ARE YOU GETTING ENOUGH VITAMIN N

BY SHARMINI GANAJUNE

Have you heard of Nature Deficit Disorder?

Author Richard Louv created the phrase in his book Last Child in the Woods.

NDD refers to the disconnect that exists in the modern world between children and nature.

It also reflects what many teens, adults, and seniors are experiencing in our busy lives.

Many of us are spending too much time in the ever-expanding and enticing online digital

world of social media, emails, and YouTube videos.

We are losing our connection to ourselves, to nature, and even to other humans (meeting

or speaking face to face).

Our senses are being dulled from lack of use and our brains are overstimulated and overloaded,

resulting in mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion.

Thankfully, there is a solution: A daily dose of Mother Nature can help bring balance back

to our busy, stressful lives.

In his new book, Vitamin N: 500 Ways to Enrich Your Familys Health & Happiness, Richard

Louv refers to the importance of doses of Vitamin N, or nature.

There has been an explosion of research over the last few years showing the important connection

between spending time in green spaces and our mind, body, and soul health.

Nature is vital to replenishing our energy, calming our busy minds, and helping us ground

and connect again.

Here are some great tips from his book to help ensure we receive our daily dose of Vitamin

N.

Book Nature Time: Life is overly busy for most of us.

In order to ensure we avoid NDD, we need to book daily nature breaks and activities and

stick to it.

It can be as simple as playing or eating in the backyard or taking a slow walk in nature,

being aware of the flowers, trees, birds, sky, water, rain, sun no matter what the

weather.

One can have so much fun in the middle of a storm, so get your gear on and get outside!

Whether by yourself or with the company of friends, family, or pets: BREATHE IN the amazing

energy of the woods, local creek or river, the forest, mountains, beaches, or gardens,

and REFRESH.

Use your Senses: Utilize all your senses and encourage your kids to as well.

STOP and smell the flowers, Feel the breeze, taste the rain, touch the trees, walk barefoot

and lie on the grass.

Close your eyes, take some deep breaths, and feel the energy: Bring your focus to your

foot and how it feels against the grass, and slowly follow that energy throughout your

body, feeling all your cells come alive and sparkle with life.

Visualize the energy running through your body from the earth and ground yourself.

By reconnecting to our Energy Body, we bring ourselves back down to Earth instead

of being in our racing and busy monkey minds all the time.

Negative Ions in Nature: Natural settings like forests, lakes, streams, and beaches

are teeming with plant life and water and thus rich in molecules called negative ions.

Although you cant see or smell them, negative ions are known to boost mood and enhance energy,

which can help alleviate depression and anxiety and calm us down.

Forest Bathing: Forest bathing originated in Japan and provides evidence that a slow,

relaxed walk in the woods has measurable restorative and calming benefits.

Utilize Imagination: When outdoors, let children follow their own intuition and have fun climb

hills, jump puddles, and stop to look at things more closely.

Allow them to PLAY and encourage questions and possible answers, making a note to look

up items together, once home.

Be childlike and curious alongside them.

Use your imagination.

Have a sense of wonder and investigate nature as if you are seeing things for the first

time.

(Some of you may be!)

Nature Spot: Have family members designate their own special spot where they can visit

to find peace and reconnect.

Observe and discuss how it changes according to the light, season, temperature, and bugs,

birds, or other aspects nearby.

Do a family meditation, tell stories, or utilize everyones imagination to bring it to life

differently on each visit.

Encourage sharing within the group to enhance everyones creativity.

High-tech Nature: Use technology to engage kids.

Geocaching is a new fun way to engage the family in the great outdoors think of

it as Scavenger Hunting 2.0.

Use a cellphone or camera to record nature sounds or a nature activity and have the kids

share how they feel, what they see, and what they learn.

Download a digital nature guide and follow it together.

There are many wonderful and innovative ways we can make sure we get our regular dose of

Vitamin N. How do you do it?

Please comment and share your tips below.

4 Spiritual Healing Techniques I Use To Help Treat My Depression - Duration: 5:18.

4 Spiritual Healing Techniques I Use To Help Treat My Depression

Being sad is not easy.

Being diagnosed as depressed is even worse.

