Youtube daily report Apr 4 2017

Kinda wish I never had agreed to write a song with you

Some kind of sick experiment I swear to you I'm tormented too

Oh, please...

(he's so dramatic)

We haven't even started writing yet

Plus, you agreed

And you're always saying that you love me

Now you're stuck without a paddle up the creek

So take a seat

I was kind enough to let you come up with this melody

I even let you keep the emo chords even though they're depressing me

I'm sorry, honey

Please don't dump me

-So, you agree -Kinda wish I never had agreed to write a song with you

-and you're always saying that you love me -some kind of sick experiment I swear to you I'm tormented too

-So, you agree -Kinda wish I never had agreed to write a song with you

-to suck it up and sing this song with me -some kind of sick experiment I swear to you I'm tormented too

-So, you agree -So, I agree

-Yes, you agree -Yes, I agree

-Yes, you agree -Yes, I agree

We're just gonna keep it rolling

Let's see how awkward we can get

3.6. Stubbornness Vs. Conviction - Duration: 4:42.

What's the difference between stubbornness and conviction?

It's something worth thinking about.

We rightly admire people who stay strong in the conviction of their beliefs,

even amidst all the social pressures compelling them to act otherwise.

And we rightly decry stubborn people who made up their minds a long time ago,

and refuse like spoiled children to accept anything less than 100 percent of what they want.

But, superficially, these two states look very similar.

It's not a coincidence that people genuinely full of conviction

are constantly accused of being stubborn, selfish, and unreasonable.

And it's not a coincidence that people genuinely full of stubbornness usually fail to recognize it—

because they've grandiosely cloaked themselves in the fantasy of heroically standing up for their convictions.

It's a big problem.

And not just because stubborn people on the wrong side of progress get in the way of it.

Even stubborn people on the right side of progress tend to impede it—because stubbornness

leads to very different mentalities, approaches, and strategies than genuine conviction.

The big difference, as I see it, is in the degree of openness.

Stubbornness has a way of making you feel like you're standing up…when, in fact, you're running away.

From reality.

From complexity.

From your own limitations.

From being inconvenienced by the beliefs of others.

From having to listen and engage in good faith.

There comes a point—when you really take seriously moral, intellectual, and social issues—

when you inevitably get fed up with the slow pace of progress.

You feel like you have a good grasp on what's right.

You feel like your position is what any reasonable person would arrive at,

if they put as much effort into pondering it as you have.

Yet you keep hearing the same lame, debunked opposing arguments.

Your conversations just keep going in circles.

It gets to a point where it's like: "Dude, can we please move on now?

I'm sick of getting stuck in the same cul-de-sacs and dead ends."

This frustration is totally normal and understandable.

But stubborn people use it as an excuse to shut down.

People with conviction keep going.

People with conviction take it in stride.

People with conviction keep listening, keep pondering, keep engaging.

Because they aren't afraid of being challenged.

Stubborn people are offended by being challenged.

They think they're above all that.

They think they're a noble warrior for the truth—

and their opinion of you is directly proportional to the extent you believe what they do.

Stubborn people use their beliefs as cudgels to intimidate, silence,

or force into submission those they disagree with.

People with conviction use their beliefs to inspire.

Stubborn people want to go to ideological war.

People with conviction want peace, even when it's unpopular.

In these divisive times, stubborn people are everywhere, on all sides.

Don't be one of them.

And don't let their fallacies and narrowmindedness sway you from your convictions.

my research looks at how the brain is

different in individuals with dyslexia

or reading impairments structural

differences in the brain can occur in

either the gray matter regions which is

what most people think of when they

think of the brain but it can also occur

in the white matter pathways or the

fibers that connect the various gray

matter regions one key issue in the

field is how do we identify individuals

with dyslexia a number of neuroimaging

studies fail to describe how they have

identified individuals in this

population so for this study individuals

with dyslexia had two criteria that they

had to meet one they had to have a

history of reading and writing

impairments growing up but two they also

had to continue to show deficits in

decoding or the ability to sound out

words into their individual sounds of

cord decoding for this study was defined

as a score of 85 or lower on a non-word

or pseudo word reading task I targeted

seven different white matter pathways

that make up the reading network and

they're connected cortical regions so I

used a novel technique called

bi-directional iterative parcellation to

identify these particular pathways what

bi-directional iterative parcellation does

is it takes an individual voxel or you

could think of a pixel in the image and

determines whether or not the next voxel

based on probabilistic tractography is

connected to and makes up this

particular fiber pathway additionally

bi-directional iterative parcellation

identifies the voxels that are directly

connected to the pathway of interest and

it does this in both directions going

from one end point to the other end

point and back again multiple times

until what is left is the identified

pathway of interest as well as the

connected cortical regions of interest

and fractional anisotropy is a

particular measure of white matter

integrity with a higher value or a value

closer of one indicating increased

integrity or greater integrity for a

particular pathway what I found was that

individuals with increased white matter

integrity particularly in the a slant a

frontal pathway had lower readings on

both pseudo word reading and nonword

reading what this implicates is that

individuals with dyslexia could be

relying more heavily on this anterior

pathway as opposed to more language

critical pathways that are in the

posterior region and are known to be

implicated with reading

Senator Mazie Hirono: Mitch McConnell Blaming Democrats 'Uncalled For' | MSNBC - Duration: 5:35.

