okay, we are back... All Prophecy fulfilled where we are defining
the last days biblically. Okay man I got a lot of information for you here I did
so well last lesson I think I kept it right around 25 minutes and I always
tell myself that's my goal because I know viewership goes like this
after about 15 minutes but you know, hey whatever. I did well then but that ain't
gonna happen now cuz I got so much information and this is good stuff okay
last lesson we looked at Hebrews chapter one verse two where we saw the phrase in
these last days which uses the Greek word eschatos which means last or the
uttermost or the the farthest point and that's exactly where the Hebrews had
come to they had come to the last farthest days of their covenant world
before it ended so we looked at that and I made the point that you know we can
easily demonstrate what is meant by these last days if and it's a big if if
we accurately carefully and honestly consider the context and we did that I
mean I you that's really what it was all about context context context and I'm
sure a lot of you were kind of rolling your eyes saying come on get on with it
but that's the problem I don't want to get on with it
I want to make sure we're doing this right the truth is as we approach the
New Testament the context is it's always about Israel their history their first
covenant their law their sins transgressions under that first covenant
and their road to a new covenant okay the creation of Israel's covenant world
the death and the curse it brought and their journey out of it that's what it's
about okay their road to redemption this
really is the essence of eschatology biblically defined not something we just
make up and throw out in our future because we think it makes sense
no eschatology the last days biblically defined okay
and here's the being honest part okay I mentioned let's be honest if we're
honest we do not avoid the clear explicit teaching that you know this
Redemption story here that I've been covering you know it was it was only
about in for those under the curse of the law okay
those who sins have been imputed them under that first covenant okay and for
whom Jesus the mediator of their New Covenant died to redeem those who
transgressed that first covenant and I've shared many verses that that are
indeed very explicit about Hebrews nine Galatians 4 in it cetera so that's it
okay and and I know this kind of stinks because it leaves us wondering wait a
minute what about us you know well I'm sorry but the truth is that
this particular redemptive narrative is not about us and I know how
disconcerting this can be I do it seems like it muddies the water when in truth
I think it's actually clearing the water for us it just takes a little bit of
time so you know what I don't have a lot of the answers for you and you know what
I'm not dealing with a lot of the answers to your questions and I get
those all the time what about us you seem to make the Bible irrelevant what
about heaven what about our sins and this and this and this and you know I'm
just saying you know what stop for right now I think that the most important
thing you can do is you can just try to accurately honestly and biblically
define the last days make that your mission because when you do that it will
it will put those outside of the pieces of the puzzle together because full
preterism those pieces fit those makes sense when you consider the time
statements in apocalyptic and prophetic language and the themes of the Prophet
it all comes together into fulfillment and fro fruition in those last days and
in really fulfillment makes sense that it puts those pieces to
gather nicely it doesn't Jam them in it doesn't contort them it's this and from
there you have a framework to wit to work into or within and from there you
can begin asking questions in making sense but you know what we have to first
be honest and define the last days biblically and from there I think things
will begin to make sense so let's continue to put this frame these outside
pieces together that's the way I see it ok so here we are in Hebrews chapter 1
and the Hebrews had indeed come to the eschatos the farthest uttermost last
point of their covenant days and here's HW a Hebrew writer and he's pleading
with them remain in Christ don't get out of the ark attract Christ because
judgment is coming down on this first covenant city and those who remain in it
okay so chapter 1 HW is speaking of Jesus the son better than the angels
only Jesus the mediator could have purged their sins committed under that
first covenant in verse 7 it says of the Angels he says then HW quotes from Psalm
104 then in contrast he says in verse 8 but to the son he says then HW cite
Psalm 45 and then in verse 10 and this is where I promise you how it's gonna
focus in on in verse 10 here's that Old Testament hyperlink that I promised you
right are you ready in verse 10 still speaking to the son hwae
says this here we go you Lord in the beginning laid the foundation of the
earth and the heavens are the work of your hands they will perish
but you will remained and they will grow old like a garment like a cloak you will
fold them up and they we'll be changed but you are the same
and your years will not fail now we have to ask why in the heck and for what
purpose is HW citing this and I'm actually we need to ask that about all
these but I'm focusing on this one what's the point how is this reference
to a to a heavens and earth here contextually connected to what HW is
talking about well like I said it's all about covenant covenant covenant
covenant right and you know what I bet most people who read this they just
brush over this like they'll read this a hundred times and they're just gonna
brush right over and they're not even gonna give this a thought as to why this
is here okay and and if any thought is given to it it probably goes something
like this yep God made everything and then you know
someday according to this verse here they'll perish God's gonna get rid of
this dirty old world this sinful world he's gonna make a new one for us he's
gonna burn it up just like old st. Peter says somewhere in one of his letters no
