Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos' Enviable Love Story: How the Former Soap Opera Sweethearts Keep It Spicy and Sane After 22 Years

All sorts of things had to go right—or wrong—for Kelly Ripato end up meeting Mark Consuelos.

It was 1993 and Ripa had been on All My Children for three years, playing Hayley Vaughan—first as a teen in a black wig, then as a young woman who couldnt steer clear of trouble if her life (or contract) depended on it.

Hayleys first big love interest, Brian, was played by Matt Borlenghi, and while drama was written into the script, it was translating behind the scenes as well.  One time, a reporter on set heard screaming and furniture crashing down the hall.

A makeup guy said, Oh, thats just Kelly and Matt rehearsing. In reality, we were in her dressing room having an argument, Borlenghi recalled to Variety in 2015.

I was taking myself way too seriously and I asked Kelly, how did you get so lucky to be on this show? Nice. No wonder Hayleys father broke up their engagement!.

It turns out it would have been a lot easier on me if I had followed her path and just had more fun at work, Borlenghi said.

But if I hadnt left, maybe she never would have met Mark. Consuelos was a recent college grad and newly arrived in New York when he auditioned for AMC in 1995. with Ripa as his screen test partner.

He obviously aced the chemistry test and scored the role of Mateo Santos, who was destined to be the the man in Hayleys life, no matter the infinite complications thrown in their way.

My main focus was getting the job and I couldnt believe my luck, having been in New York for five minutes, Consuelos recalled in an interview with E! in 2006.

He continued, My first impression of my wife was—she was obviously extremely beautiful—but she was really funny, really intelligent, really quick.

I realized that if I was ever to get into an argument with her, I would lose every single time. He also described his wife, of 10 years at the time, as always very, very real and pretty vulnerable as someone who was willing to put herself out there, and extremely sexy. Despite an initial attraction to Mateo, Hayley had a few other doomed relationships to cycle through before they could finally be together. .

Far less complicated was the relationship growing between the actors off-camera.  We fell in love long before our characters fell in love.but we were around each other a lot, Consuelos said.

Theyd go on safe dates, in groups, during which they had a chance to size each other up. If he had to name just one thing he fell in love with early on, Consuelos told E!, it was her extreme generosity in how she treated him and others.

Ive never really met anybody like that.

Shes really a good person. He laughed recalling when the two were photographed together in Jamaica not long after they started dating, which everyone thought at the time was the big reveal of them as a couple.

In reality, they were in Jamaica shooting All My Children—and they were arguing. We had already gone full circle [as a couple], Consuelos joked.

I mean, we got married a few months later. But for everyone who thought that was the trip that brought them together, they couldnt be further from the truth..

Consuelos ended up popping the question over pizza and wine—and the next thing you know, were on a plane to Vegas the next morning. So barely a year after meeting, before Hayley could even extract herself from her forced marriage to Alec, Ripa and Consuelos eloped. They married on May 1, 1996, at a little chapel they found in the phone book, then honeymooned in Rome and Capri for a week. Loath to share their secret at first, they soon acquired Tiffany wedding bands and made plans to hold a small Catholic ceremony that their loved ones could witness (which may not have ever happened, though they had three weddings on All My Children).

The newlyweds sat down for their first interview as husband and wife with Soap Opera digest in August 1996. Asked when they fell in love, Consuelos said, As far as Im concerned, instantly—before we ever had a scene together.

Weve been spending 12 hours a day together for the past year and a half. We just understood each other really well, Ripa added. If two people were ever supposed to be together, Id say it was us..

And theyve been proving it ever since. Thirteen months after tying the knot, they welcomed son Michael, whose godmother is his parents former AMC co-star Eva LaRue. Daughter Lola was born in 2001 and they had son Joaquin in 2003.

It all began with All My Children, Ripa recalled in 2015 when she got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

All My Children is where I met the man that Ive been married to for almost 20 years, the love of my life, the man who taught me how to be a person—really, a real person—and we have three of the most beautiful children, that Im so proud of, on the planet. So there you have it.

They saw Michael off to college in 2016, and theyll have their 22nd wedding anniversary this May 1.

Life couldnt be sweeter for the couple who probably used to have a lot of laughs at night thinking about the ridiculous plot twists their AMC alter egos were living through. And yet Hayley and Mateo were also meant to be.

