Youtube daily report Feb 27 2018

So often in American high school movies, there's a certain format when you think about the

students, especially in those older films.

The cliques, and the clichés, usually involve some alpha male who's a bit of a jock.

He's handsome and tough, but usually gets his comeuppance.

If there's an alpha female, the school's hottest chick, well, she often turns out to

be mean and insecure.

Then there's the bespectacled nerd, or the likeable and clumsy stoner, and the wholesome

churchgoing kid who really pines for wild excitement.

Is there any truth to these stereotypes?

Probably, yes, but only you can be the judge of that.

A better question is, why do some kids always seem to attract a following?

That's what we'll find out today, in this episode of The Infographics Show, What Makes

Popular Kids Popular?

This popularity game isn't just a phenomenon in high school.

If you watch young kids interact in primary school, or even pre-school, you'll often

see a child that seems to spend a lot of time by him or herself, ignored and sometimes looking

slightly sad.

Then you look over to the other end of the playground and there's a little tyrant shouting

orders and taking charge of pretty much everything.

This is often the popular child, at least as far as the eye can see.

One Researcher named Patricia Hawley calls these types of children "bistrategic controllers".

There's another name for this that you might know: Frenemie.

They dominate, and they could be what we call alpha-kids.

Hawley says they will also take stuff from their friends and threaten other children.

Now, while that doesn't sound like it could lead to popularity, she also says they have

great social skills and can be very cooperative.

Still, why are they so popular?

Well, that's partly because they are usually quite charming and act in a positive way.

It draws kids to them.

This confidence of theirs attracts friends and that makes them happy, and this happiness

is also said to be magnetizing.

Psychology Today goes further, explaining that by time the kids are around the age of

eleven they are already in some kind of clique.

But there's one clique more popular than the others, and about one third of young students

will be in that clique.

"This group engages in a lot of nasty political maneuvering to maintain or enhance social

status," the researcher said, stating that about one tenth of students will be trying

to get into this clique – the hangers-on – and another one tenth will be natural

born loners.

About half of the students in one school year won't care much about popularity and have

their own small group of friends, without much politics, and they are generally loyal

and caring to one another.

They might only be popular with their group, but it seems they might also be more content.

Besides being dominant, psychologists say that when children approach their teens, just

being good-looking will make them popular, as will athleticism, wealth, strength and

sometimes the fear they impose, or the fashionable clothes they wear.

While manipulative and aggressive kids may win other kids over in the younger years,

researcher Antonius Cillessen says that these cool kids will often lose their attraction

in high school.

But there is always nuance when it comes to the human mind.

An Australian study taken in 2015 said one of the best assets a kid can have if he or

she wants to be popular is actually, "mind-reading."

They were talking about young kids, though, ages 2-10.

They looked at 2,096 children from Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America and found that those

that got on best and were popular knew what the other kids wanted, thought and felt.

They were empathetic.

You don't have to be a Mean Girl to be liked, but you may have to if you want to constantly

be the belle of the ball.

The British Journal of Developmental Psychology said a similar thing, in that kids that know

what others are thinking tend to be popular, and they added that sometimes this could be

used for kind acts but at other times manipulation.

It's no wonder school is sometimes called a Battleground.

The same study said jock popularity was indeed a real thing, stating older high schoolers

will be drawn to strong, good-looking, athletic and smartly dressed kids.

But in actuality, said the study, we might just perceive them being more popular…they

might also be secretly envied or hated by their peers.

Who needs that?

The study said the same about tough guys.

While they might be surrounded by minions, that doesn't necessarily mean they are popular.

Humans are not primates, and we don't have the same dominance hierarchy because we have

more developed and complex minds.

In fact, what really makes popular kids more popular is when they have great impulse control.

They might get angry, but only when it is called for.

Most studies state that those dominant kids who may seem popular but are distrusted, disloyal,

or too aggressive, are actually not as popular as we might think.