here's a question that's the destruction of the planet the cosmos the physical
creation does that have anything to do with what Peter hwae is talking about in
his letter does that have anything to do with what he's addressing no nothing at
all it's all about covenant in Hebrews their first covenant in relationship to
the new one they're entering so let's look at this closer okay let's click on
this hyperlink and go back to whatever in whoever he's citing and with the
critical mind here Paul here is citing from Psalm 102 and he's also referencing
I believe Isaiah 50 and 51 so hold on your to your hats because we are gonna
click on this hyperlink let's click and go
back to Psalm 102 here we go let me start in verse 18 this will be
written for the generation to come that a people yet to be created may praise
the Lord okay okay so the psalmist here says that there is a people yet to be
created what people future - the psalmist who would praise the Lord would
eventually be created now I think you know the answer to that it's the church
it's the new covenant people think about it a new people through a
new covenant a new creation a people yet to be created what does that make them
that means the people are the creation how are they created through a new
covenant again people through covenant are though creation even on the
individual level think about it it begins to make sense this would be one
of those inside pieces of the puzzle you know when we get to the new New
Testament even on the individual level if any was was in Christ what was he a
new creation okay and there's plenty of scriptures about this this creation of
people offering sacrifices not animals but praise that's what it says here that
a people yet to be created may praise the Lord Hebrews 13:15 through him then
we should offer the sacrifice of praise
sorry sacrifices of praise continually
everything to God that is the fruit of the lips confessing his name's how about
first Peter 2:5 offering spiritual sacrifices as opposed to what those
animal sacrifices spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ
let's read on shall we how about 19 through 20
- let's continue on for he look down from the height of a sanctuary from
heaven the Lord viewed the earth - to hear the groaning of the prisoner to
release those appointed to death to declare the name of the Lord in Zion
when the people's are gathered together and the kingdom's to serve the Lord
now remember HW has clicked or he has cited this and he wants us to go back
and look at this because this is relevant to his discussion okay so there
is a people yet to be created a new creation yet to come
so whose groaning here that's a bad groan sorry who is groaning God here is
looking down from heaven on what on who who's God looking at here on the land
the earth on the people what people he's looking down on the people before the
people yet to come he's looking down on the first creation his first created
covenant people Israel Israel under law in what does he see he sees his people
his creation groaning what are they groaning for they're groaning under the
curse of the law prisoners of the law and the death of the law they were in
bondage under the law just like in Egypt never that they the children of Israel
groaned because of the bondage to Egypt that's
Exodus 2:23 so to hear that very same people who had entered covenant with God
and become Israel under law likewise you know where they were doing
they were crying out they were groaning for release from the bondage they were
under please release me amigo I don't know if they were singing
that but that's the essence they were in bondage man I'm kind of pumped up today
I don't know what the deal is they were groaning now you know what
groaning hmm well that sounds familiar where have I heard something about a
creation groaning well I think you might know how about Romans chapter eight
listen to this Romans chapter eight well certain verse 18 for I consider that the
suffering of this present time are suffering are not worthy to be compared
with the glory that shall mellow are about to be revealed in us for the
earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the
sons of God for the creation was subjected to futility not willingly but
because of him who subjected it in hope because the creation itself also will be
delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the
children of God for we know the whole creation groans and Labor's with birth
pangs until now not only that but we also who have the firstfruits of the
Spirit even we ourselves groan within ourselves
eagerly waiting for the adoption hey Galatians 4 4 and 5 the adoption the
redemption of our body are you starting to see this my voice is cracking I'm so
excited it's all about covenant covenant covenant covenant the old creation
groaning here in Chapter 8 it's not the physical planet okay it's not the
universe crying out to be made new it's the old covenant creation of people
people people people yearning to be freed from the bondage of the curse of
the law Romans is really all about Israel
that's what it's about Israel under law they along with God in the Covenant to
which they entered came together are you ready for this they came together that
the they came together they were that covenant creation was the old heavens an
earth they were the old heavens and earth that's what that is now listen to
this that's why HW quotes this let me get to
the exact quote what Psalm 102 let's concede ready are you ready for it we've
been in Psalm 102 18 through 22 now listen to this in 25 of old you laid the
foundation of the earth and the heavens are the work of your hands they will
perish but you will endure yes they will all grow old like a garment like a cloak
you will change them and they will be changed you are the same and your years
will have no end the children and your servants will continue and their
descendants will be established before you so what is the work of his hands his
creation his people he created them he put them under law in bondage and they
groaned but that would grow old they would grow old
what would grow up what would perish they would that creation that covenant
