Talking Yo-Yo Dieting, Fasting, and Infinity War with @Gormy_Goes_Keto - Duration: 45:16.

Hey! This week on the channel, I'm going to play for you the conversation that I

had with my friend Mike Gorman over Instagram Live. It's starting right after

this. Hey guys, Welcome to A.D. Keto. My name is Aaron. This is the channel where

you can watch a weird dad work his way through the ketogenic diet. I do some keto

eating vlogs, I do some keto product reviews, and I talk with some of my

friends from Instagram. If this is your first time here, please consider

subscribing, and if you do, make sure you're on Notification Squad by clicking

the bell. This week on the channel, I am talking to my friend Mike Gorman. He's a

really super-cool dude, who I connected with over on Instagram.

We both have suffered with yo-yo dieting, and I figured, "Hey, that's something we

have in common. Let's talk about that on Instagram Live."

And little did I know that his yo-yo dieting made MY yo-yo dieting look like

scale fluctuation. This is him at his heaviest. 540 pounds. And then he went

ahead and lost basically...me. He's lost 215 pounds in the last...say, year and a

half on keto. This is him now. Look at that difference! The head! The shape of

his head. I can't get over it. So we talked about a great many things,

including yo-yo dieting. We talked about fasting a little bit, and you know, one of

the things we connected with over Instagram was our love of Marvel movies,

and we went into some discussion of the most recent Avengers movie, Infinity War.

So when we get to that part, if you haven't seen it, be warned. There are

spoilers. We also talked a little bit about Hamilton, another thing that we

both really, really enjoy. I will add a caveat: my internet connection, about 15

minutes into this interview, went to garbage. I asked my children before

starting this session of Instagram Live, "Hey, kids do you think you could stay off

the internet for about an hour? I'm going to be chatting with one of my buddies

over Instagram Live." and they said, "Okaaay." And they made it about 15 minutes. You'll

be able to see the exact moment that they started watching YouTube videos

again, and surfing around the internet, because Mike becomes a gigantic blur. I

could still hear him fine, so we kept the conversation going. But for like, the next

20 or 25 minutes, he went completely blurry. But we had a great conversation. So I did

want to make it available to you, for you to check out if you wanted to. So here's

my conversation with Mike. I will be back after it's all over to wrap this video

up. So here you go! So how's it going Mike? It's good. How was

happy hour? It was potato skins, battered chicken wings, and bruschetta, so... Wow.

Not eating, but a lot of glaring at people as they ate. Are these all things you just stared

at? Yeah, pretty much. Pretty much. Yeah no, I checked out early, came home. I made

dinner. Nice! What do you have? I made a skillet

pizza. Ooh! Yeah. I didn't even know what a skillet pizza was, honestly, until Scott

showed me what it was. I was like, "Oh, you just put cheese in there?! That's it?" Yeah,

oh yeah. Easy. It's incredibly easy. Definitely. And kinda gives you that best part

of the pizza. The crispy parts. Absolutely, man!

Definitely, definitely. Cool. So! Let's talk about some stuff. I think... for anyone who

doesn't know, this is Mike Gorman, also known as @gormandiz... or formerly

@gormandizer73, now @gormie_goes_keto. Right. Yup.

The guy has basically lost, I think your heaviest weight was like was 520 or

something like that? 540. 540. And you're now... what are you

now? Uh... depends on the day. I'm like I'm around 315 right now, probably. So [you've lost] me, I think. I'm 215.

So just imagine you're giving me a piggyback, and you've just gradually lost me. That's

incredible, man. That's absolutely crazy. so why don't you talk a little bit about

you -- where you started, when you... you know,

just decided to kind of to start. Sure! Uh well I've been heavy my

whole life, so dieting was never a new thing to me. I was put on Weight Watchers

at ten years old, and my weight just kind of kept going up and going up and I lost...

I'm amazingly good at losing weight and gaining weight. I have like this

superpower to go in either direction, and spent most of my life as an adult over

450 pounds. A solid five or six years over 500. And it's funny, because I didn't

initially decide I was gonna diet when I was 540. I actually I had moved across

country for a job, and, you know, to be with some people, and it just didn't work

out. And the work didn't work out, so I ended up... you don't have money, so you

start losing weight, cuz you don't have money to buy all that food. Right. Yeah, it's

good stuff. So my weight started slowly coming down. Back to the East Coast, and

as soon as I found work, my weight went right back up again.

Not up as high as it was, but up to the high 400s, so like the 480-490 range, and

then I did decide that I wanted to do something about it in... it was late 2011,

it was around the start of 2012 that I really started losing weight that time,

and by May of 2013, I was down to 210 pounds. Wow. Yeah. Dude, that's fast.