When I first was diagnosed with depression in the Fall of 2011, I was just a 18-year-old

kid starting out her journey as a freshman in college.

I was in my dream university away from home with a partial scholarship and dreams as big

as anyone elses.

I had nothing to be depressed about but I fell into it.

After suffering from emotions of loneliness, anxiety, helplessness, and much seclusion,

I finally sought help.

It was only about 2 weeks into these feelings that I visited my schools mental health

office, but I had no idea of what I was getting into.

Once I received my diagnosis, I accepted the fact that I needed to start attending both

individual and group therapy sessions.

Having attended therapy for about 2 years, I knew that getting control of my mental health

was not the finish line.

I learned that depression was a lifelong battle and that just like an addiction, relapsing

was always a possibility.

Because of this, I adopted four spiritual healing techniques to assist me in both times

of need and my daily routine.

Amethyst Healing Gemstones

This is a fairly recent technique I have tried.

Having gone through a major surgery where three benign tumors were removed from my abdomen

this past January, the state of my physical health had a major strain on my mental health.

Two amethyst stones were given to me by my grandmother.

I began rubbing these two stones on each side of my head (respectfully) every time I felt

my anxiety kicking in at home for a few minutes.

Slowly but surely they helped ease the mental strain I was going through.

I also have an amethyst bracelet I wear.

Incense Sticks

Sometimes the most relaxing place to be is in our home.

Whether it be a long day of work, or just the general comfort of being in your home,

being inside the four walls that you call your own is the best place to be.

When you deal with mental health issues however, sometimes they can make you feel even more

alone.

That is why aromatherapy was a great therapy technique for me.

Whenever I feel like my emotions are getting to be too much and I am at home, I alternate

between burning incense sticks and lighting candles to ease my anxieties.

Meditation Books

As a precautionary measure, I enjoy reading meditation books and articles that help guide

me during my meditation practices.

While I have electronic media to help guide my meditation, I find that reading helps present

everything from a stronger perspective.

This is also a way to get mindfulness thinking in your day if you have the schedule that

allows you to read bits and pieces.

Mindful Eating

Eating three meals a day is both important and recommended, but how many times do we

eat one of these meals interrupted by the time constraints of the day, or events up

ahead?

After realizing, this I adopted a mindful eating diet.

I eat between 5 to 6 times a day and proportion out my meals to both healthy and equal amounts

each time.

This gives me both something to look forward to and be thankful for.

With a more balanced eating schedule, I am also able to appreciate each and every piece

of my meal and practice mindfulness while doing so, both through scanning my body and

examining my five senses while I eat my meal.

In addition, I drink natural and organic teas.

While these techniques have helped maintain a healthy battle with depression, they are

ultimately techniques that can be used by anyone to be in touch with both their spiritual

and

mental health.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) CLIP | 'S.H.I.E.L.D.- HYDRA.It All Goes' Scene | HD - Duration: 4:12.

He said peace wasn't an achievement,

it was a responsibility.

See, it's stuff like this that gives me trust issues.

We have to stop the launch.

I don't think the Council's accepting my calls any more.

What's that?

Once the helicarriers reach 3,000 feet,

they'll triangulate with Insight satellites, becoming fully weaponised.

We need to breach those carriers

and replace their targeting blades with our own.

One or two won't cut it.

We need lo link all three carriers for this to work,

because if even one of those ships remains operational,

a whole lot of people are gonna die.

We have to assume everyone aboard those carriers is HYDRA.

We have to get past them, insert these server blades.

And maybe, just maybe we can salvage what's left...

We're not salvaging anything.

We're not just taking down the carriers, Nick.

We're taking down S.H.I.E.L.D.

S.H.I.E.L.D. had nothing to do with this.

You gave me this mission. This is how it ends.

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s been compromised. You said so yourself.

HYDRA grew right under your nose and nobody noticed.

Why do you think we're meeting in this cave? I noticed.

How many paid the price before you did?

Look, I didn't know about Barnes.

Even if you had, would you have told me?

Or would you have compartmentalised that, too?

S.H.I.E.L.D., HYDRA,

it all goes.

He's right.

Don't look at me.

I do what he does, just slower.

Well...

It looks like you're giving the orders now, Captain.

