In the "Grundrisse",
Marx asks what's the end point going to be of automation.
For the capitalists, he says, the ideal machine is one that lasts forever,
or costs zero to produce.
To achieve that you're going to need huge advances in machinery,
organization and knowledge.
Marx says knowledge will be socialised into what he calls: a general intellect.
Marx' theory of history goes like this:
At each stage, the economic structure of society has to match ...
the technology and the work routines needed to operate the technology.
This combination of technology plus economic structure form a foundation,
on which ideas, religions, laws and cultures are built.
A legal and political superstructure.
At some point, the technology outgrows the economic structure,
and then begins an era of social revolution.
In the past 20 years, IT has changed almost everything about our world.
The question, as Marx posed it, remains.
If information is everywhere, and shared, and abundant,
why should a few people own it? Why do we have information monopolies at all?
That's the question posed by Facebook's current crisis,
after the data of millions of people was misused to try and rig elections.
Marx couldn't predict the internet,
but he did predict what would happen if information became generally shared.
It would blow the foundations of capitalism sky high.
So you could say that Facebook's crisis is a nice 200th birthday present for Marx.

Trump dismisses 'Libya model' for North Korea's denuclearization - Duration: 2:16.
With the prospect of the summit between North Korea and the U.S. under a cloud,....
President Donald Trump veered away from the idea of applying the "Libyan model" in denuclearizing
North Korea... contradicting recent comments made by his national security adviser John
Bolton.
Trump even said that the U.S. is not considering a regime change... and that Kim Jong-un would
continue to run his country if he gave up his nuclear weapons.
Our Lee Seung-jae with this report.
U.S. President Donald Trump has ruled out the so-called 'Libya model' for dismantling
North Korea's nuclear weapons program,... instead offering strong security guarantees
to Pyongyang in return for its denuclearization.
He pledged that the U.S. would grant the North such a guarantee if a satisfactory deal is
struck.
"But the model, if you look at that model with Gaddafi, that was a total decimation.
We went in there to beat him.
Now that model would take place if we don't make a deal, most likely.
But if we make a deal, I think Kim Jong Un is going to be very, very happy."
The Libyan model, which has been pushed on U.S. news networks by President Trump's National
Security Adviser, John Bolton,... calls for a quick dismantlement of North Korea's nuclear
program with no guarantee of benefits to the regime in the process.
Pushing back against Bolton's remarks,... Trump insisted protection for Kim and his
regime would be very strong if the regime fully denuclearizes.
"We're willing to do a lot.
And he's willing to, I think, do a lot also.
And I think we'll actually have a good relationship, assuming we have the meeting and assuming
something comes of it.
And he'll get protections that will be very strong."
With all signs pointing to Bolton's mentioning of the 'Libya model' being the reason behind
North Korea's recent 180-degree turn,... the White House has been stressing that's not
the model they are incorporating,... saying instead a "President Trump model" will be
used.
Will Trump's security guarantee be enough to ensure North Korea falls back in line?
With the North Korea-U.S. summit set for June 12th in Singapore,... the U.S. and South Korea
certainly hope it will be.