COMMITTEE AND YAMICHE ALCINDOR AND ASTEAD HERNAN.

THANK YOU FOR JOINING US. LET ME ASK YOU THIS.

THIS IS -- THIS IS THE FIRST-EVER PARTISAN FILIBUSTER

OF A SUPREME COURT NOMINEE. DO DEMOCRATS REALLYY WANT THAT

DISTINCTION? >> WE WANT A SUPREME COURT

NOMINEE WHO WILL ACTUALLY GET MORE THAN THE BARE MINIMUM OF

SENATE VOTES. NOBODY IS FORCING MITCH

McCONNELL TO TAKE HIS CAUCUS DOWN THIS PATH.

SO, FOR HIM TO START BLAMING THE DEMOCRATS I THINK IS REALLY

UNCALLED FOR, ESPECIALLY AS HE UNILATERALLY ANNOUNCED THAT HE

WOULD NOT PROCEED AT ALL WITH JUDGE GARLAND'S NOMINATION.

>> BUT AT THIS POINT, SENATOR, THIS IS NOT SURPRISING, FROM

MITCH McCONNELL. THIS IS KIND OF THE ROAD THAT

FOLKS EXPECTED HIM TO GO DOWN ONCE DEMOCRATS MADE IT CLEAR

LIKE YOUR COLLEAGUES ON THE SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE, THAT

THEY WOULD TRY TO FILIBUSTER. >> THERE ARE BATTLES WORTH

FIGHTING, AND THIS IS ONE. JUDGE GORSUCH WILL NOT BE A

JUSTICE FOR ALL OF THE PEOPLE. THOSE OF US WHO SAT THROUGH FOUR

DAYS OF THE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE HEARINGS, I CERTAINLY CAME TO

THE CONCLUSION THAT HE WOULD JUST CONTINUE THE TREND OF THE

ROBERTS COURT TO MOVE TOWARD CONTINUING TO SUPPORT

CORRESPONDENT INTERESTS OVER INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS.

AND THERE ARE SO MANY DECISIONS LIKE THIS, 5-4 DECISIONS.

IN FACT, TODAY IS EQUAL PAY DAY. IT'S TAKEN WOMEN THIS LONG TO

MAKE THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT IT TAKES A MAN TO MAKE AT

THE END OF THE YEAR. ONE OF THE 5-4 DECISIONS THAT

I'M SURE JUDGE GORSUCH WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE RIGHT OF

LIMITING LILY LEDBETTER, THE CASE THAT SURPRISED ALL OF THE

COURT WATCHERS, IN WHICH THEY REALLY CONSTRAINED A WOMAN'S

ABILITY TO GET HER DAY IN COURT FOR DISCRIMINATORY PAY.

THAT'S WHY EVERY MEMBER OF THE SUPREME COURT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

AND WHY THE MOST CONSERVATIVE PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY,

ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS THE -- WELL, YOU KNOW WHICH

ORGANIZATIONS, ARE SUPPORTING JUDGE GORSUCH.

TO THE TUNE OF SPENDING OVER $10 MILLION ON HIS BEHALF.

>> I THINK AT THIS POINT IT IS VERY CLEAR, RIGHT -- I KNOW THAT

SOME INCLUDING SENATOR SCHUMER, FOR EXAMPLE, SAID, HEY, IF YOU

CAN'T GET THE VOTES, CHANGE THE NOMINEE.

>> YES. >> THAT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

THIS IS THE ROAD WE ARE HEADED DOWN, SENATOR.

DOES THIS MEAN THE END OF THE LEGISLATIVE FILIBUSTER AS WELL?

THAT COULD IMPACT POLICY ACROSS THE BOARD FOR DECADES TO COME.

>> I DOUBT VERY MUCH THAT WILL GET RID OF THE 60 VOTE

REQUIREMENT TO MOVE LEGISLATION. >> HOW CAN YOU BE SO SURE?

>> THAT WOULD MAKE US A U.S. HOUSE.

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, THAT'S TOTAL MAJORITY RULE THERE.

I THINK THAT MOST SENATORS DO CARE ABOUT THE INSTITUTION AND

THE PROCESS WHEREBY WE COME TO SOME KIND OF AN AGREEMENT OR

CONSENSUS ON LEGISLATION. I DON'T THINK THERE IS, AS MY

FRIEND SHELDON WHITEHOUSE SIDE THIS MORNING, I DON'T THINK

THERE IS AN APPETITE TO MOVE DOWN THAT ROAD FOR LEGISLATION.