We looked for you, after.

My folks wanted to give you a ride to the cemetery.

I know, I'm sorry. I just kind of wanted to be alone.

How was it?

It was okay.

She's next to Dad.

I was gonna ask...

I know what you're gonna say, Buck. I just...

We can put the couch cushions on the floor

like when we were kids.

It'll be fun. All you got to do is shine my shoes,

maybe take out the trash.

Come on.

Thank you, Buck, but I can get by on my own.

The thing is, you don't have to.

I'm with you to the end of the line, pal.

He's gonna be there, you know.

I know.

Look, whoever he used to be and the guy he is now,

I don't think he's the kind you save.

He's the kind you stop.

I don't know if I can do that.

Well, he might not give you a choice.

He doesn't know you.

He will.

Gear up. It's time.

You gonna wear that?

No. If you're gonna fight a war, you got to wear a uniform.

Oh, man.

I am so fired.(CoolestClips4K)

How To STOP PROCRASTINATING & End Procrastination - Duration: 8:59.

Dan we got to film - five more minutes five more minutes okay we'll get back to

work I'm enjoying something here (Dan it's your 5th beer!) five more beer minutes five more minutes and

we'll get to it okay so we've all had this experience right where you know

there's something you should be doing but it's so painful even if it's

something small like dealing with an accounting issue or sending an email

response for whatever reason you really don't want to do it and so you find a

way to do anything but that one task that is called procrastination and the

reason procrastination is so bad is that it's not like you just take longer to do

this one task but you waste all this time in the middle right because it's

not just that this task isn't getting done but all the time in the middle is

usually wasted it's very rare that when we procrastinate we enjoy it we say all

right you know what I'm going to delay this I'm going to go to the beach hang

out for the day okay we do procrastinate that way too but generally the

procrastination I'm talking about is when you're sitting at the computer

you're kind of checking and rechecking emails and different things doing odds

and ends but really getting nothing done and I want to go through in this video

some solutions and tips on how to prevent and overcome procrastination so

let's start with in the moment you're sitting there it's 2 p.m. the last hour

you have been wasting perhaps you have that after lunch Lo and there's a task

you're just not doing what do you do how do you break out of that state well the

good news and bad news here the bad news is that I have no easy solution or trick

for you in terms of just boom magically like you're able to get back to work

right but there's a few things you can do one is changing your state and so

when you're sitting there and you're in this email checking mode or social media

just procrastination hell right is you need to break that and one way to do it

is by changing your body and so you can do this different ways you can get up

and jump around your apartment put on some music you can get up and go for a

walk one of the things that I find can be quite helpful is when I am in this

procrastination mode it's just to accept it embrace it and go

to something else for a bit right so if I bite it it tends to get worse and keep

fighting me back where if I just accept it and say you know what I'm going to go

for a walk and at least make good use of this time because sitting on Facebook or

