Hi Masterminds it's Galit Tsadik, your Financial Goddess Guru and today I'm
going to talk to you a little bit about my story. Now most of you know that I'm
really passionate and I really enjoy helping individuals and businesses take
control of their finances and understand their life and understand their business
through understanding their money. Now most of you don't know WHY I'm so
passionate about money and about understanding your money and about
financial education. It all comes down to my past. I grew up in a home where I
was physically and emotionally abused and one of the ways that my father tried
to control my mother, siblings, and I was through money; and he always told me, my
siblings, my mother that we were not worth anything and that we would never
be worth anything. And that was his way of keeping us where he wanted us and
making sure that we never got out from under his craziness. So I really had a
lot of hangups surrounding my self-worth and surrounding my relationship with
money. This was really escalated when at 12 years old we (my mother, younger
sibling and I) ran away to a domestic violence shelter and I met all of these
other women who were told the exact same thing. That they weren't worth anything,
that their children weren't worth anything, that they'd never be anything
without the man that was controlling them and I really understood
that you can't let someone else determine your worth. There were all
these women who were so scared to leave a horrible situation, where they were
close to being killed, just because they were afraid to do it on their own. Their
husband had always controled the money, and they didn't know how to budget,
and they didn't know what to do, and they thought their kids were gonna be taken
away from them because they didn't have enough money to feed them. Maybe they
weren't working, whatever the case was, they had all these hang-ups over their
self-worth and over money because they had allowed
someone else to determine their value! Now that is when my perspective on money
changed I had always been, you know, more prone to
saving and spending less because we didn't have much but my whole mentality
around money changed. I wanted to make sure that I always knew what was in my
pocket and I always knew what my finances look like so that if I was ever
in the same situation I would not make the same decisions that those other
women made. They stayed because because they were scared and what I wanted to do
was always know my worth financially and otherwise so that I never had to stick
around when things weren't going well. And it's really important for me to give
other people, not just women, a financial education so that they are not stuck in
those same situations. Whether it be in a relationship at home or in a
toxic relationship at work, because that can happen too. You might stay at a
horrible job because you're too scared to go out and find another job or
you're not sure that you're actually worth getting a
raise, so you don't ask for that raise! And if you knew your
finances and if you understood how to work with them then you wouldn't have
those kind of hang-ups. You wouldn't have those kind of issues because the second
something's not working out for you and you're in a toxic environment you can
say "Screw you, I'm out of here I have enough money to be my backup
until I'm able to find another job or create an income for myself". So that's
really what I wanted to share with you; have you guys see a little bit into why
