I don't just blindly do sub for sub and this is why you shouldn't
as well hi guys and welcome back to my channel today's video is going to be
about how to start a YouTube channel first things first you got to figure out
what type of channel you want to have what type of videos you want to make and
I'm sure if you're considering starting a YouTube channel it's for a reason I'm
sure you have something in mind and now you're like well why not make a youtube channel?
And that's the first step to figuring out your demographic. Second thing second
you need to make sure that you're pretty involved on other platforms like
Facebook Twitter Instagram even snapchat cuz why not? Now a lot of people kind of
like run themselves into the ground trying to be super overly active on all
platforms, but if you really put focus and drive into one or two of them you'd get
more of a benefit coming out of it.
It is exhausting to film videos, edit videos do
Instagram and Facebook and Twitter it's it's tough why can't we all just meet up on
one platform like.. Whatever. What I suggest is Twitter or Instagram.
Facebook is kind of like

only personal reasons like

start getting involved on threads on
Twitter start commenting on things on instagram, start following pages that are
similar to what you want to do, looks you want to have and things you want to be
involved in. Get involved in those communities to help your growth.
Third things third, you need a set up girllllllll. Boyyyy.. whoever. You need a lot of good lighting
when filming YouTube videos and when you're starting out and you don't have
equipment and you don't necessarily have money for equipment I used a ton of
natural light when I started out until I was able to get my ring light which still
like isn't making me happy..
WHERES THE LIGHTS?!
But you gotta use what you have, right?
your motivation to kick the rest of these things in order will skyrocket
once you've already started "oh I'm gonna wait until I can afford this I'm gonna
wait until I can get a nice camera I'm gonna wait wait" DONT wait because while
you're waiting YouTube is taking off and you're not on the ship!
I had one of those you know
those lights that like had like, like the octopus lights that had like all the
legs like all up... I think there's like eight of them but they're awesome
because you can bend the lights to point at whatever direction you want and
it made me want to sit down and film again. I'm not gonna be one of those
people who sits here and tells you "I started my channel on a flip phone Envy
and it worked fine so you can too" I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, YouTube and
creators have stepped their game up starting a channel now is so much more
difficult than starting a channel then everybody's videos literally have to
look like they were shot by the crew of Keeping Up with the Kardashians it is a
tough game out here but I'm also not gonna tell you that it's not gonna be fine!
Start with that flip phone! Do it with the flip phone!
Do it for the flip phone, I aint gon' do it, Do it for the flip phone,
You have to work for things
Stop going to Starbucks, stop taking your allowance to get candy or
whatever youse kids buy with the allowances these days.. Stop going out to
eat, stop going to the movies, stop doing these things for a short period of time
and put that money away so you can go pick up the 62 dollar camera at Walmart.
Baby steps, climb the ladder!
Next what I'm gonna say that's gonna help you guys
starting out as a new channel is to Be Consistent!
People who enjoy your content
and want to see more of it, they have more of a chance to come back when they
know when they need to come back versus randomly checking on YouTube and being
like "I wonder if they've posted let me go check" It's out of their nature!
people who aren't YouTube people it's out of their nature to do that so you're gonna lose
that crowd so make sure you have consistent set schedules!
Next thing Im gonna say, do not get involved in the "sub4sub" action a lot of those
subscribers unsubscribe a lot of those subscribers aren't necessarily in the
same niche of videos that you are so they are not going to get involved in
your content they're not gonna help you grow your content they are not going to
view it they're not going to share it to other people they're not gonna mention
you they're not gonna help your channel in any way shape or form and like I said
most of them unsubscribe I have lost 48 subscribers from doing sub4sub
back in the day up until the point of me doing sub4sub I didn't lose
a subscriber. Why? Because the people who are subscribing genuinely wanted to
see my content, they were organic subscribers.
So then you just get into
the business of spending all of your time marketing through sub4sub when you
could be spending that time doing it appropriately. Which is next point!