whatever I don't really do Facebook but sitting checking whatever reading some

news is not going to serve me so let's go for a walk at least get some Sun meet

a friend something like that to at least break my state and get out of that and

then maybe come back and make the most of it on this note as well if you end up

wasting a whole day due to procrastination and hopefully by the end

of this video that's not going to happen too much but if you do find yourself

basically wasting the whole day come evening time you're faced with that

question of you go out and meet your friends would you go for dinner or do

you stay home and get that work done because you didn't do it during the day

personally I'm going to add the kit of writing the day off and saying you know

what I'm in a bad headspace today that was a big screw-up but it's done let's

go out and recharge and for me one of the reasons I do this is I know that

human contact is quite important for me so that one of the causes of my

procrastination can often be that I've just been at home working for too long

or not out with friends and so continuing to delay going out with

friends or having fun which usually serves as a reset and then I'm really

productive the next day if I avoid that because I procrastinated then it just

makes the problem worse and the next day is going to be much less productive

right so all this aside the best way to deal with procrastination is a

preemptive strike deal with it before it comes up and there are two categories

for doing this that I really recommend you take action on the first of how you

set up your day now traditionally there's this belief of eat the Frog I

think Brian Tracy wrote some cheesy self-help book on this do the hardest

thing in the day first and this is the classic 1950s self-help advice that

sometimes is useful and for some people but generally doesn't have a lot of

merit and what I think is a much better approach to starting your day is pick

the thing that is fun and enjoyable but it's also very important for your

business so that could be filming videos it could be writing it could

the marketing if you enjoy that or meeting with clients whatever it is that

you enjoy and also contributes a lot to your bottom line take that for the

beginning of the day and some magical things will start to happen so you get

up and you spend your first two hours doing this enjoyable / productive /

profit driving activity and what happens after that is you start to feel really

good about yourself right because you've got this important thing done arguably

and often the most important thing you need to do all day if I spend the first

two hours of my day writing even if I screw the rest up it's still a pretty

good day I'm pretty happy with it I'm not going to beat myself up so first off

you've got enough done that you're feeling pretty good already you've also

taken the pressure off yourself for being productive that day right because

you already got some stuff done you feel pretty good you go into the afternoon

and then you can deal with the odds and end the other stuff that you might

normally procrastinate or those other tasks and you'll be in a better

headspace because you've done something you've enjoyed you're going to be

feeling good about that also just you would have enjoyed it so you're going to

be feeling a bit happier for the day and then when you go into the afternoon and

you have to do the work you don't enjoy as much or you might be putting off

you're going to be in a much better place to actually just power through

that and get it done so we talked about dealing with procrastination in the

moment we talked about on a daily planning basis and now I want to talk

about it life wise in terms of life design and as you probably know I'm a

big advocate of life design I have my teaching a life design approach and this

is all based on building your life around you and your personality type and

your strengths so that you don't have to do too many things that involve

procrastination so the ability to serve in the short term get through things if

you have a something come up that you would usually procrastinate you have it

come up here and they're odds and end it's not a big deal to get through but

if it's coming up everyday all the time that's going to beat your soul down and

it's going to be tough to get done so what I would suggest is finding a

pursuit a job a business whatever it is where the majority of your work is

actually things you enjoy things that you're not going to procrastinate at

least not very often and within that find ways to outsource

or eliminate the work don't like doing that much so I've done

this in my own business as much as possible we're either between hiring

people but more often just eliminating the work I don't want to do the things

that I don't do well or I procrastinate I basically just don't do and it's

different ways you can do that but there's basically changing your business

model right change what you offer change how you work and that way you're not

necessarily going to have to do these things that you hate doing so pulling

back at your life and taking an inventory over the week okay what are

the things I procrastinator what did I hate doing and then looking to eliminate

those or hire someone to help you for them and you've probably heard the

argument for hiring like a virtual assistant or someone like that before

and the main benefit of it isn't just that let's say your time is worth $30 an

hour and you hire someone for $10 an hour right that's part of it but if you

hire someone to do the tasks and it should take one hour it will probably

take them one hour but if it's a task you hate doing and you try to do it

yourself it will probably take you three hours or four hours because we'll be all

this procrastination and dread time built-in with it so for me and my own

experience hiring people to do the stuff that I Chen tend to procrastinate or get

a hind on has been a total GameChanger and I would recommend looking at that as

well when you basically break down a week or a month and look at hey where do

I procrastinate where does this come in and then think long term about how you

can actually eliminate that from your day-to-day life so yes I know that video

wasn't like three easy tips to stop procrastination right away but if you

know me you know that I tend to focus on the bigger picture and sustainable

changes right instead of using some little hack to stop procrastination one

day why not make the bigger changes in how you set up your days and how you set

up your life so you don't even run into procrastination nearly as much and with

that said I know in order to act on this advice you need probably more more

content or advice getting into like how do you actually outsource or break down

the things you procrastinate and eliminate them and that's where

subscribing to the channel comes in because I will have more content coming

up over these topics over the coming months in terms of life's design and

dealing with procrastination and eliminating stuff you don't like to do

and all that so be sure to subscribe and catch you in another video soon

to South Africa. I have been here for about a year and it

has been a fantastic year. I have found so much about

this country to love - from surf lessons in Cape Town,

to the perfect bunny chow in Durban and game drives in

Madikwe. One of the things I have also fallen in love

with is the rich art scene here in South Africa,

particularly the theatre arts. I am a huge fan and in

fact, tonight I am on my way to Soweto, to the Soweto

Theatre to see The House of Truth. See you there!