in that covenant people when would that happen well we see it happening in the
New Testament that was what Romans 8 was talking about when the people yet to be
created through a new covenant through Messiah were created then the old
heavens and earth the Old Covenant the Old Covenant people would vanish away
and that's exactly what hwae says eight Hebrews eight thirteen insane new he has
made obsolete the first and that which is growing old
and Ageing is near vanishing it's all about covenant the vanishing away of the
first covenant was the vanishing away of the original creation the original
heavens and earth what does that make the new creation or the new covenant the
new covenant people well I just said it makes them the new creation and it makes
that the new heavens and earth in which there is no curse okay and you know what
I'm not done folks but wait there's more Isaiah chapter 50 okay man this is good
in verse eight he's asking the question who will contend with me let us stand
together who is my adversary okay so he says he's asking the question this is
Isaiah who is my adversary okay now it's disputed is is God asking this question
or is it Isaiah I believe it's Isaiah listen to this verse 9 surely the Lord
will the Lord God will help me who is he who will condemn me indeed they will
grow old like a garment the moth will eat them up okay he's saying God's gonna
help him okay so who or what adversary condemned or try to condemn Isaiah or
all Israel for that matter well you know what I can think of something rather
obvious you want to hear it the law they were under the law it was the Ministry
of death it accused it condemned it killed them and you know what there
really was no atonement or forgiveness for them really so long as they were
under it you know what it just kind of rolled on
year after year after year those sacrifices kind of pushing everything
forward but I want you to notice what he says here at the end of verse nine they
will grow old like a garment the moth will eat them up again we see something
growing old and what's more we see the adversary that condemns not only growing
old but it's like being eaten up to me that seems like judgment okay so can you
think of an adversary can you think of a a Satan asset on
that's what adversary means right can you think of a sane that was beaten up
that was judged and defeated in the New Testament well I can apostate Israel her
leaders and her system of law that which accused that's what's condemned that
which brought death and was persecuting the church in the New Testament was
indeed defeated that adversarial system of law in the death it was attached to
it was the final enemy really to be destroyed so they could come out of
Jesus was the way out of that old heavens and earth into that new God
space where there was no curse and I tell you what we can trace an
adversarial serpent line that extends all the way back you know from Genesis
to Revelation the serpent of all the devil the Satan the enemy to be defeated
was tied to that first covenant in law in fact I dealt with this the serpent
line in my gog and magog who is gog and magog video so that system and its
leaders really weren't adversarial to the new creation in Christ but God's new
covenant people would prevail and the first covenant would perish and that's
why and that's how Paul could say such things as Romans 16:20 the God of peace
will crush Satan the adversary will crush Satan under your feet shortly your
feet elect your feet Church your feet those of you and Messiah okay you will
crush the adversary that's all creation that old adversarial that system that
had become adversarial okay let's jump to Isaiah 51 and really we've got the
same thing going on here as we do in Psalm 102 the people of the land people
that we've got the people in the land down here and you've got God here heaven
heaven and earth and they are coming together through a covenant a covenant
heaven and earth listen to this Isaiah 51 4 through 6 listen to me my people
talk to the people give ear to me o my nation for law will proceed from me and
I will make my Justice rest a light of the peoples my righteousness is near my
salvation has gone forth my arms will judge the people's the coastlands will
wait upon me and on my arm they will trust now listen to this lift up your
eyes to the heavens and look on the earth beneath for the heavens will
vanish away like smoke and the earth will grow old like a garment and those
who dwell in it there's your judgment those who dwell in it will die in like
manner but he says my salvation here's your contrast contrast two covenants my
salvation will be forever please tell me that you see this this isn't the
physical cosmos or the planet planet Earth vanishing away okay
just like Hebrews 813 affirms it's the Old Covenant and those in it okay those
who chose to remain it at that time that's the focal point of Hebrews stay
in Christ in the New Covenant stay in the Ark of Christ the new creation
because the first creation is going to be destroyed and that's what's going on
here and I don't know if you caught this but here at the end here he says but my
salvation will be forever and my righteousness will not be abolished you
know and that's all throughout hey its thematic it's all throughout the Old
Testament prophets this this new covenant system this New Jerusalem
established under 'the where what righteousness dwells okay righteousness
is gonna dwell this so the that's a contrast of coven ahsoka in fact i mean
jesus really says the same thinking if you think about it when he's describing
the judgment on jerusalem right Old Covenant Jerusalem you read the downfall
of the temple what does he say in relation to that judgment he says this I
tell you the truth but truly I tell you this generation will certainly not pass
away until all these things have happened that's what he's talking about
the downfall of that first creation heaven and earth will pass away but my
words will never pass away he's you know what he's doing he says taken from from
Isaiah 51 it's all he's doing ladies and germs the Bible is amazingly consistent
