We present a travel book, characteristic for times when trips to distant regions
combined a dangerous adventure, observation of nature with hunting emotions.
Such a position is the work of Włodzimierz Korsak
"Towards the Indian Border" from 1926
Its lively story tells about the hunting adventures of a group of friends while traveling through Central Asia
(around the regions of Eastern Bukhara, Darwaz and Badakchan).
It contains numerous detailed descriptions residing there
species of animals and birds, supplemented by illustrations prepared by the author himself,
as well as descriptions of nature, cities and local people.
Its author, Włodzimierz KORSAK [1886-1973] was born in Anińsk in the Vitebsk Governorate with the Russian Partition.
He was a naturalist of a traveler and writer.
He visited the Caucasus, Turkestan and Afghanistan.
After a period of travel adventures in 1918, he settled in Warsaw.
He wrote books on nature, becoming an authority on hunting and nature issues.
In 1923 he received a position
Of the Chief Catcher of Commonwealth.
Later, among others he managed the goods of Jarosław Potocki.
Until the outbreak of the war he was also a hunter in the Directorate of State Forests in the Vilnius region.
After the war, he settled in Gorzów and took up a hunting position at the Directorate of State Forests,
also founded the Polish Hunting Association after the war.
He was active in the League of Nature Protection.
He also wrote a dozen or so books at that time about hunting, which he illustrated.
The presented book has a very nice cover, which is proudly represented by the representative of Central Asia fauna.