This is the Soweto Theatre and tonight we are going to see

The House of Truth. Soweto Theatre is one of Joburg's

most interesting theatres and for me theatre is truly

a part of who I am, truly of how I grew up. I grew up in

New York City, so Jozi makes sense - it's got a similar

energy to New York. New York let me have a childhood of

theatre: Broadway, off-Broadway, off-off

Broadway - all of it. And so one of the best parts of

living in South Africa is that I continue to enjoy

myself as a theatergoer. But even better than that is the

role that I can play with my colleagues at the U.S.

Mission in support of South African arts. We provide

support to the arts across a range of genre but

particularly most excitingly for me, the theatre arts.

Last year, I was really honored to accept on behalf

of the U.S. Mission, an award from Basa, Business

Arts South Africa. The award was nominated by the storied

Market Theatre and was for the entirety of the work

that the U.S. Mission does to support arts in South

Africa. It was really an inspiring reminder of the

power of art to impact us - to impact us as individuals

but also as nations. It reminds us that art can

bring us together, prompt us to think about where we have

come from but also where we want to go.

Looks like its time to go in, so I better head in.

See you after the show!

Wow! What an amazing, beautiful production. I just

talked to Nomsa, the executive director of the

Soweto Theatre and also an alumni of the U.S.

Government Fulbright Exchange Program. It was a

terrific play relying on an extraordinary writer, actor

and director.

BEST OF MALAYSIA AND SINGAPOUR | Alex & MJ - On the GO - Duration: 1:31.

I do not know if you remember but,

when we saw Singapore for the first time from our window in the plane,

you were pretty excited.

Yes! Because finally I was going to make you discover Asia

and make you taste the, oh so delicious, street food!

It's really special when you step on a new continent for the first time.

For me, Singapore and Malaysia represent the first time I put foot on

the Asian territory.

A continent that is rich in history and culture

and where wealth and poverty have been co-living together for decades.

And me well, even though I had been to Asia before,

I had never visited these two countries.

I discovered new things and rediscovered what I loved so much about it the first time.

FRUIT OF THE VINE AND ROSEMARY BREAD - Duration: 5:50.

Hi I'm Steve Owens and welcome to Steve's kitchen. Now one of the things I love to

do is bake but one other thing I love even more than that

is to taste and experiment with food. Recently I bought

a Rosemary and vine fruit bloomer from a

local bakers and it is just delicious, so today I'm going to share with you the

recipe, you really should try this

it's fantastic come on let me show you how

Now when you're making bread it really is important to weigh things out rather

than to use cups it's far more accurate

I've got 350 grams that's twelve ounces of a bread flour or strong flour in a bowl

I've got a hundred grams of rye flour that's about three and a half ounces

and pop that in there as well I have a hundred grams of mixed grain now in

here we've got

oatmeal wheat berries and some semolina but you can use

any whole grains you like this is going to give a lovely nutty texture to the bread

a couple of teaspoons of salt little bit more than most but it does enhance the

flavor

now I'm using instant dry yeast here if you use regular yeast you may have to

activate it as the packet says

just pop that away from the salt I've got some warm water three hundred

milliliters

just going to pour that in and I'm going to start the process with a fork I'm just

going to

blend this together this just keeps your hands clean really at the beginning of

the mixing process

and once that's started to bind together I'm going to get my hands in there now

and draw this together into a dough. Now as that dough starts to come together it

will be quite sticky

we're going to bring it out onto our counter now for sure

if you have a dough hook and a stand mixer please feel free to use it I

prefer to do this by hand I just like the feel

of the dough now I'm going to start kneading this I'm stretching it out

until I get a lovely elastic dough so I'm just using the palm of my hand to push

it out and stretch the gluten

now expect the dough at this point to be fairly sticky but as you work it

and we going to do this for about 10 minutes you'll start to get less

stickiness and a beautiful silky texture

Now after just 10 minutes of kneading I've added no extra water or flour into

that

we've got this wonderful elastic dough and if you stretch that round like that there's