We imagine AMC fans wouldve strenuously objected to an unhappy ending for the devoted duo, who welcomed an onscreen son, Lorenzo, before eventually moving away from Pine Valley together. But its not as though 22 years have just flown by without any complications.

Life must have gotten in the way at some point for the couple who first acquired cell phones so they could stay in constant communication (and which Ripa formally referred to at the time as cellular phones).

The only time I notice stress in our relationship is when Im not with her, Consuelos told Soap Opera Digest in 1996. Im like, Where is she? Where is my right hand?.

One of the ways theyve battled back against the demands of their respective careers has been their enjoyment of working together and collaborating on projects.

They both remained on All My Children until 2001—and both returned for a couple of episodes in 2010. Consuelos had a guest arc on Ripas sitcom Hope & Faith. Hes been a favorite guest host on Live over the years. And in 2007, they formed their own production company, Milojo, utilizing the first two letters of each of their kids names.

Milojo was behind the E! series Dirty Soap, the inner workings of a soap opera being a subject the couple was intimately familiar with.

Asked why they had turned to producing, Consuelos told E! News, So we can be the bosses. His answer sent his wife into giddy hysterics. Yes, the goal is to eventually get off camera, some day.

Because as you can see, we are not gorgeous like soap stars are, Ripa said. Yeah, those guys are really good looking, Consuelos agreed.

Some might disagree with Ripas assessment of the couples aesthetic appeal, which in reality, especially now without the 90s-era hairdos, remains impressive.

Talking about how soap stars tend to date each other because they spend so much time together on set, Ripa said of her and Consuelos, We were the only people we knew. Which is pretty much the only reason we got married, cause we didnt know anybody else, he shrugged.

Shhh, Ripa shushed him, developing another fit of giggles. Thats not true.Im sure its not true. I mean, it might be true.

But look, its worked out! Its evident every time theyre together onscreen that they continue to make each other laugh. They also still have things in common (not including Consuelos sports-watching habit), and theyve nailed that whole truly-liking-each-other thing.  Its a very typical, normal relationship, Consuelos also told E! at the 10-year mark in 2006.

We have, you know, ups and downs just like anybody else. He suspected that, if you asked Ripa, she could point out a few moments in their marriage where it couldve gone either way. But I think I made a really good decision. He smiled.

As she told AOL.com in 2015, The phrase this too shall pass is such an important phrase when youre in your early wedding years.

Every argument, every disagreement, seems like the end of the universe and it really isnt. She also advised, in Good Housekeeping in 2010, Dont be a bottler; youll explode. If something bothers me, I just say it, no harm, no foul.

So much of marriage is ego-based—whos right, who wins the argument. Mark and I dont really have that. Two years later she told the magazine, I think he would say that I talk too much—endlessly.

If the two of us go out to dinner, I feel the need to talk. He thinks we can sit and enjoy the ambience of the room—just have a cocktail and bask in each others glow.

I feel the need to hash things out: Can you believe what our kids did today? I feel like youre not listening to me.

Are you listening to me? Im entirely too verbal with him. But even as the cute marital anecdotes have been largely replaced by funny stories about raising three kids (and then three teenagers) and the wisdom that comes with being married for years, the couple remain refreshingly hot for each other.

We carve out time for ourselves, Ripa told Good Housekeeping in 2010.

I think that were better parents because date night gives us something to look forward to, a night where were not saying, Put that down, stop touching her, dont spill that. Sometimes well put the kids to bed early and watch Jersey Shore on DVR.

It can be that simple, just the two of us, alone, one day a week, for dinner and hijinks. She reiterated the sentiment in 2014.

Lots of sex is key, Ripa said on Watch What Happens Live, noting that youre either doing it a lot or, simply, youre not. We just like each other a lot, she explained. I love my husband. I think hes awesome.

Weve been together a really long time. We try to do spicy things together all the time.  Those cellular phones, for instance, eventually became useful for sexting. I sent him a cute, adorable butt selfie in my underpants, Ripa revealed.

Its the only time Ive ever sent a semi-nude anything, ever! (Never mind that she accidentally sent it to her mother and father-in-law as well.

Happens to the best of us.) Ripa, who relishes sharing stories about her kids with her audience, has also stressed the importance of being on the same page with Consuelos as parents.

