Trump and South Korea's Moon to hold talks on Kim summit

US President Donald Trump and South Korea's Moon Jae-in are due to hold talks in Washington, amid uncertainty over a planned US-North Korea summit.

Last week the North said it may cancel the summit if the US insists on it giving up nuclear weapons unilaterally.

Mr Moon will try to calm US nerves to get talks back on track, observers say.

One of his officials said he would "likely tell President Trump what to expect and what not to expect from Kim", Yonhap news agency reported.

The historic 12 June summit is due to take place in Singapore. It follows a summit between Mr Kim and Mr Moon in April.

What has North Korea said?

The summit was first thrown into doubt when North Korea cancelled high-level talks with South Korea last Wednesday, saying it was angered by Seoul's joint-military exercises with the US.

The North called the exercises a "provocation" and a rehearsal for an invasion.

Pyongyang was then highly critical of US National Security Adviser John Bolton,

whom it accused of making "reckless statements" after he suggested the North could follow a "Libya model" of denuclearisation.

That was a reference to Libya's former leader Muammar Gaddafi who agreed to give up nuclear weapons in 2003. He was later killed by Western-backed rebels.

Mr Trump, however, later said that the "Libyan model isn't a model that we have at all" if an agreement is reached with North Korea.

"The model, if you look at that model with Gaddafi, that was a total decimation," he said.

"We went in there to beat him. Now, that model would take place if we don't make a deal, most likely.

But if we make a deal, I think Kim Jong-un is going to be very, very happy," Mr Trump added.

What has been the US response?

Mr Trump later clarified that the US was not pursuing the "Libya model" for North Korea.

Ahead of the meeting with Mr Moon, US Vice-President Mike Pence warned Mr Kim not to "play" Mr Trump if they meet next month.

Mr Pence said in a Fox News interview that such a move would be a "great mistake".

He also said there was "no question" that Mr Trump could walk away from the planned meeting in Singapore.

The New York Times reported on Sunday that the US president is asking aides and advisers whether he should continue to go forward with the summit.

Why is the summit so significant?

The planned summit first came about when Mr Trump accepted North Korea's invitation for direct talks earlier this year.

That followed more than a year of heated rhetoric between North Korea and the US, and global concern that the hostilities might escalate into military confrontation.

North Korea has conducted several nuclear tests over the past few years and has developed long-distance missiles it says can carry nuclear bombs as far as the US mainland.

If the summit happens, it would be historic as no sitting US president has ever met a North Korean leader.

Even then, is a deal likely?

Many observers believe the two leaders now have too much at stake for the summit not to go ahead.

However, Pyongyang's professed commitment to "denuclearisation" is likely to differ from Washington's demand for "comprehensive, verifiable and irreversible" nuclear disarmament.

North Korea has said it will start dismantling its nuclear test site this week, in a ceremony to be attended by foreign journalists.

Western, Russian and Chinese journalists are making their way to North Korea's remote Punggye-ri nuclear test site to witness its dismantling.

Pyongyang had previously said that South Korean journalists would be welcome to attend the event,

but later withdrew the offer following the country's joint military exercises with the US.

The journalists to witness the site's closure were flown into the North Korean port city of Wonsan.

Tom Cheshire from the UK's Sky News says their onward journey will take in unpaved roads and a two-hour hike to an observation area.

The site, in the country's mountainous north-east, is thought to be the North's main nuclear facility and the only active nuclear testing site in the world.

Testing has taken place in a system of tunnels dug below nearby Mount Mantap.

Police Officer Doesn't Have Spare Tire To Help Stranded Driver, So He Calls His Mom

For Backup

If you have a car, the feeling of being stranded and helpless on the side of the road will

most likely be a familiar one.

The young driver Treyshawn Coleman just recently got his driver's license and had to endure

a bit of car trouble recently.

While the young man was driving in Biloxi, Mississipi in his pickup truck, one of the

tires simply popped off the vehicle without warning.

He was able to move the car somewhat to the side, but he was still blocking traffic on

the relatively busy Highway 90.

Unfortunately, the driver didn't have a spare tire and was completely helpless.

Treyshawn then decided to get help and notified his mom Sharon Berry along with emergency

services, who told him that he just had to sit tight.

Sharon was on her way to the scene, but it would take a while before she got there.

In the meantime, the stationary car was blocking a severe amount of traffic and it could even

be considered dangerous at one point.