Reach out to other content creators who are
involved in what it is you are trying to do, be active on their videos, on their
posts on social media, learn from them. Don't comment on these large people's
channels and shout out your own channel nobody likes anybody who does that
nobody reading the comments who sees you is gonna be like "Oh she has a beauty channel, let me check it out"
No. They're going to read that and be like "TROLL!" nobody wants to to have that on their videos and nobody
wants to read that and then go support that person who wrote it. Be genuine and
you make friends in the process! Well next I'm going to say your
thumbnails are really important they're the first thing people see they're the
reason people want to click on your video along with the title. Thumbnails
are usually more eye grasping than the title thats in small black text
below them. When people are scrolling and just looking for something to watch on
YouTube they're reading and looking at the thumbnail they're not sitting there
averting the pictures and reading the text like you want to write something on
your thumbnail that's gonna grab their attention and be like "wait what is this about?"
Last but not least I want to mention having a why. Why are you
starting your YouTube channel? Having a "why" really helps you stay motivated and
focused. There have been so many videos that I've watched more currently
More currently?
They want to sit there and tell you "if you're starting a YouTube channel for
the money, don't do it" "if you're starting a YouTube channel for the fame don't do it"
WHAT?!?!
Guys! That's like telling a doctor "if youre gonna become a doctor cause
you think you're gonna save lives don't do it" "if you're gonna be a doctor for
the money don't do it"
You can't change the reason you want to do something if
your reason to start a YouTube channel is you want to do what you want to and
potentially make a lot of money doing it, then that is your "why" so if its about
money, let that money in your mind keep you driven to do it
Let's talk about the elephant in the room, shall we?
YouTube can make you a lot of money, Youtube can make you really famous!
You think everybody's out here because
"Oh its my hobby"
Is it gonna take awhile? Any job or
career you want to do is going to take a while to grow. I enjoy doing this, I have
a lot of fun doing this so I don't feel like it's a lot of work but I'm a liar
if I'm going to say that it didn't also intrigue me to do YouTube for the
potential career growth, or the opportunities I could get from it.
There are so many reasons to do YouTube so figure yours out, write them down and stay
true to them regardless of what any and everybody else tells you.

In the headlines news of the end of 2017, let's go to the Philippines where the joy and Christmas spirit are unique
This Asian archipelago with more than 7,000 islands
has some obvious dangers on the road with its tricycles
but always remains unique by its own culture and very special culinary art
in a spirit of joy, of welcoming and spirituality unique.
We are on the field with our reporters
who gathered the testimonies of 2 bamboos
sent on a mission by Enfants du Mékong
Maguelonne Provendier and Alexia Bickert.
A report from Jacqueline.
Maguelonne, program coordinator for "Enfants du Mékong"
hit the road to visit a program
After a dozen of tricycles who refused to take her,
she finally founds one who agrees to bring her to the terminal,
in order to meet the scholars...
So I am the program coordinator of Negros and Panay.
I have 2 places of mission : the center and the programs
I'm in charge of 15 programs, so it's a lot of work.
Because each program has his own features,
his specificities, his project leader, his history.
It takes me around10 hours to go to the farest program.
So my mission is made of bus, a lot!
It's tiring but it's full of meetings !
And when I arrive, I'm always very well welcomed by the project leader.
The project leader is a Filipino volunteer.
Without them, the sponsorship wouldn't be possible.
They give a lot of time, they have a lot of responsibilities,
like the organization of meetings with the scholars.
The meetings help them to have a regular follow-up.
They ask what is okay, what is not,
So usually, the scholars feel confident
And if they need something, they can trust their project leader
It's very important, beacause with my 15 programs I can't be in each every month
They are a relay between the scholars and me,
And I am the relay between the project leaders and EDM.
So I really need to have good relationship with them because they are essential
And we must also show them that EDM is always here behind them.
I really try to motivate them, everytime.
