*Heigh Ho!* My name is Carson Lutterloh and I am a Disney fanatic. One of the most
*fabulous* things about Disney is that *right here, right now* I can be
transported to *a whole new world.* It's *the gospel truth* that to do this
Disney has accomplished a plethora of technological feats and are constantly
staying *one jump ahead.* They aren't afraid to *try a little something new!*
While the live-action *Beauty and the Beast* captivated me, and I haven't been able to
stop singing the Beast's song *evermore,* my favorite use of Disney's technology
takes me back to being *human again,* spending time with my family at Disney
World. After considering all the options...I just
couldn't *let it go.* *In summer* 2016, I had the chance to see the Magic Kingdom's
firework show, now called *Happily Ever After.* The technology behind the castle's
projections and the fireworks display are mind-blowing. The show is as smooth as
the *colors of the wind* and always leads to *a night to remember.*
I'm the youngest of five brothers, and to this day, you can *bet on it* that our family still can't
get over the technological magic. In this day and age, technology has become a big *part of your world.*
Technology started out as one of the *little wonders* in my life and is
now a tool that helps me *go the distance.* Just as technology has caused *a change in me,*
it was great Hopper *who said,* "The most damaging phrase in the language is
'we've always done it that way.'" She was an amazing pioneer for women in computing
and it's important that we continue to recognize the trailblazing that she, and
all women, have accomplished to change our world. It's important that we don't
*stick to the status quo,* but we always celebrate diversity, *everyday,* in
everything. *Life's what you make it,* and I want to play my part to make it better,
in this case, by celebrating the many women in computing who have made it better for
us all. That's why I'm a member of Women Who Compute at UT Dallas, and that's also
why I would love to attend the 2017 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in
Computing Conference. Thank you!
