This is AI:UX, a mini-series focus on 10 guidelines that

were created to assist all those that are involved in the design

and development of AI-based systems.

I'm Daria Loi, an Intel researcher,

and today I talk about guideline number

six, design systems that have consistent behaviors, yet

designed for serendipity.

In my research, people expressed a fascinating duality.

On one hand, they asked for consistency and reliability

in their AI-based systems.

But on the other, they didn't want to feel predictable,

and asked for technology that could enrich their lives,

while also surprising them.

One of the research participants shared with me

that they don't like the idea of an AI system

changing how it acts, based on their behaviors.

They said, I need predictability.

But added, I want it to have consistent behaviors.

Imagine the consequences if a system

enabled you to achieve a specific goal by engaging

in the same two steps daily.

But suddenly, it requested steps or provided

outcomes completely different from what

you got used to over time.

It would be confusing and frustrating,

and you would feel like you were no longer in charge.

Routine matters.

And a break in routine is aggravating,

as users interpret sudden behavior changes

as a lack of consistency.

On the flip side, another one of my participants

shared their interest in an AI-based system

they could listen and adjust things accordingly.

When they want to make random decision or a quick adjustment,

they expect the system to adjust and be

able to enrich their lives, by surprising them

with the unexpected.

As long as it is within their comfort zones, priorities,

and established rules.

Many participants share these sentiments,

and this illustrates a duality between wanting

AI systems to predict their behaviors, while also

being serendipitous.

Remember, that human behavior cannot always be predicted.

With this duality in mind, it is important to balance

these contrasting perspectives in your user experience design.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S.

Justice Department on Monday agreed to expand its investigation into alleged Russia collusion in the 2016 election to include any irregularities in FBI tactics involving Trumps presidential campaign, a White House spokeswoman said.

Trump suggested on Friday that the FBI might have planted or recruited an informant in his presidential campaign for political purposes, citing unidentified reports that at least one FBI representative was implanted. he agreement came during a meeting that Trump had with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher Wray, the spokeswoman, Sarah Sanders, said.

The Justice Department has asked the inspector general to expand its current investigation to include any irregularities with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's or the Department of Justice's tactics concerning the Trump Campaign, Sanders said in a statement.

Federal investigators are probing whether anyone in the Trump campaign worked with Russia to sway the election to the Republican candidate.

Trump has denied any collusion and repeatedly dismissed the investigation as a witch hunt. Trump said in a Twitter post on Sunday that he would demand the Justice Department look into whether the FBI infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes - and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration! Hours later, a spokeswoman said the department asked its inspector general to expand a review of the process for requesting surveillance warrants to include determining whether there was impropriety or political motivation in how the FBI conducted its investigation.The FBI was looking into Trump election campaign ties to Moscow before Special Counsel Robert Mueller took over the probe a year ago.

If anyone did infiltrate or surveil participants in a presidential campaign for inappropriate purposes, we need to know about it and take appropriate action, Rosenstein said in a statement on Sunday evening.

Democrats said Mueller and his investigation should be protected and information, such as about any informant, should not be shared with Congress.

Justice Department regulations protect this type of information from disclosure to Congress for legitimate investigative and privacy reasons," Senator Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said in a letter to Rosenstein on Monday.

Trump has shown increasing signs of impatience with the investigation led by Mueller as it enters its second year, saying it was politically motivated and had its roots in the administration of Democratic President Barack Obama.

His Republican allies in Congress, led by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, have pushed the same message.

In March, the Justice Departments inspector general launched a review into allegations by Republican lawmakers that the FBI made serious missteps when it sought a warrant to monitor a former adviser to Trump's 2016 election campaign.

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz said his review will examine whether the FBI and Justice Department followed proper procedures when they applied for a warrant with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to secretly conduct surveillance on former adviser Carter Page and his ties to Russia.

Republican U.S.

Representative Lee Zeldin said he and 16 other members of Congress will introduce a resolution on Tuesday alleging Justice Department and FBI misconduct involving surveillance in the Trump-Russia probe.

Neither Trump nor his new lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, provided any evidence of government infiltration into Trump's presidential campaign.

The New York Times, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that the FBI sent an informant to talk to two Trump campaign advisers, Page and George Papadopoulos, after the agency received evidence that the two men had suspicious contacts linked to Russia during the campaign.

Papadopoulos pleaded guilty last fall to lying to FBI agents about his contacts with Russia.

