Youtube daily report Apr 25 2018

[Intro piano music plays]

Welcome to Get Thready With Me!

This is the YouTube show

where I try and sew a piece of clothing.. or two

from scratch and I take you all along with me for the ride.

Lately I've been learning how to draw my fashion ideas down

onto physical pieces of paper,

so that they're not just forever stuck up in my imagination

and then .. forgotten.

Because I think that I'm not very good at drawing

– well, cause I'm not –

but because of this drawing down my fashion designs

is something that I've avoided doing for years.

However something that really helped out in that regard were

these free fashion templates from Pret-A-Template.

All I gotta do is trace over the figure

and then I can draw my clothing designs down onto that figure.

This isn't sponsored, by the way

I've just been finding it a super useful way to teach myself how to

draw fashion designs.

So in today's video, I'm going to be trying to bring these two particular

designs of mine to life, which is 1:

This cute ruffly blouse

and 2: this dress.

To make both of them, I'm going to use second-hand fabric.

The dress' fabric is from a large bolt of second-hand fabric

that I inherited from my uncle, whereas I found the pink fabric for the blouse at

a thrift shop just a few weeks ago

actually I think this "fabric" was originally a baby's quilt cover…

so, I'm sorry if I'm ruining someone's precious childhood blanket...

No, but I'm actually using this because the fabric actually looks like it's

in pretty good condition, it doesn't look like it's been used at all

and I really liked the design on both sides of the blanket - one side has a pink

gingham, and the other, these cute botanical graphics on pink.

So what I first did was to rip out the stitches holding the two squares of fabric

together, through the opening here.

And I'm going to use this piece of fabric to make my blouse,

and I'll leave that pink gingham aside for another project.

So in this video I'm going to go through the process of how I make the blouse but

I made the dress in exactly the same way, the only thing that is different is the

length of the fabric that is used for the skirt compared to the ruffle

but I'll go through the difference between them when I get up to it in the tutorial.

So, let's get started!

The inspiration for this top came from a t-shirt that I recently thrifted,

two of them, in fact.

I managed to find this white and black t-shirt both in the same size and style

at my local Vinnies - I really like the loose-fitting top with this

ruffly sleeve design.

It's also a sleeve style that I've recently been seeing all over the place.

So I used all of these as inspiration for both a dress and a blouse that will both

fit me and that are both going to be constructed using identical sleeve

and bodice shapes.

So the first thing that I need to do is to turn this design into a paper pattern,

that I can use to cut out my fabric!

I used THIS slightly large, loose-fitting t-shirt as the base for my pattern design.

Using a basic piece of clothing whose style and fit you really like on you

can be a good first step in creating patterns for your own designs

and from there you can change and manipulate the pattern and fabric type

to create your own individual piece of clothing.

It's a technique that even professional fashion designers will often use!

To make the pattern, first I folded this basic t-shirt in half, like this,

and placed it down onto some pattern paper.

Then, using two taped-together pencils – this is a neat trick to quickly add seam

allowance to your pattern piece – I traced around the main bodice part of the t-shirt

ignoring the sleeves.

So I traced around the outsides of the t-shirt, and when I

got to the arm-hole seam, I placed my finger on top of this seam and I drew some

marks underneath, at the point where my finger was, which I then joined up into

one continuous line.

Also, I wanted to make the bodice-pattern high-waisted, or cropped,

so I alson shortened the length of the pattern here as well.

And after cutting it out of the paper, this is what this basic block

pattern looks like.

Now that I have my basic bodice piece, which I know will fit me well because

it's based off a nice, loose-fitting t-shirt, I am going to change certain

parts of it to give me the fit and style that I want.

So, compared to the original t-shirt, I wanted a design with a slightly wider

and lower neckline on both the front and back, a drop-shoulder, I also wanted it

to flare out a bit at the bottom of the bodice, and also to curve up

slightly towards the sides.

So, I taped the basic bodice pattern onto another piece of butcher's paper and

I made these adjustments onto the new paper.

