Hi. I am Rafa Marrodán, Fujifilm X photographer,
photographer of the MotoGP World Championship,
specialized in action and sports photography.
For the past two years, I have been working
with Fujifilm equipment, both cameras and lenses
and this time it was the turn of the brand new GFX 50 S,
a medium-format camera that we have been working with
for the last two months in our area of work:
the MotoGP World Championship.
Fujifilm GFX is a medium-format camera
that is not designed for sports photography.
However, given its technical potential and with enough imagination
on the part of the photographer, we will most certainly obtain
images that are sharp, full of color, and absolutely satisfactory.
Where our GFX shows all its potential
is portraying faces, gestures and emotions, both at the starting grid and in the boxes,
which is where most of the activity in this sport is concentrated.
We are talking about Honda,
the leading brand in all technological aspects
after many, many years in competition and also on a commercial level.
What it gives you is the guarantee and security
that it is a motorcycle with maximum precision,
that does not tend to break down,
that is usually technologically perfect, very evolved and, well,
in the end, that's what we're talking about,
that it is a winning bet to have Honda in our ranks,
in our house; it's a guarantee of success.
Honda is a brand that always seeks to obtain the maximum.
At technical level, it is a brand
that has been doing research for many years,
developing very high-quality products.
It strives, above all, for performance, quality
and to ensure that things last and stand up over time.
It achieves this through quality.
With the racers, it's different. A racer is not a machine,
but the Japanese riders, in their world they also try for it
like everything in Japanese culture,
which is a culture that by definition strives for excellence in things.
They strive for it probably with more zeal than other cultures,
as those of us know who have spent a lot of time in Japan
and who know the culture and the Japanese people.
When Fujifilm Spain proposed to me the possibility of working
with a medium-format camera, specifically, the GFX 50S,
in my work on the circuits, I immediately accepted the challenge.
It was very interesting to see how we would work with a camera
that has a sensor of a similar size,
and is capable of delivering 50 megapixel images.
When we work at the starting grid, it's essential not to bother the riders
or the people working there.
Its folding screen makes it much easier to work
in the midst of so many photographers, mechanics, riders, guests
and especially when we're working in the starting grid,
where we mustn't bother the people working,
and obviously, the riders with our equipment.
Besides, these riders are often kids.
For us, the result has been entirely satisfactory.
This equipment provides files of more than 50 megapixels
with a sharpness, a quality and details that are absolutely impossible
for other cameras of this same type.
A medium-format camera has a place and makes sense on a circuit.
From now on, it will be one of my work tools.

On the other side is the charm of the lush green farm and fields
Amidst the widespread lake is the shining Jaina Basadi.
The image of the floating temple in the water is bedecked by the lotus flowers
The name of this rare and beautiful sacred place holding divine power is 'Varanga'
Varanga lies in the Karkala Taluk of Udupi district
There are 3 ancient basadis in Varanga
. Of them, the Chandranatha Basadi and Neminatha Basadi lie on the bank of the lake
and the Chaturmukha Basadi, well-known as Kere Basadi
stands firm amidst the 14 acre stretch of lake filled to its brim
As we sail on the boat and stand on the steps of the Kere Basadi
we get a pleasant sight of the surrounding waters
Another specialty is that the priest itself rides the boat that sails towards the temple.
The murtis housed in this temple belong to 12th century
and this Basadi too was built during the same time
The legend is that the lake was constructed by Alupa Queen Jakali Devi
Surprisingly the lake's water does not dry anytime of the year
The beauty of the fish which has made this waterbody its home is pleasant.
It is believed that the Neminatha Basadi was built around1200 years ago by a king named Varanga Raaya
Neminatha Tirtankara is worshipped as the main deity of this village
Nearby the temple is a manasthambha (column of honor/wish-pillar) which is about 45 feet tall.
Varanga is a small village about 25 km away from Karkala on the Karkala-Hebri road.
There are bus services from the towns of Karkala and Hebri
