BBNaija 2018: Don Jazzy, Uti Nwachukwu react to planned return of 2 evicted housemates

Divergent reactions have continued to trail Big brothers announcement to bring back two evicted housemates to the reality show.

Show host, Ebuka announced on Sunday that two of the evicted 11 housemates, including Anto, who was evicted on Sunday would be returning to the show.

However, viewers of the reality show, including Nigerian celebrities have voiced out their opinion on the big twist.

Mavin Producer, Don Jazzy on his twitter page wrote:.

Dear big brother I don't think this a fair move.

Then again na u get house. Make I Dey go.

Big brother if u want to bring 2 people back I vote for Ebuka and Uti or Beverly Osu sef.

Also Winner of Big Brother Africa (BBA) All Stars edition, Uti Nwachukwu wrote, We need Drama, Yes Khloe and Ifu Ennada for the return.

And Im definitely voting the intelligent and talented Ifu Ennada back.

BBNaija 2018: 'It seems fishy' – Juliet Ibrahim reacts to Teddy A's votes

Ghanaian actress, Juliet Ibrahim, who is a great fan of Big Brother Naija housemate, Teddy A, has reacted to the 8.

41 per cent vote he got as announced yesterday on the eviction show.

Teddy A got a total of 8.

41 per cent votes, while Miracle got a total of 27.

98 per cent, more than three times Teddy A's.

However, Juliet Ibrahim says there seems to be a manipulation of the votes.

On Instagram, she wrote, Yes,Teddy A votes seems fishy,.

Most people were splitting votes that should not be the case, it is a game.

We need to be for one person only until hes evicted this is not good for us.

We are one and we can make this happen nexttyime.

Please no more splitting votes.

DAILYPOST had reported that Big Brother Naija housemate, Anto was evicted, following her nomination for possible eviction alongside six other housemates.

There was also a change in the game on Sunday as BBN host, Ebuka announced that viewers at home, now have the power to bring back two housemates evicted from the show.

Aquaponics DIY - Duration: 8:35.

aquaponics DIY so when I started here it was just the fish in the tank with this

pump in and of itself once the tank cycled I started adding and I added the

styrofoam here and started doing that and I added this egg carton to see what

else I could sprout it's time to step it up now we've got an N F T system going

in the dining room how bout that what we've got here is I'm still keeping this pump

running I don't see any point in turning it off and then I've got this pump which

is completely separate so we start at this pump here and that goes into a

half-inch piece of PVC up into the ball valve and dumps into this kitty litter

bucket that I spray-painted the bucket itself

I measured from the bottom up 8 inches and then the water goes into this bucket

and these are filter pads that I have so I just throw them in there anyway the

water hits that and come down into the NFT channel I'm checking on this thing

all the time so in the crazy event that this thing

starts to overflow backfill or whatever I have a safety measure this piece this

black piece right here is called a bulkhead fitting so if the water were to

start rising because it was clogged or whatever and come up and hit this

bulk head fitting coming down this three-quarter inch pipe and just dump

back into the tank so I have a safety measure in place there worst-case

scenario alright so the water hits the pads and

then I have another bulkhead fitting here coming out into a three-quarter

inch male adapter and then into my elbow and it dumps into the NFT channel itself

this is a 4 inch ABS pipe that I cut holes in every 8 inches I used the three

inch hole saw and I have three inch neti pots there are 26 holes

total in this entire thing so the water dumps into the hole is

gravity-fed down to the corner and then down to the end here at this end this

cap here before I put the cap on what I did was I used a smaller hole saw and

drill the hole through the cap and then I attached another bulkhead fitting then

I glued the piece on so anyway the water comes down to the end hits this

bulkhead fitting goes to another male adapter into my elbows and we start to

gravity feed it back to the fish tank I've got this piece held up with string

along the way too and a third piece of string right here and then old there's

the return so the whole point in all this is that I feed the fish the fish in

turn feed the plants the plants feed me and eventually so will the fish if all

goes according to plan and approximately 9 to 12 months those guys should be

about one and a quarter pound and they'll be moving from there to there

first thing that I did when I started this before I brought the pipe into

the house was I started right here these are 1 foot long pieces of 2x4 and what I