So, I'm going to put two points here and here to make a wider, deeper neckline;

Down the side here is going to stay the same, because I want it to remain

about the same width or loose-ness as the t-shirt, I'm just making sure that the

line is totally straight so that this edge of the pattern can be placed on the fold

of my fabric.

For the drop-shoulder, I extended the shoulder seam line down to here,

which also means that I'm going to have to

change the shape of the armhole;

I actually made the armhole completely straight, because I'm going to be

attaching a straight rectangle piece (the gathered sleeve) to this armhole.

But because I don't want to change the overall width of the bodice, I brought

that armhole line back towards where the side-seam is going to be, and I also then

curved this line, just to make it more like an armhole and improve the fit a bit.

I also wanted the bodice to flare out a little bit at the bottom, so I made the

side-seam line flare out a bit from the original pattern,

AND finally I wanted a slightly curved hem for the top, so I made this line end

a little bit shorter than in the original pattern on this side and I drew a curved

line from the other side up to this point.

Importantly, I also made sure that both these angles were as close to

90-degree right-angles as possible.

So I drew down all the straight lines and then removed that old paper

pattern to add the new curved lines, onto my new pattern.

To create some of those curved lines on my new pattern, I used a French-ruler,

which is this curvy ruler here.

For some of the less curvy-curves, I just kinda eyeballed them when I drew them.

So this is going to be my final bodice pattern piece; and finally, I'm going to

add important pattern markers onto it – this is the double-headed arrow that

shows you how to place the pattern along the grainline of a woven fabric, or along

a stretch if you're using a stretchy fabric.

This line here shows you where the pattern needs to be placed on the fold of the

fabric, and I also drew the seam-allowance back in onto the pattern, using that

double-pencil trick, (although this time, I drew the seam allowance onto the inside

of that outer line I had already drawn on, because we already included the seam

allowance in the previous, older pattern)

This is just going to show me where I will need to stitch.

I made a couple of adjustments here and there, just because I thought I could

improve the fit a little bit…

And finally, I wrote down the label for this pattern piece, which is going to be

called the front and back bodice.

I'm going to cut 2 of these out of the fabric, on the fabrics fold, (both the

front and back will be identical) and they will make up the entire bodice piece.

Okay, so onto the sleeve ruffle pattern – this is a lot simpler!

I wanted the sleeve ruffle to be around 1 and a half times the width of the

sleeve opening, to allow for some nice gathers in the sleeve fabric.

So I simply drew down a rectangle that was 1.5 times the width of the sleeve opening,

so, the width of the sleeve opening on my pattern was about 7 inches and 3 quarters

so I made the sleeve pattern about 11 inches, 3 quarters wide.

(that makes it 1.5 times the width of the armhole opening)

And I wanted the sleeve on the final garment to be about 4 inches long,

so I made the rectangle 5 inches long, across here, because that will include

hemming and seam-allowance on both sides of the rectangle as well.

So, I drew out a rectangle that was 11 inches, 3 quarters wide and 5 inches long.

Because the actual top is going to be 3-dimensional and the sleeve is going

to be attached to an armhole circumference made out of TWO of these

bodice armhole openings, the sleeve rectangles that I need cut out will need

to be doubled in width; so I placed a marker down HERE, where the fabric

will be cut on the fold, to make this rectangle DOUBLE this width.

And because I have 2 arms, I need 2 sleeve ruffles, so I'm going to cut it out twice

so I added a X2 marker along with the label, reminding me that I need to

cut it out twice.

These are the two pattern pieces that I essentially need to get this started–

I'm also going to have to cut out some bias binding for the neckline and also a

rectangle that will create the ruffle on the top, or skirt on the dress;

but I won't be needing pattern pieces for these because they're very simple,

they're just going to be rectangles, and I can just cut them out from the fabric

later on.

Now it's time to use these pattern pieces to cut out the fabric!