Trump blames 'spoiled China' for sluggish progress of trade talks - Duration: 2:32.
The U.S. once again turning up the heat on China over trade.
Amid a second round of trade talks with China in Washington,... Trump said... he had his
doubts on whether they'd be successful... since he believes China has become "spoilt"
after years of having it easy with U.S. trade negotiators.
Choi Si-young tells us more.
"But with all the years and all the years that you've covered trade and nations and
wars and everything else, you've never seen a people come over from China to work on a
trade deal.
Now, will that be successful?
I tend to doubt it.
The reason I doubt it is because China has become very spoiled."
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Thursday, President Trump expressed his doubts
about reaching an agreement with China over trade, as the world's two largest economies
sat down for crunch negotiations to avert a potential trade war.
Trump's remarks come as the two sides are holding round two of their high-stakes talks
on trade.
The first round held in Beijing earlier this month yielded little in the way of progress.
Back on home ground, the U.S. delegation made up of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Commerce
Secretary Wilbur Ross and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer held talks with their Chinese
counterparts led by China's Vice Premier Liu He in a bid to narrow their differences.
The New York Times reports that China is preparing to offer the U.S. a deal to buy 200 billion
dollars' worth of American goods.
Under the deal, China would buy a range of American goods, including everything from
soybeans to semiconductors and natural gas.
The Chinese vice premier, also the top economic adviser to Chinese President Xi Jinping, is
expected to present the deal to the U.S. on Friday.
Experts, however, remain skeptical over how effective such a deal would be in narrowing
China's sizable trade surplus with the U.S.
They argue that, even if China sharply increases its purchases of American goods in the short
term, it probably wouldn't come close to the proposed 200 billion dollars.
Plus, the U.S. is already running at its full productive capacity, so it would be unrealistic
for the U.S. to meet greater demands from China.
President Trump's top economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, says Washington's stance on trade
with China remains the same.
He says the U.S. will continue to pressure Beijing to open its market to U.S. companies,
by removing trade barriers and respecting intellectual property rights.
With the U.S. eager to grab the upper-hand in the remaining negotiations, it remains
to be seen whether the two world's largest economies can arrive at a compromise, avoiding
a devastating trade clash.

Remembering May 18th Democratic Movement - Duration: 1:57.
And in light of today's solemn anniversary in remembering many innocent civilians that
were killed by government troops.... we go back in time with our Ko Roon-hee who takes
a look back at the day of the uprising.
Thousands of people took to the streets on May 18th, 1980 in the southwestern Korean
city of Gwangju.
This was after then-president Chun Doo-hwan seized power in a military coup and took suppressive
measures... such as banning political activities and imposing martial law.
Protesters were beaten and fired upon by government troops during the military crackdown.
This left an unknown number of people dead and thousands more wounded.
Although the uprising was quelled on May 27th, 1980, a look back in history has proven that
it was a victory, not a defeat… as it paved the way for later movements in the 1980s that
eventually brought democracy to the country.
Last year, South Korean President Moon Jae-in vowed to carry on its legacy…by reopening
the probe into possible crimes that may have been committed by the troops.
"Demanding the truth of the May 18 Democratic Movement is not a political issue.
It is about common sense and justice.
It is also about protecting the value of democracy in South Korea."
Recently, a rare video capturing the scenes of the democratic movement was disclosed to
the public.
A private collector notified the May 18 Archives of the video's existence in December last
year, and the archives purchased it in March.
The new video shows soldiers implementing martial law and wounded citizens at local
hospitals.
The footage will be screened at the archive until May 30th... to remind citizens of a
pivotal moment in the country's modern history, that continues to provide inspiration for
freedom and human rights.

these jaja mein are apparently not spicy and jya jya meong are apparently not supposed to be spicy
jia jia myeong are made with korean miso
it would make me so happy if buldakk would come out with something not so spicy as well
these noodles are very yummy on their own as well, for an instant noodle

the sauce is an astonishing red color
this is what the toppings look like there is quite a lot of stuff in here, you don't really need to add any extra
buldakk gives you quite a lot of stuff in their packets
since everything won't fit into a single pan I'll make 5 at a time here
and I've got another pot over there
I dun goofed there are actually only 4 per pack
you can't just go and assume things all the time
ok this is what it looks like and I'll add the toppings we made earlier
looks so yummy as it is
it might be a good idea to keep some of the soup to the side to help you mix everything together
and this is the sauce
looks a bit spicy though.... its quite red on the sides here and stuff....
but its a bit darker than the others I've seen jajya miang is a dark colored sauce
then mix

and to help me out if its spicy I have this soy milk on the ready here
but before I really commit to a drink I'll take a bite of this first itadakimasu
these are usually so spicy you can smell it right away
it doesn't really smell spicy so... maybe its not hot and spicy
look at all this yummy looking jiar jiar myiang sauce

