Number 9 Abu Ghraib During the Iraq War, US armed forces took
over the Abu Ghraib prison, previously used by Saddam Hussein's regime as a center for
mass torture and executions.
Abu Ghraib continued to be used as a prison and soon began to echo its dark past.
In 2004 photos surfaced detailing the disturbing manner in which the US Army and the Central
Intelligence Agency treated its detainees.
Further reports of brutal treatment emerged included physical abuse, sodomy, rape and
murder.
Manadel al-Jamadi, one of the prisoners, died after being interrogated and tortured by a
private contractor and a CIA operative.
The personnel had many 'coercive techniques' used against prisoners.
These involved sleep denial for extended periods of time, exposure to extreme heat, not providing
clothes for prisoners, exposing them to loud music and bright lights or restraining them
in stress positions for hours on end.
Detainees were regularly humiliated, beaten and terrorized.
Soldiers reportedly poured phosphoric acid on them, smeared human feces on them or tied
ropes around their genitals and dragged them across
the floor.

United Airlines Suffocates Dog, Chef Bans Vegans, National Geographic & More - Duration: 7:28.
Sup compassionate people! Welcome to Vegan News!
Tons of stories this week so let's dive right in!
National Geographic has put out
article recently; can dogs
and cats be vegan?
quote un quote. Science weighs in.
Like all of todays stories and every story we
always feature, links will be in the description
wether this is on youtube or facebook
and I highly recommend you go over and check this story out
basically their argument is
no, and they go with the
old tried and true
myth that synthetic taurine is
not the same. They do go into
speaking about Koji, a realatively new
new ingredient especially in
the pet food industry
It has never really been used but it does replicate
the texture and flavor
and a lot of the proteins of meat
that has really come to the surface recently
in the last few weeks because of what
has happened with Sonia Sae and her fennec fox
and people questioning
synthetic taurine through that and I'm pretty sure
that's why they put this article out. This idea
that synthetic taurine is different
is not bioavalable
or digestible
by cats
or fennec foxs or any
other creature that needs the taurine is
ridiculous. All cat foods whether plant based
or flesh based that
you are currently giving your cats
has synthetic taurine in it. They do this
because in the process of heating up the flesh based foods
to sterilize them
it actually destroys much of the natural
taurine that comes from the flesh
cats are already getting their
taurine from a synthetic source along with
other complete proteins
that they need and all can be plant based.
Houston Texas!
Singing *The Stars at night are
big and bright! (clapping)
deep in the heart of Texas!*
Is getting
a vegan festival that has
been huge and Canada and has been
traveling around North America
The Houston Vegandale food festival
will be on Saturday June 2nd
11 am to 7 pm
Looking through past pictures of their food and
some of the activism it looks like
a great vegfest to hit up which I'm looking
really excited about vegfest season coming up
into full swing here in another month! How about
you guys? In Cornwall England
a chef at the High Tide
Seafood Restaurant has
proposed a ban on vegans!
Now this comes on the heels of
a few other chefs in the
area saying similar on social media
because vegans had
cancelled despite them
making a whole meal for them
doing everything and then at the last minute supposedly
they cancelled and generally the response was
that has been given online is yeah
because non vegans never cancel on you
ever right? I can understand
why he's frustrated but that's kinda just part of having
a business. If you're worried about that in the future
take a deposit. Don't get angry
Don't lash out at everybody else and generalize.
Especially since veganism is the future
you better get on board man.
The Cheltenham festival in England...
had two fatalities this year
It's a horse race conducted every year in the area
and there are almost always fatalities..
as it goes with most
horse racing events. A horse named Mossback
and a horse named Report To Base...
were "humanely"
put down after
one had a fractured leg and the other
was
there were conflicting reports
they were obviously injured bad enough to be put
down. All of this for the spectacle!
And entertainment for a bunch of
rich people so they can place bets......
and gawk at these poor
animals that have been conditioned their entire lives
and it's just disgusting and awful
Annnd finally! Our story of the day
is one I'm sure most
of you have heard about. United Airlines
has apologized for
killing a passengers dog
Now
like the previous story there is conflicting information
and reports on this as well
I was hoping it would be clarified as time went on
but it's still kinda meh.
Two different things going on here.
So let's present the two stories that are
really circulating. Sometimes they're mixing
different reports and sometimes not...
In one version of events
a passenger is asked to take her
dog and stuff them in an overhead bin.
The dog barked and whined
at first the dogs guardian
refused to place the dog
in the overhead compartment
and the flight attendant continued to insist
pretty said they were going to be thrown off the plane if they didn't
and eventually the guardian gave in....
When they landed at their destination.
and opened the compartment door
the dog was dead and the guardian was upset.
In another version
of the story the guardian had the
dog in a pet carrier and the pet carrier
was too large to fit under the seat
as is the regulation for carrying
a pet on board. They must be in
a carrier and it must be able to fit under your seat
under United Airlines
guidelines. Now the flight attendant stepped
in and had similar
argument to the other story
Hi buddy. With the guardian
of the dog but it
the end she was supposed to have told
them to just leave the plane
because they weren't following regualations but instead
went along with placing the dog
in the overhead compartment which according to some
accounts the overhead compartments are sealed
and can cause suffocation.