New details reveal how police ended deadly firefight with Texas school shooter

Heroes inside Santa Fe High School last week cornered the mass shooter within four minutes, keeping him contained until additional officers arrived to evacuate teachers and students, the Galveston County Sheriff said.

Four minutes is about the only timeline that we need to key in on, Sheriff Henry Trochesset said Monday evening, offering new details on how police managed to stop the gunman in Friday's deadly school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas.

The heroes from that [Independent School District] engaged this individual in approximately four minutes and stayed engaged with him, keeping him contained and engaged, Trochesset said, so the other heroes -- that continued to arrive -- could evacuate the teachers administrators in the students from this school.

Speaking at a press conference, Trochesset revealed that his children and grandchildren are students at Santa Fe High School and his wife attended the school.

My granddaughter was three doors down from where this occurred in that school, Trochesset said.

Her best friend that spent the night at my house, swam in my pool, is dead..

This tragedy in this community touches home more than youd imagine, he added.

By the end, about 200 law enforcement officers descended on the scene to help school district officers apprehend the suspect, Trochesset said, adding that the entire ordeal lasted about 25 minutes.

Trochesset also said he doesnt believe that any students were killed in law enforcements crossfire, but they would need to wait on autopsy reports to confirm.

From what I've seen, I don't believe any of the individuals that were killed were from the law enforcement, he said.

Alleged gunman Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17, was arrested Friday morning after he opened fire on two art classrooms at the school, killing 10 and wounding 13 others.

Hes currently being held at the Galveston County Jail where hes under suicide watch, Trochesset said.

Pagourtzis, whos been charged with capital murder, allegedly was armed with a shotgun and a.

38-caliber revolver, both of which were legally owned by his father.

Pagourtzis attorney, Nick Poehl, told ABC News on Monday that other students told him that his client had been bullied by students and adults at Santa Fe High School.

Its something that were looking into, Poehl said.

This weekend Santa Fe ISD released a statement saying they had investigated the claims of bullying and found them to be not true..

That was released less than 24 hours after the incident occurred, Poehl added.

Its not clear what the nature of that investigation was except that it is clear that they didnt reach out to any of the kids that were on TV claiming that it occurred, so we have some questions about that investigation. The suspects father, Antonios Pagourtzis, referred to his son as a good boy who was bullied at school in an interview on Monday.

He never got into a fight with anyone.

I don't know what happened, the elder Pagourtzis told the Wall Street Journal in a phone interview on Monday.

Doyle just went on CNN to say that "the incident was brought to my attention" and

she thoroughly looked into the matter.

She came to the conclusion that this was a clear case of sexual harassment here and she

recommended that Clinton fire him, but she was "overruled."

"She overruled you personally?"

CNN's Brianna Keiler asked.

"I was overruled, yes," Doyle said.

Clinton had reacted to this case with the following tweets: Keilar read these tweets

and said, "She doesn't admit she messed up…

Why doesn't she just look back and say 'this was the wrong call'?"

"I don't know," Solis Doyle conceded.

"I was disappointed by that tweet, that response.

It was the wrong call.

I wish she had said it was the wrong call."