Yeah, it was fast, and it was... I started with just Paleo at that point. I was just...

wasn't even watching... I was still like, doing sweet potatoes, and you know, honey

at times, and all that stuff. And then I started... once things... obviously, when

you're losing weight, especially when you're losing a large amount of weight,

you start to slow down eventually. Yeah. I mean, you have to reassess, and... and

recalibrate. And I started recalibrating with low carb, and went really low carb,

and started doing... and didn't know about fasting at that point, like as an

official thing. Like really, so this was like 2012-2013.

There was no one talking about it, and telling you that you could do a day fast,

a two-day fast, or whatever. I was just winging it. Yeah. And I don't think

I was approaching it with the right kind of mental headspace. I think I...at that point

thought I just needed to starve myself, like a... like a punishment kind of thing?

Yeah. And I wasn't thinking about electrolytes, and you know, what did I

need to be taking in, and what was my nutrition like? It was just at that point

it was like a race to lose more weight. Obviously not the the best thing

psychologically, so I get my lowest weight, which was around 210 pounds, in in May of

2013, and then I broke. Like, broke. From there, I just decided, "This isn't... this

isn't me. I don't want to do this, I don't know how to live like this." And I went from

one extreme to the other, and within... it was... the next time I really weighed

myself officially was October of that year, and I was 480 pounds. Wow. Yeah. So in

almost five and a half months, around five and a half months, I had put on 270

pounds. Holy cow! I didn't realize that it was such a short amount of time. That is

amazing. Holy cow. So like... it's funny, one of those things you look back on, it's like,

"I wish I had been weighed by a doctor so I could submit to Guinness and say, "Has

anyone gained 275 lbs. in five months?" Like, I don't know. I don't WANT a world record, but if you're going to give it to me... I'll take it!

That was, you know, it was... that was... To say that was a dark time was... it was

probably accurate. I hid a lot, because I had reached a point where I was eating

so few calories, and really kind of messing my body up, that the weight came

on fast. Like, hard and fast. Obviously. But I put out a hundred pounds in 30 days,

that first 30 days. I say...I describe it as that I could feel myself getting

bigger every day. But it was like, you're rolling downhill, and don't know how to stop.

Oh, man. And I was so... I think food addiction is something I...you know, a word

some people throw around. I think it's real in me.

I've talked to some counselors about it, and I think it's an accurate description

at that point, because I could eat, and I didn't care. I didn't really care. And I

kind of then, lived life not caring for a couple of years, just like, as long as

there was food, I didn't care. And I reached a couple points where I started

to realize that I was developing health problems. I'm a notorious doctor-phone.

Hadn't been to a doctor in many years, and was realizing that I was gonna end

up having to go to a doctor, if I didn't make some change, to go to a doctor in an

emergency room, if I didn't make some change. Yeah, also I have some things change in

my family around that time, too -- this was 2017 -- that I just knew, I hate saying like

... I have that, uh... you know, that moment of awakening, or something along those

lines. Like, it's very cliche, but it was really, I had that moment where I

realized, "Okay, there are people here that wouldn't be okay if I wasn't around

anymore, and...and NEED me to be here, and... and need

me to be here not just for right now, but for 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, and

need me to be able to move, and to be able to help with things, and do things along

those lines, and so I recommitted, kind of woke up, and that's... that time around, I

had started... I've been doing a lot of research during that time. I was still

researching. Right. I knew... I knew more about keto as a thing. I had learned a

little bit about keto before, but it was still fringe. It was still like, not

really being talked about. There weren't books everywhere. There weren't Instagram

pages everywhere. Right. But in 2017, it you know, was blowing

up. So it was easier to find resources, and it was amazing to me,

because when I dieted in 2012-2013, when I went to Whole Foods, I could find like,

ONE kind of coconut oil, and ONE kind of almond butter, and ONE kind of almond

flour. And now, I go to like, the regular supermarket, and it's unbelievable. It's

insane. You know, you can get pastured eggs at a regular supermarket now. Like,

it's... food quality has changed a lot in the country in the past five years, so,

that's awesome! I'm hopeful that things are moving the right way, you know? Definitely, definitely. So I got

back on the Keto Train, got myself going, there. Decided that Keto was what I

wanted to do. I still...I do I call it a keto/primal

hybrid. I try to avoid... you know, processed foods, and I know there are some people

like... I'll I'll eat Halo Top, I'll eat Enlightened, you know, every so often I'll

do those things, but I try to avoid things with grains, and stick to the

paleo-type stuff. Yep. Do more well-sourced dairy. And I'm a big... I'm big into like,

well...well-raised meats, and well-taken care of animals, and all that stuff. So I

got back on the keto train, did pretty well, actually, at that point. And I was

470 in February of 2017. I actually got down to the 380s by the summer. Wow!