We are a united front, she told Redbook in 2014. Our kids try, and they all try to divide and conquer, so even if we disagree we dont do it in front of the kids. Aside from the laughter, and the shared values.Ripa and Consuelos know that its the little things that keep a marriage more than merely chugging along, so they also work at keeping the romance alive.

During their 20th anniversary getaway to Turks and Caicos (which—from the nothings-perfect department—ironically happened right in the middle of the turmoil at Live when Michael Strahan announced he was leaving in April 2016), Ripa donned the slip dress she wore at their Vegas wedding. It still fit like a glove.

The dress is 25 years old. My marriage is 20 years old. I didnt buy it as a wedding dress.

I just bought it because it was really pretty, and I wanted to buy something from the Barneys Warehouse sale, Ripa said, showing off some old snapshots from their low-key big day on Live.

With Consuelos now playing Veronicas dad on Riverdale, Ripa helps lessen the time apart by joining her husband in Vancouver, where the CW series shoots, when she can. And when duty calls back in New York, she remains his No.

Hes living his best life. He is in Vancouver. Hes never looked better. He is having the best time ever, Ripa gushed about her husband to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in October.

The whole family was together for Christmas last month, of course, a holiday at home that resulted in a slew of cozy-looking pictures of the couple and their kids, and the dog.

And the couple have done the whole long-distance thing before, so neither one is fazed by competing schedules. Were actors, Ripa told People in 2015 when she was in New York and Consuelos was out in L.A.

shooting the Fox series Pitch. Weve done it for years.

Its actually something were quite good at. Theyre also pros, by now, at riding out the bumps in the road.  Theres going to be times where you look at each other like I cant believe I live with you, Ripa told AOL.com in 2015, but open communication and strong listening skills can help carry you through hard times.

Thats what you want in life, to have a good companion, somebody that loves you, that listens to you and is your equal in every way. And then theres that laughter.

While Consuelos was co-hosting Live in June 2016, they had each other in stitches while discussing Ripas expectations should something happen to her and Consuelos gets remarried. I would never get remarried, first of all, he said.

No, Ive had all the fun one mans going to have! With that, they both lost it. Ive had enough! he exclaimed.

Ripa, meanwhile, has also admitted that they just got really, really lucky early on in their lives. Were very lucky that we found each other, thats what I have to say, she told AOL.

I would say to Mark, Who would we have married if not each other?. For more on the key ingredients that have gone into Kelly and Marks enduring marriage, tune into E! News tonight at 7 & 11 p.

metal studs and protrusions.

In "The Conditioning First Action Of Self-Portrait(s)," the artist lay on a metal bed above lit candles

for approximately thirty minutes.

Marina Abramovic re-performed "The Conditioning" on the fourth night of her "Seven Easy Pieces"

event, at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, in 2005.

This work inspires me to think of ways that I can gain sympathy with an audience, though

In this episode, we'll look at the 1637-38 painting, "Et In Arcadia Ego (Les Bergers

d'Arcadie)," by the artist Nicolas Poussin.

Poussin was born in Les Andelys, France, in 1594.

Poussin is known as the founder of the French Classical tradition of painting.

His 1628-1629 painting "The Martyrdom of Saint Erasmus," is an altarpiece located

in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

In "Et In Arcadia Ego," is an example of Poussin's "Neo-Classical" style,

depicting a pastoral scene with idealized shepherds from classical antiquity clustering

around an austere tomb.

It is held in the Louvre, Paris.

This work inspires me to look to classical tales and myths, as an influence on my work.

Length to be cut should be about 2 x 8 cm length of completion.

Heat the cut paracode and join it to one.

Next I will go through the buckle.

I will also pass the other side buckle and D kang.

Make sure that the part you just jointed is in the middle.

With a length about 5 times longer than the axis, cut the cord for knitting.

Next pass the string that you cut into the knot.

For knitting, first make a ring on the right like this,

Place the left string down,

Pass through the loop from the bottom.

Now make a loop on the left opposite to the previous one,

Drop the right down and pass through the loop from the bottom.

I will knit this operation alternately with right, left, and right alternately.

I knitted to the end.

We cut the extra part and process it.

I also attached a bell. ♬

Metal fittings of materials can also be made by reusing old collar parts etc. ♪

BREAKING: Trump Just Did It Right Before Massive Women's March This Weekend! - Duration: 5:03.

