Palmer agrees Town return after signing new Chelsea deal

Kasey Palmer has agreed to re-sign for Huddersfield Town on a season-long loan after putting pen to paper on a new deal at Chelsea, sources have told TEAMtalk.

The England Under-21 midfielder was one of Huddersfield's stand-out performers as the Terriers capped a dream season by winning promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.

Huddersfield had made the signing of several of their loan stars their top priority once promotion was secured, and while Town were keen on a permanent deal, our sources have told us that Chelsea have granted Palmer permission to make another season-loan loan move to Yorkshire.

Palmer made 26 appearances, scoring five times in all competitions for Huddersfield during his time at the John Smith's Stadium and the Blues are happy to let him continue his development in West Yorkshire for another season.

But Chelsea rate Palmer highly and are understood to have rewarded the Lewisham-born midfielder, 20, with a new deal in a bid to protect their interest in the player.

The news is expected to be confirmed by both clubs in the coming days.

The Argentinian shot stopper was released following the expiry of contract at the Etihad, and joined Premier League champions Chelsea.

It brings to an end a three-year spell at the club for the 35-year-old, and clearly the person responsible for Citys Instagram account has some fond memories.

Caballero only made 47 appearances for City during his time in Manchester, used predominantly as a backup option.

Undoubtedly he was a popular figure at the club for a number of reasons, but the term legend was seen as an exaggeration - even by City fans.

Some of the comments on the post were particularly unforgiving: "What did he actually do for us? Save a couple penalties?""I don't get City sometimes, you call Caba a legend while we send Hart out to rot in Italy without a goodbye.

"Jheez stop embarrassing us city, he's a cult hero not a legend.

Played less than 50 matches, defo a legend.Clearly then, a fair few City fans dont agree with that sentiment.

Caballeros popularity increased following his performance against Liverpool in the 2016 League Cup final victory, in which he made a string of impressive saves and kept out three penalties in the shootout.

But City fans will be hoping new arrival Ederson does slightly more to be given legendary status.