Psychologists state that these kids are often unhappy on the inside as we all get fulfillment

from true love and sincere friendships.

But why trust the experts?

What do high school kids think about what makes others popular?

This was asked on a forum and here are some of the answers.

One high school senior said social skills was one thing, but also having some particular

skill you are very good at.

You must have both.

The sociability might be an important factor here, as sometimes great minds tend to be

less sociable.

We might call these young adults nerds, or geeks.

The genius Elon Musk said he was always a bit different, and for that he said he was

continually bullied in school, enough to traumatize him.

Musk's first wife once said, "I don't think people understand how tough he had it growing

up.

He was a really lonely kid."

Michael Phelps said he was also bullied a lot, but said he channeled his anger into

his training regimen.

Most people on the forum agreed, being good at socializing and having some kind of talent

was key to high school popularity.

Another person was maybe more cynical, and even had her own equation for popularity.

This combined looks, friends, number of enemies, rejections, and who is following you on Instagram.

She believed mathematically you could work out your popularity, but it's likely she

was joking.

So, what if you are popular, or were popular, what does this mean for later life?

One study led by Joseph P. Allen, Hugh P. Kelly, Professor of Psychology at the University

of Virginia, looked at 184 U.S. teens and followed them for ten years from age 13 to

23.

According to that study, being popular comes back to bite you in the butt.

They said the popular kids in high school were more likely to have problems with drugs,

alcohol and even have more chance of becoming involved in crime.

The study also followed those cool kids in school who showed "pseudomature behaviors."

These are the reckless kids, the kids that first smoke, sneak into movie theaters, damage

property or tell you how they reached second base when you haven't even been near the

field.

Not surprisingly, these kids, as the Hollywood movies often portray, became more delinquent

until it started to make them less popular and more reckless.

The study said they would take part in riskier and more criminal acts to gain popularity

with older peers, but it was a dead-end street.

As for the kids that were only popular for their looks or bravado, the study said in

later life this became a problem.

"These previously cool teens appeared less competent — socially and otherwise — than

their less cool peers by the time they reached young adulthood," said the researchers.

Because their early relationships weren't grounded in empathy and love, in adult life

they struggled to form lasting relationships.

So, are you in high-school right now, and if so, can you add to this?

We've all been there, so what do you think about these studies?

Do they mirror your experience?

Chest Pain: What you cannot afford to miss with Rachel Liu M.D. - Duration: 3:30.

Chest pain is the one of the most frequent reasons people come to the Emergency Department.

Its numerous causes range from benign to life-threatening, with overlapping symptoms, making identification

of serious problems difficult.

Our goal is to tease out who is having, or at risk of having, an emergent problem.

Symptoms of chest pain can be caused by acute coronary syndromes from myocardial ischemia

or angina, or can have a non-cardiac origin.

The most severe life-threatening causes of chest pain can be remembered using the mnemonic

MAP IT:

Myocardial infarction Aortic Dissection or Aneurysm

Pulmonary embolus, Pericarditis and Pneumothorax Intestinal causes

Tamponade

Patients may describe "crushing" chest pain like "an elephant sitting on my chest"

that radiates to the jaw or left shoulder and arm.

They may sweat a lot, can't get comfortable, are anxious, vomiting, have shortness of breath

or feel faint.

Heart attacks may present atypically, especially in women, elderly and diabetics.

Unfortunately, these same symptoms characterize those suffering from thoracic aortic dissection

or rupturing aneurysm.

Sometimes, patients complain of tearing chest pain radiating through to the upper back.

Pericardial effusion itself may not be life-threatening, but progression to tamponade causes obstructive

shock.

It can occur from trauma, cancer or pericardial inflammation like in pericarditis.

Pulmonary embolus causes chest or back pain especially when deep breathing, and may occur

with shortness of breath, low oxygen saturation or tachycardia.

