Picking me up this kind of stuff. Let's get rid of that today. It's called the lumen top. That's right. It's a tool

That takes double-a batteries, and it's a flashlight guys. That's right. I have a problem. I'm addicted to flashlights

I thought I had this thing beat. You know I was never gonna buy another flashlight

I didn't need another flashlight, and then this comes along and just take one gander at this

I mean look at that isn't that nice, it's

Packaged so beautifully ok so here's the here's the flashlight itself comes with a fancy little lanyard that

Could go on your smartphone could go on your on your portable camera

I could you know it just looks like they kind of repurpose some things here

But small little double-a battery goes inside of here

there's a

different kind of cap that you can put on the end so you can make it a little bit smaller as you can see and

Comes with some additional earrings, and there's a whole bunch of stuff in here that we'll get to and but right now

Let's get to the specs

Overall length three and a half inches in its standard configuration its diameter is only three quarters of an inch

it weighs in at

One in five eighths ounces with the battery installed the tail switch controls three modes

low

Medium and oh my gosh with the included alternative battery compartment cap it's only three and eight inches

The alternative tail cap is magnetic which can come in real handy

It's made of an aircraft grade aluminum alloy very tough

It even comes with a couple of extra o rings it utilizes a cree xpl HD LED with a lifespan of

50,000 hours it comes with this great little belt clip that can be reversed and used as a bill clip on your cap

Alrighty, then as many of you know I am a sucker for

Flashlights and what attracted me to this one particularly was its price. He was under $20 when I bought it

I'll put a link down below where you can pick yourself up one you can check out the price down there and

all aluminum waterproof and

A double-a battery was all that was needed for it to work and in fact. That's

It does as stated now. It does say that it has 550 lumens, but as I look at the

specifications in the instruction manual

It's when it's using the 14500

lithium-ion rechargeable

Battery that's when you get that 550 lumens an alkaline battery is going to give you a hundred and ten lumens a nickel metal hydride

120 lumens so I'm gonna go outside and test this thing realizing that it's probably because it's got the alkaline batteries in there only

110 lumens

And because I don't have a 14500 battery

I won't be able to test it at 550 lumens, but maybe I'll get myself one of those batteries try it out

And we'll do another review on it, but let's just do it as it came with battery installed before I do go outside though

I love reading these things especially

When they're trying to transliterate from Chinese into English so for example it says for battery replacement

Unscrew the light head or tail cap to insert the battery with the anode side plus

The light head then screw the head or tail cap back on they did quite well

They're trying to transliterate that thing from Chinese into English

Where they really kind of botched it up was under the warnings, which that's probably more important

If long time no use the light

Please take out the battery to prevent damage from battery leakage so it's kind of plenty how that thing gets transliterated

But it's the last one number three in case of damage to the flashlight

Please do not use different brands types or capacity batteries at the same time

Guys it only holds one double-a. How're you gonna put more than one battery in here at once alright?

Alright, so now. We've got the flashlight right here and shooting kids got an ancillary flashlight that we've been using, but there's

This seems to work pretty well

Guess it works pretty good as a flashlight and a little power from the ocean for doing video, but again

It's not the rechargeable batteries

And I think the rechargeable batteries were supposed to be the ones that give us the 550 lumens as it is right now

Well that's low power, that's medium power, and that's you know peel your eyes back our

Right that's pretty bright. Yeah, but we are pretty close

shooting kids gonna walk down to the corner of our property and then use

the night Neuman

First then use the lumen top

Next okay, you're ready to their shooting kid

It's not as bright as thirteen hundred lumens less what that night Newman is

And it's nowhere near 500 lumens not with this battery

It does work pretty well though. However for short distances and just lighting the path, which is really good

And it is a very small little flashlight do like that but doggone it

I wish I had the rechargeable lithium-ion

Batteries that I could test this out on I'll have to get those and do a test night later. Okay. Let's go back inside

Well there you go great little flashlight

It is by far the smallest one that I own that has quite a bit of light capacity

Available to it. I have a couple of double-a battery sized flashlights

But they're a little bit bigger around this one's only three-quarter inches around very small very tuckable available in the pocket

I like the fact that it came with a magnetic cap that you can put on there

What happens with that is you know? There's no switch?

You know that you can control light with but what can happen is?

It's when you unscrew it and screw it back in you can get you different modes

And you're just kind of half-cock it to get it

Off the problem with that is because it's supposed to be waterproof when you have cock it

It's no longer going to be waterproof so be careful with that so if you're going to use this

battery cap because it does it does offer magnetic capabilities put it on and

Snap it on wherever you need that thing to be mounted and go for it

It does stand up quite well all by itself on the tailpiece

I do like the fact that it does have some protection to that switch

So it doesn't accidentally get pushed, and you can stand it up if you want to so there's always that okay?

and let's not forget the Handy case that it comes in it's got a little magnetic clasp that keeps things closed and

Won't fall out of there and then one undocumented feature about this thing

Here's that magnetic cap we talked about this cover for that cap is

Diffuser so when you hit the light you get this nice soft

Diffused light that you can use

In dark situations where you don't want to have a miss a big ol blooming beam or anything and then when you turn it off