did was I attached to this piece into the wall there's a stud right there a

couple screws in there and then I came back with another piece of 2x4 and

attached to this to that first piece of 2x4 then I was then I put the pipe on

and my my braces here the whole reason I did that was I created a gap here

between the window and the pipe this gives me room that I can put a curtain

in and run it all the way across without interfering with the plants because we

don't have blinds we just have these these hooks up here that we use a sheet

on and hook it with a pin so anyway it's kind

of hokey but that's what we're using for curtain at the moment

worst case scenario comes summertime I got to put up some shade cloth or

whatever I have total access to do that without any obstructions and I can close

up the windows at night keep the house warm insulate the plants from the cold

wind from the cold weather outside be a whole lot simpler if I just put up

blinds but anyway that's what I'm doing at the moment so this wall here is

southern exposure that tree outside though it does provide some shade and

worst case scenario I might have to supplement a little bit of lighting down

the road I don't think I'll have to do much if any at all I just want to wait

it wait it out and see how it plays out because what we're growing in here as it

is when I'm growing outside these are things that I'm always like trying to

put in the shade because the Sun is just gonna fry this stuff you know we get

like ninety hundred degree days on average come summertime and it's just

you're trying to grow leafy stuff outside like this it just gets fried so

we've got butter crunch lettuce this is some spinach more lettuce and spinach

this is this right here is lemon thyme and then we have a German thyme and this

is a rosemary that I had over there in the styrofoam in the last

video and that's starting to sprout roots and this is a soilless system

here I basically got the plants put it in a five-gallon bucket with

water and massage the roots until all the dirt was free of the roots just put

them in the net cup and then place them in the NFT channel all in all I probably

spent about 150 bucks on this all of the the 4-inch pipe and couplers and the

endings elbows that in and of itself was like 93 dollars

the pump that was a about twenty bucks and then you know I got my PVC and all

these other little fittings and stuff you know by the time I was all said

though it's about a hundred fifty bucks so I've got the bulkhead fitting over

here as far down as I can on the on the outlet on the return back to the tank

the only thing that I would do differently if I could do this all over

again is I'd do the same thing except I put

the bulkhead fitting up as high as I can on this end so it would basically act in

the same manner that this acts if for some crazy reason this were to start to

overflow before it spills out of these cups it would come and spill out of the

out of a drainage pipe so anyway if I were to ever do this if I were to ever

like start getting crazy and making changes to this that's probably what I

would do but I'm looking at this thing so much so often that I don't think it's

gonna be a problem right here that's a that's a plecostimus that guy right

there and I just gotta say these guys there's three of them in there and they

are keeping this tank incredibly clean it's amazing how clean they're keeping

it so I'm not worried about algae because uh if you go back to like two

videos ago this tank look like a mess and these plecostimus just

straightened it right up I've spent a lot of time watching videos or reading

books just researching this stuff any which way I that I can all I can say is

studying something and actually doing it are two different things this

has been a big learning process up to this point all right well there you have

BBNaija 2018: Nigerians react to planned return of two evicted housemates

Organizers of the Big Brother 2018 reality show on Sunday announced that two evicted housemates would be voted back to the house.

Big Brother host, Ebuka announced that two of the evicted 11 housemates, including Anto, who was evicted on Sunday would be returning to the show.

Ebuka was quoted saying, Theres a major change in this weeks voting.

Big Brother has accorded two evicted housemates the opportunity to return to the show and play for the money.

So instead of voting for eviction, you will rather be voting for recall of two housemates.

This has stirred up controversy online as Nigerians have condemned the new change, thereby calling on Big brother to rescind his decision.

Most of them expressed disappointments as they expected the organisers to bring fake housemates not evicted ones.

With a network of over 160 affiliated professors around the world

the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab is a Center at the Department of Economics

at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

J-PAL was founded with an aim to reduce poverty

by ensuring that policy is based on scientific evidence.

To encourage evidence-based policymaking in the region,

J-PAL South Asia was established at the Institute for Financial Management and Research, Chennai.

The point of J-PAL South Asia was to be kind of a focal point for all the

work we've done not just in South Asia--in the world--and bring it to South Asia.