Pneumothorax can be traumatic or spontaneous, with introduction of air into the pleural

space gradually forcing the lung to shrink.

It can progress to tension pneumothorax, an immediate life-threatening process.

Intestinal problems like gastritis or acid-reflux disease are frequent benign mimickers of dangerous

chest pain etiologies.

But others, like bleeding peptic ulcers or cholecystitis may be fatal.

Evaluating chest pain can be a difficult process.

In emergent situations, there may not be time to wait for labwork or imaging studies, and

physical examination is often not sensitive enough to make a definitive diagnosis.

Point-of-Care Ultrasound has become crucial to diagnosing these conditions quickly, leading

to faster management, improved patient care, and lives saved.

China Wins 2018 Team World Cup, Michael Maze Returns | TT News Weekly - Duration: 3:27.

This week on TT News Weekly: China wins 2018 Team World Cup titles,

and Michael Maze comes out of international retirement.

The Copper Box Arena hosted the world's best table tennis teams as the 2018 Team World

Cup arrived in London.

Two trophies were on offer at the competition with China securing both the Men's Team and

Women's Team gold medals.

One of the biggest upsets of the Men's Team draw came courtesy of the Brazilian team,

who inflicted a 3-2 defeat on fourth seeds Hong Kong in the group stage of the tournament.

However, England was surely the surprise side in the category as the host nation defied

the odds to achieve a bronze medal finish in front of the home crowd.

Liam Pitchford was England's star man, registering shock victories over the likes of Japanese

teenage ace Tomokazu Harimoto and Brazil's Hugo Calderano and also managed to pick up

a game in his encounter with World No.2 Fan Zhendong.

The other bronze medal went to Korea Republic, who narrowly lost out to Japan in the semi-finals.

Facing the Japanese team in the title match was China in a repeat of the 2016 World Team

Championship Men's Team final, and once again it was the Chinese line-up who emerged victorious.

Ma Long and Xu Xin partnered up for Team China in the opening fixture of the final with the

2011 Men's Doubles World champions proving too strong for Japan's Jin Ueda and Koki Niwa.

China's advantage was doubled after Fan Zhendong stormed to a straight games victory over Tomokazu

Harimoto before Ma Long completed the win, coming out on top against Koki Niwa by a 3-1

scoreline.

Over in the Women's Team final it was another China vs Japan encounter and once again there

were scenes of celebration for the defending champions.

Just as seen in the Men's Team final China overcame opponents Japan by a 3-0 margin.

Ding Ning and Liu Shiwen gave China the perfect start to the tie with a doubles victory over

Hina Hayata and Mima Ito prior to singles wins from Zhu Yuling and Ding Ning against

Kasumi Ishikawa and Mima Ito to seal the gold medal.

Hong Kong and DPR Korea earned bronze medals for their efforts while a special mention

must go to the USA team who outperformed expectations to reach the quarter-finals.

Danish table tennis legend Michael Maze has announced that he will return to the international

scene following his retirement in 2016.

European champion in 2009, Michael Maze retired from international table tennis due to recurring

injury problems but has featured at club level in the 2017-2018 season of the European Champions

League.

Maze has set out a target of qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, stating that

he is feeling fully fit and ready to get going.

ENGLAND will look to take on the world in slightly more attacking manner during this summers World Cup in Russia.

After the horror show that was Euro 2016 - and the World Cup two years prior - Gareth Southgate could ask his players to take the attack to the opposition with more purpose.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is Englands No1 dribbler so far this season.

Getting the ball on the ground and running at defences could be the way to go in Russia, with stars including Dele Alli and Raheem Sterling skilled dribblers.

Former Barcelona team-mates Neymar and Lionel Messi complete a star-studded top three.

but its the Premier League that dominates the top 20.

Pioneering Academic Drug Discovery - Duration: 1:10.

I like being able to solve a basic science problem and immediately ask how it's going

to impact society, but especially cognitive dysfunction – Alzheimer's, post- oncology

treatments in children, the follow on after brain injury.