Luckily, it didn't take long before first responders arrived, and they quickly made

sure that the traffic situation wouldn't escalate any further.

An ambulance arrived and the workers positioned it a couple of yards before Treyshawn's

pick-up to notify other drivers of the predicament.

Shortly after the ambulance made its way to the scene, police officer Victor Tacordhick

from Biloxi arrived to help the young man out.

Unfortunately, without a spare tire, there just wasn't much that officer Tacordhick

could do.

It wasn't a small technical defect – they would need absolutely need a spare tire to

get this truck moving again.

The man had one final idea left which would definitely be able to resolve the situation

quickly.

The Biloxi Police Officer decided to call his own mother and asked her to come to the

scene with his own spare tire.

A selfless and heartwarming act of kindness and it didn't take long before Officer Tacordhick

installed his own personal tire onto Treyshawn's Chevy S-10.

The man's family later called him "an angel from God."

Treyshawn's mom took pictures of their encounter and posted them on Facebook.

"This man had God all over him.

In this man's line of work, I ask God to protect and watch over him each and every

day," the woman says about Treyshawn.

"We didn't get the EMS attendants' names, but they were awesome, also.

They stayed right there until Victor got there."

"People, I tell you to think about how nice these people were.

You don't have to go around saying I am a Christian — let your work speak for itself,

and it did in Biloxi yesterday."

Treyshawn's grandmother Shirley was also full of praise:

"My grandson broke down on Hwy 90 in Biloxi yesterday, and I have never experienced an

officer as nice as officer Victor and the ambulance officers.

That was an angel from God.

Nice, nice, nice.

Thank you Biloxi PD."

The post on Facebook also managed to gather some attention from the community.

"You're right about it!

There's some officers that take (their) jobs serious and aren't bad.

We salute officer Victor of Biloxi and police officers that truly service with honors and

respectully," Stephanie Free-Burks commented.

This police officer went above and beyond when he responded to a traffic call by providing

the helpless driver with his own spare tire, selflessly.

Thanks to him and his kind mom, this young driver was quickly able to resume his path.

Conservatives FREAK OUT After Netflix Announces Deal With Obamas - Duration: 3:05.

On Monday, Netflix announced that they had finalized a deal with Barack and Michelle

Obama for the Obama family to produce programming for the digital entertainment company.

And immediately after making this announcement, Conservatives on Twitter lost their collective

minds.

Some of the tweets that they sent in response, there were a lot of, "Well, I'm canceling

my Netflix now.

Not gonna support these people, they're working with the Obamas."

But some of them got a little bit more creative than that.

Here is just a few of them:

"Let me cancel my Netflix subscriptions, apparently they will let anyone on Netflix.

More of the same racist clap trap Obama good at."

"Netflix hiring Obamas make me sick.

Will cancel my account if it happens.

Why those two disgusting, rassist people?"

And racist is spelled with two S's in that one.

"Cancel at Netflix.

This will be nonstop social engineering, cultural Marxist programming and serve as a money laundering

front for bribes just like their books are."

And of course, who can forget this one, "Knowing that the #deepstate and #corruptobamas have

found yet another way to indoctrinate the American people by controlling what we watch

guarantees my family will #boycottnetflix and cancel our subscription today.

We can't MAGA without some sacrifice and effort."

Listen, I don't care if you like Obama.

I don't care if you want to watch their programming.

Netflix didn't say that this was the only thing that's going to be available on Netflix

in the near future, like they're just getting rid of everything else and it's only all Obamas

all the time.

I don't like the fact that they've made deals with Adam Sandler to continue putting out

crappy movies on Netflix every year, but I'm not boycotting them or canceling my subscription

over it.

These Conservatives don't seem to understand something that's really important here.

And this is why Netflix made this decision.

The Obamas are very smart.

The majority of people in this country like the Obamas, especially when you compare them

to what we have now in the White House.

So you may disagree with his policies, I disagree with a lot of his policies, but that doesn't

mean that he doesn't have something vital to say or that he and his wife together making

these mini documentaries, like they are planning to do, might help to educate an American public

that is desperately in need of some kind of education at this point.

The spelling errors, the typos, the conspiracy theories, all of that that we saw in the tweet

responses to Netflix's announcement show that this country needs something more.

Training Clinical laboratory Staff to Work at the Highest Level: Part 2 [Hot Topic] - Duration: 7:36.