I folded my fabric in half, and I set my bodice pattern piece on top, lined up the

straight edge with the fold of the fabric, and then cut around the pattern

using my rotary cutter.

Unfolded, I have this piece of fabric.

I repeated this, exactly the same to give myself 2 identical pieces of fabric,

and these 2 pieces will make up the FRONT and BACK of the bodice.

Then I cut out the sleeve ruffles, in the exact same way,

giving me these 2 matching rectangle pieces.

I'm going to be using bias binding to finish off the raw edges of the neckline,

and I'm going to make my own bias tape using the same fabric!

You'll notice that the bottom edge of the fabric already has some creases in it

But I'm going to use this already-creased fabric to my advantage, because

bias binding is, essentially, a long thin strip of fabric that has a

crease down the middle.

So I cut off this bottom piece of the fabric in a long thin strip

to use as bias binding for the neckline!

Bias tape is USUALLY cut on the diagonal of a woven fabric

to give it maximum stretch…

however I've cut mine along the grain of the fabric, because I don't have enough

fabric to cut it on the bias.

I think I cut it along the weft… but I always get warp and weft confused –

whichever is the direction that gives you the most stretch on a woven

(that is, non-stretchy fabric), well, that's the direction in how I've cut

my bias tape – and I usually find that this works out just fine!

For the ruffle on the very bottom of the blouse (or for the skirt on the dress)

I'm going to cut that out after I've already constructed the basic top part,

because the width of that piece is going to depend on how wide my top is.

To sew the top together, first I placed the front piece down, right-side up,

and then placed the back piece on top, right side down.

So, the two pieces are sandwiched right-sides-together.

Then I sewed them together at the shoulder seams.

Next step is attaching the bias binding around the neck hole that I just created.

So you'll remember that my bias tape already had a crease down the centre.

I made sure this crease would stay by giving it another iron.

I ironed that

lonnng strip in half lengthways, again.

Then, because I wanted the bias binding to be hidden on my neckline, I folded one

of the halves of this bias tape in half again, and I ironed another

crease into this.

So I now have two creases in the bias tape – one crease that divides the strip

into two, and one that divides it into quarters.

And a little note: I would have found this whole process a bit easier if I'd used

a slightly WIDER piece of fabric than this as my bias tape.

But that's something I can learn from to do in the future.

Anyway, to attach the bias tape to the neckline, I placed it along the

neckline's raw edge like this, right-sides together,

and next I'm going to sew it on, sewing directly ON the middle crease, like this.

And you'll notice that while I'm actually sewing it on here, I actually

didn't use any clips or sewing pins to hold the tape in place onto the neckline-

I actually find it easier to place the binding with my fingers as I go.

When I got back around to where I started, I held the two ends of the bias tape

together like this, and I carefully sewed up to juuust about where the two ends met.

Then, I sewed these two ends together with a straight stitch like THIS…

And I realised that I had JUST managed to not line the seam of the bias tape

up with the shoulder seam.

Damn it.

Oh well, practise makes perfect – next time I'll get closer, I'm sure!

Anyway, then I clipped off the extra bit of bias tape that was outside that seam.

I pressed the seam open, and then sewed over the

top of that open seam

until I got back to my first stitch, to finish sewing the tape into place.

So next, I'm going to understitch the bias tape.

To do that, I folded it up, making sure all the fabric of the tape was folded UP,

and then I'm going to go around the neckline again like THIS,

trying to stitch on top of the bias tape AS CLOSE to the seam as possible.

Then, the final step, is to fold the bias tape inside the top

so it can no longer be seen when it's flipped the right way around,

so it'll look something like this.

This is easier to see if I do it while the shirt is inside out, so,

I turned the shirt inside out, and folded the bias tape down inside the neckline,

on its middle crease, and then I also turned over the quarter crease,

to ensure there's no raw edges on the inside of the garment.

NOW you can see how tiny this is, and why I wish I'd started with a wider bias tape.

But, this will still work – the last step is to stitch all the way around

the inside of the neckline, stitching the bias tape in place, like this.

