I'm Miss Kris.

I'm so glad that you could come to my reading time.

I was just reading The House at Pooh Corner.

And the title has the word AT in it.

And we're going to read that word today.

We're going to put together the letters that we

learned and read words.

So you can see there's a T.

And we learned that letter.

T says \t\, t says \t\.

Our tongue taps when we say \t\.

\t\

And we learned the letter B.

B says \b\, b says \b\.

And our lips pop when we say \b\.

And then we learned the letter A.

A says \a\, a says \a\.

Now you remember we learned some different A's.

We learned that sometimes

often times in books

A is wearing a hat.

And I showed you my hat.

Well, the other thing I want to show you today

is that sometimes A has a tail.

This A has a tail.

And sometimes A doesn't have a tail.

And either way is fine and we can know

that we can recognize the letter A

whether or not it has a hat and whether or not it has a tail

because I bet you knew that I was Miss Kris

even though I have a tail on today. Didn't you?

You can hit a ball with a bat.

Another kind of bat is a bat that flies.

Can you make a bat with your hands?

A bat flies around at dusk eating mosquitoes up.

Now if we put the B

at the end and the T at the beginning

and the A in the middle we have

In this box,

And on a file folder,

A little thing that sticks out and identifies what's in it.

I have different ideas in here

Ladies and gentlemen,

Friends,

Following a good tradition started many years ago,

we are celebrating the Islamic New Year

with the ambassadors of the member states

of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC),

representatives of Russian federal authorities

and major Russian religious associations,

public figures, academics and political scientists.

Supporting friendly relations with Muslim nations

is one of the priorities of Russian foreign policy.

Our cooperation – both bilateral

and in the OIC – serves to improve the world

and helps to promote the objective process

of moving to a polycentric and democratic

international order.

It is based on respect for international law,

cultural and civilisational diversity in the world,

and the natural aspirations of peoples

to independently determine their fate.

Today we all are deeply concerned with the many

unresolved conflicts in the Islamic world, first of all,

in the Middle East and North Africa:

in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq.

The Palestinian problem remains a chronic factor

of instability and should be solved via direct dialogue

between Palestine and Israel based on UN resolutions

and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Russia, as a member of the Middle East Quartet,

is ready to actively work toward

this in close cooperation with the Arab League.

We are for overcoming the rift between Palestinians,

and note the active role of Egypt in finding a solution,

which is already producing results.

We seek to help restore the unity

of the Palestinian people.

It is obvious that there is no military solution

to the crises.

We believe there is no alternative to overcoming them

by political and diplomatic means,

via constructive nationwide dialogue free of external

interference, with the aim of preserving the sovereignty

and territorial integrity of the states.

It is necessary to make every effort to prevent

the disintegration of states,

to resist attempts to incite ethnic or religious discord.

We must help overcome the dispute between

the two branches of Islam, Sunnis and Shiites.

Russia is known to consistently promote an initiative

to strengthen trust and security

in the Persian Gulf region,

which has recently become even more important.

We support Kuwait's efforts to restore

the Cooperation Council for the Arab States

of the Gulf (GCC) for stability in the region.

The positive dynamics in Syria are encouraging.

The Astana process that we launched together

with Turkey and Iran allowed us

to reach agreements resulting in the creation

of four de-escalation zones,

including in the south, with Jordan and the US.

The level of violence is dramatically lower there,

the rebuilding of destroyed objects

and socioeconomic infrastructure has begun there,

and the humanitarian situation is improving.

Conditions have been created to rapidly wipe out

the terrorist stronghold,

establish peace all across Syria

and conduct an inclusive intra-Syrian dialogue based

on UN Resolution 2254.

On the eve of the resumption

of the Geneva process, we welcome the efforts

of Saudi Arabia to unite the opposition

on a constructive platform of direct talks

with the Syrian government.

Russia consistently advocates for the settlement

of the internal Afghan conflict within the framework

of a national reconciliation process

led by Afghans themselves.

We see the Moscow format for Afghanistan

consultations, which we started at the beginning

of this year, as an optimal platform for working together

to establish direct dialogue between the government

and the Taliban, while respecting the criteria set

by the UN Security Council.

The work of the SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group

is being resumed as part of coordinating

regional efforts.

The first meeting is scheduled

to take place on October 11 in Moscow.

Russia is an old and reliable partner of African countries

and seeks to expand its counter-terrorism cooperation

with states in the region.

The relevant interaction is carried out both bilaterally

and with the African Union and leading

sub-regional associations of the continent.

A significant contribution to combating

extremism and terrorism is Russia's participation

in international efforts to settle conflicts

and crises on the African continent.

We help train security forces in African countries,

provide assistance in educational development

and help solve humanitarian problems.

Reports of civilian and police deaths during the clashes

in Myanmar's Rakhine State,

the mass exodus of refugees and the threat

of a humanitarian crisis are causing serious concern.

Our consistent position is that all the problems

in the region, which are complicated and multifaceted,

should be solved only by political means,

via dialogue between representatives

of all nationalities and confessions.

We call on the parties to show restraint

and to take an objective view of current events.

I am pleased to note that Russia's diplomatic efforts

to develop cooperation in various areas with Muslim

nations and their largest organisation,

the OIC, are supported by Russian regions,

business communities, religious associations,

academics and cultural figures.

I would like to highlight the activities

of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group

headed by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

Its regular meeting took place this spring

in Grozny.