Hi, I'm Bobbi Pritt, Director of the Clinical Parasitology Laboratory and Vice Chair of

Education in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic.

In Part One of this series Tiffany focused on training clinical laboratroy staff.

In Part Two she will discuss training in the clinical laboratory setting.

I hope you enjoy this month's Hot Topic series, and I want to personally thank you

for allowing Mayo Clinic the opportunity to be a partner in your patients' healthcare.

This is part two of the Hot Topic series on training in the clinical laboratory setting.

Today, I will be discussing the topic of training the trainers.

I have no disclosures.

As you view the presentation, consider the following questions regarding training.

How is it ensured that both the trainer and trainee are prepared?

And how will the results impact patient management?

There are two key questions that will be covered throughout the training series.

As we move into part two of the training series, we ask the key question, "How are trainers

trained?"

Most trainers do not necessarily possess an education background or are familiar with

the various elements to consider when working with trainees.

Each trainee comes into a work unit with his or her preferred styles and methodology for

learning.

What works for one trainee may not work for the next.

It is important for trainers to be well-prepared and equipped with the necessary information

to train each learner at an individual level.

The following Venn diagram shows the three focal points and their areas of overlap.

They are: learning styles, teaching styles, and training challenges.

The first circle of the diagram is "Learning Styles."

While there are several learning styles that trainees will have, the three that will be

discussed in this presentation are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning.

The trainer should ask his/her trainee which method of learning the trainee prefers so

the trainer can possibly use that particular style during the training process.

Visual learners are those who prefer text and images.

These trainees will frequently remember more information if they have read, or seen, the

task being executed previously.

Examples include textbooks, charts, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

For the trainer, it is important to consider incorporating images or other visuals into

training when working with someone who prefers the visual learning style.

Auditory learners are those who prefer verbal instructions.

Listening and repeating are ways for these types of learners to retain information.

Examples of auditory learning include lectures, discussion groups, and reading out loud.

For the trainer, consider explaining a task to the trainee, followed by the trainee repeating

back what was said to ensure that the interpretation was correct.

Kinesthetic learners are hands-on learners.

These trainees learn best when they are able to physically perform the task and troubleshoot

in the moment.

Examples of kinesthetic learners include hands-on activities, training exercises, and also teaching

tasks to peers.

The trainer should be prepared to demonstrate a task with the trainee following alongside.

The second circle of the diagram is "Teaching Styles."

The trainers were trained at some point during their careers, and they remember which of

their trainers shared the most insight.

Oftentimes, they will mimic what worked for them, but they also need to consider what

will work for the trainee.

The three teaching styles that will be covered are directing, discussing, and delegating.

The directing teaching style focuses on providing clear and concise directions.

This is the style that will most likely be used when first introducing a topic to a trainee.

It provides an introduction to the topic, without congesting the subject with too much

detail.

This is accomplished through presentations, lectures, demonstrations, and readings.

The discussing teaching style focuses on learning by interacting.

It is the next step of the learning process by introducing the critical thinking and troubleshooting

skills to the trainee.

This style is accomplished through discussion groups with pre-selected talking points and

the use of "clicker questions."

Clicker responses allow the trainer to further discuss the subject matter if there is a large

distribution of answers.

The delegating teaching style allows the trainee to feel empowered.

Tasks are assigned to the trainee but allows for them to be independent with their decision

making and execution of the task.

This style is performed through research projects and allowing trainees to work in teams to

determine roles and responsibilities to successfully complete the task.

The final circle of the diagram is "Training Challenges."

While many challenges may potentially arise, the three that will be discussed are communication,

diverse learners, and motivation.

It is important that the trainer be prepared as these situations present themselves.

As mentioned previously, each learner is unique, and how each arrives at the end point of independence

will vary.

Communication is essential when a trainer is working with a trainee.

The trainer needs to consider the delivery of the information and feedback to the trainee.

However, that communication goes beyond verbal.

Non-verbal communication includes body language, eye contact, tone, and gestures.

These aspects all need to be considered when interacting with a trainee.

If a trainer is not careful, a statement may come across as judgmental, or even demeaning,

even if it was not the trainer's intentions.

Diverse learners are to be expected as a part of training.

The diversity will include learning styles, cultural differences, language barriers, age,

and previous experience.

The trainers should be prepared to adjust their teaching methods to accommodate the

learners.

