Hey guys, here at the Ev Go charger in some place Massachusetts and doing a
fast charge for free. I got down to 19% that's been the lowest I've let the
battery get yet then keeping an eye on the reported battery capacity the state
of charge in leaf spy and on the dashboard there definitely seems to be a
difference and that difference increases as the battery state of charge decreases
LeafSpy 31%
21% now that the battery is back up LeafSpy says 72.8 and dashboard says 70
This is only my second time using the Nissan no charge the charge card but this is my
second time also using an an EV Go and even though the charger said I had an
hour remaining I seem to be limited to 30 minute sessions so I was only able
to charge 19 point three nine nine kilowatts at first I didn't think it was
gonna be as great of a difference as it turned out to be but people did report a
10% 15% difference you know now that I'm down to 19 percent on according to the
dashboard there is that 10 percent difference so that's pretty interesting
I'm guessing it's probably just something to so when you do get down to
zero percent you still have some reserve to limp home and get to a charger or
something like that with my driving style and my commute I'm easily able to
get a full week on a on a full charge of going to work and back so that's been
pretty convenient the cap at the battery capacity to do that I mean most people
would only fill up the car once a week or or something like that anyway
somebody had commented on reading the manual for the steering assist disabling
with the blinker so thanks for that it does say that in the manual
so now that I've been driving this car for a month what are some of the things
that I don't like about it from the previous models of leaf the bag that you
get with the evse it looks like it used to be a much nicer bag and now it's kind
of just a little thin fabric thing that you can throw the cable into it's cheap
they're trying to save money I don't know
rearview visibility it's not that great that's about what it looks like from my
point of view I took out one of the rear seat head cushions just so you could get
an idea but you don't really see a whole lot from here.
Fluctuation of the temperature of the heated steering wheel
I mean it's wintertime I'm not wearing gloves seems like the heat is not
dispersed evenly across the steering wheel from what I read in the manual it
turns off the heater on the steering wheel when the surface of the steering
wheel gets to 68 degrees Fahrenheit so I guess as a heats up it gets to that
temperature and turns off but then it cools down it's not consistent the
steering wheel I've noticed when I meant low speeds and I'm doing a very kind of
sharp turn maybe pulling into a parking space or going around a corner in a
garage the wheel actually makes a squeak sound I haven't been able to capture
that on camera because I've been driving when I'm doing it you turn it most of
the way and when you let it go when it turns back you hear a squeak I heard
about that in the previous versions of leaf it's kind of annoying I've never
had that happen in a car before I still wish there was a way that I could tell
if the brake lights were coming on or not it seems like comparing this car to
my previous car that people tend to tailgate me a lot closer and a lot more
frequently than they used to I think it has something to do with people I
I don't know what it has to do with I've noticed that people definitely tailgate
me more in this car than my previous car and it's not like there's nobody in
front of me so I can't go anywhere so I've got this ODB to table kind of
hanging down here I need to do something better about that
basically I have it on this switch so I can turn the the reader that I have on
and off without having to continuously plug and unplug the cable those are kind
of delicate connectors and I don't want to risk breaking it so having a switch
is definitely a nice thing I'm trying to figure out a way that I can mount this
more permanently this switch is kind of curved and
there's not really a good surface I thought about mounting it right here
the way the cable is this part is kind of short so I don't know if I needed a
different cable or just get more creative with places to mount it but
that's kind of what I'm working with here I like having the switch that way I
won't forget to turn it off or well as long as you don't forget to turn it off
you're you're not gonna kill your battery I got this old cell phone here
took the SIM card out just using it as the wireless to connect to the ODB to
censor everyone's got old cellphones sitting around in a drawer taking up
space not doing anything if you connect to this via wireless then
basically your phone can't do maps and stuff like that so I'd rather have just
a dedicated thing that will connect to it while I can use my phone on the LTE
network so that it can maintain having connectivity not sure if you can see
this or not air coming off of this fast charger I'm not sure if it's visible on
camera but it's like you can definitely see the temperature difference I wish I
brought my temperature reader so those are my updates and the five things that
I don't like about the 2018 Nissan Leaf here's the best eco drive report I've
been able to get so far if you guys can beat that I'd like to hear about it in
the comments see you next time