Another popular platform for building contacts

with the foreign Islamic business community

is the annual Russia-Islamic World international

economic summit in Kazan,

There's Something Very Fishy About These Trees ... | Deep Look - Duration: 4:38.

This flower lives in a lush Alaskan meadow.

But it's survival depends on the deep ocean, hundreds of miles away.

What could possibly bind the two together?

These guys - chum salmon.

As adults, they patrol the Pacific, gorging themselves and growing fat.

But after a few years,

The streams where they were born call to them.

The salmon are hypnotized by smell of the freshwater, flowing from melting snow on the

mountains above.

By the thousands, they mob together and charge upstream.

Eagles feast on the stampede of flesh.

The salmon are relentless.

They don't even eat.

They just swim.

They're reaching the end of their lives,

But they have one last thing to do before they die

Females dig little nests in the gravel with their tails.

Then they lay their eggs, which the males fertilize.... thoroughly.

Then she covers them up.

For most of these salmon, there's no hope of making it back to sea.

It's the end for them.

But wait, this story isn't done.

One way or another, the salmon carcasses make their way up onto the river banks,

into the forest.

But bears are sloppy eaters, they take their favorite bits and leave rest to decay.

That's a score for these blow flies.

They taste the flesh to make sure it's to their liking - but not because they're going

to eat it.

Their kids will call this carcass home.

The fly eggs hatch into maggots that set to work devouring the salmon.

Rotting flesh is their thing.

When they've had their fill, the maggots squirm off and bury themselves underground

until they're ready to emerge as adult flies.

They scatter off to live their lives in the forest.

When they die or get eaten, the nutrients from the salmon

get spread throughout the ecosystem.

Things like nitrogen, that plants need to grow.

So the river is like an artery - bringing an influx of vital nutrients direct from the

deep ocean.

In these coastal forests, up to 80% of the nitrogen in the plants can be traced back

to the salmon

And the blow flies have one more important job - pollinating fields of flowers.

It's all thanks to these intrepid fish - who nourish an entire ecosystem.

Year after year.

These little guys are baby coho salmon, ready to take their first big journey out into the

ocean.

So I sat down and I did the text to Deanna.

And he texted me.

And he's like, "Who is Nick Jonas."

And I was like, "What the heck?"

I was just so shocked.

And I was like so excited.

I was so jealous.

I wanted to be there.

He asked me and I was like, "Oh, he's just like a singer.

He's in the Jonas Brothers.

Like I like him.

I love this story.

It's one of my favorite stories.

Veteran In Tears As He Reads 70-Year-Old Letter He Wrote To His Future Wife

Whether it's chance or fate, this World War II veteran has just had the surprise of

a lifetime thanks to a coincidental find at a thrift shop.

Ilene Ortiz was doing some thrift shopping one day when she stumbled across a letter

that was tucked inside an old record.

After reading the emotional letter, Ilene knew she had to do what she could to find

the man who wrote it.

When the letter reached its author, the man immediately broke down in tears.

That man was Bill Moore, 90, who served in the war with Patton's Third Army in Europe.

He originally wrote the letter to his eventual wife, Bernadean Gibson, 70 years ago.

While Bill read the old letter he couldn't help but laugh through the tears.

The letter read: "My darling, lovable, alluring, Bernadean, I ran out of space, but I could

have written a lot more adjectives describing you.

You are so lovely, darling, that I often wonder how it is possible that you are mine.

I'm really the luckiest guy in the world, you know.

And you are the reason, Bernadean.

Even your name sounds lovely to me."

The letter had been written in 1945.

Little did anyone know, the two would spend the next 63 years married and raising children

together.

Bill commented on the letter saying, "When you're apart for the reason, not knowing

if and when you'd ever see that person again, every chance you got to communicate was just

wonderful."

An incredibly heartwarming reminder was also a little bittersweet for the gentlemen.

It served as a reminder of their love but also as a more somber reminder of his wife's

fairly recent passing in 2010.

"It's difficult talking out loud about it to other people," he said.

"But I loved her, and she loved me.

That's all I can tell you.

It's a heartache not being with her all the time," Bill explained.

Ortiz found the letter in a record cover after a purchase at her local thrift store.

She contacted the local news hoping they would help in her search for the family connected

to the letter.

She then was lead to Melinda Gale, 48, one Bernadean and Bill's daughters.

When she read the note addressed to her deceased mother, she couldn't hold back the tears.

She claims the flowery language her father used is far from anything she would have expected

from him.

She said, "My hands were shaking when I finished reading it."

"It truly was a window into how deep their love was.

And obviously, they were married for almost 63 years.

We knew they loved each other very, very much, but as children, you don't see that.

Where it came from, that deep connection, and this was a window into their story.

He was a mechanical engineer.

I cannot believe he shared these deep emotional words with her," Melinda stated.

Melinda and her sister Gale had always had a fascination with the service their father

gave during the war.

They even planned a special trip to see the places he'd been.

"Mom had never gotten to see everywhere he had been.

We did this amazing trip so I can picture exactly where he was on December 29, 1944,

sitting in this miserable, cold, dark forest in the northern region where France, Germany,

and Belgium all meet."

Trying to explain the placement of the letter, Gale believes her mother put it there for

safekeeping since it meant so much to her.

The woman who found the letter can't remember which record it was in but Gale has a pretty

good idea which one it may have been.

She explains that her mother's song dedicated to her father was "I'll be Seeing You"

from the Broadway musical, Right This Way.