If possible, trainers and trainees should be paired up in a way that the diverse aspects

align with one another.

What motivates adults will vary for every trainee.

Outside factors such as bettering oneself and his or her families, experiences and being

able to learn more, and providing relevancy toward current skill sets are all ways in

which adult learners are motivated.

Attitudes with regard to the tasks being learned will ultimately be the trainee's decision,

but by getting to know the trainee, the trainer has an opportunity to help create a learning

environment that helps support the trainee's goals.

In summary, trainers need to be prepared for training.

This was the second portion of the Hot Topic series in training and focused on trainer

preparation, with the understanding of learning styles, teaching styles, and training challenges.

By providing direction and growth opportunities, as well as reflecting upon past experiences,

the trainers will be better equipped with the skills needed to ensure positive training

outcomes in future trainees.

Gowdy Took A Wrecking Ball To The Democrat's Criticism Of FISA Memo

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is one of the few in Congress willing to tell it like it is.

He has refused to mince words when it comes to the recently released Nunes memo.

And he just took a wrecking ball to the Democrats when they criticized the four-page memo.

While speaking on Face The Nation, Rep. Gowdy went after Rep. Adam Schiff (D-MA), dismantling

his concerns with the FISA memo.

Gowdy stated he "get[s] that Adam Schiff and others are worried about what's not

in my memo, I wish that they were equally concerned about what's not in the FISA application."

Gowdy is referring to the FISA application to spy on key members of the Trump campaign.

The application sourced the controversial Steele dossier, but it is unclear whether

it mentioned the fact that the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's

campaign paid for the dossier.

It also failed to mention how ex-British spy Christopher Steele had a strong bias against

the President, and wanted to do everything he could to make sure Trump wasn't elected.

THE FBI RELEASED A STATEMENT PRIOR TO THE MEMO'S FRIDAY RELEASE, WHICH STATED THE

AGENCY HAD "GRAVE CONCERNS" ABOUT ITS CONTENTS."

The point brought up by Gowdy is very powerful and is something the Democrats clearly don't

want to talk about.

They are hoping everyone forgets about the anti-Trump Steele dossier, and how it influenced

the Justice Department in their decision to spy on Trump campaign officials.

Sanders' top aide Jeff Weaver tried to do damage control the next day.

"What Bernie was doing last night was praising the power and significance of the Obama presidency

while at the same time pointing out that the national Dem Party has had a lot of failures

over the last 15 years," he said.

Sanders himself also took to Twitter to defend himself.

"It's unfortunate that some have so degraded our discourse that my recognition of the historical

significance of the Obama presidency is attacked," he tweeted.

It's sad that Democrats continue to worship Obama despite all the harm he has done to

our country.

[Vanessa] I think a lot of corporations feel that they don't have...

"We don't have anyone deaf working for us

and not many deaf people use our services",

but, they're saying that because they don't, perhaps, know the actual statistics.

I keep hearing approximations in Western World countries,

that about 10% of people have some degree of either deafness,

or hearing problems, or being hard of hearing.

So, if that's 1 in 10, it's quite commonly held,

there's 10% of the market right there,

and a lot of people, especially in employment situations, social situations,

they don't want to talk about their deafness or their hearing issues.

I have hearing conditions myself,

no one wants to hear me going on about my problems hearing.

So a lot of us just don't even bother explaining.

So we're kind of invisible,

and I think, with increased awareness about accessibility

and legislation coming out in many countries sort of simultaneously,

people are going to wake up and realize

that it's not as few people as they think.

So, In terms of people with hearing problems,

they absolutely have the right to captioning,

to have access to content.

On my blog I had a friend who's got 20% hearing.

I had her write about her experience

and one of the things that really struck my heart was...

She said: "When I have captions, I feel like I can participate in society."

And that really affected me.

[Reporter] Most of the businessmen that are CEOs of their own companies

worry about the Return of Investment.

What advice would you give them?

Again... someone needs to point at the bottom line to them,

that they've got a 10% population they're ignoring

and I was hearing, actually, over all disability rates are around 15%,

and if you can't appeal to a CEO

on the bottom line,

[laughs] I don't know what else can convince them.

Short of giving them experiences

with potential customers and potential employees

and showing them how much these services are needed.

And unless, perhaps they don't have someone in their social circle

or their family, with those problems

I think that they're quite oblivious, but they need educating.

