Happy New Year! Yeah!
It's funky here!
My New Year's Eve in Kyoto
30 december
Near Kyoto station
there's a little ikebana-exposition...
because there's this year a kind of contest out here...
this month actually, made especially for this period...
the most beautiful were chosen and placed in Kyoto.
Waw! Did you make this?
Yes, how is it?
It's really beautiful!
I'm on my way to visit a friend...
who works in a guesthouse.
It is the first guesthouse where I stayed...
when I arrived in Kyoto for the first time...
And from that day, all the people who works there...
became really big friends.
And now...
I'm going to make a little surprise to one of them...
I really don't know who's working today...
So it will be a surprise for this person and also for me.
Since we're today the 30th of december...
will it be a special "end of the year" surprise.
I tried to be a stalker for one second...
just to see who was working today...
and the person who's working today is Emiko.
So it will be a surprise for my friend Emiko.
I'm back home!
*What are doing here?*
*Welcome home*
How are you?
*I'm good*
*Welcome hoooome*
What's happen?
*What?*
Is there something?
*No, I just was suprised...*
*IBecause I didn't knowr*
So that was the meaning of a surprise...
I'm very prouf of it!
Because I played my role like an actor (begining)...
We have been able to talk a lot in the meantime.
*Tomorrow...*
*I don't know if Emi will be able to come...*
*But we are organizing a New Year's party here...*
Yeah I know! But tomorrow I'll go to a concert...
*What kind of?*
I really don't know...
*A heavy-metal concert?*
I'm going with Emi... but I really don't know what kind...
*Really?*
Of course!
*Sounds good*
Until what time will your party continue?
*Huuum, yeah...*
*We're going to eat here with everyone...*
*Welcome home* (customer coming back the GH)
*So first we are going to eat...*
*and...*
*then celebrate new year...*
*After that we're going to the temple...*
Which one?
*Near here...*
*The Fushimi Inari...*
*Do you see the main temple... the big one...*
*But since there are too many people there...*
*It is really impossible to get in there...*
Yeah
*We'll go to the little ones...*
At night?
*Yeah around midnight...*
Is it inhabited there? (by spirits)
Are there some?
*Be carefull! There are!*
31 december
Good evening!
Today we are the 31st and...
and on the 31st everybody is partying, like you know.
No exception for Japan.
So it seems that tonight I will be very busy...
It's now 8pm and there's a pre party in the "J-Hoppers"...
a guesthouse located in Kyoto
that I already introduced. (previous video)
So guys, today will be a very long day...
maybe the most long of my life...
I'm already tired because of yesterday...
I didn't sleep a lot...
I'll not tell what happens, that's a secret!
But it seems that I'll also not sleep a lot tonight...
because the schedule looks hard...
I don't know what we're going to actually but I know...
I'll probably be in my bed at 5am or something...
So my evening begins here, at the J-Hoppers.
With an improvised party...
Not improvised actually...
very well organized actually...
I wanted to let it know for your information guys...
And there is a special buffet there...
which is "halal".
Not really halal but...
there will be fish.
So I'll be able to eat...
because I promised...
with all my soul...
that I'll participate...
because I was in Japan...
and so now I am present... as promised!
I came with my friend... Emi...
who you can see on the Kyoto episode... (previosly)
and the evening will end with a visit of a temple.
What all the Japanese people do on January the 1st...
to bring good luck for the new year.
I'm really not motivated to do it at night...
but yes, I will do it for the experience...
andto see beautiful things here in Japan.
I hope it will be fun.
Emiko, what are you doing?
*Soba*
Soda?
*Nee, soba...*
Ah soba...
*But I'm not cooking... I'm just finishing the setup*
*Because I can 't cook such things as noodles...*
This is a naruto, right?
*Cute, right?*
*The red one and the white one...*
Wat is het verschil?
What's the difference?
*The colourr*
What?
*Only the colour.*
Really?!
*Look how soup there is...*
It's black?!
*Yeah, this a black one...*
You're good at cooking, right...?
*No, totally not!*
*It looks like a cushion...*
So soft...
*Yeah*
*It's seaweed actually*
What?
*Seewead*
Siwid? (seaweed)
*You know, all the sea herbs etc...*
Ah!