It glows in the dark, so it's easy to find the flashlight in case you drop it and turn it off alright

love the fact that it's got a

Reversible clip you can put it on the other side

I put it on the bill of your cap so that you can see in front of you

And it was under 20 bucks at least when I bought it

I suggest take a look buy yourself one because I have a feeling these things are gonna go up in price

i'm Kenny Kolka K&D Livestock it's a family ranch there'd be four

generations of us with counting the little guys my son his family my folks

i've been here all my life we have over eight thousand acres of

deeded land we run five hundred and fifty cows they have have helped us a

lot we were working with them on livestock water pipelines cross fencing

and grazing rotation we was on a Great Plains program back in the 80s the Great

Plains conservation program was one of the major NRCS conservation programs

nationwide all through the 60s 70s 80s and probably ended about 1990 or shortly

thereafter NRCS strategically locates facilities

like this to improve the distribution of our grazing animals cattle are typically

a lazy species that would not necessarily distribute themselves across

the landscape and utilize the grasses evenly and so what we do with a facility

like this is we try to place it strategically to get better use of areas

that weren't historically used and to take pressure off the areas that the

cattle did prefer

this tank which is customary for our jobs is outfitted with a what we call

a wildlife escape ramp so if an animal gets in the tank it's going to run into

this ramp where it can climb up and escape the tank before it drowns it's

good for the animals but it's also good for the quality of the water in the

tank because if those small animals get in and drown and you don't find them for

a few days in hot weather there's a lot of bacteria that gets in

the water and it doesn't bode well for the livestock back in 2011 there was an

unusual amount of rain in Powder River County and a lot of areas the

water table rose considerably so there was a special initiative through EQIP

to move feed lots if they needed to be moved out of drainage areas I seen an ad

in the Broadus paper that I called the NRCS about that we had a feedlot we'd

like to move the NRCS cost-shared for us to move it from a creek bottom that was

by the house to a better place here their feedlot and where they fed calves

in the winter was pretty close to the creek over there it was very muddy it

was a spring even where we worried about cattle getting bogged down we had

abandoned it because the water table had raised it was a detriment manure runoff

from the corrals running into the creek as well as detriment to the calves

themselves or their health-wise because it was just turned into a big swamp this

vegetative treatment area what it does is filter out the manure and any of the

excess nutrients or sediment or whatever from the manure will be filtered as it

runs us that vegetative treatment area and so

any water at the bottom should be fairly clean if there is even any that gets to

the bottom that will go into the creek below which is much cleaner

environmentally-wise Kolkas pretty much did all the work on on this whole

project themselves from the stream crossing that's down there on the road

he did all the dirt work and everything to building the pens

it's it's all steel so that hopefully it'll be here a long time this is

another project we did as part of this feedlot operation their main well was is

over back behind the buildings there and we either had the option of running a

pipeline from there over to here or to put a separate well with a solar system

here we try to give alternatives with the best cost alternative and the best

energy efficiency the landowner wanted to optimize grazing and still have a

good stand of trees that potentially could provide marketable lumber in the

future the main objective of from an agency standpoint would be this the

health of the trees and the sustainability of owning the land but I

think there was actually 240 live trees in this radius in 2009 before the

treatment it was just too dense in fact when I counted the trees I mean I I

would literally be crawling around in this

I just noticed what a diverse community there's there's lots of brush here

there's a skunk Bush sumac blue grasses Green needle grass growing

up in the stand of trees because we've opened it up enough to let the sun and

the moisture come in one thing that's been really nice over the years with

working with Kolkas once you present them with a design or a job sheet or

specs they will do that project as close to the specs as you can get and they're

just really easy to work with that way they were very good to work with they

were eager to get the job done NRCS helped us a lot they helped us get

started there's a big help

We're still figuring things out and getting settled

but there are a couple SPECIFIC things Boomer's been having trouble with...

Going to the ward office... and getting everything set

But one specific thing that we haven't set up yet,

I DON'T HAVE a PHONE :(

Back in the Dark Ages!!

What can I do? L: what CAN you do?!

Look for WiFi??

I've been to cafes and other spots where you think you found some WiFi

but sometimes it can be really tricky to set up WiFi in Japan

because there are so many specific steps

but I have a SPECIFIC Wifi that I just tried out

that I think you're really going to like

because it's easy to use and all over Tokyo.

So I want to see if we can use that today

WHILE you find us a date spot!

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!!

Yeah, so we're looking for a date spot,

then we're looking for WiFi

AND we're going to have some fun while doing it!

Boomer just moved to Japan,

but he still doesn't have a phone plan

So it's been a bit of a struggle the last few days

trying to find places where he can actually connect

But there's an English-friendly network called Free Wi-Fi &Tokyo

that told me about their new service

so before hitting the city I'm showing Boomer

How he can easily set it up now.

1st we went online to see where the WiFi hotspots are

The blue spots are where you register for the service

and the green spots are service partners where you will connect automatically afterwards.

To connect you first find one of blue Free Wi-Fi&Tokyo

spots on the map and head there

You'll find an information stand

where you can sign in using your phone, a browser,

or the QR code which is posted there!

Next you connect using your email or your favorite SNS

Then you're connected and ready to go!

That's when we got back to enjoying our date in the city!