Took a month off, because I had... just another one of those moments where I was

like, "What am i doing? This is going crazy." And put on 40 pounds in a month.

And then I had the moment of, "If you don't stop doing this, you're gonna die.

Like, you're gonna kill yourself. Like, so what are you doing? Like, if we're

gonna be okay with that, let's just be okay with it, and if we're not, something

needs to change." So I got back... that was September. I got

back into making changes in September, and you know, have been keto all the way

through. I mean, I had a little bit of a scare over the winter, in December. I got

hospitalized with pneumonia. Oh, boy. Yeah, I was in the hospital for 15 days. But

one of the things that I learned when I did that was that I was doing the right

thing, because I know that if it had been six months, seven months prior, and I was

470 pounds, the outcome wouldn't have been the same. it almost killed me this time

around, and...

I think I was able to survive it, because of what I was doing, how I've been, you

know ,working on my health. So you know, not so quick nutshell, but that's kind of

where I was, where I am now. Wow, thank you for sharing that. It is so fascinating, and just

to hear the ups and downs. Like, you know, when we decided to get together and talk

about this stuff, we were like, let's do yo-yo dieting. I feel like that's something

we both kind of dealt with. But man, my yo-yo dieting is not anything compared

to what you have been through over the past, you know, few years. It's crazy. So

how does it feel... Does it feel different now? Like, this is...

what your second time around, kind of seriously through doing with keto? Does it

feel different now than in the past? Because I know that when I yo-yoed, it

was sort of like, I'd get to a place where I felt super, super-uncomfortable,

and a switch would flip, and I'd go the other way. And you know, just count

calories and get down to where I was comfortable, but then it was hard. And I

didn't want to keep doing it, and I'd just let it go the other way, until I

got all the way back up to where I was, and just back and forth, losing the same

70, 80 pounds for like, two decades. But then when I found keto, it was like, this is

different. Something's different, here. And this is sustainable for me. Do you have

thoughts about that? Does it feel similar to you, or how does it feel now that

you've sort of come back with keto again? Definitely. I think it's similar. I

think it's... I think in my head, I think what I realized this time was that when

I did it last time, I was focusing more on just losing weight, and having to lose

weight, and I wasn't thinking about what was going on with me mentally, and what

was I doing to my body physically, and all of those things. And I think this

time around, I decided if I'm going to get healthy, I have to get healthy in ALL

aspects, and I knew for me that low carb, and even keto, is something that I can

sustain. That I can be happy while I'm doing it. I think my... my deviations

usually, honestly, it's because I think when I get into that kind of gaining

again piece, it's because I just... I convinced myself that everything's okay.

You know, that I'm great now, and I can move, because, I mean, to be a hundred

percent honest, like when you're as heavy as I have been many times in my life, you

can't move that great. So walking, you know? Going to the store.

I mean, when I was five hundred forty pounds,

I wasn't shopping at all, in stores. Everything I got was delivered.

Everything I got was delivered. If I had an emergency and needed something like

in that moment, I would find a store where I knew the walk was less than 20

feet to get into the store, and I'd go when there was no crowd. Wow.

So when hit the point that your mobility starts to come back, and you can start to

fit into things, and buying clothes is easier, you start to say, "Hey, maybe you're

okay where you are now. Maybe you can control it this time. Let's... let's let's

go back to food. Let's see what happens." You know? And you start to play games and

convince yourself, and I think the different thing this time around is I'm

catching myself when I have those thoughts, and it's it's funny, because we

talk about the body and the mind being connected, and I really think the way I

eat now has made me stronger mentally. Like, I think it's prepared me to handle

those moments where it's never my body playing tricks on me now, it's always my

mind. Exactly. You know, it's not my body saying, "I don't physically crave sugar anymore". I

don't...you know, that doesn't happen. When I want sugar, or something sweet, I know

it's because there's something going on in my head.

So I think this time around, I'm being more aware, more cognizant of

what I'm doing, and I'm... and like you said, like, I think people from the outside

look at keto, and they say, "it's not sustainable. There's no way you could do

this for your life. Like, there's how can you live?" I saw... there was a post someone

said, you know, posted today, "How could I live without bread for the rest of my

life?" I like to say, "I've had enough bread for about ten lifetimes." I'm not depriving

myself. I'm not being mean. If I reach a point where I'm like, "I wish I could have

cake." Dude, you've sat down and you've eaten a birthday cake for twenty people

alone. You've had enough cake. You know? There's other things you can do. Exactly.

