FireBeetle ESP32 Review - Duration: 3:12.
hey guys Ravi here and this is the ESP32 firebeetle
board from DFrobot.com this is a development board much like an
arduino that penny sized chip that you see that's the ESP 32 chip that contains
Wi-Fi 802.11 bluetooth 4.2 and a ton of feature packed io but this video is
not about this chip it's about the board built around it I have been playing with
the firebeetle board for a few weeks now and here's my review of it open
disclaimer the firebeetle board and the expansion shield were sent to me by DF
robot.com for free but the views and opinions presented in this video are my
own overall the board is really good as good as any other arduino board
that I have used over the years it is noticeably larger than the popular
arduino nano but smaller than the uno it's solidly built the white text on the
black PCB looks great the solder joints are clean and the microUSB port doesn't
flex the board came well packaged and with the option of male or female
headers where I did a horrible job of soldering speaking of GPIO pins here are
the ones that firebeetle expands and here are the ones it doesn't expand pin
32 and 33 which are supposed to be touch inputs
hence out of the ten capacitive touch inputs of ESP 32 only eight are
available of which pin zero and two don't work because of some software
issue so only six touch inputs can be used all the other functions and pins
work seamlessly speaking of pins they are only marked on
the bottom of the board and not on the top which gets very annoying at times
in a similar vein of strange unavailability the official board
manager link doesn't work but the ESP 32 arduino page on github does have
the firebeetle support other than these few nitpicks the board works great there
are no strange driver issues the code uploads seamlessly every time it's
reliable and pretty easy to tinker with the battery support is a big plus it
charges the li-po when plugged into USB it also has low voltage protection for
the batteries so you don't need to worry about that on the topic
of bonuses I got sent this expansion shield along with the board it
thankfully marks the pins on the top and also gives you way more pins to work
with but more importantly it works nicely with DF robots gravity range of
products which is an extensive list of sensors and extensions in conclusion
aside from a few little annoyances the board works great I hope that they
release a version 2 of this board with the pins marked on top and a more
extensive shield support but would I recommend it as the microcontroller for
your next project as noted on their website the support for ESP32 is still
under development and the board is recommended only for experienced

I'm Filipi and we are now beginning our second class
Actually it's the second part of our first class
This one will be a quick one I just need to show you guys just a little more
Do you remember that we only had a POCKET and a TEXT?
Well, now we are going to play with our POCKET
In this video I'll show you, buddies, how to do operations
and what we can do to show that our pocket has something
On the last video we created a variable POCKET and another variable TEXT
TEXT used to contain "This is our first text"
But as we are going to modify POCKET and work with the concept of money
I change the content of TEXT to "This is my total amount of money"
We can begin typing our code saying that our POCKET is going to receive a certain amount of money
In this case we are going to work with... hm... an allowance
Each month, our POCKET will receive 20 dollars
Pay attention that I put "20" inside POCKET
Now our POCKET has "20".
This is a number
and we are going to refer to it as "20 dollars"
But we went to the store and we wanted to buy a chocolate bar
and today, the chocolate bar costs 5 dollars
So we are going to subtract from our POCKET "5"
and the result will return to our POCKET
Now we are going to add more money to our POCKET
We found some coins laying around So we found 10 dollars
So our POCKET will receive 10 dollars
To do that, we are going to add in our POCKET "10"

The method CONSOLE.LOG can receive lots of parameters
We can add texts, or variables. In this case, we are going to add a text AND a variable
So we are going to add "This is our total amount of money:" And our variable POCKET
So we can see better, I'm gonna zoom in a little bit
I'm clicking on the Debug Zone button
and hit the PLAY button
let's see what's going to happen
As we can see, our code run
We can see our first 2 "CONSOLE.LOG"
One printing "This is our first log" And the second printing "This is my total amount of money"
And at the end of our code, we added another CONSOLE.LOG, with a text and our variable
We can see that the text was printed, along side our amount of money
Let's verify it
We had 20
We lost 5 bucks because we bought the chocolate bar
Resulting in 15 bucks
And then we added 10 dollars
Resulting in 25 dollars
As we see on our debug console, everything is alright
And we can print the result every step on the way
Just copy and paste it
Let's comment our first 2 console.log
Because they don't provide any relevant information about our POCKET
Let's run it again and see what happens
That's it. First we had 20
We bought the chocolate bar, 15
Then we added 10, 25
And this is how we add operations in our javascript code
You need a VARIABLE That will receive an operation
And it don't need to be a simple one. It can be a complex operation
Like this, lets add to our POCKET 100 bucks, then subtract 5,
multiply by 30, and divide all by 10
Here we have all 4 arithmetic operations
How much will our POCKET contain?