We look at how cells communicate within themselves and with each other at a basic level, so we

try to understand normal process and identify the molecules that are critical for regulating

that, then we compare that to disease states and from that knowledge we then try to find

places where we can intervene with new drugs that will fix the problem.

Northwestern pioneered the type of academic drug discovery that goes on here.

It's investigator initiated, it's bottom-up, based on very solid science.

The types of drugs that we make, the pathways we modulate, those are good investments for

the future and it may be in individual drug that goes forward, but more importantly from

an academic prospective, it's actually identifying what is feasible and what could be done in

the next 20 years.

Something that really motivates me personally.

Trainee Stories: Kyle MacQuarrie, MD, PhD - Duration: 2:48.

When I was about 16 years old, I was doing research work in a laboratory and then had

this real aha moment where I encountered someone who had an MD and a PhD and it suddenly hit

me that I could combine those two careers into one and be able to do both those things.

I was very interested in both the clinical care and the research work.

Okay.

I'm Kyle MacQuarrie.

I finished my pediatric residency at Northwestern and Lurie Children's and now I'm one of the

first year pediatric hematology oncology fellows.

I grew up outside of Boston and did undergraduate at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst

and did my MD and my PhD out in Seattle and then came here and it felt like a breath of

fresh air. Day one coming into this programming, coming into this institution,

people were there and available to talk about what do you want to do longterm and how do

you get there.

Northwestern offers the opportunity to be able to develop your career and move in

a direction that you want to go.

People care about what's happening both to the patients and to what the trainings are

going through.

What I'd really like is to be able to combine doing basic research in cancer

biology and developmental biology and taking care of children who have pediatric cancer.

My interest is in the relationship between how normal cells develop, how normal cells

grow, and how that goes awry and pediatric cancer.

If we understand what's occurred, we can try to find a better answer to who gets cancer

when they're a child and why and try to find new ways to treat it.

My biggest interest is in sarcomas, which are pediatric cancers of solid tissue.

Having people who are well versed in research and in science is going to be really necessary

to be able to provide good patient care as we go forward because families are going to

be looking for clinicians to be able to understand what this is and what's occurring.

Maybe a giraffe.

I just love going to work and having the privilege to work with kids each day.

You just really can't be fake when you're treating children, and so you just have to

interact with them naturally.

Those children respond very well to that and I am certainly not above using videos of my

dogs to get in there with some of the kids.

You work very hard as a clinician.

Both physicians and scientists work very hard.

It's always fantastic for me to be able to leave the hospital and head home to my husband

and our two dogs.

You can absolutely have a life while you're in training here at Northwestern.

Why I Began Liking President Donald J. Trump - Duration: 7:18.

Arnold Schwarzenegger in California is one thing... Barack Obama is one thing... but

Donald Trump in the White House? Wha? This is crazy! When President Donald

Trump won, I woke up in my bed and there was a sense of peace that came over me. I

mean a peace that I could not even explain. God began to give me certain

words I tweeted them on Twitter. Follow Me @LoveKeilahJ BTW lol... No push. But I began to

understand that that peace did not come from me. This man (Donald Trump) that the whole, well not the

whole country apparently but a lot of the country was against was now in the

office. And to be honest with you, I wasn't really leaning towards either

candidate but this was kind of shocking. I want you to think about the deeds that

you have done that weren't so cute. The actions that you have said that weren't

all honorable... some of the things and the people and the mistakes that you may

have gone through that you don't want anybody else to know about, and I want

you to look at yourself right now. Even though you may not be all the way over

here, you've come to a point where you've made some huge steps of transformation

only by God's grace. And I want you to ask yourself am I different from the

president Donald Trump? ESPECIALLY if a whole nation, or if a group of people

decide to pray and intercede? Well this man did this! And how could he do this! and