It pulls you back, and it makes you think like, okay. And it really...and this is

something that like, helps me when I... when I get into reset mode, and things

along those lines, like I think about, "How does the food I eat make me feel?" And I

know I feel better when I eat this way. I know that's true. And I know when I go

off, I'm gonna purposely be hurting myself. Right. So I think less... I'm less in

that place of being okay with that hurt now, I think that's important. It's all...

it's all about mindset, and it's about you know,

recognizing those things, and if I feel like I'm so much better...I don't know if

anyone else has seen this, but I can hear you perfectly fine, but you have been

frozen on screen for me for about the last three or four minutes. But I can

hear you, so we'll just keep going. Weird. Am I still moving around? You can

see everything okay? Oh yeah you should you get slow every so often, or a little

pixelated, but beyond that, I can hear you perfect. All right, cool. All right, well

we'll just keep going. And so I know that you've just finished...oh we're good.

What's that? Now I can't hear or see you. Okay. I know you just finished a really

long fast, and you want to talk a little bit about how long he went for, and what...

what it was like for you? Sure, sure. I just finished a 78-hour fast. Well,

it was set to be 78. The place I was eating dinner last night took long

making my food, so it went on...but I started Sunday after brunch, and I my goal was to

go until dinnertime on Wednesday night. So it's like little over three

days, which isn't the longest I've ever done. I've done longer before. Just a couple

weeks ago I did 70 hours, and I tell you, it was... I felt so good, especially that

second... second day, like between hours... you know, 24 and about 60, felt so good, about

hour 60, I started like thinking about eating again. But those... the middle of

that fast felt just so great, like when that... you know, the autophagy really kind

of kicks in, and you're going all...it's all ketones, and nothing else. Man. Yeah,

felt great. So is that something you're gonna continue doing like how how often

do you see yourself doing extended fasts like that?

I want to try to do it a two or three day once a month, is what I'm thinking.

The longest I've done is a seven-day. I'd like to do that again. Sometime probably

after the summer. I don't think I'm ready to do that again quite again. What's that...

Yeah, I was gonna say -- how was that? Was it tough, or like, how did it go for you? That

one was really interesting. It's simple it's the same... like what you talked about

was, I think, right spot on. The fast from like 24 hours to 60 or 60 or so is

amazing. Um, really amazing energy, and then you get into that mode of..."there's

only 12 hours left and then I'm gonna get to eat." And and I was

breaking my fast with a salad, so it wasn't like I was diving into a pizza. I

had a pound ribeye waiting for me. I was having a salad with grilled chicken on

it. But I literally, all day was like "I'm gonna have salad. There's a SALAD coming. This is going to be great!"

That's something that I definitely need to work on. I think like I definitely did not

stick the landing on the refeed when I started eating again.

I had an avocado, and that was it for like, a half an hour. Had an avocado,

waited about a half an hour, felt really good, but then I just destroyed like

this, it was this ribeye that I had. It was I think 18 or 19 ounces, and just... there was

nothing left. Yeah. I ate it really, really fast, and I kind of

felt... not good after, but next time I'm just gonna ease a little bit

ease into it a little bit better, but yeah it's something I want to... I want

to continue. I liked how I felt during the fast. I feel like I want to feel that... you

know, that middle part of it again. I really liked how that felt.

So another thing I know that you're attempting soon is Whole 30, is that right?

What is the...what brought you to that decision, to do Whole 30? Sure.

Well, Whole 30 is something I've done before, I've done it five or six times

over the past five or six years. I do it when I feel like some things are getting

out of control, when I need focus. I feel like that idea of really paring

down what I'm eating, and getting back to basics, and having to

get more creative with protein, vegetables, and fats gives me a little

bit of a better focus, and also I know and I posted about this today, like nut

butters are something I have trouble controlling. Like, I I was I wasn't joking.