Valerie D'Acremont's goal is to
find the cause of the fever.
There aren't many diagnostic instruments here.
If a child has a fever they prescribe antibiotics right away.
Around 90% of the children leave this hospital with antibiotics -
that's a huge number!
To prevent this type of unnecessary treatment
the doctor works with tools she's developed herself:
rapid blood tests and tablets.
We used blood tests to find out
what the causes of the fever are if it's not malaria.
Based on these findings we developed an algorithm
which helps doctors to find the right treatment for fever.
This software for the tablet guides the doctors step by step.
The tablet shows the specialist
which tests to carry out in a given situation.
The test results are entered, and the tablet shows
which treatment makes sense.
With her research D'Acremont has shown
that fever in Tanzania is often not caused by bacteria
or malaria - but instead is viral.
Treatment with antibiotics or anti-malaria medicines
is therefore often superfluous.
This finding is very important
because too many antibiotics are used in Africa,
and this gives rise to resistance to antibiotics.
One of the biggest medical problems in the world.
Thanks to the researcher's work, the use of antibiotics
in Tanzania has already been greatly reduced.
She lived in Tanzania for three years and always enjoys returning.
This is where my work has a meaning.
After a few months in Switzerland
the work becomes rather abstract.

Tasty SEAFOOD FEAST in Melaka- Sea snails, clams + MORE | Food and Travel Channel | Malaysia - Duration: 11:42.
Hi I'm Thomas and I'm Sheena and we're Chasing a Plate
today we're in Melaka, Malaysia, Melaka is on the coast of Malaysia and so it's
time to indulge in a gigantic seafood feast we're going to be making two stops
tonight the first stop is for some fresh shellfish at a really local spot and
then secondly we're going to head off to the Portuguese settlement to eat some
Portuguese style seafood, we're starving, let's eat!
We've come to this little lane which is known as 'Cockle Lane'
to the locals and there are a couple of vendors here who are just selling really fresh shellfish
so there are all sorts of things, there are mussels, there are cockles, there are clams there are snails
and this is as fresh as fresh gets because the shellfish is trying to make an escape
as we speak. It's really funny! We have ordered some
lala which are clams and some snails which are called siput and also a
dish they're quite well known for sotong kangkung, kangkung is also
known as water spinach or Morning Glory so we are excited this all looks
so good and so fresh.
I'm gonna dive in and try a lala or a clam you'll see
lala in a lot of dishes here in Malaysia but we've never tried them just
like this by themselves but what they also come with is some sort of sauce
looks like peanuts, maybe some garlic, there's some chilli sauce or some sambal and
something dark I'm not sure what that is remember always when we come to these
places directions down below so you know where we are and so check those out, find
these places for yourself because they're so fun we're sitting on
these tiny stools so so good and don't forget to subscribe while you're down
there cos that really helps us out and we can really grow the channel with your
help and it really is amazing for us let's see how amazing these lalas are
wow it's so soft they've just been steamed open and they've
taken them out just as they've opened I'd say because they're really really soft
they're not chewy at all. That sauce is spicy, sweet, peanuts have it's not really a crunch
but gives it a texture this is super good and the environment is amazing I
love this sort of thing like eating right on the street on a tiny stool it's
kinda reminding me of Vietnam at this point like the way this lane is and the
way these stools are it feels really Vietnamese but the food tastes
really Malaysian super good.
The sotong kangkung has arrived and it looks great so it's the
sotong which is the boiled squid there's peanuts sprinkled all over the top I can see
some fresh cucumber, there's the Morning Glory or kangjung and then there's some sambal
on the side or chilli sauce I'm gonna give it a big mix-up and then try some
of that squid or stong as well as the green vegetable
Wow so many different flavours going on the
squid is actually really really soft, really tender and you're you've got
the crunch from the cucumber and also a real bit of bite from the
vegetables the peanuts add a real sweetness and earthiness and then
that chilli sauce really packs a punch
this is a great accompaniment to the shellfish.
I'm gonna try these sea snails or balitong
we got the name wrong before we were talking about the big snails these
look look at those things but we've ordered the much smaller ones it's
so cool how all the food is lined up in front of you here on the table lets crab
one of these little guys I have no idea how to get these out we have had them
once before and you have to suck them out but I think you might get these out
with a fork no this that's definitely not gonna work
my fork doesn't even fit and the bit just sort of falls off let's go with the
the sucking technique we'll give it a stab
a little bit came out, no that's not working either I'll try my
fork, nope that's pushed it back in
mmm I got it yes, now how do I get the sauce? I'll put
some sauce on my pork hmm really chewy but not it's not like rubber chewy. It's
got chew but then it actually dissolves really nice just flavour I've had in
France I've had escargot it's got the same texture and sort of taste to that but a
much more salty sea based flavour
they're really tasty hard work to get out but practice makes perfect so we'll keep trying.
That was so delicious and such a cool experience, I sort of felt a little bit mean
towards the end because the little snail kept trying to make an escape
I felt a little bit sadistic eating his friends in front of him
but they were still tasty. Very good. Second stop Portuguese Settlement let's go
we've arrived at the Portuguese Settlement and our spread has been delivered
so it's really famous here for seafood so we have ordered a whole
snapper which is covered in a thick deep red sauce looks really good we've got
some butter garlic prawns and we've ordered some vegetables to go with that so we
haven't gone crazy but we've just got a good spread this fish has been
butterflied so like I said it's a snapper it's been butterflied open laid
on this thing steamed it's on a banana leaf on foil so it's been baked on
there I think not steamed- baked covered in this sauce it just looks so
tender I've already got some on my plate and it's just broken apart so easily
before I have the fish I want to try the sauce because it's a brilliant texture
and looks like it's gonna be packed with flavour
it's full of lemongrass really strong in lemongrass and it
tastes like a like a red curry or like otak otak which is a steamed or grilled
fish curry here which goes sort of jelly like you have it here, in Thailand and
Indonesia, Singapore you'll find otak otak, that's what that sauce tastes like but
obviously in liquid form not in hard form that is really really good I'm gonna
grab some of the fish because it's just begging to be eaten oh and there's a
little bit of spice it's just caught in my throat a little
bit of a bone I'll just get rid of that argh I got another bone
hmm oh so good so I got white rice that sauce has just soaked the rice the fish is
absolutely perfect falls apart in your mouth and that sauce works so well with
that fish.
I'm gonna start with these butter garlic prawns they smell so good
so they've used like that fried garlic so it's almost like a crunchy well it is a
crunchy topping, there's some curry leaves and then the prawns are glistening with
this butter they look so good they still have their shell on them so I'm just gonna
rip into that there's that prawn head I love a good prawn head especially
sucking the head oil out of it so good
ohhh that's so delicious because the flesh just comes away and
then when you bite into it all that butter just bursts in your mouth that is so
delicious and that garlic flavour is really really, really prominent as well I'm just gonna rip
the shell off, it's quite easy to pull off and then give that a big bite. So I just ate some of the prawn
legs and they're really crispy and they're not chewy so you can eat the shell
that's perfectly cooked it's not chewy it's not stodgy it's really crisp and
that butter garlic flavour is so beautiful like anything with butter and
garlic right? I really love seafood some of our best travel memories are tied up
with eating seafood like on the beach in Thailand fresh fish just caught minutes
before walking around seafood markets in Japan, what are your favourite