BREAKING: Trump Just Did It Right Before Massive Women's March This Weekend!

Hell Yeah!

It's that "special" time of year when liberal women and their emasculated male supporters

gather together in hoards and flood the streets across the country in ridiculous pink hats.

Despite saying they're "empowered" by taking their "rights" back and screaming

for free birth control, the Women's March is really just an army of victims wanting

to scream and accomplish nothing.

It's their hate for our supposedly misogynistic president that they're putting on display,

while ignoring the droves of liberal men this year who have been exposed as the true groping

perverts.

Now, just hours before this embarrassing nonsense of pink hats fills the streets in a city near

you, the nemesis of the movement, President Trump himself, has just ended it for all of

them in a move he made.

While they continually tout Trump as a misogynist and anti-woman in everything he does, they

reap the benefits of what he has actually done for them already that Barack Obama never

did, and they are currently benefitting from it as they march.

Conservative Tribune reports: One of the many unfounded criticisms lodged

against President Donald Trump by his liberal haters is that he is some sort of sexist misogynist

that mistreats and looks down upon successful women.

Of course, anyone who knows or has been following Trump for any amount of time — and who has

a bit of intellectual honesty — understands that such a smear couldn't be further from

the truth.

The reality of the situation, as laid out in detail in an op-ed for The Hill by GOP

strategist Jen Kerns, is that Trump actually has more women at senior levels in various

parts of his administration than any of his recent predecessors, including former Presidents

Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.

Also, it is worth noting that several of those women are minorities or descended from immigrants

to America.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of the liberal media has decided not to report on that fact

in favor of perpetuating the narrative that Trump hates women, minorities and immigrants.

It's also of note that Trump has more females on his staff than any president before him

and his campaign manager at the end of his election was a woman, who has received endless

insults from the left.

They want to talk about rights and respect, but trash the man who grants both the women

in this country far more than his predecessor.

So, it's not about what they say, it's about what they want which is free stuff and

negative attention on Trump.

Facts prove this.

On the other side of the spectrum, is a separate march the same weekend that women are getting

involved in and is an actual worthy counter cause with a completely different message

of empowerment.

If a woman wants to really march for her rights and prove that she has a choice, this is the

event she can be involved in to really make a positive difference and not a divisive one.

National Review reports: This Sunday, hundreds of thousands of women

across the country will storm the streets in the second annual March for Women.

Last year, the first Women's March took place the day after Donald Trump's inauguration,

in a display of wrath against the new Republican administration.

This year's march promises much of the same sentiment.

But all people who truly want to empower American women should turn their attention elsewhere,

to an event that receives much less media acclaim: the March for Life, which will mark

its 45th anniversary this morning on the National Mall.

It is this march, not the Women's, that presents a unified, pro-woman message, instead

of a narrow agenda driven by identity politics.

The March for Women, in spite of its title, is defined not by what it stands for but by

what it stands against — more specifically, who it's against.

It's a direct response to the fact that millions of Americans elected Trump, and these

women and their male allies are driven by animus against him, whom they view as the

leader of an oppressive system that robs women of rights.

Maybe they're correct, maybe not.

But a movement fueled primarily by what it's against is not a movement that will last.

The problems they lament existed long before Donald Trump, and yet there were no pink-knitted

p***y hats marching en masse until his election.

And while their concerns will outlast Trump, too, the Women's March has already proven

itself to be just another means by which the Left expresses the rage of the current moment.

Its leadership and platform discourage broad cultural support.

And, just one year into its existence, its internal fractures are already showing.

It's time that women really take womanhood back and we have our president to thank for

making that even possible.

He's recognizing talent, intelligence, and ability, in a person as to who to select for

professional positions and not just their gender.

Isn't this what feminists say they want?

It's what they have now that they didn't have before but they're too busy protesting

without a cause to see it.

What do you think about this?

Joby Gorillapod - You Probably Need One of These. - Duration: 7:25.

In this video We're gonna talk about the Joby Gorillapod and really decide whether or not

it's a good thing for you to buy got this for Christmas, which means that I've

been using it for almost a month now; and I've been using it just about every single

day of that month.

This has to be one of my favorite photography tools I have ever used.

It's so versatile.