You have a crate of them in your house! I have it literally, literally a

crate of them. Like I I'm thinking I gotta get them all together, and do a

picture, so people will actually believe. Because I've got like, six different

kinds of Legendary butter. I've got pecan butter, I've got the keto

butter, and then I realized I have three kinds of coconut butter in my house. Like,

if you can make a butter out of something, I got it in my house. Cheese is

also something I have have trouble with putting the brakes on. So Whole 30

lets me take those out of the equation, and see how I feel, remind me

how good I feel when I don't overdo those foods. Gives me some focus, and just

like the keto community on Instagram is really great, the Whole 30 community

is really awesome, too. So it's fun to dip your feet back into another place, and

see what other people are doing, and get some cooking inspiration, and

all that jazz. So I like challenges, and so when something... if someone has

something like, I don't know if you ever heard of the 21-day sugar fix? I can

imagine what it is. Yeah, it's back in... you know, six, seven years, five, six years ago,

it was one of the bigger, like "get sugar out of your life" kind of like,

set set of challenges. And I did that a couple times. I did the Whole... I found the

Whole 30, I found the Whole 30 I think in 2011 or 2012, like before you

know, it was even really that big thing, and I like... I like that idea of

saying, "Can I do this for 30 days, and can I see what can happen? Like, will I be

able to survive this?' I'm doing a Whole 30, I'm starting Sunday, and the fourth

of July is three days later. Yeah. I...you know what? I've I've kind of been tossing

around the idea of doing something similar, and kicking caffeine to the curb

for July. I think that's a little too ambitious. I'll see if I'm actually able

to, but I do actually like challenges as well. Kind of keeps you focused, and not

deviating, if you know that there's like, a set target that you're gonna hit. It's

definitely helpful. I don't if I'm gonna make it, though. Well, caffeine, I don't even know if I could

do that. That's what... people are like, "What, do you do just drink water when you're

fasting?" I'm like, "No, I still have coffee, or I would go insane." But one of the

things that I like about the Whole 30 protocol is they talk a lot about

reintroduction at the end, and to be honest with you, a lot of times I just

gloss over it, and I'm like bring back to issues, bring to every... bring

back everything else. Right. And I I want to follow that protocol this time a

little bit better, just so I can... you basically, you... you get into this this set

period of time that you set up, and you will take a day and you'll say, "okay, on

this day, I'm going to reintroduce legumes, or dairy, or gluten free grains"

or something along those lines, and then you go right back to eating Whole 30

style for two days after, so you can record how your body actually feels

from adding that food...actually feels from bringing that food back, and

feeling what's goods about food. I got a white circle there you are you

still hear me? Hang on. No I can hear you. Had a little circle going

for a second. All right, I think we're still good.

You are still frozen from like ten minutes ago, that same face I've been

looking at for the last ten minutes. But you're coming through loud and clear, so

whatever. Weird. Choppy audio. We'll see. That's great, so you're starting that

soon. I'll be curious to see how it goes for you. Definitely definitely. Definitely. Think it's gonna be good. Yeah.

So the thing that... let's get to what this Live is really about, shall we? Sure. I

noticed your shirt has our favorite purple villain on it. Uh anyone who's in

here who does not want to hear spoilers for Avengers Infinity War, you might want

to... you know, maybe not listen. But Mike and I have been talking about talking

about ....we've been talking about talking about the Avengers, because I've seen it

twice now. Have you seen it more than once? I have now seen it four times. Whoo!

Well then! Okay okay. So shall we talk big picture first? Like,

what what do you think is happening? What do you think? Well, I I gotta be honest.

The original Infinity Gauntlet story. I'm a comic guy. So that's... I was a

kid when that story came out, and that story blew me away,

because there was no... it wasn't a graphic novel at that point, with all six books

together. It was... I get an issue, and wait a month. And so I hit you where Thanos

snaps his fingers, and that was the end of an issue.

Everyone goes away, and you're like, "Okay, what's happening? What's going on? What's

happening next?" There was no... there really honestly, there wasn't even internet then.

So there was no way like, to go online, look for spoilers, or any of that. Exactly. Oh I

went into this movie thinking, "Are they gonna do it? Will they do it? Like, do they

have the balls to do this?' like,

so I'm sitting though the whole first viewing, I'm like, "Okay, get through this. I

don't...Yeah, cry. That's great, Thanos, you know, you have emotions. This is great, oh wow.

You know, Star-Lord's an idiot. This is great." You know, oh and then

I'm like, "Oh my god, they did it." and It's cool that they did. And like, teenage young young

kid me is there, and I'm like, bawling. Yeah. Like, and one of the people that was with me was like, "Well, they have

to all be OK." And I'm like, I know what's gonna happen. I know what's happening, but

still they brought it to life. They went there, and I I don't think... I don't think

they can do what they did in the comic book, in terms of what they have set up

in terms of everything. So I think it's gonna be interesting. I don't know if we

want if you want to get into what I think is gonna happen, or like it where I...