Again, I haven't pinned or clipped the bias tape in place because I find that

it's easier to fold the bias tape down onto the neckline as I go.

There's a lot more tips and tricks to attaching a bias binding that you can find

specifc tutorials on so I'll link some of my favourites down in the

description box below, but I just wanted to show you what works for me.

OKAY – now we have a pretty, finished neckline!

Next, I flipped the shirt inside-out again and then attached the front and back

bodice pieces at the sides, here and here.

Now to finish off all the raw edges and seams on the inside of the garment,

I'm going to either overlock these raw edges, or, on the curvy bits,

because I'm not good at overlocking on curves, I'm going to use a zig-zag stitch

over these raw edges.

So, if you don't have an overlocker, you can finish off your raw seams

and fabric edges by zig-zagging over them on a very short zig-zag stitch setting.

This is what zig-zagging over the edges looks like.

Next, I tried the top on to make sure it was all fitting okay – and it's all good!

Note that I haven't had to add a zipper or buttons, and that's because

I've intentionally made this garment quite loose-fitting!

Neither my finished blouse, or my dress, has a zipper.

So next we're going to add the ruffles around the sleeves and the bottom.

So, I'm going to put the top aside for a moment…

And for each sleeve ruffle piece, I'm going to follow the exact same steps.

So I'll just show you what I did for one of them.

First, I'm going to gather this top edge, by doing a long basting stitch along here.

To do this, I set my machine to its longest straight-stitch setting.

I made sure that the threads on the machine (before sewing) were left lonnng,

and then I placed the fabric underneath, and started sewing.

Now, when making gathers, you DON'T want to do any back stitch

at the start or the end of your stitching.

So, after I sewed a line of long straight stitches down that edge,

when I got to the end, I pulled the top and bottom threads out a little bit further, like this,

and then I cut them about 5 inches away from the fabric.

So I left the threads nice and long.

Then to gather the fabric, I pulled gently on the TOP thread like this…

and doing this creates gathers in the fabric.

So I pushed the gathers along the fabric like this, and then I repeated this.

And I did it on both ends to keep the gathers fairly even along the fabric.

I kept gathering the fabric more and more, until this rectangle piece was

reduced in length so that when it's folded in half, it's about the same length as the

bodice armhole, plus about 1 inch.

After spacing the gathers out roughly evenly along the sleeve piece,

I placed the gathered rectangle folded in half, so the two ends were pointing DOWN.

And then I sewed the gathered sleeve into a loop, by sewing a straight line HERE.

I finished off the raw edges by cutting off the excess fabric from the seam and

then overlocking this edge.

Then, to actually attach this piece, I first turned the shirt the right way around,

then – watch carefully because this can be a little confusing –

turned the sleeve around so the raw bottom edge was pointing towards the shirt,

and the seam of the sleeve was facing down.

Then I opened up the sleeve ruffle and placed it around the armhole opening,

like this.

Basically, I wanted to match up the ruffled edge and the raw edge of the

armhole opening, while also making sure that the seams on both pieces

matched up as well.

And then I used sewing clips to pin the sleeve on evenly around the armhole, and sewed it on

all the way around the armhole like THIS.

Here's a closer up look at where my stitches are going to go –

I am going to stitch the sleeve on just on the inside of the line of stitching

that created the ruffles, so that the long gathered stitch will get caught up inside

the seam and won't be seen on the outside of the garment.

Take your time sewing this, because it can be a little bit tricky!

And then when it's all turned the right way out….

It should look like this!

And then finally, I'm going to create a small hem around the bottom of the sleeve.

So, first I overlocked this raw edge – if you don't have an overlocker, you can

zig-zag stitch the edge, using basting scissors on the edge, or you can do

a rolled hem instead – and then I flipped the edge up about 1 inch inside

the sleeve, and sewed along here, all the way around the sleeve opening.

Also I don't really bother to pin when I'm hemming a fabric, I just eyeball it and

place it in the right spot as I go along.