J-PAL South Asia uses randomized evaluations to generate

credible evidence to answer critical policy questions,

and to learn what works and what does not.

Through its six regional offices across the world, J-PAL affiliated professors

have worked on more than 860 completed and ongoing randomized evaluations

across 80 countries to inform evidence-based policymaking.

We base so many of our decisions on factors other than evidence and just by adding

evidence to the mix of our political and financial and staff constraints

can lead to so many better outcomes at almost no additional cost.

In order to bring about change, J-PAL South Asia supports the generation of evidence,

synthesizes evidence, summarizes, and disseminates evidence to inform policymaking.

We are really completely setting the standards for the highest quality in

data collection and randomized control trials but we are also engaging very deeply

with partners and civil society, in government, companies, etc,

and that has been done through the work of the whole team here in South Asia.

We started a lot of our work with NGOs, over the years it has

built into working with the governments. We have moved to a stage where we are

now almost embedded in many of the governments in providing them technical

advice, in thinking with them not just about matchmaking into research and

individual evaluations but also thinking about how to increase the capacity of

state governments to use evidence to inform policymaking.

Over the years, J-PAL South Asia has undertaken capacity-building, through the CLEAR initiative,

to build the monitoring and evaluation capacities of partner NGOs, policymakers,

donors, and state government officials.

In 2014, J-PAL South Asia signed an MoU with the government of Tamil Nadu

to institutionalize evidence-based policymaking.

In Tamil Nadu we really have a very strong partnership,

they seem to be asking questions, trying to get answers,

we are trying to provide answers, we are pretty optimistic they'll use the answers.

While J-PAL assists us with taking up some of these studies,

the engagement with them has meant that the quality of some of the evaluation studies

that the government of Tamil Nadu does

has also substantially been stepped up.

Backed by rigorous evidence, J-PAL South

works to scale up proven and effective programs.

To date, over 300 million people

have been reached through programs that were evaluated by

J-PAL affiliated professors and scaled up

in different parts of the world, including India.

In 2017, J-PAL South Asia signed an institutional partnership

with the state government of Punjab.

In the last ten years, J-PAL affiliates have 74 ongoing

and 102 completed evaluations in India.

In order to ensure that policy in India is informed by scientific evidence and

research is translated into action, J-PAL South Asia is working in partnership

with civil society partners, multilateral institutions, 16 state governments, and

several central government ministries.

We, as a foundation,

have a strong self-belief and self-image

of an evidence-based foundation.

For us, this kind of signal extraction, this kind of evidence base,

is key to anything that we do.

I would very much say that J-PAL

has played a central, exclusive role

in bringing that clarity and power of this methodology

to the Indian thinking, to Indian policymaking.

The work that has happened between Pratham and J-PAL

is a very good example when really two partners

can sit down and talk about things of interest

and then at every stage you would pick out a few questions

of mutual interest and then that would be

converted into an impact evaluation.

With 175 employees, 1000 field staff,

nine project offices in India, and with training partnerships in Nepal, Bhutan,

Bangladesh, and Pakistan, J-PAL South Asia is working across eight sectors:

Labor Markets, Health, Environment and Energy, Political Economy and Governance

Education, Agriculture, Crime, and Finance.

We'd like to widen our horizon of social welfare initiatives,

such as direct benefit transfers, child health, nutrition,

and expand our work in gender which is cross-cutting across a variety of sectors.

We also plan to deepen our engagement with journalists to interpret

and disseminate evidence more widely.

special is we are not consultants, we're not here to deliver a report,

we are certainly not here to deliver the report that you might like to see,

we are here as long-run partners.

J-PAL has primarily been working on funding from

established and international donors. To achieve all this in the next 10 years we

will need to engage meaningfully with corporate partners, philanthropic

initiatives, and impact investors, both as knowledge partners and to

understand their priorities and interest in supporting our work and growth.

Did You Know Police Put $45K Bounty On Kudirat's Killers - They Knew It Was An Inside Job? - Duration: 3:33.

I have been researching on political killings and state-sanctioned hits in Nigeria. It is tragic where we are coming from.

The murder of these people - Pa Alfred Rewane, Bola Ige and Kudirat Abiola was like a scene in the action movie - The Mechanic.

