A YouTuber called Riley J. Denis, who identifies himself as a "nonbinary transwoman".
If you think about that, and it's actually a contradiction in terms because
"man" and "woman" are supposed to be binary. Transwoman/transman is supposed to be a binary.
So how can you be a "nonbinary transwoman?"
But like, most of those guys are just taking the piss.
It's so obvious. But anyway...
I'm just gonna do a little commentary on his discussion on "gold stars" and "platinum gays."
Just to address some issues.
If you're a part of the queer community -
So we're in the "queer community" now?
You've probably heard the term "gold star lesbian" or "platinum gay" thrown around.
I have to admit, I've never heard of "gold star" gay men.
Or "platinum" gay men?
Maybe it's because I just don't hang around with enough gay men, or maybe it's an American thing.
If you've never heard of them before, here are some quick definitions.

'Cause I have no - I don't really know what you're talking about at this moment in time.
Riley: A gold star lesbian is a gay woman who has never had sex with a man.
"Gay woman"? The term for "lesbian" that people use when they don't want to say the word "lesbian" because it makes them uncomfortable.
Riley: A gold star gay is a [gay] man who's never had sex with a woman.
Yaay!
Riley: "Platinum gay" is a gay man who's never had sex with a woman and was born by C-section.
Sounds a bit tongue-in-cheek to me
I've not heard this term before.
I'd be amazed if anyone used it with any kind of seriousness about them.
Riley: The idea being that he never touched a vagina, not even at birth.
Yeah, gay men do seem to get a bit grossed out by vaginas.
Yet they talk about them an awful lot.
Hmm.. we [lesbians ]could probably be accused of that with penis.
And have (?) transgender people, actually.
I wonder why that is.
All of these terms are really problematic and harmful to the queer community.
Oh no! Another "problematic" and "harmful" term!
Do tell me more!
Here are six reasons why. Number one:
They're harmful to trans people.
Now why does it not suprise me that trans people are featured as #1 on your list?
They main way that these terms hurt trans people is that they tend to be based entirely on genitals.
Sex is kind of about genitals.
"Platinum gay" especially.
Bet this term really keeps you up late at night
worrying, I bet it really really plays on your mind, doesn't it?
That "platinum gay" term. Right.
There's already a lot of prejudice within the gay community towards trans men
QT (Queer and Trans Activists) and their notion that gays and lesbians oppress them... Stop.
They (QT) invited themselves in.
They weren't welcomed. They're mostly straight/bicurious people.
And they're boring, they're boring.
Because they're men who generally have vaginas.
Men don't have vaginas, mate. This is primary school stuff.
Creating a ranking system that clearly values people who've never touched a vagina -
It's not really a ranking system, it's more of heteronormative society
sees virginity as not having had sex with a member of the opposite sex. It's a way of taking that back
You obviously have no respect for that.
Because you have no respect for lesbians or gays.
Doesn't go over well for someone who actually has a vagina.
You really have no place telling lesbians and gays what language we can use to describe our experience.
It reinforces the awful misconception that trans men will never be "real men."
Yes, it's not actually the job of lesbians and gays to validate the identity of trans people.
And it puts a stigma on any gay man who wants to date a trans man.
Yeah, there's like zero stigma in men sleeping with female people.
The same goes for "gold star lesbian!"
I was wondering when he was gonna get to the point that he actually wanted to make.
While it's generally used to mean a lesbian who's never slept with a man,
it's often conflated with a lesbian who's never touched a penis.
Perhaps because that actually means the same thing.
And just like there are trans men with vaginas, there are trans women with penises.
Rational people do not agree with you.
Anti-trans terms like this have no place in the queer community.
There's no such thing as a woman with a penis.
#2: They're harmful to bisexual people.
Bisexual people aren't gay or lesbian.
How lesbians and gays describe themselves has really got nothing to do with them.
"Gold star" and "platinum" are clearly meant to give value.
They're meant to be good things.
How dare lesbians and gays feel good about themselves?
So a "platinum gay" is seen as more gay -
Gay men are being thrown off buildings right now across the world for being gay and this is your issue?
Or somehow a "better gay", because of his platinum status.
Grow up!
Bisexual people exist.
They do exist, but it's not the job of gays and lesbians to pretend that we don't exist
just to validate their identity.
One myth that bisexual people constantly have to confront is the idea that they're only "half" gay.
Lesbians and gays aren't responsible for oppression that bisexual people suffer.
Bisexual people feel same-gender attraction just as much as gay people.
Own. Your. Shit.
And their bisexuality shouldn't make them worth any less in the queer community.
What do you actually even mean when you talk about "worth"?
Really, what do you mean? Because at the moment, it's really not clear.
#3: They harm gay people who come out later in life.
Lesbians and gays come out later in life because of the homophobia they face in wider society.
Not because of the way they're treated by [other] lesbians and gays.
Ranking people based on who they've slept with is never a positive thing.
Where are you getting this from?
Even if someone is a cisgender gay person,
What the fuck is a cisgender person?
it's very possible that they've had sex with someone of a different gender before.
Yeah. Um...
Lots of gay people go through that before coming out.
For so many different reasons.
There are 2 situations. [In which a gay person sleeps with the opposite sex]