They are also in charge of the accountancy, which is a huge task and also a nightmare for some...
So showing them that EDM is always here and supports them in their projects
in order to keep their motivation.
They are volunteers, it's not easy sometimes
Because the scholars sometimes give them a hard time.
When I visit a program, I can do different things.
For example, I can organize a meeting with the scholars to see all of them at the same time,
I can do some activities, tell them a message
And especially to inject the family spirit that I find in the center.
It's very important for me so that they be more self-confident and they can talk to each other if they need.
It's not easy because I have 350 scholars to follow.
So that's what is a bit frustrating : I can't know all them personally.
That's why I really appriciate family visits
During the family visits, I can spend a special time with them.
They will tell me their story, the memories which are on their walls,
the story, the memory that go with it. They will introduce me to their family.
They are also hard stories beacause they take the time to tell
Sometimes we will walk during 2 hours to go in their house and it's the time that they take to go to school.
For us, it's a day's walk but them, they do it every morning and every night.
We can see how deserving and how brave they are
These are beautiful lessons of life everyday.
Back to Dumaguete, Maguelonne can taste the pleasure of a quiet city, with a fluid traffic, always.
The market is also a place where it is nice to hang out
We forget the daily rice
anf we find the beautiful colors and taste of the tropical fruits
Coming back to the center is a real pleasure for Maguelonne
Spend some time with the students to share, this is the center's spirit !
There, we always have a warm welcome!
The students are friendly and generous
But Maguelonne also comes back to the center to work
The follow-up of the scholars is very important
She works in the office with Alexia, center coordinator
Alexia starts her day early
She always goes to her office full of energy and motivation!
So for me it is my second year of mission for Enfants du Mékong
Last year I was sent in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
in a center with students
who study in the best universities of Phnom Penh thanks to EDM
I lived in a boarding house with 22 first-year college scholars
I was in charge of the opening-to-the-world training in the Centre Mérieux,
a training that was additional to their courses in college.
It was a very busy, lively and intense mission I surpassed myself very often
When EDM asked me about a second year...
... I answered: Yes of course!
And so here I am, in Dumaguete. It's the 4th month of my second year
The mission is similar to the previous one because it is with college scholars
so it is nice because I can use what I learned last year
And it is also very different
because I have to start everything all over again because it is a new country, a new culture
I didn't know the students before
We need to learn to know them little by little
But it is also what makes the mission beautiful
Because if I am here today for EDM it is to live by the students' side,
I'm here to share their life, learn how to know them better,
I'm here to trust them, to make them more self-confident
I'm here to give them a hand when they need it
And this is what is fascinating
So my mission this year is to be the center coordinator
of Dumaguete center, a busy and various mission.
For example, I'm in charge of the human and professional life training activities
A very full planning...
... with interested and curious students!
I'm also in charge towards EDM Philippines National Office
of the administrative and financial management of this center with 30 scholars
That means I very often go downtown
but always with my bike because Dumaguete is a small city, and that's very nice!
Every Tuesday is Accounting Day!
The center pays for the scholars' tuition fees and projects so for every spending,
for example a book or a uniform, they ask me for money
Then they have 2 weeks to bring me the invoice
With 30 students, I can tell you there are a lot of invoices!
I really like Tuesdays because even though there are very busy days,
I can take time to talk with every student.
And so in the center, one of my main missions
is to recreate a family environment for the scholars, a second family
So they feel supported and can be fulfilled during their studies
So they can succeed.
The scholars come from poor families
and it is hard for them because they can feel guilty
and even if they know that in 4 years when they'll graduate,
they will get their families out of poverty.
But for now it is difficult and we are here to give them hope
to tell them to not give up on their studies
keep studying hard, you can do it. And in 4 years, you'll see the results of your efforts!
And this is what's beautiful
because Enfants du Mékong is really more than a scholarship, more than money
EDM is all the love that we give them. The volunteers, the staff we are here for them,
to give them what they need.