Luckily, Alex Ibru and Pa Abraham Adesanya, though both late now, survived hits ordered by the Abacha regime. But what is more depressing for me is the irresponsibility and complicity of the Nigeria police in the barbarous executions.

In July 1999, at the Oputa Panel, Sergeant Rogers, Abachas hitman, confessed to have carried out the killing of Kudirat. He also confessed to have carried out the hits on Adesanya and Ibru at the behest of Major Hamza Al Mustapha.

But did you know that the police in these cases arrested innocent Nigerians, some of whom were killed in detention?.

For example, in the case of Pa Rewane, two of the innocent suspects were only released in 2011 - most of them died in police custody. The police did all they could to bury the case.

Did you know the police, under the Abacha regime, which killed Kudirat, put a $45,000 bounty on the killers of the woman even when they knew the perpetrators?.

I believe most Nigerians in prison today are innocent. But our police are not a law enforcement organisation, but a regime-protection agency. And it has been so since the military era.

In addition, most Nigerians have no faith in the Nigeria police. I was discussing getting police security for an estate with a neighbour. This is what he said:.

The police security could mastermind an armed robbery here or even carry out the robbery. Halogen security is better.. I was reminded of how some policemen guarding former President Jonathans house in Abuja butchered the place and looted its content.

The hierarchy of the Nigeria police is perhaps oblivious of citizens revulsion or just insouciant about it.

In the days of the protest against SARS, I did not join the campaign against the dreaded squad because I knew the hierarchy of the Nigeria police was not amenable to reforms. I believe the police need a total purge now.

I have devoted some of my time to criticise the police because I want a better organisation. And I know there are good men in the force.

Uber suspends autonomous-car testing after fatal Arizona crash - Duration: 1:44.

A fatal accident in Arizona prompts Uber to suspending its self-driving car tests in the

United States.

This is reportedly the first time a pedestrian is killed by an autonomous vehicle, sparking

further fears of the technology.

For details we turn to Ro Aram.

Sunday's accident could deal a huge blow to not only Uber's long-term business model and

strategy, but the general idea of having self-driving cars out on public roads.

Uber has consistently touted that its driverless cars are safer than vehicles driven by humans.

But, autonomous cars have been prone to accidents, with some being caught running red lights

and others even colliding with other traffic.

But now that a pedestrian has been killed, the technology has once again come under fire.

Police said the Volvo was in self-driving mode with a supervisor behind the wheel when

the 49-year-old woman, identified as Elaine Herzberg, was hit.

She later died in hospital.

Uber expressed its condolences on twitter, adding it is fully cooperating in the investigation.

The issue has also raised questions about legislation related to autonomous driving,

especially amid a fierce battle between carmakers to master the technology.

In the U.S., the federal government has voluntary guidelines for companies that want to test

autonomous vehicles, leaving much of the regulation up to states.

Although there has been a gradual increase in legislation, many are still wary of the

technology.

Sunday's incident will only add to those fears and will likely spark significant calls for

reform and reflections within the industry.

South Korea's producer prices go up in February - Duration: 1:37.

Korea's Producer prices for the month of February hit their highest level in three years.

Agricultural and fisheries goods are the key driving factors.

Kim Hyesung breaks down the digits for us.

South Korea's producer prices rose for the second month in a row in February.

The Bank of Korea says last month's producer price index, a barometer of future consumer

inflation, reached 103-point-99,... up zero-point-four percent compared to the previous month and

one-point-three percent on-year.

The index is at its highest point since November 2014.

Agricultural and fishery products prices surged five-point-seven percent on-month, hitting

a high not seen since August 2016.

Prices of agricultural goods spiked more than nine percent on-month, led by rising prices

of goods like white radish and green chili peppers.

Prices of livestock also rose around four percent, with chicken prices soaring 17-and-a-half

percent on-month.

"Cold weather and soaring demand during the Lunar New Year holiday led to a surge in agricultural

and livestock product prices in February.

Producer price is a leading indicator of consumer prices, with around a two to three month difference,

but the demand side pressure on industrial goods prices is not high, so the overall pressure

on consumer prices is expected to be fairly low."

