The traditional education system is rooted in external assessment and extrinsic motivation

to perform well on exams and to do the best they can to have the highest rank in a school

to then get into the best university and then have the best job.

What's been lacking in the past, you know 50-100 years of schooling is that

intrinsic motivation of students pushing themselves to learn what they want to learn

and having the freedom to choose what they're learning is going to be about

and the opportunity to master those outcomes.

Out program the Change Maker curriculum is rooted in intrinsic motivation and

a mastery approach to assessment so students will have multiple rounds of feedback from experts and

their peers to gain skills to be better at the outcome.

It's not a one test, pass fail, you got an 87%, now it's time to move on.

It's really rooted in what does mastery look like in this task, how have you preformed now

how can you continually grow to master the task that you want to master.

One of the things that is changing in the digital age is this content mastery, and so

we're looking at mastery of skills because we find that they

translate better into the 21st century workplace.

With digital knowledge all around us, content mastery is something that could be

something of the past, unless your becoming a doctor or a lawyer.

Most real world application of knowledge comes in performance base

or mastery of skill based assessment.

So what we're saying is that with digital access to content, with google and the internet

constantly available, we want to make sure that students understand how to be

informationally literate to access that information, to understand how it's relevant in a 21st century context

but then also how to apply it.

That's the transformative nature of the new program, it's not just knowing the content

it's applying it to a bigger context or a more skill based assessment.

Whereas traditional schooling is really focused on content for the sake of content

we're focusing on content as a means to apply skills and different practices.

With our new program, the Change Maker Curriculum our goal is to one

cover the traditional content subjects that is going to make every university happy

and develop a system and a culture of academic rigor that is strong

We're also allowing for enough student differentiation

meaning students can find their own path through each module and then also through

personal projects find those things that they're very passionate about and give them the skills

and the scaffold and the confidence in themselves to support that endeavor.

So if I'm a fourteen year old student and I feel like I'm inclined to get into graphic design

the new program that we are designing allows 40% of our time dedicated to that student

to develop that craft, to make that their capstone project at the end of their time.

And to then possibly go on to start a business out of high school with their graphic design practice

become an app consultant and to work in any field because of their experiences in high school

So project base learning is one way that students can fuel their passions

and get high school credit for their passions rather than kind of towing the line of what traditional school says

and then trying in their tired moments of free time on the outside to develop passions

and to develop what they want to do in their life.

We are trying to kind of blend this social, emotional, leadership, character traits, passion driven

skill driven of how to accomplish your goals all into one education that is

place based that is global that is experiential that is surrounded by mentor in all of these fields

that can help students pursue whatever passion that they want, in a context of global travel and experience.

Our goal is to really make a curriculum that can live anywhere in the world and that

educators can adapt for their own place and so students can engage themselves in this type of learning

rather than a route content based, performance based assessment model.

I hope that the traditional school system will see the merit and the profound transformation

that happens in students when they learn in this way and I'm hoping that theirs kind of gonna be this

this common ground met between really experiential leaning and really content driven learning

because of the advances that information technology provide.

With google, which Khan Academy, with Crash course, with the Big History Project

with all these experts in the field creating accessible learning and data sharing to students

the sky is really the limit as to how we use that information

and provide a platform for students to jump off in whatever way they would like to.

In the U.S. especially becuase I find that the educational system to be a corporate endeavor,

an economic endeavor more then a learning endeavor, I'm hoping that we can see

more opportunities for students to curate their own path of what learning might look like

instead of jumping through the hoops and paying a bunch of money to get a PHD

which in my opinion is one way that we're keeping minority groups in the U.S. oppressed or outside of

the same opportunities that other subsects of American society that have access to.

Education shouldn't be for the rich and famous it shouldn't be if you can pay for a masters,

if you can pay for a PHD you get those, it should be merit based.

Hopefully through experiential learning, through hooking into students passions with

rigorous academic outcomes we'll see that learning comes in a variety of different forms and

expertise in subject areas can come in a variety of different forms not just

mastery of the traditional things that we've always used to asses what a really educated person is.

Following your passions and having the skills and the steps to get from passion to genius

or passion to artist or passion to expert those are open to a lot of people now

especially with mentor relationships and twitter and social networking

theirs so many opportunities to do incredible work that

schooling is not the only way to get from A to B.

Hopefully we can find this balance between traditional schooling and alternative schooling

where schooling as a whole can be engaging, meaningful, relevant to the real world

and involve some degree of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.

I'm just heading out for the new year's eve and I'm leaving Romeo here alone

I can't believe this

I walked past my turning, again!

Judging from the sound I'm getting closer to the city hall

There was a lot of people at the city hall

But there was plenty of room to jump in and feel out the atmosphere

Performer: "Okay, I know you guys have energy but I need to ask everybody else"

"Are you tired, Toronto?"

Audience: "NOOOO!"

So, Canada will be 150 years this year

And Finland will be 100 years

It's going to be a year of parties!

Performer: "People of Toronto"

"Tonight is not over"

"There's still Walk off the Earth"

"That's gonna play after us"

People were iceskating on that skating rink to the music

And the main performer of the night was Walk off the Earth

*Walk off the Earth playing*

Host: "If you're ready for 2017 make some noise!"

*People making noise*

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, WHOOOAAAA!"

Earlier I was thinking that what will I figure out for the new year's eve in a new city

when I don't know anybody yet

But in the end I had a nice time like this, by myself

looking around and enjoying the atmosphere

and get to know my new surroundings

I also learnt that people say goodbye to the old year by singing or playing "Auld lang syne"

in English-speaking countries

On new year's eve the subway was free for everybody

so it was pretty full after the firework when everybody was leaving

This is a wonderfully tuned car enthusiast's vehicle

Basically, it's a second generation of Audi's hatchback A3

The chassis of this vehicle is so good, that it's been in production for a whole decade

Before it's been replaced by the 3rd generation of Audi's A3 hatchback 3 years ago

In 21 years time, Audi has sold more than 4 million A3's

Yet, we can hardly ever see examples like this one

At the front, we can see the front bumper that used to belong to an Audi A3 S-line

Also this mask, is from a newer model and it's also modified

Chromed parts of the mask were removed and painted in black matte color

The vehicle is also lowered with FK Automotive adjustable suspension

Which makes the lowest part of the car only 5 centimeters above the ground

The biggest WOW is offered by 19-inch ALU wheels

Such as we can find on an Audi A6, with dimensions 225/35/19

The rear had also had changes done

The bumper is from a facelift series of this vehicle

Also the lights are new

And the spoiler is also - like the front bumper - from an Audi A3 S-line

A lot of changes are also in the inside

The whole ceiling and some of the details are covered in black

So, now we're inside

Now...most of the equipment comes as standard

The biggest change is this Pioneer car stereo

Which features a touch-screen

And is connected with a sub-woofer in the boot

The car is also very "lively"

It's powered by a 1.9-litre Turbodiesel engine

Which as standard produces 105 BHP

But this one...is bound to produce a bit more

It consumes 5-7 liters of fuel per 100km

Thanks to an efficient engine

Because the chassis is very good, and not a very long wheelbase

It handles, like it's suppose to

It's got enough space for 4 people

And with 330 litres of boot space

Enough space for all the luggage you need

Practical

Low

Fast

And efficient

Everything you need, in just one small package