in the use of its of the term heavens and earth does this term or can this
term mean the physical heavens and earth the actual you know literal sky and land
well yeah I'm sure it can and it does but ultimately even beginning in Genesis
now you don't but I don't want to hear that even beginning in Genesis the
heavens and earth in sight just like you know just like Hebrews is a covenant
creation it's the creation of a people heaven and earth coming together it's
not a physical one and that's what I'm getting at yes I said it the old heavens
and the the Earth spoken of in Genesis is the first creation which is the first
covenant so when we get to the New Testament the Old heavens and the the
earth that would be destroyed and the knew that would come spoken of by HW and
others like second Peter 3 for example John and revelation it's the very same
heavens and earth spoken of by the prophets like Isaiah 65 there's a famous
woman so have I mentioned it's all about covenant but wait there's more you gotta
check this out man this this right here this
really is gonna gonna blow your mind Isaiah 51 verse 13 and you forgot the
Lord your maker he's talking to Israel here you forgot the Lord your maker who
stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth now holy crap
are you seeing this he's speaking Israel he said look he's like look I made you I
created you you are my creation can you say all creation can you say first
creation okay when he made them through covenant how does he describe it he
describes it out stretching out the heavens and laying the foundations of
the earth do you really think he's saying look I made you oh no by the way
unrelated topic I made I made the physical planet I made this no no that's
not that's not what he's saying okay this here was the beginning of their
covenant world not planet Earth this was their creation when did this
happen well just like I've been saying for like
some forty some lessons go back to Exodus numbers Deuteronomy okay that was
the beginning and just like it says here in verse 10 which I didn't read I'll
read it to you God dried up the sea the waters of the
great deep and made the depths of the sea a road for the redeemed to cross
over okay that's the Exodus okay then he entered
into covenant with them there now check this out
stay with me here move up to verse 15 and 16 but I am the Lord your God who
divided the sea whose waves roared still same thing here okay divided that sea
this is the crossing this is the Exodus this is this is when they they cross
over and they entered into covenant he says the Lord of Hosts is his name and I
have put my words in your mouth I have covered you with the shadow of my hand
that I may plant the heavens lay the foundations of
the earth and say to Zion you are my people and man I hope you see how
revealing this is God divided the sea for them
he put his words in their mouths what words the law okay
that's the Mosaic law this is them entering into covenant this is their
creation this is their covenant world being created and maybe you're thinking
no duh but I want you to notice this is so important God is telling them right
here why why did he do this for what purpose okay to what end did he
create his Old Covenant people are you ready for this the answer is and I just
read it that I may plant the heavens and lay the foundations of the earth and say
to Zion you are my people seriously listen he created the first covenant
people his old covenant people the first heaven in sinners knowing that they
would grow old and perish and those who remain in it that's verse 6 and 7 but he
did that so that for the purpose of creating a new people Psalm 102 a new
heavens and earth and what is this new heaven sensor and earth well it's not
the physical cosmos it's not a new planet it's not new physical bodies for
you and me no it's a new space it's a god space it's a new way of thinking I
think that's really what the New Jerusalem the new heavens and earth are
in word it's a new heavens enter were in earth in which the law and its curse
would be non-existence so that the righteousness of God instead of the
death would reign and the only sacrificing going on would be people's
praise in love for God so this my friends was on the
cus because Israel had bottlenecked into the last days and it was about to come
to an end vanished away and they were just out into the new heavens and new
earth and fly away I'm sorry does a little bit new agey there you know man I
don't know where am I at here I I'm so excited I lost my space so this is
powerful stuff so you know if you think that there is some big grand finale
where Jesus comes back and he makes everything nude man you need to think
again because you're gonna have to come up with some other passages to prove
that but you're not gonna find them so in other words look if you're a a
Christian and you're still looking for a future return of Jesus and you think
that's your hope your hope is misguided the evidence presented just in this one
lesson I think throughout this series I think it just demolishes that idea
because the appearance of Jesus for a second time
Hebrews 9 and his coming you know or we call it his return whatever you want to
call it that is directly tied to the entrance of the new heaven and earth and
we've we've repeatedly proven just like today the full entrance of the heaven
and earth was part and parcel with the consummation of the New Covenant that
was made with the house of Israel in the house of Judah and that my friends
that's in our rearview mirror so remember what I said about four lessons
ago if if you're gonna accurately and honestly and biblically define the last
days man you are gonna have to honestly deal with three things the authority of
the prophets the language of the prophets and the themes of the prophets
and honestly I think we did that today so don't you yeah I don't answer that
maybe I don't want to know I don't know where I'm heading next if
you want feel free to throw me a passage of something you'd like me to address
and maybe I will go there I'm not really sure so thanks for tuning in...
We will see you next round my friends Take care, and Adios
