Recently, someone asked me this question,
"How can you be positive you will be in heaven?"
I don't know if that was a personal question like,
"You? Are you sure that you're going to make it in?"
But it's also an honest question
I think a lot of Christians ask.
"Am I sure that I'm saved?"
"Do I believe this enough?"
"Haven't I sinned too many times?"
"Could God still like me and love me
and accept me and save me?"
Well, my answer to that question actually was confirmed
with a father I talked to yesterday.
He said that when his daughter was in high school
she had all these inspirational quotes from poets
in different places on her walls of her bedroom.
In the middle of it she had this little word
that didn't even seem like it came from the English language.
The word
Ouden.
Ouden was actually a Greek word
that she had learned from a high school Christian professor.
And it came from this verse, Romans chapter 8 verse 1.
The word Ouden is the Greek word in this sentence for "no."
There's not an inch, there's not an ounce,
there's not a word of condemnation
in God's heart for those who are in Christ Jesus.
And that is why I'm positive that I'm going to be in heaven.
Even though, just like Paul in Romans chapter 7, I struggle,
I don't do the things I promised God that I'm going to do.
I keep doing the sins that I say I'm never ever going to do again.
At the end of all that, what's the conclusion?
Because of Jesus, because I'm in him,
I trust in him. There is,
there's no condemnation.
God delights in me
and he loves me.
So if you're struggling with sin,
if you're repentant but you're not really getting that much better,
you can still be positive in all that brokenness
and all that struggle
because of one word.
Oudin.
