Hi Qlafers, back with me again, Vi!
I will review this new - fresh from the oven model kit.
This is 1/100 MG Heavy Arms Custom by Supernova!
What?
This is a Heavy Arms by Supernova?
Bandai had released this kit. Bit it was under P-Bandai.
So it's not sold freely outside Japan.
It's not sold in Indonesia.
So it's hard for us to get the P Bandai version.
If there's any, the price is ulously high.
So, this is a bootleg version of the P Bandai Heavy Arms.
So what's it like? Let's take a look!
About the looks of it... Bootleg kit often looks better compared with Bandai...
This is because bootleg kit don't comply with safety rule of any country.
For example, any sharp parts...
They can make it freely (without complying with any safety regulation)
If it is Bandai, they won't make it, because of that safety regulation.
Because as we know, Gunpla is still categorized as toys for underage children.
This supernova kit looks so dashing and premium!
All the details and parts are shockingly neat.
The quality is the same with Bandai's (or maybe better)
The plastic quality is different compared with other bootleg kit.
The quality is excellence. Is more forgiving? It's slightly softer and flexible than Bandai's
You must becareful with this softer material. It can reduce stressmark...
but also it's prone to dent if it's hit hard by other part or fall to the ground and hit the side angle.
Not so many panel lining detail found...
Only few panel line shows a little bit accent on the parts.
although there's not many panel line, it's perfect for me...
it's not to crowded.
The V Fin is originaly sharp. So we don't need to sharpen it.
because of the magnificent detail, this kit is undoubtedly a great one!
The color is also great!
There's a green and tosca green color separation at the torso.
and other complementary colors such as yellow, grey, and lavender look so fitted on this kit.
Detail will look better if we repaint certain parts...
for example, the mask is still plain. We can add color and panel lining...
i'm sure it will make it better.
this multiple will be better if we repaint it to red.
the gatling guns are mostly in greyish color. Not so cool for me...
add more weathering and it'll be great.
what's exciting is...if we look a this area, the tosca green detail...
Bandai usually make this green tosca accent as sticker. But here, they are all separate parts.
so the colour is really nice!
About articulation, this review uses 1st batch, so inside the box we've got 4 gatling guns.
if all the gatling guns are mounted, the articulation can be very limited.
but if we release them. The movement will be more free.
let's take a look of the articulation without these gatling guns!
Head articulation is okay. Becareful with the V fin and antennae, they are thin.
arm joint is okay. It's sometimes blocked by the backpack arm extension though...
pull the arm extension a little bit so it won't hit the shoulder.
I'm taking off the backpack...
The arm extension is only 180º
I think the arm joint is the best. It can handle the big gatling gun without slacking.
the are stiff enough that we can choose any angle of the arm while holding the gatling gun.
usually if the arm joint is not good, it can't hold any big weapon (for example barbatos lupus rex)
I don't know about the long term though...
We can open the should part one by one...
The chest can be opened too...
The pilot cockpit also can be opened. Sadly the pilot figure is not included, so it's empty.
skirts can be swiveled...
same with the side skirt...
the back skirt too...
each of the leg can turn 90º up and the front skirt is not blocking...
not much movement on the sole...
multiple rocket launcher can be opened like this...
just look at the detail, the middle of this rocket launcher is two separate parts...
the joints of this kit are very tight. You won't feel any fear to move any of its limb...
It's sturdy...it can stand up with one try !
Bootleg kit typically very weak.
but this kit is very sturdy. A rare breed.
While holding 2 gatling guns, it can still stand!
even while holding four gatling guns the balance is still good.
as I say earlier, the arm joint can withstand the gatling gun perfectly.
what makes the joint stiff is because the join part is not the usual PC part.. it's different.
usually PC part is soft.. this one is not. It's stiffer but in the same way rather flexible.
it's fun to assemble this kit!
why? Because for a bootleg kit, this one is easy and forgiving (wrong cut can be fixed easily).
even it's an easy kit. This is still a bootleg. If you don't have enough experience, part may be broken easily...
the plastic part is easily cut from the runner because most of them are undergates.
for you who don't know about 'undergate'. Undergate is....
the gate (plastic lane to the part) is under the part. It's not beside the part.
so it's easy to clean the part from any nubmarks.
if you get any nubmarks. It can be remove fast because the plastic material is soft.
So if you get any small nubmarks, rub it with your nail and it's magically not visible!
while building this kit, you'll be constantly amazed with the detail of the parts!
There is section that will make you confuse...
There is this page 6 of the manual book...
The "LEG" part J21 and J20 is different with the physical part you get.
also this part. H is not for leg. The correct one is "L", because "H" is for the head.
other than that, the manual book is fine.
I personally recommend this kit for those who love Wing series and love to repaint!
For this 1st batch of HeavyArms supernova, we've got 1 HeavyArms (obviosuly...haha)
4 gatling guns...
1..2...3...4 and gatling gun stand...
1 stand base, manual book, and decals (water + sticker)
Overall, this kit amazes me...
Great plastic quality, great detail, and with standbase bonus...
manual book is okay
Premium looks and you get 4 gatling guns for the 1st batch.
However, this is still a bootleg kit / a counterfeit kit.
don't expect the building experience is as smooth as Bandai's
Because if you build a Bandai kit, they prioritize the process first "fun to build".
bootleg kit only prioritize the end result. So it's pleasant for our eyes.
the building process sometimes is confusing.
If you've built a bootleg kit like this, share your experience down in the comment section!
