itself is starting to die, it's shrinking.
You're losing brain cells.
So this means that it starts with memory problems.
Where you can't remember a name or a word
and eventually your personality changes, your ability to solve problems changes.
Everything changes! You lose everything!
We used to think, it was all due to old age, or old age and genetics.
So that if you had it in your family you would get it, when you get old.
But we now know, that it's sort of like smoking.
Where older people get lung cancer, not because they're old,
but because they've been smoking for such a long period of time.
So if a person eats an unhealthy diet
then as they get older, the damage of that diet
is seen not just in the heart but also seen in the brain.
Because I was asking: A friend of mine,
his father has Alzheimer's disease and his grandfather had Alzheimer's disease
and he's saying like: "I can do nothing and I just eat whatever I think of."
So it's not only the genes but also, you mentioned the nutrition.
How much do the genes influence that you get it?
Genes do matter! There's a particular gene.
That's fairly common and if you got it from one parent, your risk of Alzheimer's is three times higher,
if you got it from both parents, your risk is ten times, maybe even 15 times higher.
However. It turns out that, even if you have those genes,
if you make diet changes. It appears that, that will reduce the risk.
And specifically there is something called saturated fat.
It's the solid fat, that's in cheese it's, in milk and butter.
and there's also some in meat.
and researchers in North America in Chicago Illinois
looked at a large group of people and those people, who avoided
the saturated fat more or less, they ate less,
had about two-thirds less risk of getting Alzheimer's,
compared to people who ate more.
And then they looked at other things like trans fats, which are in some snack foods.
The same issue! And then certain metals,
like too much iron and too much copper.
All of these things relate the diet to the health of the brain and they are within our control.
So yes you want to have healthy genes, but even if you're not born with healthy genes,
you can affect your risk in a very good way!
Is there a number how many people who have, like from both parents the genes,
how many of them, if they join a healthy nutrition, can avoid Alzheimers?
Are there studies on it? We need more research,
but one of the ones that I found most striking was a Scandinavian study. Was done in Finland.
And they looked at individuals who were 50 years old, everybody's totally healthy.
No memory problems. But some of them had this gene.
It´s called the Apo E epsilon 4 allele, the name's not important.
But even if they had the gene, when they follow them over the next several decades,
those people who tended to avoid the bad fats,
cut their risk of getting memory problems by about eighty percent!
So it's not a hundred percent, but it was good! It was really good!
And and there's more things you can do, there are many many different things you can do!
I I've just scratched the surface and I wrote a whole book on this,
because I was very excited about it!
Because for me, both as a person who doesn't want to get Alzheimer's
but as a doctor, you want to be able to have information to help people.
Didn't your father also had Alzheimer's disease?
Yes he did, yes he had a very bad course of it and all my grandparents had various memory problems,
and so one is tempted to think: Well there's nothing I can do.
There's a lot you can do and you don't want to not do it!
You don't wanna just say forget about.
Yeah, I can do anything about it and it's just life and genetics.
Because what are you accepting?
Then you're accepting spending the last decade of your life sitting in a rocking chair
dribbling and drooling and not knowing your children anymore.
I mean who wants that? We have to make these changes!
And all the side effects are good ones. It helps us keep our weight down,
It helps us keep chronic pain conditions like arthritis down. As well, there's every reason to do it.
You mentioned those beta amyloid plaques between the cells and there is a
acid called DHA. What role does this acid play?
How do we get this DHA acid actually?
Yeah, well DHA is, it's a fatty acid, it's a fat.
And your body uses it and it's a good thing.
But the natural source of it is actually plants.
So if you ate some green leafy vegetables,
you wouldn't think there's a lot of fat in it and there's not a lot, there's a little bit.
Maybe 8 or 9 percent of it's calories come from fat.
And your body will take that fat and will make DHA out of it.
And the brain can use it.
Now some people will say well I'm gonna have the fat in fish.
And there's fat in fish and some of it is DHA.