#4: They deny gay people room to experiment with their sexuality.
You liberal feminists are all about choice, but now you're saying that somebody's words
and how they're describing themselves is denying someone else?
How does that work?
Sexuality isn't as rigid as we like to pretend it is.
Regardless of your sexual orientation.
Nah. Speak for yourself, mate.
By creating these categories of "gold star" or "platinum gay,"
you're trapping people into the idea that they can never hook up with someone of a different gender.
I feel quite free being a lesbian.
And you're trying to take that away.
- or else they'll lose their gold star or platinum status.
I've never came across a single lesbian that worried about this.
Never. Not in my entire life.
Sexuality is a fluid and ever-changing thing.
Maybe for you, but I prefer women to men and I can't ever ever ever see that changing.
Accept that that's what homosexuality is.
Even though you might only be attracted to one gender right now,
"But you might change your mind one day."
You're literally sounding like my mother.
It's totally okay to experiment.
Yeah, I've been told that by so many fucking men.
Change the record already!
This is homophobia.
#5: They insult rape survivors.
Woah, that's some serious emotional blackmail you got going on there.
People would argue that you can't be a gold star lesbian if you've been raped by a man.
So what if you can't be one?
And I honestly can't think of anything more fucked up than that argument.
It's not an argument, it's just people describing their experiences.
And you shaming them for it, liberal.
Rape is not sex!
Rape is literally sex.
Gold star and platinum ranking put so much emphasis on what your genitals have touched
that many folks won't consider you gold star or platinum if you've been raped by someone of a different gender.
I honestly don't care if someone considers me gold star.
Ranking someone lower, even just implicitally,
by using these terms, just because they've been raped, is honestly sickening.
What are you doing?
Guilt-tripping gays and lesbians for not having sex with members of the opposite sex.
This is just getting ridiculous.
#6: Your source of pride doesn't have to harm others.
Yet more shaming.
When is it going to end?
Some people will say that the terms gold star or platinum are a source of pride for them.
When is it going to end?
They identify with these words.
And they make them happy. And that's great for them,
but these words don't exist in a vacuum.
You sound like a Catholic.
Gold star and platinum are inherently divisive
within in the queer community.
Have you ever considered going away [from that community]?
Because they create a hierarchy of queer people where some are "better gays" than others.
It's not that some are better gays than others,
it's that some are actually homosexual and others aren't.
I'm all for words that you can relate to and take pride in, but
not if those words are harmful to others.
Everything you've said up to this point has rendered everything invalid.
Shh!
You can take pride in being a lesbian or being gay
Just... Stop.
Gold star and platinum only serve to put other people down within the queer community.

You don't have to use those terms.