and so ..... oh its spicy after all
its a spiciness that hits you afterwards
but then again.... its a bit spicy but.... which drink do I go with now?
lets go with the soy milk I think I need it to tame the spiciness so I can enjoy this
its rather spicy but.... and it definitely belongs alongside all the other spicy
types of foods out there its not a hellish spice like other buldakk noodles
I think I might be alright with this kind of spice and as I'm talking here all this saliva is gushing out
its just that spicy
that's what we all like about buldakk noodles
all the jyajia mein I've had up until now have not been spicy at all
this doesn't taste exactly like a jajameng but rather a spicy version of jiajyamyang
its buldakk's take on jajamyeung
but it does retainthe tasty flavors from jyajyamiang its super yummy
super delish
but then again for people who don't like spicy foods.... well then again they won't be eating this would they
if you feel its a bit too spicy I recommend adding plenty of eggs to it
and if you ain't got the time to make fried eggs you can get away with adding raw eggs to it instead
super delish
its so nice with all the extra ingredients in it I added 2 chicken thighs to this
I think all of buldakk's noodles are like this but these are thick and curly noodles
sauce really clings to it and makes it so yummy
spicy but still very yummy
this has gotta be my fave out of all of buldakk's noodles
buldakk's noodles can get spicy AF
if this was an RPG this would be one of the first few enemies you encounter
milk and soy milk are so nice it really helps ease away the heat from the spices
the buldakk's I've had up until now were so spicy that milk or soy milk just didn't help one bit
sauce sticks to it so nicely don't they look so yummy?

its one of those things that you can only go to with close friends and stuff

and y'all prolly heard that if a couple is out together eating yakiniku you know they've been dating for a while
and I think jiya jiya mein are the same as well since your lips get so black
its one of those dishes that take a bit of bravery to eat in front of someone you like and before you start dating
the noodles are so thick that they don't get soggy at all they keep nice and chewy

gochisosamadeshita the buldakk jiar jyiar meun was so yummy
it was so spicy but quite doable if it was a tad bit spicier it would be too much
but then again I've eaten the other ones as well this was just right in terms of spice
it wasn't too spicy I believe
jianjian muong are so yummy aren't they the flavors change when you add more or less spice to it
eggs go so nicely with this though

S. Korean gov't commemorates 38th anniversary of May 18th Democracy Movement in Gwangju - Duration: 3:16.
Today marks the 38th anniversary of the May 18th democratic movement,... which took place
in the southern city of Gwangju,... in 1980.
Our correspondent Park Ji-won has this report about today's ceremony in Gwangju.
The government-organized ceremony for the 38th anniversary of the May 18th Democratic
Movement was held Friday morning,... at the May 18th National Cemetery,... in Gwangju.
Some five thousand participants,.. including bereaved family members of the victims,...
citizens, students, and politicians,... attended the event.
In his speech,...
Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon vowed that the government will work hard to find the truth
about what happened,... much of which,... such as who first gave the order to open fire
on civilians,... is still not known.
"I believe when the special truth committee on the democratic movement,... formed according
to a special act on May 18th enacted during the Moon administration,... is launched in
September,... the committee will clearly reveal all the truth, without any restrictions or
any doubts."
The Prime Minister also called the democratic movement the 'victory of justice',... saying
that Korea will always remember the sacrifices of Gwangju that contributed to the nation's
democracy.
Although never confirmed,... it is widely thought that there are some five thousand
victims of the massacre,.. including over 160 deaths,... hundreds of others missing,...
and thousands injured.
Victims and bereaved family members still haven't gotten over the grief.
"I witnessed the scene, even though I was young.
I saw dead bodies, crying family members, so every year, the scene comes up as a trauma."
"My friends were shot many times, bleeding to death.
I feel ashamed in front of all those martyrs."
Foreign participants also say South Korea's pro-democracy movement has become an inspiration
to their countries too.
"The spirit of Gwangju is from the minimum to the ultimate.
That is, for example, housewives, they made food, but also fight.
Daughters who made sacrifices in many, many ways, like giving blood, but the ultimatum
is giving lives.
This is great, this is something we need to learn."
What is also notable is that wives of a late foreign journalist, and pastors,... who recorded
the massacre 38 years ago,... either with video cameras or through photographs,... to
let the rest of the world to know the truth about what happened in Gwangju,... were also
present at the ceremony,... remembering all those who fought for a just and democratic
society.
"The actions of the brave Gwangju citizens who stood up against the injustices of the
military dictatorship,... even sacrificing their lives for the cause,... eventually led
to the end of the military regimes,... and the start of true democracy in Korea.