But along with it you get mercury and parasites and other things that you don't want.
Also bad for the brain.
Yeah and cholesterol and other things that are harmful.
And the rate, you mentioned that the body can transform the fats, that are in the plants to DHA.
It's a small rate like 1 to 5 percent depending on men or women.
Is it really enough, to build up enough DHA?
I think it is but we're not a hundred percent sure.
There are enzymes that make do this conversion.
What they're doing is they're taking a shorter fatty acid molecule, it's 18 carbons long.
And the enzymes turned it into one that's 20 carbons and then 22 carbons, and the enzymes do that.
And you're right that the enzymes work rather slowly.
But what slows them down is getting too much unnecessary fat.
That attaches to the enzymes and preoccupies them.
So what you want to do is to have your green leafy vegetables and lots of the healthy omega threes,
and not a lot of competing fats, like french fries and chips and grease all over everything.
Because that confuses the enzymes. It preoccupies them.
They have to deal with that, instead of trying to deal with the healthy omega-3.
Okay so that the DHA cannot be built, because of the other ones.
The other ones will soak up the enzymes.
You know having said that, if a person wants to take DHA supplements, there are DHA supplements at every health food store.
Some of them are from fish. Some of them are vegan and you can take them if you want.
Okay, so they are no bad effects from DHA oils?
Yeah, there might be. If you take a lot of DHA sometimes people don't,
they have trouble stopping bleeding. You cut yourself, and you noticed instead of stopping,
it keeps bleeding and bleeding and bleeding.
Some people think that's why fish oils might be protecting the heart,
because, if you can't clot, if your blood clamp can't clot, you can't have a heart attack.
But sometimes you want to be able to stop bleeding.
And would you also recommend to take DHA for children and younger people or like babies?
Because it's very important to build up the nervous system and everything in the brain.
I don't think we know enough to suggest that.
If a person wants to do that, I don't know that it would be harmful.
But I don't think we have enough evidence yet to say that the DHA should be supplemented for anyone.
We do know, that you do need this fat called alpha linolenic acid: ALA.
That's the 18 carbon, one that produces the DHA and that's in plant foods. That's in vegetables.
That's where you find it. And there's a lot of it in certain things,
like walnuts and chia seeds and things like that.
I'm not sure if you need those things (supplements).
Before you mentioned the other things you can do to prevent Alzheimers,
can you just mention like two or three of them?
Okay, starting with food: You want to avoid saturated fat.
That is in dairy products and meat. That's where that is.
You want to avoid the trans fats.
They're also called partially hydrogenated oils.
And they're in some snack foods and some people use them in their fryers to fry other foods.
Vitamin E rich foods are protective.
Foods that are rich in vitamin E are nuts and seeds. Almonds for example: lots of vitamin E.
And in the Chicago study, that I mentioned earlier,
people with the most vitamin E rich foods, had half the risk of Alzheimer's compared to other people.
Don't take in vitamin E as a supplement! Get it in food!
Because there are eight different types in food. You need them all!
In a supplement you might just get one or two.
And if you overdo it on one of them, it inhibits your absorption of the others.
So you want to get it from food not pills.
Exercise helps! Lacing up your sneakers and going out for a run.
The more you get blood into the brain, the more you can prevent this and even reverse some brain shrinkage.
And lastly there are certain metals that are problems.
Aluminum is apparently a problem, it's a brain toxin.
Also like in cans?
Yes aluminum is in cans. It's in pots and pans, sometimes.
You know if the food touches the aluminum, some of the aluminum gets into the food.
It's in some drinking water supplies.
So you can check with your local environmental control agency, and see if it's in yours.
Or if you're not sure, you can get bottled water delivered to your home and use that instead.
But also iron and copper are a problem. You need a little bit of iron for red blood cells,
and you need a little bit of copper for certain metabolic reactions.
But if you have too much, they can get into the brain and be toxic.
Also the iron from the plant foods?