>> I FLASH BACK TO FIVE, TEN YEARS AGO.

I DON'T KNOW THAT PEOPLE WOULD HAVE SAID THERE WOULD BE A

NUCLEAR OPTION ON A SUPREME COURT PICK EITHER.

I JUST WONDER, DO YOU WORRY THAT WE'RE STARTING A SLIPPERY SLOPE

HERE? >> I THINK THAT THE INABILITY TO

COME TO SOME KIND OF A CONSENSUS, YEAH, A LARGE PART OF

IT IS DUE TO, IN MY VIEW, THE LEADERSHIP.

HERE IS MITCH McCONNELL, WHO ANNOUNCED AFTER PRESIDENT OBAMA

GOT ELECTED THAT HIS GOAL IN LIFE WAS TO MAKE SURE THAT

PRESIDENT OBAMA DID NOT GET REELECTED AND THAT HE WOULD

STYMIE HIS EFFORTS AT EVERY TURN.

IT'S ONE OF THE REASONS THAT LED US TO CHANGE THE RULES TO ALLOW

FOR AN UP OR DOWN VOTE ON THE PRESIDENT'S NOMINEES, BECAUSE

HUNDREDS OF JUDICIAL NOMINEES AS WELL AS APPOINTMENTS WERE BEING

HELD UP BY THE REPUBLICANS. THEY FILIBUSTERED OVER 500

TIMES. SO WE ARE WHERE WE ARE.

I AM HOPEFUL THAT, AS WE GO FORWARD, THAT THERE WILL NOT BE

A NUCLEAR OPTION ON LEGISLATION. AS I SAID, NOBODY IS FORCING

MITCH McCONNELL TO GO DOWN THIS PATH.

IF HE REALLY CARED ABOUT A SUPREME COURT, LIFETIME

APPOINTMENT, MAKING DECISIONS THAT IMPACT OUR LIVES FOR

DECADES, THAT THAT PERSON, ALL THOSE NOMINEES, SHOULD GET AT

LEAST 60 VOTES TO GO FORWARD. I DON'T THINK THAT'S BEING

UNREASONABLE. >> DO YOU THINK YOU CAN FLIP

THAT ARGUMENT IF YOU'RE, FOR EXAMPLE, MITCH McCONNELL AND

SAY, HEY, DEMOCRATS ARE THE ONES WHO COULD NOT FILIBUSTER, RIGHT,

AND SORT OF MAKE THE OPPOSITE ARGUMENT FROM THAT PERSPECTIVE.

>> WELL, THAT'S WHY WE ARE WHERE WE ARE.

BUT IN MY VIEW, A JUSTICE NOMINEE WHO IS SUPPORTED BY THE

MOST RIGHT-WING GROUPS WHO HAVE PUT HIM ON THEIR LIST AND, IN

FACT, ONE OF THE REASONS THAT THIS WHOLE NOMINATION, I THINK,

IS BEING FAST-TRACKED, FASTER THAN ANY OTHER SUPREME COURT

NOMINEE, WITH NOT GIVING PEOPLE IN AMERICA A CHANCE TO REALLY

WEIGH IN, IS BECAUSE THERE IS A VERY IMPORTANT CASE HAVING TO DO

WITH SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE THAT THESE CONSERVATIVE

GROUPS WOULD WANT JUDGE GORSUCH'S VOTE ON.

AND SO WE'RE GOING TO DO EVERYTEVERYTHING WE CAN TO FIGHE

Interview with composer Nicole Lizée | Nicole Lizée parle du projet RENCONTR3S - Duration: 1:56.

My name is Nicole Lizée, I'm from Montreal and I'm a composer.

I work a lot with turntablists and that's sort of been my aesthetic, forever really.

Is merging worlds that are not necessarily found together.

When Nicole and I first started speaking, it was as if we had known each other for many years.

We shared actual interests, what we were reading, what artists were delighting us,

what performances we had seen.

And as we were going through it we saw had very similar ideas and interests

in where we were going with our process.

We decided to go with turntable

as the focus of the work.

Surrounded by the orchestra.

So I sort of took the metaphor of the turntable and applied it to the orchestra.

So what happens in several sections of the work, are,

while the turntablist is performing

techniques, the orchestra is simulating these techniques.

Now having that extra dimension of dance to be added to the other elements that I've

worked with before … it completely exploded.

New colours and new life and just the possibilities now have been blown out of the water really.

I know Emily to be a completely original, completely passionate and has great ideas.

So I know that whatever she decides to choreograph this work, it will be amazing.

Collaboration really opens up mind and hearts and I think that is the legacy it will leave.