do you see and how could y'all stand up for Donald Trump?! And this peace, I knew that

this peace had to come from God and I knew that there was a deeper revelation

about this president. And I know that some people are like I didn't feel that

peace (lol). I didn't wake up... I don't know about you girl but I don't have that

peace... I think this video may help because once we really seek God and are

in the heart and the Spirit of God and say God

a lot of this world a lot of stuff we don't understand like why are they still

murdering children in the womb?!!!?? Why are they still allowing guns you know to

eighteen-year-olds??! A lot of this world we don't understand and I think this is

just a part of it we have to say ... God let me surrender to You because I know in my

own strength things are still happening that are outside of my control. In this

video I believe it's going to help you to finally have the tools

the bravery and the belief to say... this may not make sense but I'm gonna trust God!

God is very specific about this and He says and His word that if we

pray for the heart then their hearts will be swayed to the heart of God

and if we believe that we are people of faith and if we believe that and that

means that if we pray if we pray sincerely when we pray consistently and

as a body collectively then that man's heart will be submitted to Christ. We

have a responsibility to say okay let me listen to my father let me listen to my

Holy Spirit and let me get a sense let me get a pulse of what the Holy Spirit is

saying and let me respond like that. Because if you're responding any other

way that's reacting to the things that you're hearing that you're seeing in

this natural in this physical world then it's not the way that God desires for

you to respond. How are y'all saying that this man can be this this kind of president

and that God is for him but I see this. But God said no I need you to see me I

need you to see my perspective. And so it's all about your perspective it's all

about what you see and what you're deciding to see what you're deciding to

hear and it is a blessing for God for those who will listen to Him and

humble themselves and pray for our president in office because there was a

revival coming to this land you are a part of it and the president is gonna

have such a huge impact about providing the space for the grace that God has

already provided on the land. #SpacefortheGrave that God has already

provided on this land. What other areas are you focusing on that God wants you

to gain a different perspective on? Are you focusing on what's in front

of you or are you focusing on the truth about your situation?

Because this is why we've been in such a predicament in our lives because we

think that we know more than God we think that we can do a better job than

God can at this world when he created this world and so I need us to pray and

gain God's perspective on this... Heavenly Father we thank you so much

for your son president Donald J Trump we thank you God that he is put in position

God to honor you thank you God that there are people watching this video

right now that may be a little heartbroken from this video they may be

a little torn up they may be a little sad and maybe a little confused

discombobulated Father and I pray that you would comfort them Father and let them know

that you are in control let them know that there is nothing that goes past

your sight goes past your knowledge Father that you don't know about and I

pray God that you would soften their hearts God to creep in and to allow them

God to humble themselves and to come to you to seek you Father and to gain you

perspective and your wisdom instead of putting their own thoughts in your mind

Jesus I pray that you would allow them to gain a wisdom mindset, a wisdom

perspective that comes from only You and only you above Father I thank you Jesus

that you are gaining back God the authority that belongs to You on this

earth Father through the most unexpected ways God through the most unseen ways God

and you're using us God your involving us God you're equipping us to do that Father we

are your vessels God to manifest your glory here on earth and we declare right

now that we will no longer be a stopping point because of our own feelings

because of our own actions because of our own thoughts but we will allow your

wisdom to overtake ours we will allow your thoughts to overtake ours we will

allow your your everything your feelings to overtake ours and father and we will

QA1 C10 Full Vehicle Suspension Upgrade - Duration: 5:15.