You can use it as a tripod, a stabilizer, you can use it to hook your camera to things

where you normally wouldn't be able to put your camera.

Mounting it to things like this ladder behind me.

You could use that as a mount.

You just have to wrap these legs around it because they bend any which-way you could

want them to bend.

That allows you to mount your camera almost anywhere.

Here's a picture that I took with my camera mounted to the leg of a chair.

That's not a normal place where you'd be able to mount your camera, but, since you've got

a Gorillapod, you can put it there.

You could hang it from the overhead handles in your car, you could hang it from your car

mirror.

I mean, I wouldn't recommend that, but you could and it would be sturdy.

You could put it practically anywhere.

Another great thing about it is that it's so small, you can set this thing right on

top of your desk or you can set it anywhere else.

The best part about this thing is just, it's sooooo versatile.

I've got, probably three other tripods... the tripod that I'm using to record this video

is really big and really bulky and it's a real pain to move around anywhere.

This tripod, the only reason I'm not using it for this video is that I have to show it

in this video.

For most of my videos, I am going to be using, this to shoot because the quick release plate

on it is such a pleasure to use.

Just push this button in and it slides right out, it's that easy (repeat)

One of my favorite things about this quick release plate, aside from how easy it is to

remove and replace, is that it has a little bubble level right on it... built in.

So even when your camera is not on your tripod, you can be sure you are getting those level

shots.

It also acts as a level for your tripod while you are using it as a tripod.

Each of the legs on the Joby Gorillapod is made up of ten... essentially what is a ball-in-socket

joint, just like your shoulder or your hips.

So they can go any which way you want them to go and that makes it so that they are incredibly

flexible.

It's not like another, like, and off-brand kind-of Gorillapod...

Which actually, one second.

This is the Targus kind of off-brand Gorillapod deal.

The joints on this, as you can see right here only bend in one direction, so this one will

bend toward me or away from me and this one will bend up or down.

That is a HUGE step down, also, just the rigidity of this one... this feels like a toy, compare

to this one which feels like an actual tool, this one, you can bend these legs any way

you want because they all work like your shoulder which goes whichever direction, it's not just

forward or back or up or down.

This one cost me twenty dollars.

This one cost me 50 dollars, or actually, I got this one as a gift, but this one costs

50 dollars.

I would so, so much more highly recommend this to this, especially for the price.

This costs half of the price of this, essentially, and is far less than half as useful.

This is the way you want to go if you're looking for a flexible tripod.

This thing feels sturdy, it feels robust, it's not gonna break, it's not gonna wear

down anytime soon, and I'm going to continue to use it every single day for all of my filming

and picture taking needs because it really helps with both of those things.

If you are taking pictures with the Gorillapod, you can use it as like a handheld stabilizer

essentially that's gonna turn you into a tripod or you can use it as a tripod because that's

what it is.

There's a way that you can take this, unscrew the ball head, roll it back, lock it down

and then put your camera on it right here.

Actually, I have a camera I can show you guys with.

so you take your camera, which is on your Gorillapod and you've got your ball head like

this, it's up and down like it normally is.

Then you go ahead, unscrew that ball head and then roll it back.

Tighten it back up and then you've got this which you can push right into your chest and

use as like, a stabilizer so that you can take slower shutter speed shots if you need

to or you can do smooth pans in video if you need to do that.

Or you can flip it this way around... flip the camera, not necessarily the Gorillapod.

Flip it this way around, and then you can take pictures like this and use this part

as a stabilizer so that you are more steady when you are taking your shots.

You can do the same thing as, yknow, all of the big vloggers do.

You can set it on there, face it toward yourself and then look into it, talk to it, vlog to

it and it's gonna look like this when it's facing you.

All around it's just an insanely VERSATILE tool that I can not recommend enough.

Net to my camera, it's probably my most useful photography accessory or tool or however you

want to say that.

This is something that I think everyone should buy, whether you're a photographer or if you're

a filmmaker, this thing will come in handy.

It's an amazing thing to have in your camera bag.

I say in your camera bag because it fits in a lot of camera bags because it's so compact.

Whether you're using it for static stabilization, like as a tripod or mounted to something,

or for mobile stabilization with it pressed against yourself or just as another contact

point for you to have with your camera; it will make your job easier.

Just so that it's a little bit easier for you guys to find this, I'll leave a link to