This is AI:UX, a mini-series focus on 10 guidelines that

were created to assist all those that are involved in the design

and development of AI-based systems.

I'm Daria Loi, an Intel researcher,

and today I talk about guideline number

six, design systems that have consistent behaviors, yet

designed for serendipity.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

In my research, people expressed a fascinating duality.

On one hand, they asked for consistency and reliability

in their AI-based systems.

But on the other, they didn't want to feel predictable,

and asked for technology that could enrich their lives,

while also surprising them.

One of the research participants shared with me

that they don't like the idea of an AI system

changing how it acts, based on their behaviors.

They said, I need predictability.

But added, I want it to have consistent behaviors.

Imagine the consequences if a system

enabled you to achieve a specific goal by engaging

in the same two steps daily.

But suddenly, it requested steps or provided

outcomes completely different from what

you got used to over time.

It would be confusing and frustrating,

and you would feel like you were no longer in charge.

Routine matters.

And a break in routine is aggravating,

as users interpret sudden behavior changes

as a lack of consistency.

On the flip side, another one of my participants

shared their interest in an AI-based system

they could listen and adjust things accordingly.

When they want to make random decision or a quick adjustment,

they expect the system to adjust and be

able to enrich their lives, by surprising them

with the unexpected.

As long as it is within their comfort zones, priorities,

and established rules.

Many participants share these sentiments,

and this illustrates a duality between wanting

AI systems to predict their behaviors, while also

being serendipitous.

Remember, that human behavior cannot always be predicted.

With this duality in mind, it is important to balance

these contrasting perspectives in your user experience design.

Itd be interesting to know what percentage of Rolls-Royce customers actually use the configurator to get a sense of their desired spec before buying, and how many simply head straight to the showroom for the sort of luxurious, bespoke and deferential experience to which they are likely accustomed.

Wed wager the latter group greatly outweighs the former, which probably explains why Rolls doesnt seem to have put too much thought into the site; its merely a gimmick for the unwashed masses to play around with, so thats exactly what weve done.

The latest addition to said configurator is the Cullinan. Powered by a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12, its 570hp and 627lb ft of torque must shift the 5.3m long, 2,660kg behemoth with suitable levels of comfort and opulence.

Exactly what form that comfort and opulence takes is up each prospective owner, though, with a typically vast selection of customisation options being made available.

From lambswool floor mats to a gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy and foldaway seats which extend from the boot to paint-matched umbrellas stored in the doors, theres something for every sheikh, oligarch and lottery winner alike.

There are, of course, no prices on the configurator - if you need to ask, and all that - but the £250,000 starting price of the Cullinan should be the context on which your guesstimates are based.

The external options, unsurprisingly, dont really have much of an effect on the overall appearance of the car, so dominant is the scale of its design.

Even the more extreme paint colours are relatively reserved, though the satin-silver finish bonnet does seem to help somewhat, drawing the eye away from the radiator grille, which appears garishly prominent on a car of this size.

Inside is where Rolls really lets you off the leash though, with a plethora of unfathomably vulgar colours which would make you question the taste of even the most well-heeled of owners.

We created this purple, teal and turquoise monstrosity in the few minutes we had at our disposal, but surely a PHer can do better (or worse, rather).

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is one of the few in Congress willing to tell it like it is.

He has refused to mince words when it comes to the recently released Nunes memo.

And he just took a wrecking ball to the Democrats when they criticized the four-page memo.

While speaking on Face The Nation, Rep. Gowdy went after Rep. Adam Schiff (D-MA), dismantling

his concerns with the FISA memo.

Gowdy stated he "get[s] that Adam Schiff and others are worried about what's not

in my memo, I wish that they were equally concerned about what's not in the FISA application."

Gowdy is referring to the FISA application to spy on key members of the Trump campaign.

The application sourced the controversial Steele dossier, but it is unclear whether

it mentioned the fact that the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's

campaign paid for the dossier.

It also failed to mention how ex-British spy Christopher Steele had a strong bias against

the President, and wanted to do everything he could to make sure Trump wasn't elected.

THE FBI RELEASED A STATEMENT PRIOR TO THE MEMO'S FRIDAY RELEASE, WHICH STATED THE

The point brought up by Gowdy is very powerful and is something the Democrats clearly don't

want to talk about.

They are hoping everyone forgets about the anti-Trump Steele dossier, and how it influenced

the Justice Department in their decision to spy on Trump campaign officials.