I would love to. But let me just... because I... I never read it

Infinity War / Infinity Gauntlet when it came out. I read it a few years ago when

the movie was announced. I was like, 'I better see what this is all about." Read

it, Really, really liked it, and I really appreciate how they are not beholden so

stead... steadfast to the source material. Like, they're using it as like a

springboard, and doing something new. Which I really like. So I'm I'm curious

too, as to what you think will be the resolution of everything.

I think they introduced this element of Thanos

and Gomorrah and I think they're gonna have to play on that. I think there's

gonna be a play on that of some kind. And if they end up creating a moment of

weakness where they can get the stone from Thanos that way, or they be a part

of the recreation, and I'm not sure what direction they'll take it. I know they're

gonna bring everyone back. I know there's no way on earth they're gonna make a

billion dollars on Black Panther... Right. And destroy Black Panther. And the second time I saw

the movie, I was with a...it was the week after it came out, it was... I was in this

full-packed IMAX theater, and as soon as he disappears this woman stands up

behind me and goes, "Oh boy, they didn't Effin' do that, did they?!"

And I'm like, "This is amazing." Like this like and this whole crowd was like.. and I

know Spider-Man's gonna come back. They're gonna do

that. I think what's gonna end up happening is someone's gonna have to

sacrifice themselves, I have a bad feeling it's gonna be Captain America. I

do to. Because he was the one that talked about

"we don't trade... we don't trade lives." Yeah. And I think in the end, it's gonna come

down to him having to trade his life, and I don't I think captain Marvel's gonna

get involved. I can't wait for her to show up. Like, I think that's gonna be

great. I'm worried that it's not... I mean she's gonna have her own movie. I would

just worry that it's so... we won't have enough time to be invested in her as a

character before she has this crazy role in this resolution, you know what I mean?

All these other characters we've known for ten... you know, five, six, seven, eight,

nine, ten years, and she's got a movie coming out three months before.... Right.

you know, Avengers 4. The thing that strikes me as interesting is that they

just announced the title of the new Spider Man sequel.

Have you heard? I haven't seen that. I won't tell you. I won't spoil anything. But just the

fact that this is... that the new Spider-man movie comes out three months

after Avengers 4 kind of paints them into a corner and marketing-wise. Like, I

don't know how they promote Spider-Man writing a sequel if he's dust, you know?

Right. Three months before. But I will say that last scene where everyone's dustin'

up -- the... the first person to go is Bucky, if I recall correctly. And I was like, "WHAT?!" and as

soon as T'Challa went up in dust, I was like, okay. You know. It's all... none that

this is gonna matter. Yeah, because that's a billion dollar

movie. They have billions and billions of dollars to make from these characters.

But like, putting that aside? That was so ballsy. Like, if you don't take that into

consideration. Someone going in without knowing anything about Marvel, without

knowing anything about, you know, the movies that are coming out, that is such

a crazy decision to end the movie that way, where the bad guy wins, and

everyone's just left stunned? And oh I thought... I was... I loved that so much --

that they just did it, you know? I do like what you're saying about Gomorrah and

Thanks, though, and that he could be part of the solution, because that... that orange

place that he ended up yep after he snapped his fingers seemed to me like

the soul world from the comics, so maybe there is something... maybe he has a part

in undoing everything. Or who knows. Or her soul could be. That's it. I mean

I know. Honestly, I hadn't even thought about that -- like, her soul could be in the

gem. Like that's how that the stone came. Like...there's ...and they... because if

you've read the comic, you know that in the comic Thanos was in love with Death.

Yeah, Lady Death. He destroyed half the universe as a gift to Death. Yeah, which

you know is is much more insane, and I get why all the fanboys -- they're like,

Thanos is so much more evil than you're making him out to be. He's not a caring

person. I think the nuanced abusive relationship

of Thanos / Gamorrah is much more interesting, in terms of sympathy value,

and I think... I don't think though, that they can redeem him, but I think that

there is a way for...even if it's for her soul to distract him so that they... they

can get the Gauntlet from him, I mean and as far as right now, the gauntlet's burned out.

I was gonna say -- if it's totally messed up, right? It was... it looked lie it had been just

totally... destroyed almost, right? But we do know that the mold still exists, and was

it Nidavellir? Yeah. Maybe the heroes will make

a mold -- make another glove, so that they can try to get the stones back, and... right.

I would love for them to...In the meantime, I would love for there to be like an a

web series that's Iron Man and Nebula together, and like... I tell you -that's what I'm most

excited about for Avengers 4 -- is just to see Tony Stark and Nebula interact.