got a lovely spring back

the other reason for doing it by hand of course is we all need a bit of

exercise

in our life. Now fresh rosemary I want you to take

a tablespoon and a half of fresh chopped up rosemary

just pop it on to your bread pull that out a little bit like that because I'm

taking a hundred grams thats three-and-a-half ounces

of plump sultanas and just popping it on there as well

and then what we want to do is fold these into the bread

and another few minutes just to make sure they're fully incorporated

into the bread and now I've got that beautifully incorporated into the bread

I'm just going to take that up, I've got my bowl here again we'll take a little bit of

olive oil

and pop are dough in there and just coated over with the oil

then we want to cover that with a damp cloth and leave it somewhere warm for an

hour

or at least until its doubled in size

now my dough has taken about an hour to rise it's beautiful there were just going to

knock this down now

knock the air back out of it then I'm going to lift this dough

out onto my work surface. Just going to put a light dusting of flour

underneath I'm just going to roll this up

nice and tight take a cutter

and just divide the dough into two pieces we're going to get two loaves out of this

now I'm just going to ease this out into a sausage shape

and then I'm just going to use my hands and just pull the dough

around nice and tight like that and then the same again

with the second one so we end up with two beautiful plump

little loaves like that then I'm just going to lay these

out onto a baking tray I'm going to cover these over with a damp cloth

I'm going to leave them in a warm area until they've plumped up almost doubled in size

maybe about 30 minutes

now look at those they risen beautifully now I've preheated an oven to 190

degrees Celsius thats 375 fahrenheit

I'm going to bake these for about 25-35 minutes just keep an eye on them

before they go in I'm just going to take a sharp knife and just

these are bloomers after all, I'm just going to cut a few lines

across the Bloomers to allow them to open up as they bake

now they're ready to go in the oven

now look at those they've just come out of the oven

they are piping hot we need to leave them to completely cool down the smell

coming off there

is just delicious. Now I'm so impatient they haven't quite cooled down yet but I'm

going to have a piece they smell delicious

and what better way to serve them than with a farmhouse cheddar

and an Australian Merlot I'm just going to pour myself a little bit now

take a slice of this bloomer

lovely and crisp can you hear that?

I'm going to take a piece of this cheddar

it's crumbly and cheers here's to your health

Bon Apetit here goes ahh

that never ceases to amaze me just how good that is the combination of the

rosemary

and the sultanas you really have to give this a try please

share the love give this one the thumbs up. What are you still doing here? you

should be off

making this loaf be good I'll see you in the next video

cheers

Manejar tu PC Windows en modo espejo sin cables desde teléfonos Android - Duration: 3:13.

hello friends today we will see an application to manage a Windows PC remotely

through our wireless network using our android phone

we need to install the application pcremote on the PC that we will control and our

android device as we see also is compatible with Windows Phone devices

here we need net gets below 4.0 I I have it installed but if we do not

'running the application installed it

so we download the PC application and install any application

install and then clicking finish You should now see a window firewall

Windows does not ask permission for the application access to the network if you have

another firewall installed then you will leave the window as your firewall and here we are

It appears to choose the type of network you have configured whether public or private usually

it's private

we ask restart the program if I will not do to continue the video

well if so it does not show us this Windows Firewall window or not we

marking the appropriate box either private or public can access the firewall

windows from the control panel firewall Windows and pulsarmos to allow a program

a feature of Windows Firewall and we seek the application in this case

It called pc remote server and as we see here I have unchecked public networks is

as you configure the pop-up window of before

We save changes and now in the program we go to hostspots and appears below us

sinos the password by default calls for password the phone as we introduce

the password and click on start hostspots on the phone then click on get started

We already did all the configuration steps and here should apparate our pc so

click on it and already we would have connected

You have many options but we will see only some that I think are the most interesting

We can handle the pc using the screen our phone like a mouse

and also from the box above we can put the words you want and also

We have a keyboard with keys like Control alt or shift escape

From the option below handle audio PC volume up or letting it down

silent

we can see what happens on the screen putting mirror mode PC screen has a

small delay will increase if we are far from the router so we

be close to work properly

We can turn off the screen or even turn it on we can restart the PC, to start as

the program runs at the beginning back to be connected without touching

the pc for anything

If copmpramos the pro version can also access our pc via internet

good friends I hope you have served this tutorial See you in another video soon