We're ripping into the
seafood the fish is pretty much all devoured the prawns have gone we're
ripping into the head the last little bits of meat are on the head really good I'm
loving the fish it's so fresh and we came to this particular stall because we
heard the family has run the business for a long time so the daughter runs it
now but the dad prior to that and the family are fishermen so the fish is super
fresh they catch their own fish and then cook it for their restaurant so you
cannot get fresher than that and it really shows, the quality of fish is so
high. But over all the place like the whole area we're in it feels a little bit
touristy it's not quite the normal sort of place we go so the food itself is
really good but the sort of the atmosphere here isn't quite doing it for
me maybe on a on a Friday or Saturday night this place would be raging and
full of people tonight it's a Tuesday or a Monday I think so it's not so busy where
we were earlier for the in the lane having the shellfish
that was really fun and buzzy this just feels a little bit placid and not quite
our thing but the food quality is still really high so we've got some last
scraps that we're gonna finish up,
All the seafood we've had tonight was really
delicious, this fish was top-notch the clams
and snails at Cockle Lane at our first stop were magic that was so fun there
so fun, it's been another great food hunting day in Melaka remember if you

a total success!

[Steve] Unfortunately, this video doesn't really convey what the eclipse was like.
The luminous strands of cotton candy surrounding a pit of infinite darkness
that I saw just can't be captured with a single exposure.
And then, you add video compression on top of that?
It really is something that needs to be seen in order to be appreciated.
[Joanna] If you missed it, don't worry.
While many were calling this a 'once in a lifetime event,' there will be others.
You can always travel to Chile or Argentina for the 2019 eclipse
or you can wait until 2024 for the next one to pass through the U.S.
And it really isn't too early to start planning for it...