Like, that is a pairing that I never thought I needed, but I want to see all of

that. I want to see like, how... how are they getting off Titan. I guess... is the...

is that... what is... Star Lord's ship's still there, right? The Milano is still on... yeah. Oh

yeah, yeah, yeah. So maybe that's how about there so that's that's a good point with

that. I just think that they are two the biggest egocentric characters. Yeah! Like,

in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and so are they going to agree? They... I don't

think they can even agree on who's gonna walk in front of the other one, when they

have they have to walk in a straight line. I I think... I think that's gonna be

really interesting, like to see kind of just what happens there. I... did you see

the the interview with Gwyneth Paltrow where they say she might have let a

spoiler loose? Oh, no I did not. I don't know if you want me to talk about it, or

not, but...Sure! Basically, it's basically she, in this interview, says the different...

the difference in these movies now is that she Tony... she and Tony have a child.

So there's the idea that... and people say she could have meant Spider-Man or she

is actually pregnant... and ... you another thing that... she wasn't saying

that Peter Parker's our kid. That's crazy-talk. I like... well I will ...it was Gwyneth

Paltrow talking in Gwyneth Paltrow... you know, kind of metaphor... metaphor

language, like I don't know. But I don't know. Like, so is there gonna be... you know,

that motivation in the next movie? Like, because the other thing I'm wondering is

like, what was I thinking here's I can go down a rabbit hole with with theories.

Like, I wonder like... so what if they realize that the only way to fix things

is to use the time stone, and turn things back? Well, that's part of it right? So but

what if that also means everything that has happened since the snap has to be

undone, and there are some good things that have happened? Like we don't... we

haven't seen what happens. Yeah, so will it take away Tony and Pepper's child? Like,

are there things that could be changed by this that characters are gonna say I

don't..."It's sad that everyone's gone, but I

don't want you to change this." Like, and will...things get better? And if they undo

everything that happened since, Gamorrah is still gone, Loki is still dead. So who knows?

I was I just gonna say... oh the... I needed more Ebony Maw. I thought he was so

freakin badass. Just his little subtle... his subtle telekinesis. Oh yeah.

So menacing. I loved that guy. He got done dirty. He was using power like you want to see them

use power in a movie. He like... yeah mmm and we don't even know if he's dead, though. He was

floating around. I don't know. I guess. So yeah.

Yeah. I'm so excited for the next one, and I'm we already... we're purchasing

tickets for Ant-Man and The Wasp tomorrow. We're going to see it 4th of July

weekend. I do think there are some images that I saw, like set photos or whatever,

and I don't know if you've seen these, No. I don't know if I should talk about

these it's the Captain America -- It looks like the Battle of New York,

right? Oh yeah. And Tony Stark is there, Bruce Banner's there, Steve Rogers is

there, and Paul... and Paul Rudd is there. Ant-man is there. Scott Lang is there. So

there's definitely some sort of shenanigans happening, whether it's some

Quantum Realm stuff, or whether it's Time Stone stuff. Something wacky is gonna go

down. I DO want consequences, though. I do want...

Like, if Cap dies, and I love me some Cap, but if he's dead, I want him to stay dead, which

I think he will. Yeah I'd just don't want everything to be undone,

you know? I want there to be some sort of...I want death to stick, you know? So

Well, yeah, at least there's gotta be a price. The hero has to pay a price,

you know? Oh, Ben is a DC fanboy. Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.

I mean, well I'm kind of with him, too. Like I'm... Superman's where my heart is,

but I I mean, I love Marvel comics. But like I'm... I wish they would do it... I wish

DC could do a better job with their movies. I love the movies, like... but I just

wish they could make them for a wider audience, I guess. I don't know.

Yeah I'd say as a kid I was 90% Marvel, 10% DC. That's just the way I was raised.

Sorry. Um, could the next Spider-Man take place pre-Infinity War? I guess. I don't

think so, though. Yeah, it's not... I think they said it's after Infinity War. Yeah.

I don't know what... like, what has Aunt May been doing? Like that... that

cliffhanger in in Homecoming. Oh yeah, see I want to see the aftermath of that, but

I don't know if we ever will, because she knows stuff now, like she'll...she'll know

that he went up into space, you know? All that kind of crazy stuff. That was one we

would have gotten in Infinity War, was like a reaction from her. Right. When

Spider-Man like.... I know... it probably would have been trite for her to be able to us

have that confluence of events to be able to see it, or have it happen, but I

thought that would have been nice, because she knows. Like, we know she knows.

Right. Yeah, that was the best ending. Um, so what else you want to chat

about? Oh -- you're a Hamilton fan too, right? Oh yeah.