To see what has blossomed when when two worlds come together and create something.

Motivation & Sleep - theJunieBird - VEDA day FOUR - Duration: 4:28.

Hey folks, and happy VEDA! Today I want to

talk a little bit about motivation and

sleep. Specifically, what is the

connection between motivation and sleep.

More specifically, why I am struggling

so hard to get out of bed before 10am. And I

wanna be super clear here, I am totally

fine getting up really, really early if I

have to be on set or if I'm working. So I

will easily, no problems, no questions

asked, get up at like 4:30 or 5 in the

morning to be on set at 7am. I have no

problems with that. It's all the times when

I'm not working on a set, when I'm not

working for somebody else, and there's

just a bunch of stuff that I want to get

done for me, then I am struggling to get

out of bed. I cannot get out of bed

before like 10am, and sometimes I'll just

wind up sitting in bed playing around in

my phone watching YouTube videos and

what-not until like noon or like 1 in

the afternoon. I hate it! I don't know why

I'm like this! I didn't have too much of

a problem getting up early for school

when I was in school. I was totally fine

with getting up to go to class at 8am in

college, I would get up at like 7:30 to

get to school when I was in high school.

And sometimes even earlier, depending on

where we living and what time I had to

leave to get to school, and yeah that was

hard, it was uncomfortable, but I was fine

with it, and I could do it. But lately

I've been entirely unable to get out of bed

at a decent time. In an ideal world, if I

didn't have any appointments or

scheduled work to do on a given day, I

would still be getting up at 8am, having

breakfast, like, doing some sort of a

morning routine and then getting started

on videos, and other projects that I'm

working on. I've tried putting my phone

across the room, or even in other rooms,

and it doesn't work. Like, I just I get up,

and I go get my phone, and I come back to

bed. The really weird part about this

whole thing though is that I almost

don't even mind, because even if I'm not

getting on bed until like 10 or

sometimes 11, I'm still getting a lot of

stuff done, I'm just getting it done on a

totally different timeline. Because if

I'm not getting out of bed until 11, then

I'll wind up staying awake until like

three in the morning, and that's when I'll

be doing things like, it's not that

unusual for me to be sitting down to do

research [for a video], or pay some bills or something

like that at midnight. Like, that's almost

normal at this point. So, I would love to

hear from you guys, do you have a really

normal sleep schedule, or do you have a

really weird sleep schedule? And what

would you like your sleep schedule to be?

If you were completely making your own

schedule. I love to hear from you guys

down in the comments below, other than

that I hope you guys have a really great

day. I hope you get a chance to do

something that you love today, and I will

see you tomorrow. Once again.

Bye!

How Do You Get Rid of a Canker Sore? - Duration: 2:23.

so you're sitting there trying to eat

your breakfast burrito but this thing

inside your lip hurts every time you

take a bite then you go for a swig of

orange juice and it stings so much that

your eyes start to water that's life

with a canker sore technically called an

afta sulser once you have one you're

pretty much stuck with it for the next

week or so but there are some things you

can do to try to prevent canker sores in

the first place and there are ways to

make them hurt less and maybe even heal

faster to be clear we're not talking

about cold sores here the bumps you

might get on your lips outside your

mouth those are caused by a viral

infection instead the AFT this ulcers

are basically little abrasions inside

your mouth they're often caused by

something that irritates a spot like

braces or dentures rubbing against your

cheek or acidic or spicy foods but there

are other factors involved too studies

have shown that when people are

especially stressed they tend to get

more canker sores possibly because the

hormones your body releases when you're

stressed can trigger inflammation and

nutritional deficiencies like if you're

not getting enough iron or vitamin b12

can thin the cell layers lining your

mouth leading to more canker sores and

then there are the unlucky folks who

have recurrent aphthous stomatitis or

ras which basically means that they have

extra painful canker sores that keep

reappearing researchers aren't totally

sure why people get ras but it might

have to do with genetics or higher

stress levels so to try to prevent

canker sores you can avoid spicy foods

and be careful with anything sharp or

poke in your mouth like braces but

there's no guarantee that you won't get

one anyway the good news is there are

things dentists recommend trying to make

a canker sore less painful while it

heals you can buy treatments with a

chemical called benzocaine which

interacts with your nerve endings to

numbness or so it doesn't hurt when you

chew you can also rinse your mouth with

some diluted hydrogen peroxide which

will burn like the Sun but will kill off

bacteria that might infect the canker

sore and make it stick around longer and

prescription medications with a steroid

called fluid sinan ID can make the

canker sore heal faster and interact

with your immune system to bring down

swelling for tougher cases like Ras

doctors can prescribe stronger meds like

other steroids or antibiotics they come

with stronger side effects but have been

shown to reduce the number of canker

sores people get and make the ones they

do get less painful the next time you

get one of these annoying painful things