I don't know how true that is as I'm not able to confirm
it because I don't know the exact
model of the airplane.
Now where things seem a little off
about this story; what guardian of
a pet that you consider part of your family
at what point would you stuff them in an overhead
compartment by themselves? Especially
according to many passenger
reports the dog was
barking, whining, and screaming
for their life! I'm sure they were suffocating.
So Why
would nobody do anything about that?
Why would you even do that to them to begin with?
So a lot about the story doesn't make sense
It's not United Airlines policy
to put animals in those compartments
It's the flight attendants fault
so all the backlash against United Airlines
is a little unwarranted in my opinion. They
apologized immediately. I'm pretty sure
they fired that flight attendant
and they'll probably go over this with
all employees at some point in a statement
and it's really sad that so many
in our population that are non vegan..
can be so outraged by this
but don't care about the pigs and the
chickens and the cows sometimes traveling up to
three days to get to a destination where they die with no
food no water suffocating in the summer
heat or freezing in the winter
cold. I have one more piece of information
to add on to this story that I found
out before I was about to finish the video I wanted to
throw it in quickly. The doys name was Frankie
pictured here. And the Custano family
are the ones
that were his guardian. He was a
French black bulldog. He appears
to have been a puppy or not fully
grown yet. And again it's a very sad
situation and I don't know anyone
who is a guardian of
an animal
that would stuff them in an overhead compartment like that.
They are either dumb or they
just don't care!
So that's everything guys! Thanks so much for joining me!
There's big things in the works happening
Sorry this video was a little bit late
a lot of noise going on, this house
is going to be sold very soon
and hopefully
some of the things in the works
are going to be pretty neat and uh
I'm really happy about them. I can't wait to tell you guys
It's probably going to be another month
maybe two before
I'm able to talk about all the different things
that are coming up that will change the way
things go. It
going to be for the better for this channel
me, the activism I do and
people I will work with in the future.
As always thank you guys so much
watching! I love you all!
Love your faces! See ya next
time! Love ya bye!

Of Course the Giugiaro Designed Electric Sibylla Concept Looks Sharp, But Can It Save the Planet - Duration: 4:28.
Even at age 79, Giorgetto Giugiaro is not done designing cars.
In 2015, he and his son, Fabrizio, started a design and consulting firm, GFG Style (the
initials stand for Giorgetto and Fabrizio Giugiaro), in Turin, Italy.
The company's biggest project to date was the China-sourced turbine-powered Techrules
Ren supercar.
For their newest design, however, the Giugiaros steered toward practicality with a four-door
electric four-seater called the Sibylla.
Set to make its debut at the 2018 Geneva auto show, the Sibylla concept is the result of
another partnership with a Chinese company.
This time, it's the Shanghai-based energy company Envision, which claims to own the
world's largest Energy Internet of Things (IoT) platform, EnOS, with 100 gigawatts of
global energy assets.
Envision also claims to be China's second-largest wind-turbine company.
It makes sense, then, that this concept aims not simply to be an electric vehicle, but
one that can be integrated into the electric grid.
GFG Style and Envision said in a joint press release that the Sibylla is a "breakthrough
in embedding the car into a larger energy system," but details are scant beyond a
general ideology that sees a car not just as transportation but as a portable energy
source for the home that also can feed the electrical grid.
EnOS is a platform with access to numerous charging companies, and with cars integrated
into the system, artificial intelligence could help determine when and where to charge the
car, when it's most efficient to use it for powering a home, and when the grid requires
additional energy.
Ideally, renewable sources of energy such as wind or solar would be providing much of
the power into the grid to make for a clean and sustainable system.
As for the car itself, the all-wheel-drive Sibylla measures approximately 197 inches
long and 58 inches tall; it has four electric motors, two on each axle.
There is no information about the size or capability of the battery-electric setup,
but the press release mentions that a 75-kWh battery stores enough energy to power a typical
European household for a week.
For reference, Tesla already offers the Model S with 75- and 100-kWh battery packs, and
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has long spoken about the idea of enabling his cars to feed energy
back into the grid when needed.GFG Style cites retro inspirations for the design of the Sibylla,
which is both a nod to Giugiaro's mother, Maria Sibilla, and a reference to the prophets
of Greek and Roman mythology.
GFG says it is a call back to "provocative hedonistic cars" that Giugiaro penned in
the '60s and '70s.Although the large glass greenhouse certainly impresses, the Sibylla
doesn't truly stun until it is fully opened.
The wraparound windshield/front glass slides forward above the hood for easy entry, while
the rear side glass opens gullwing style.
To prevent the sun from cooking the interior, the glass also tints automatically.
Other novelties include an "aviation inspired" steering wheel with touchpad controls, multiple
infotainment screens in the dashboard, and, for the rear passengers, extra storage space
behind the rear seats. At the Geneva auto show, the Sibylla will be displayed alongside a
Chevrolet Corvair Testudo.
The Bertone-developed Testudo from the 1963 Geneva show, which Giugiaro designed at age
24, has styling that is echoed in the Sibylla, with a glass canopy and a long, low profile.
We've no doubt that this the pair will make for a stunning show stand, but we're skeptical
the Sibylla will ever hit the roads in any sort of production form.
Maybe we should seek out a sibyl for
the answers.