to clean your Keurig I have the model SS- 10 by Cuisinart but this goes to any

Keurig model you should have this thing forever I've had my since 2010 I thought

it was broken you know the first time I was devastated I emailed them and they

send me back some instructions so I'm here to share the wealth so that

you can have your Keurig forever ok so what you need to clean your Keurig

descale is another word you need a paperclip

you need a wet cloth I just use paper towel because I'm super fancy and you

need vinegar and water so if your Keurig is broken the first broken the first

thing you want to do is unplug it just unplug it if you hear it grinding away

or it's not doing anything no coffees coming out

unplug the bad Larry unplug it leave it there for about a minute

and then plug it back in and see if it's working this literally happened to me

this morning and I wish I could show you but I'm a rookie and I filmed it

landscape instead of horizontal so I can't show you because it'll flip my

whole youtube video anyways first step unplug it leave it for a minute or two

and then plug it back in and try it again if it's still not working

take a cup and just start running it with all the k-cup in it run it a couple

times with just the hot water see if it works so that's step two if it's still

not working unplug the thing again for another

minute just to clear the heebie-jeebies out plug it back in

no K-cup inserted at all what you want to do is you want to take this this

thing the k-cup out so I'll show it to you closer up so this is the third step

if it's still not working you want to take this this little the K cup holder

out so I don't think I can do this while I'm showing you but you're gonna push

this bottom up it's kind of just inserted and

and then take it out I'm gonna push this for the back so you can maybe see me

it's not hard just requires a so I got one prong up let the other prong out

okay now it's up so the K cup holder is out

I would rinse this thing first then you want to take your paper clip and you

want to kind of just stick it in these little holes clean it out make sure no

coffee is is in there and then you want to take the paperclip

and you want to just make sure like nothing's here don't don't be poking it

around anyway but you do want to insert it into the sharp hole that that

punctures each K Cup shove it into this these little holes up here don't go

crazy don't go breaking anything but just clean

it out and make sure there's no coffee in there so here let me bring you closer

I can show you what I'm talking about I think see right up here there's this

little metal thing if you just kind of want to shove the paperclip in there and

just make sure that there's no coffee remnants floating around so try that run

it through you know insert this back in has little arrows align the holder make

sure again you don't break it hear that click back in okay run it a couple times

get the get all the grinds out of the air take this paper towel make sure you

clean all this area out cuz look at mine it's filthy I'm the clean I want to have

two when it's not working anymore so play it all the grinds out and then run

it with hot water you don't need to run over the cake I've just running with hot

water to make sure it's all brewing properly not grinding alone okay so step

one was unplug the thing plug it back in a minute later step two was to just try

to run it through with some hot water if that still doesn't work

step three was to take out the K cup holder clean out everything in there

stick the paperclip in this little silver prod be careful it's sharp so and

then try and test it again with hot water if it is still not working you

need to descale the machine easy don't let it don't let it overwhelm you what

you want to do is you want to fill this chamber with half vinegar just wait

distilled vinegar I buy mine at Costco for cheap cheap they sell it at Walmart

the market wherever you want filled with half vinegar white vinegar

and half water and then just keep brewing and brewing and brewing so you

literally gonna fill it with half water no K- cup inserted you stick a cup here

and just keep hitting you know 12 put it on the highest one that you have large

cup 12 and just keep brewing hot water until all this runs dry then what you're

going to want to do is fill it with water again just plain water run it

through till everything is gone because now you have vinegar in there so you

don't want to taste vinegar coffee it tastes disgusting

believe me so run it again run this all the way through its takes a little bit

of time but it's not a big deal it's easy peasy and like me you I've had this

since 2010 you will love your Keurig for years to come and not have to spend

the investment so you've run it through and then you should be good to go if

you're not try it again clean everything out make sure everything is good unplug

it plug it back in descale it another thing that you want to do after you do

scale it is you want to buy these filters and I buy them on Amazon I'll

leave the Keurig Cuisinart one that I have because I love this thing as a

72-ounce chamber see my other Cuisinart Keurig video about all the reasons why i

love this but a 72oz chamber i'll put the link down below from amazon i

will put the link to these filters as well you get 12 of them less than

ten bucks that's cheap I don't use these that often like I said the only time I

clean this thing is when I have to when it tells me it's begging for mercy so

you buy these little filters and what you do after you clean it all out and

you're all good to go open where your chamber is and you should have this

black plastic thing this is the water felt to hold on okay can you see that

you just there's a little clasp you open the clasp and look at there's the filter

right there so all the knives will change it while I'm doing this you take

this filter and you can see it where it goes easy peasy

close it up make sure it's closed and then insert this back again make sure

this thing is classed down so you can see it it's not hard to insert back in

make sure when you put the since clasp down because that could be another issue

okay so let's just run through the steps one more time so if I don't mess them up

so one you care it's broken you think it's broken

I'm plugging just leave it sit for a minute of to plug it back in try it out

still not working run it to try to run it with just hot

water and rinse step three still not working

um no kcup in this remember no k-cup and the last step either still not working

clean everything out and get the K-cup out of there get the paper clips stick

it in the little silver sharp tab clean out that k cup holder that's in there

rinse it all out with a wet rag just clean out all the little debris in

grinds try to run it still not working descale it fill this had vinegar half

water and just run this bad boy keep running it which means brew it if you

don't get my Rhode Island talk keep brewing just regular cups of

water without any K-cup in there when the vinegar and water mixture is done

fill it back up with water and keep running it through because you don't

want vinegar coffee I had it before it's gross okay and then replace the filter

make sure it's locked down properly this should always be locked down in place

and you should be good to go like I said I've had my from 2010 the Cuisinart SS
