Wouldn't it be great If you could use the same headphones that you normally use when
you're listening to music to record 3D audio?
Well that's exactly what we did The Sennheiser's Ambeo headset.
The band that you just heard recorded was Cover Story.
Which is an amazing a capella group with an upright bass player.
And we actually use the headphones I was wearing the Sennheiser Ambeos to record that performance
in 3D.
As I was turning, I'm sure you could hear how the song was changing in terms of perspective.
That's because the Sennheisers were picking up each person's voice, every time I rotated.
It's called binaural recording and essentially the Sennheiser will record the audio that
you're listening to from your perspective.
The AMBEO headphones are actually really cool.
You can wear them if you're just listening to regular music anything that you have in
your smartphone or any other music player you might be listening to and it's a regular
stereo headset.
But when you use them to record, they record in 3D using the AMBEO technology.
The AMBEO also have a feature called transparent hearing which lets you dial-in an outside noise, so
you're not completely closed off from the world around you.
In addition to the 3 microphones that capture 3D sound, there's an inline mic for making
phone calls or for using voice commands with your smartphone.
Recording the AMBEO is actually really easy, all you do is plug them into your smartphone
or any iOS device.
Open any app that records audio/video or both and the app will know to use the AMBEO for
the microphones.
It's that easy.
Sennheiser also teamed with Apogee to create the preamp, the A/D conversion and the soft
limit function.
Although there's only currently an iOS compatible model of headphones, Sennheiser is working
on an Android version.
You should check their website for updates.
This is "AB" from B&H, thanks so much for watching!
See you next time.