*That kind of product.*
*If you add this to the soup...*
*Take a look...*
Cute...
*Right?!...*
*So if you add this to the soup...*
*There is suddenly a lot of foam in the pot...*
*That's the reason why we call this"foam"*
It looks like... weed from Holland...
*Yeah, that's right bro*
*It's a fresh one*
*Especially for the today's party...*
Is it tasty?
*Yes*
No, no! I want to hear the truth...
*Just one second then*
Really?
*It's tasty*
Let's try...
*The sake workout..*
*Waw impressive!*
*The sake of today comes from the Mister right here...*
*Thank you very much!*
Emiko...
*What?*
You cook really well...
it was good.
*Yeah the shop did all the job...*
No, really! I'm serious...
*Thanks*
The sequel continues in an underground bar...
where there's a live concert right now.
So there're artists who come to play their music
and introduce it to the people.
And a friend of a friend plays tonight ...
that's why we came.
*Next year...*
*Not reallt fo now but... next year...*
*In June...*
*That's far man...*
*From the 4th to the 8th...*
*8th included?*
*Of course*
*It will be a friday night...*
*Yes*
*So friday night the 8th...*
*In this bar... (the Modern Times)*
*My live... this of Tatsuya Matsuda...*
*I'll play my favorite song for the 3rd time...*
*"Called the sweet idiot...*
*For the last song of today...*
*I would like everyone to participate...*
*You can just clap with your hands if you want...*
*Thank you everyone!*
*Let's go...*
*Thank you!*

*I love you guys!*
*???*

*Thank you!*
So now, we are in 2018...
and a little kind of game will begin soon here...
we're going to make some "mochi"...
made of rice.
I really don't know all the ingredients...
and I never had the chance to make it...
and apparently it is fun to do.
The pot behind me is apparently very heavy...
and it is impossible to move it alone...
That is why everyone is helping.
During the ritual of the "Mochtsuki" (on January the 1st)
"mochi" is eaten and "amazed" is drunk.
It will start in a few minutes.
Body posture is very important and really complicated.
The dominant foot is positioned forward
which cause an imbalance in the movement.
So I made mochi for the 200 people of the bar...
I really did it with my soul and heart...
It was really exhausting!
The glove is...
*Insert me, insert me...*
*Look at my face...*
*What are you doing?*
*What's that?*
*I'm Tatsuya...*
Yes, I know because of the "Tatsuya" pose earlier...
*I'm drunk right now... yeah*
Yeah I see...
*I'm drunk...*
*I'm drunk now...*
That's why...
*I have a dream*
*It's...*
*I huge...*
*I want a lot of kids...
*I want kids...*
*I want kids... a lot*
*Prett, pretty, pretty, nice, pretty... yeah!*
*My dream will become to true*
*Baby!*
Are you all right?
Are you okay?
*Okay, okay! I'm good*
*No problem! No problem!*
It is now at 00:30 the people are making mochi...
that's completely normal here.
2018 starts here very well!
*Thank you very much for coming!*
Thanks everyone!
See you next time!
*Thanks man!*
Thanks!
We just left the bar...
And now we're going to do the annual prayer...
that all the Japanese people do on January 1st.
And thus, there are many people outside...
Now we are in Gion...
And since it's the first day of the year...
the roads were closed for the cars.
Thanks to this we can walk around everywhere...
We actually had to go to the Yasaka temple...
but there were too many people.
And so now I follow my 2 guides...
who take me to another temple...
where there are fewer people.
Since it's very late...
and we have other plans...
we're just going to another temple.
Because we have to return home at a certain moment...
The prayer is done...
and from now, we'll go back home
because everyone is tired here...
that's so why we have to rest (especially me).
So it was a great evening...
I wanted to let you know.
I have been able to meet a crazy guy...
I have been able to do crazy things.
It was really a new year's eve that I will never forget...
because I have been able to do a lot of things...
and I really didn't know that it was possible.
To finish, I wish you a happy new year...
and so, this is the video of this episode in Kyoto...
Merry Christmas...
and a... Happy new year!
I hope you really liked it...
don't forget to subscribe to the channel...
and to follow me through social media...
See you!