The iron in plants is much much better!
The reason is that it's in a form called non-heme iron.
And so what that means is, if you have plenty of iron in your blood,
your body can take the non-heme iron and keep it out.
If you're low in iron in your blood, the body can take the non-heme iron in.
So your body can regulate it.
If it's meat, meat has something called heme iron.
And the heme iron comes into your body, whether you want it or not, and people can get iron overloaded.
So that we think is a problem and same with copper.
So meat eaters tend to be iron overloaded in many cases.
And so we think that a plant-based diet is good for them as well.
But I would avoid cooking with iron, unless the pan is coated.
So the iron doesn't touch the food.
I wouldn't cook with copper, unless the pan is coated,
so the copper doesn't touch the food, and same with aluminum.
And if we can prevent Alzheimers, for diabetes we know, that we can also reverse the disease.
Is it also possible to reverse Alzheimer's?
Great question! I think yes, if it's in a very very early stage.
Researchers have looked at individuals who have a condition we call mild cognitive impairment.
Where your memory is starting to get bad.
But you're still yourself. You might be driving and so forth.
In that case people have tried a number of things:
Exercise, about a 40 minute brisk walk, three times a week, makes those symptoms go away.
And even helps the parts of the brain, the hippocampus, is the memory center, if I can call it that.
It actually enlarges when people exercise.
And there have been some small studies on certain foods like blueberries and grapes.
And these foods are picked, because they're high in anthocyanins, which are our antioxidants.
They seem to work too.
I'm a little skeptical of these studies, because you're picking out one specific food.
But so far they're encouraging, so there may be something to it.
Wow that's really good news! If you know that you start getting it,
or if you get the diagnosis that you can do something against it.
Yes, now having said that. If Alzheimers goes too far, the brain is being destroyed!
And I don't think you're gonna reverse it no matter what you do.
But catch it in it's early phase or better still change your diet when you're young!
The time to prevent Alzheimers is in childhood.
Let's raise our children, without cheese, without meat,
with plenty of vegetables and fruits and beans and whole grains.
They should supplement vitamin B12. That's the one you need.
If you're not getting sunlight, you need vitamin D.
But if you do those things, you've got a healthy diet, that's very nutritious,
that doesn't have the poisons in it.
If a person grows up, as I did: Lots of meat and lots of cheese.
And we think, well you're gonna get a heart attack when you're 50,
you're gonna have Alzheimer's when you're 75 and that's just part of life.
Let's change this scenario!
We're not gonna live forever, but I want to live well, as long as I'm alive.
Where can the viewers learn more about your work? You published several books.
Do you have anything, that you can mention?
Yes thank you! Our website is PCRM.org
That stands for Physicians Committee for Responsible medicine.
And if you look on YouTube you'll see about 10,000 videos,
that we've made and I hope you find them helpful!
Okay, thank you very much for your time! We appreciate it very much!
And thank you very much also for your talk in the morning, it was really eye-opening and touchfull!
Thank you very much!
Well, I want to thank you too!
Because on any given day a doctor might reach 20 people,
and you hope that you've inspired some of them.
But any given day, you reach more people than that!
And you never know, how many of them are gonna get inspired by something you have done,
and asked other people to look at it, and share that work around.
So you're a life saver and I thank you for working with me on this team!
Thank you very much!
Wow! Alzheimers, that has such a strong genetic component,
shall be prevented with a whole-food plant based diet?
I could believe it on my own, when I heard of it the first time!
But the evidence of the researchers is so compelling,
that it can´t be ignored anymore.
And that is so great! Alzheimers disease is no inevitable destiny anymore!
Thanks again to Dr. Neal Barnard, that he he took the time for us!
We wish him all the best!
And thanks also to the VegMed team, for the great congress in Berlin!
You noticed probably that I was pretty nervous during the interview.
So please excuse my slightly bumpy English!
Neal Barnard, said it in the interview. There are plenty of talks of him here on Youtube.