Prices of industrial goods rose slightly by zero-point-two percent as chemicals climbed

zero-point-eight percent from a month earlier.

Prices of services edged up a tenth of one percent.

Officials from South Korea, North Korea and U.S. take part in Track 1.5 meeting in Finland - Duration: 2:18.

Over in Finland,... an unofficial two-day meeting of government officials and experts

from Seoul, Washington and Pyongyang was held.

The participants had their first dinner together ahead of in-depth discussions on various subjects

including the upcoming historic summits.

Park Ji-won zooms in on the prelude to the so-called "Track one-point-five" event.

The officials and experts meeting for the so-called 'track one-point-five' talks held

their first official dinner Monday evening in Finland's capital Helsinki.

Starting Tuesday,... the 18 representatives, six from each country, will have two days

of closed-door discussions on various issues, including the terms and conditions for the

North's denuclearization,... and the upcoming inter-Korean summit and U.S.-North Korea summit.

The list of attendees includes South Korean security experts, Pyongyang's deputy director-general

for North American affairs, Choe Kang-il, and the former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea

Kathleen Stephens.

While preparations for the upcoming summit talks are underway,... the New York Times,

quoting several officials, reported that the the Central Intelligence Agency is taking

a primary role in orchestrating the meeting,... with the U.S. State Department having a rather

diminished role.

Although outgoing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will remain at his post until the end of the

month,... until C.I.A. director Mike Pompeo replaces him,.. the paper said the U.S. intelligence

agency is already in charge of some back-channel communications between the U.S. and North

Korea.

Meanwhile,...

South Korea's foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha has been discussing the North Korean issue

with top diplomats from the European Union.

Speaking at the EU Foreign Affairs Council's meeting in Brussels on Monday, Kang explained

the situation on the Korean peninsula,... asking for the EU's continued support and

cooperation in establishing peace and stability in the region.

The South Korean foreign ministry said,... the EU invited Kang to attend at the monthly

meeting of foreign ministers of the EU countries,... and it was the first time a South Korean foreign

minister has attended the meeting.

North Korea agrees to hold South Korean pop concerts in April - Duration: 2:07.

The two Koreas wrapped up talks today about a concert in the North by a group of performers

from Seoul.

The two sides agreed on the format and set the date for early next month.

It'll be the first time in over a decade for South Korean artists to perform in Pyongyang.

Kwon Jang-ho starts us off.

After meeting with representatives from North Korea, singer and composer Yoon Sang confirmed

that the two sides agreed on the South Korean pop concerts that will be held in Pyongyang.

"The South will send an art troupe to the North made up of 160 members.

The artists will stay in Pyongyang from March 31st to April 3rd, and put on two concerts

at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre and the Pyongyang Arena."

Also announced was the list of artists who have accepted the invitation to perform and

who have been approved by North Korea.

They include pop legends such as Cho Yong-pil and Lee Sun-hee, as well as current K-pop

artists such as the female idol-group Red Velvet.

The first concert will feature South Korean artists, while the second will have collaborations

with North Korean performers.

The two sides also agreed on an advance team coming from the South to inspect the venues.

They will leave on Thursday for a three-day trip... to check the facilities, accomodation

and travel route.

For any further preparatory arrangements, the two sides agreed to continue discussions

via the Panmunjeom communications channel.

Despite being the first non-government official to head official talks with North Korea, Yoon

said they went smoothly.

However, he added that with only 11 days left 'til they leave for Pyongyang, they had much

to prepare, including a final song list.

"It would have been nice to agree upon the song list today, but there were some difficulties

in negotiating the songs we wanted and the ones they wanted.

I wouldn't say it was political, but more because there were many songs they did not

know."

Seoul will be hoping the concert carries on the current positive mood between the two

Koreas... ahead of the landmark summit between President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader

Kim Jong-un to take place later in April.

Rival parties clash over government's proposal for Constitutional amendment - Duration: 2:41.

Opposition parties view the president's push for Constitutional revision as an opportunistic

strategy to win the June local elections.

Brushing off such claims is the ruling bloc, which called on other parties to come together

and craft a proposal of their own.

Kim Min-ji has the latest from parliament.

