Trump seen to give stern warning to North Korea with Afghanistan bombing - Duration: 2:52.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un might be feeling slightly unnerved this afternoon,... due to

this development...

The United States has dropped a gigantic bomb on an ISIS target in eastern Afghanistan.

The U.S. used a weapon dubbed the "Mother Of All Bombs" ... the largest non-nuclear

bomb in Washington's military arsenal.

Damage from the bombing was not immediately known.

Park Jong-hong starts us off.

It's the first time the massive bomb has been used in conflict and President Trump hailed

it as a successful military mission.

He added that he was proud of the U.S. military for the attack on an Islamic State position

in eastern Afghanistan.

"We have incredible leaders in the military and we have an incredible military.

And we are very proud of them.

And this was another very, very successful mission."

He was referring to the single bombing attack using the GBU-43, the largest non-nuclear

bomb ever used by the U.S.

Also known as the "Mother Of All Bombs," the GBU-43 weighs nearly ten tons and is a GPS-guided

munition that can penetrate deep inside concrete or even a mountainside.

It was first tested in March 2003, just days ahead of the start of the Iraq war.

General John Nicholson, the head of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan, said

the bomb was used against caves and bunkers used by fighters of the Islamic State in Afghanistan,

also known as ISIS-K.

The White House said the tunnels and caves that ISIS fighters used to target U.S. military

advisers and Afghan forces in the area.

"The United States takes the fight against ISIS very seriously and in order to defeat

the group, we must deny them operational space, which we did."

Last week, in the same district as the bomb was dropped ... an American soldier was reportedly

killed while conducting operations against Islamic State.

The security situation in Afghanistan remains precarious.

A number of militant groups are still competing for territory more than 15 years after the

U.S. invasion that toppled the Taliban.

This latest military operation comes on the heels of the U.S. air strike on Syria last

week ... an mission conducted while President Trump was meeting with his Chinese counterpart,

Xi Jinping.

Some experts say Trump's unusual display of military might is intended to set himself

apart from his predecessors... in that he's capable of making strong decisions.

It's also seen as a stern warning against North Korea, which is reportedly on the verge

of conducting a nuclear test.
