I am one of the Leuser Ecosystem rangers in Aceh

We work for the protection of wildlife

My team and I work to stop illegal activities in the forest

There are many poachers out there seeking a quick profit

It's a difficult time

But it is the last place on earth where orangutans

rhinos, elephants, and tigers live together in the wild

We have to protect these endangered species

It makes me so sad when they catch these animals in their traps

For example, this unlucky young elephant

It's really hard to look at it, but we have to face the reality

When we found it, the tusks were cut out

The poachers probably sold the ivory

Other animals, like this endangered Sumatran orangutan

are caught alive and sold as pets at local markets

Luckily, we are often able to find the traps before an animal is harmed

Then we destroy it and report the case to local authorities

so that they can arrest the poacher

Enforcement of wildlife crime is becoming

more frequent now

This year, our ranger teams were able

to find and destroy more than 200 traps

Our work in the forest is hard

We live outside for around two weeks at a time

often in heavy rain

We sleep in tents and cook our food on the fire

Sometimes the patrols are eve dangerous

Many poachers have a gun

Sometimes we had to flee and report a case to the police

My teams and I will continue our work to save the Leuser Ecosystem

and to protect the species in this wonderful place

But we will need more resources to be more effective

We needs better equipments and more teams patrolling

Bake a Delicious Chocolate Orange Cake

There are many different recipes that have one thing in common: exquisite flavor and an incomparable aroma.

Making a delicious orange and chocolate cake is easy and fun – all you need is a little creativity and the desire to bake something truly amazing. The combination of chocolate and orange is perfect in regard to flavor.

Whether it's a special celebration, Christmas, or a family snack, there will always be an occasion for this cake.

Orange cake with chocolate ganache.

Orange Cake Ingredients.

3 eggs (180 g) 2 cups of sugar (200 g) ¼ teaspoon of salt (2 g) 1 ½ cups of wheat flour (170 g) 1/3 cup of sunflower oil (80 ml) 1 package of yeast (10 g) 1 large orange (50 g).

Filling and chocolate ganache topping.

2 tablespoons of butter (30 g) 2 chocolate bars (200 g) 3 tablespoons of honey (30 g) 2 cups of reduced fat cream (200 ml).

Cake instructions.

First wash the orange well and slice it into pieces, leaving the peel on.

The sweeter the orange is, the better the cake will taste.

Mash the orange and add the eggs, sugar, and sunflower oil.

Blend them until you get a homogeneous mixture.

Pour this mixture into a large bowl and add the wheat flour, yeast, and salt.

Beat by hand until everything is well mixed.

Grease a cake pan with butter and pour in the batter.

Bake at 350 °F for 35 minutes. If you like, you can increase the heat to broil in order to lightly toast the top of the cake during its final minutes.

Chocolate ganache instructions.

Bring the cream, honey, and butter to a simmer in a small saucepan.

Add the chocolate bar that are cut into smaller pieces.

Stir and let this mixture sit until the chocolate has melted and all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

Once you have a homogeneous glaze, use the ganache as a filling or topping for the cake.

Chocolate orange cake.

Ingredients.

½ cup of sugar (50 g) 1 medium egg (60 g) ½ cup of milk (50 ml) 1 stick of butter (75 g) ½ cup of orange juice (50 ml) 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder (10 g) 1 cup of wheat flour (100 g) A pinch of baking powder.

Instructions.

Beat the butter and sugar in a bowl.

Add the egg and beat it until the sugar has dissolved.

Add the wheat flour and baking powder, continue mixing until you get a homogeneous batter.

Divide this mixture into two equal parts. Add the orange juice to one, and the milk and cocoa powder to the other. Mix well.

Grease a cake pan and add the two batters, swirling them together to achieve a marbled effect.

You can add chocolate chips or nuts if desired.

Bake at 375 °F for 40 minutes.

Orange marmalade chocolate cake.

Ingredients.

2 cups of sugar (200 g) 6 medium eggs (360 g) 1 teaspoon of vanilla (5 ml) 7 tablespoons of butter (150 g) 5 large cups of wheat flour (500 g) 1 tablespoon of baking powder (10 g) 2 cups of orange juice (200 ml) 1 teaspoon of orange zest (5 g) 1 cup of baking chocolate (130 g).

Instructions.

Melt the baking chocolate and set it aside.

Beat the butter and sugar together in a bowl until you get a creamy consistency.

Add the eggs one at a time while stirring constantly.

Mix the flour and baking powder, and add them to the egg mixture, alternating with orange juice.

Add the orange zest and vanilla.

Mix well until you get a homogeneous batter.

Set one cup of batter aside and mix with the melted chocolate.

Grease and flour a cake pan and add both mixtures, alternating and swirling them to achieve a marbled effect.

Bake for one hour at 350 °F.

The cake is done when you can insert a toothpick through the middle and it comes out clean.

This delicious orange and chocolate cake can be garnished with chocolate chips, whipped cream, and more.

the watch in the timekeeping mode by pressing few times on the mode button

until you see the digital time step number 2

hold the adjust button for a few seconds until you see SEC 00 flashing

now use the two buttons on the right side of the watch to move the second

hand to the zero mark that is vertically facing the top press mode once

and wait for the hands to move

once the hand stopped moving again use the two button on the right side to move

the time to 0.00 that is showing either midnight or noon time

when you're done press the adjust button once to return to the timekeeping mode

as you can see now both times are matching thank you for watching

My name is Rudi

I am an environmental activist from Sumatra, Indonesia

We have many natural disasters in recent years

Everyone here remembers flooding and landslides

in 2006 during the rainy season

The floodwater reached up to three meters

200,000 people had to be evacuated

The sad thing is: disasters like this are mostly man-made

Many companies and farmers illegally clear rainforest

in the Leuser Ecosystem and plant oil palm monocultures

The reason behind it is the demand for palm oil, rubber, cacao and gold

This destroys the habitat of wildlife such as the Sumatran orangutan

which is now on the edge of extinction

But the impact of the companies also destroy the habitat for us - the humans

Usually the rich rainforest act like a sponge

It soaks up the rain in the wet season

and releases the water slowly in the drier months

The oil palm monocultures don't serve this function

When the rainy season comes

water just comes down immediately as flash floods

and cause massive damage to homes schools, and our farms

Indonesia now has the highest deforestation rate in the world

We have to stop this destruction immediately

But, just stopping deforestation isn't enough, we need more reforestation

Since 2009, we have been working

to restore the forest in the Leuser Ecosystem

We were able

to achieve remarkable success

Within five years

we turned several oil palm plantations

back into healthy rainforests

This work involves a long and difficult process

It takes much time and energy before every reforestation

to ensure that communities and authorities

are involved and support us

Restoring the rainforest is essential to avoid floods

and it also protects the wildlife

It's essential for our own survival that we restore these forests

Here is common glasswort: Salicornia europaea.

It is a succulent plant, not a seaweed.

Family: Chenopodiaceae.

It is an annual plant which thrives in saline environments.

It filters salt water.

It grows in saline environments such as seacoasts and salt marshes.

The ascending and fleshy stalk supports sets of tiny opposed leaves.

It has various stems.

The flowers are tiny and change color during the blooming phase...

...turning yellow or reddish/purple.

Old stems turn into wood (lignification).

Glasswort is rich in oligoelements and minerals which are very important to our well-being.

Calcium, Zinc, Silicon, Manganese.

It is filled with vitamins: A, B, C, D.

It has a high amount of salt.

It has diuretic and depurative properties.

The best time to harvest grasswort is from May to June, when the shoots are still young.

Young shoots like these can be eaten as a salad...

...or cooked, adding olive oil.