The ruling Democratic Party of Korea called on the main opposition Liberty Korea Party

to work sincerely toward crafting a Constitutional revision in parliament.

The party said the fact that President Moon Jae-in has postponed the submission date of

the government's version... from this Wednesday to next Monday shows his willingness to leave

the revision up to the National Assembly.

It went onto say that the main opposition has no justification for opposing a referendum

being held alongside the local elections in June.

"The Liberty Korea Party doesn't seem to be interested in what the people want.

Polls show that what the people want is revision.

On top of that, going back over a year, there's been enough discussion of the matter in parliament,

so there's no reason to delay it."

The main opposition, however, dug in its heels,... claiming the president and the ruling party

are trying to use the referendum to win this summer's local elections.

The party claimed further that the government's proposal won't pass the National Assembly

anyway.

In fact, the proposal would need support from two-thirds of the parliament's 293 lawmakers

-- but the Liberty Korea Party holds 116 seats -- enough to block it.

The conservative party has been against the idea of holding a referendum in tandem with

the elections,... saying it would politicize the issue.

There's also the matter of how the Constitution should be changed to reduce the presidential

powers.

The main opposition disagrees with the government's approach, and insists that the way to go is

to give more authority to a prime minister picked by the legislature.

"We will not take part in a parliamentary vote on the government's proposal.

Any lawmaker that does will be expelled from the party.

The government's pressing ahead with its proposal is an attempt to label us as 'anti-revision.'"

The centrist Bareun Mirae Party also said that they can't help but think that the government's

preferred timing for a referendum is an attempt to win election votes.

But at the same time, the party acknowledged that it shows the National Assembly hasn't

done its part -- and called on parties to come together to draw up a roadmap.

The government is seen as trying to up the pressure on the National Assembly -- but there's

a lot that has to be done if a referendum is to be held in June -- with lawmakers still

having to come to an agreement on both the timing and content.

Blue House discloses part of gov't proposal for constitutional revision - Duration: 2:47.

The Presidential Office has started disclosing the contents of the government-proposed bill

on revising the nation's Constitution.

Hwang Hojun was at Cheongwadae for the announcement that provides a glimpse of the direction the

Moon administration is going with the amendment.

Initial impressions are that the government's proposal for the constitutional amendment

will articulate the nation's identity as a democracy... and put more emphasis on human

rights.

Reporters were briefed on Tuesday morning by three Blue House officials, including the

senior Presidential secretary for civil affairs, on the proposed Preamble to the Constitution

and matters related to basic rights as well as popular sovereignty.

"First and foremost, I make it clear that the people should be the center of the Constitutional

revision.

The Republic of Korea that the people desire is a country that guarantees the people's

freedom, safety, and the minimum quality of life as a human being."

The current Preamble to the Constitution underscores that the nation upholds the democratic ideals

of the April 19th Revolution of 1960, in which people protested against electoral corruption.

The Moon administration has decided to add other democratic movements to the nation's

constitutional framework, including the Busan-Masan protests of 1979, the Gwangju democratization

movement of the following year, and the June 10th democracy movement in the late 80s.

The government's proposal also expands the scope of inalienable basic rights, not only

to Korean citizens but to all humankind.

According to the Blue House, this reflects the international community's expectations...

and the fact that there are more than 2 million foreign nationals living in Korea.

Social rights, such as education, however, will still be limited to Korean citizens.

The Blue House also wants to include the people's right to life and the right to live safely,...

meaning that the government must protect the people from disasters.

That's apparently a reflection of recent tragedies including the sinking of the Sewol-ho ferry,

which killed more than 300 high school students.

The government also seeks to reinforce popular sovereignty... by adding the people's right

to recall elected officials and representatives,.... and also allowing people to directly propose

legislation.

This would be the first time the Korean Constitution has specified such powers for the people.

"By expanding the system of direct democracy on such a large scale, I believe it will complement

the existing representative system and greatly contribute to the development of democracy."

And the Blue House will reveal more of the proposal; Wednesday will cover decentralization,

and on Thursday it'll be the rights and privileges of constitutional institutions, including

the form of government.

The Blue House will prepare the bill for submission on March 26th.
