AudioSculpt 2: A simple treatment
Hi ! in this video, we are going to transform a sound with a combination of different treatments available in AudioSculpt.
Let's open a sound. [oboe sound]
We notice that this sound is quite stable in amplitude and its spectrum is harmonic.
it suggests to manipulate its pitch and gain.
Let's put first an amplitude treatment : "gain envelope".
A treatment zone just popped up in the treatment sequencer on the whole file duration.
it's possible to shorten, lenghten, duplicate the zone.
The menu File > New track (or cmd+R) displays an empty treatment track, to superimpose different treatment zones.
The main parameters for each zone are accessible under the form of a bpf (breakpoint function), a curve, if you like.
Its manipulation is very intuitive.
Let's draw a small amplitude envelope on that sound, rather with negative values.
There is a preview mode to listen to the results without creating a new file.
Let's now put a pitch treatment (transposition).
Rather than drawing a new curve, We'd like to transfer the gain curve as a transposition curve.
We'll naturally need to change the values, but we'll keep the shape of the curve.
Let's select all the points on the curve (cmd + a) Copy.
Paste on bpf.
As the amplitude values are different from the gain values,
AudioSculpt asks if the values remain the same or must be scaled to coherent transposition values.
We want that, so let's click "yes".
Now that all the points are set, let's select all the transposition curve
and put the mouse on a higher border of the zone.
The mouse cursor takes the shape of 2 arrows, that invites to pull the zone up or down.
Hence we can modify the zone size, its values and also move all the zone.
Once we are satisfied with the results, validated by the preview listening,
let's export a new sound file via Processing > Process treatments.