Hamilton, oh yeah. Have you seen the show? I haven't seen the show yet. I

haven't. It's crazy good. It's so good. Well that's it -- here's the crazy thing. So

I didn't know what... when I was hospitalized in December, I was supposed

to go to San Diego with my family for Christmas, for a big family... like a

two-week trip. Ended up having to go into the hospital. Was in the hospital so long

that my sister from San Diego came out here. She then had to reveal that she had

gotten tickets for us to go to Hamilton. Oh man. And... and she had to find someone

to buy the tickets, because she was out here with me, and none of us could see

Hamilton, so it's been like this thing over our head. Oh dude, I'm sorry.

Yeah, it's... that was... I'm like, okay, pneumonia almost killed you, but you

didn't get to see Hamilton. And that's probably the bigger price. That's going to kill you.

Right, right. So I ended up actually with some friends getting season tickets to

our local Arts Centre, because Hamilton is next season, and the theaters

are... basically said that if you don't have season tickets, it's gonna be really

hard to get tickets. Mm-hmm. So I did that and then I get a text from some friends

that live that live outside of New York who got into the lottery in New York to

get tickets. So now I have tickets to see it twice next year. Nice! Once in May, and

once in August. Oh, awesome! My boss went to see it during the

very last days of Chris Jackson's run as George Washington and I was so pissed.

Like, I mean, I saw it with a great cast. The guy who played Hamilton is...was Bobby

McFerrin's son. I can't remember his first name, but

he was awesome. You can't go wrong, but I really wish I had been able to see

at least one member of the original cast in it, just cuz I...you know, the soundtrack

is burned into my brain. Mm-hmm. But it was

so...such a crazy, crazy amazing show. There are so many things that...I was blown away

by Satisfied. Seeing Satisfied live with the 'rewind' thing? Too much. Too much.

And then from the moment George Eaker pulls the trigger on little Phillip

to the end, I was just a mess. Just eeughh.. I can't wait. My sister actually did just get

to see it, outside of LA a couple weeks ago. So I haven't spoken to her since,

because I'm upset. But she said, no it is. But it's funny, because I have like

little questions, and I'm like, "I need to know what happened this way like between

this song what happens?" She's like, I can't tell you. You have to see it

yourself. Because my big question is of course, what happens to Peggy?

Because Peggy's a part of a song, and I feel like she's there just so they can

have another person in the song, because then there's no more Peggy throughout

the rest of the songs, so I'm like I think that historically

speaking, Peggy went crazy. Did that.. Peggy Schuyler go nuts?

My wife is here, she knows. Not what I expected to hear you talking about! Yeah, Gormy is going to see Hamilton. I'm going to have to get the biography off of the bookshelf.

I don't want to spoil anything, but in real life, Peggy Schuyler -- did not she go insane?

Either she or one of her female relatives did, yes. Poor Peggy. AND Peggy.

I read that once... I think Peggy just marries someone and

kind of like fades off, in terms of the... actual historically, what happens

to her. Like, she marries someone who's like 25 years older than her, and just

like, moves on with her life. But it's... it just kills me, because they introduced

her in a song, and like, they sing about it, and then when they sing about the

Schuyler sisters again, they just sing their names, and you're like, "I

guess Peggy doesn't come to visit. She didn't get invited." You know, she wasn't invited.

Well that performer had to be... she had to change, so she could be Mariah Reynolds, so she

couldn't be both, I guess. Which continues the whole kind of weirdness of the inter-

inter-tackiness of who sleeps with whom, and sister is marrying sister. Crazy. And,

I know that Angelica Schuyler... firstly I know that there were male Schuyler

children, so that's right and I know that she was married before she met Hamilton,

I think. Or something like that. Anyway, you know, artistic liberties were taken,

and I'm totally fine with it. Of course! So dude, it thanks for chatting. I think we should...

that's a good place to wrap it up. Definitely. Outside of IG are there any

places where people can find you, or is IG kind of your thing? Instagram is

probably the best place. Instagram. @gormy_goes_keto.

Awesome, man. Well good luck with Whole 30. Excited to hear about it, and how it goes,

and keep killing it with...you know, I know you're gonna be far fewer pounds than 250

by 2019. I know that's your goal. I hope. So yeah, I think you're gonna destroy it.

So keep on keeping on, man. And we'll talk to you soon. Thanks, man. Sounds good. Thanks yeah!

Thanks for happening on, buddy. See you later, Mike! BYE! Bye, man.

So that's my conversation with Gormy.