Hey everyone, Dave Kass here with QA1, here to show you our C10 suspension

system. This chassis, we painted this white to really highlight and show the

components that we can help you with. If you have a two-wheel drive C10 or a GMC,

on the front we have here is we have an option to convert your truck to a full

coil over setup. So with the minimal modification you can take your truck,

bolt in an upper and lower control arm set up with a bracket that allows you to

go to a full coil-over. If you don't want to go all over, that's fine because we do

have an option for a traditional style drop spring, which is nice. On the

coil-over set up you have the option to go from your stock height all the way down

to about two and a half inches lower and then if you use a drop spindle you have

options to go all the way up to five inches. So this setup right now as it sits you're

sitting about five inches lower. Now it's a full tubular design on the control

arms. It gives you seven degrees of caster and the caster gain took your

truck from what was about one degree of caster, like mine had my 72 had for

instance, and brings it to seven. The drivability is greatly enhanced. So just

driving the truck is just so much more enjoyment with it. It handles much better.

Better straight line stability. You're not chasing the wheel as much as you once

were. So just that change alone by doing the upper and lower control arms just

major drivability enhancements. Not to mention when you pair it with a nice

shock and spring, like we have here with the QA1 setup, it just brings it into the

modern day age, which is awesome. Pair that with the QA1 sway bar and you

have a truck here now that's doing things a truck should not do while

riding as good as it does. Now this spindle that we designed the system to work

with is for your square body spindles. So your 73 to 87 spindles and

that's because your earlier trucks were mostly drum and there's some different

ball joint changes and whatnot. So most of the time if you're going to go forth and

do a nice suspension setup like this, you're gonna be going to a disc style

front brake setup. So if you're gonna be changing your brakes make sure you go to

a square body 73 to 87 spindle. Moving to the back what we have here is we have an

option to go with a full tubular style trailing arm with a really nice

integrated pinion angle adjustment so you can change your pinion angle

depending on what bride height you want. Or you have options to go with your

stock truck arm but still get the benefits of having a coil over. Now, all

of the coil-over systems, whether you do the stock truck arm or you do the full

tubular truck arm options, allow you to go to a full length panhard bar system.

As most of you know, these trucks came with a panhard bar that is about this long.

Truthfully it went from one frame rail to the pumpkin. It was really, really

short. And so, as such, when you lower these trucks down and you really throw

the car or the truck hard into a corner it can pull that axle off center. So

we've done there is we've made sure to address that issue and incorporated that

longer panhard bar right into the system right from the get-go. The coil-overs are

mounted on the outside of the frame rails, which is really important. So the

widest we could go while still allowing a big tire to be put on the back of these

vehicles, so that you have better stability as you get drive these trucks,

throw them into a corner, have fun with them. And also, we have an option for a

rear sway bar. So again, depending on how far you want to take your truck, if it's

going to be more of a driver, or if it's going to be more of a competitive type of setup

you do have those options. Now our full tubular version that we have here is

also really nice because we built into our upper bracket for the coil-over mount

an integrated C-notch. So, simple cut there in the frame and you have the

capability of going up to six inches lower than stock so you can really get

this truck down on the ground, get that wheel in the wheel well, where you want

it, and it's just a really nice setup. So it will work with the 12 bolt system

like you would traditionally have these trucks, it also does work with the nine

inches as long as you take your your truck arm saddle that's on your axle and

make sure that's relocated to the same spot. And one thing that's also really nice

is we built this system around a truck that had a rear-mounted gas tank. As most of

you know, these trucks right from the factory had the gas tank right behind

the seat. And for weight distribution, safety, and other reasons almost

everybody's me looking to move the tank towards the rear. And one of the nicest

features, all of this can be installed with the bed of the truck on. Now,

for display purposes, of course, the bed is not on this chassis, but for someone in their

garage on a Saturday afternoon, you don't have to go find four or five

people to help you lift the bed off, and find a place to store it. You can install

this system with the bed on it. So very very straightforward. Very, very easy to

do. And, you know, we took a lot of time and effort thinking about our packaging

to make this a system that you could bolt in your truck on a Saturday afternoon and

completely and totally change how it drives, rides, and handles. So, for more

information on this make sure to check out our website, QA1.net. Check out our

social media pages, through Twitter through Instagram, through Facebook.

And, any questions on the kit make sure to call our tech line.