Yeah some nems!!
Of course not: rice!
One day, I visited a scholar in her house,
a very little house, around 12m², maybe 14.
a bamboo house, just bamboo and maybe a tin roof,
She had 10 siblings, they were 13 to live in this house.
This scholar started to cry.
I asked her the reason. She said to me that she was ashamed to show me that.
I said "but no, don't be ashamed!"
"You are so brave, it's incredible!"
"Your life is not easy but you continue to go to school because you believe in you, in your future and your family, you want to help them..."
So, this is our role to motivate the scholars when we visit the family.
It's true that some don't have an easy life.
They are so brave but they don't know it!
After my program's visits, I really appreciate to come in the center, because I find there a family.
I'm there regularly so I really created true relationship with the scholars.
We are there in everyday life, during the happy moments with all the activities,
But also in the less easy moments, we are here for them, we are to motivate them again,
We are here to accompany them, for example on the way of forgivness
We learn how to live together, and it's beautiful how much they have grown in for 4 months!
And once again, it's a life lesson at the center everyday.
One of my best memories in the center as of now
is the retreat that took place 2 weeks ago.
We left the center for 2 days, all the center
And it was different this year because I asked the fourth year students
to organize the weekend
They really handle a lot: the meals, the planning,
the budget, the speakers...
they were very motivated and touched that I beleived they were able to organize it
and so they surpassed themselves
The younger scholars were impressed
and touched also that these 4th year worked so hard for them
And it's really heart-warming to see 4th year students
who surpass themselves like that,
so the younger ones can have a beautiful retreat.
because it means they have understood it all
It means that the center and all the human training and personal development that we give them is useful
They have the sense of service
They surpass themselves for the others. And this is what EDM is about,
And this is what family is about.
After there is the bit overtraded phrase that says 'When you give yourself, you receive more than you give'
but it's true. I have received so much in 4 months
It's amazing... And I still have a lot to give
And I think I will never stop being amazed by all these smiles
So my mission is full
And I am very very happy...
And so after 1 year and a half of mission
1 year and a half of cold shower, 1 year and a half of rice at every meal even in dessert!
1 year and a half of tiredeness
1year and a half of sweat, 1 year and a haf of sun,
all that I remember is the gift of joy
and I am more motivated than ever!
We really hope you receive all the joy and the smiles we get everyday
that we sent you the beauty and the interest of our mission
On the field we are the eyes, the ears and the heart of Enfants du Mékong
Enfants du Mékong really needs to send us on the field
And so living in the center, visiting the programs

Big Little Lies' Nicole Kidman delivered a moving speech as she received the honour for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for her sensational portrayal of the character, Celeste Wright.
" A flu-stricken Nicole, 50, fought back the tears as she started off the speech by saying that she'd been working "since she was 14 years old.
" She continued: "I was working until 1am which is a fantastic blessing, but I have the flu – and I'm playing a pretty out-there raw character right now, so I've had a little trouble shedding it.
Nicole then thanked a number of actresses including Susan Sarandon who was also up for the award.
"I want to thank you for your trailblazing performances that you have given throughout your careers and how wonderful it is that our careers today can go beyond 40 years old." This comment drew a massive round of applause from the audience.
Sterling K Brown, 41, was also successful in the award stakes picking up a gong for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series.
However, people viewing the show were angered by the fact that Sterling K Brown was cut off mid-sentence as they blasted music out, signalling it was his time to exit the stage.
Annoyed social networkers came out in their droves to vent their frustrations about the speech saga. One Twitter user said: "Stop giving Nicole Kidman endless time giving her speech but then play music over @SterlingKBrown.".
While another continued: "Did the music really start playing to cut Sterling K Brown's speech AGAIN? sure let Nicole Kidman talk for seven minutes, cut Sterling off just shy of two minutes." A third added: "I find it really s****y and offensive that Nicole Kidman can get all day to talk but then you rush @SterlingKBrown off stage.