Now, finally, we're up to the last step!

So this is where the top and the dress deviate – but the difference between them

is simply in the length of fabric that you add to the blouse part.

Both the ruffle on the top, and the skirt on the dress, use simple rectangles

that are 3 times the width of the top, when it's laid flat.

So the dress uses a rectangle piece of fabric that is

3 times the top part's width, and 18 inches long for my dress;

Whereas the top uses a rectangle piece of fabric that is

3 times the top part's width, but only 3.5 inches long.

So I'm just going to show you how I attached the ruffle onto the pink top,

but the process is exactly the same for attaching the skirt onto the dress.

So, I had this amount of pink fabric left over.

Which I chopped in half, making each half 3.5 inches along here

and then I measured out the width of the fabric that I wanted by just measuring

it along the bottom edge of the top part while it's laid flat.

So once, twice and I had to add another third part because I was working

with reminants... so...

3!

I simply attached these 2 rectangle pieces together by placing one on top

of the other, right sides together, and sewing a straight stitch down here.

So now I have a long, thin rectangle, that's 3.5 inches long and approximately

1...

2...

3 times the width of the bottom of the shirt.

And this is attached in essentially, the exact same way as how

we attached the sleeve, so I'll run through it really quickly.

The only thing I did different was that I hemmed the rectangle of fabric first –

but it doesn't really matter what order you do it in, unless the ruffle

is really, really tiny, then you might want to hem it first.

So after I hemmed I then I gathered the opposite edge of the fabric,

reducing it down in size to 2 times the width of the shirt…

OR, when folded over, it's about the same width!

I did a straight stitch down the two ends of the rectangle,

to attach them together and make the gathered fabric into a loop…

And then I turned the top the right way around, making sure the gathered piece

of fabric was turned the wrong way around, and I placed the gathered piece around the

bottom edge of the top like this, so that the raw edge and the gathered edge met up.

And then I clipped the gathered piece on evenly all the way around, and sewed it on

just like I did for the sleeves.

And then I finished off the raw edges of the seam with an overlocker,

and turned it all the right way around… and it looks like this!

So now let's have another look at the finished pieces, and I'm also going to

show you how I like to style them!

[music plays]

The pastel pink colour of the top look really nice when paired with a

darker colour, like these jeans.

The jeans also stop my outfit from looking

totally like a 5 year old at a birthday party.

Which, is a fine aesthetic to have, for sure, but it's not what I was going for.

At the moment I'm really enjoying styling this dress with a very loose fitting shirt

that's the same length as the dress.

It gives the dress an outfit a kinda 80's feel and it's VERY comfortable -

seriously, aside from like, just wearing my pyjamas, this dress is the comfiest

piece of clothing that I own.

So, I really hope you enjoyed this video, and enjoyed watching my process from

inspiration, to design, to pattern, to construction, to finished garment.

And these two pieces are actually something I've been wearing ALL the time,

particularly the dress.

The dress is a perfect everyday piece.

However I would like to make the dress out of these fabric patterns as well,

I might just order some custom fabric to make another dress with.

And if you would like to see the process of me ordering some custom fabric to make

a design out of, let me know!

Or also if you would like a more in depth tutorial of how I draw down and digitise

my patterns, let me know if you'd like to see that as well.

So this was a MASSIVE video to complete, it involved many, many, MANY hours of

sewing and filming and editing so if you're actually seeing this, WE DID IT!

Thank you for all being patient with me when there's gaps of a few weeks between

uploads - I'm actually doing pretty well with my health and chronic illness

management right now...

I know some people start to worry when I haven't uploaded for

a while - I've had some worried comments and messages, which is so dang sweet -

but it's actually the fact that I'm doing so well right now that is actually the

most time consuming thing.

The amount of physio, and rehabilitation that I've been

doing right now to maintain an ok level of health and minimise my chronic pain

just... it's a lot, and it's super, SUPER exhausting!

Shout out to all my other chronic illness warriors how are taking any kind of steps

to improve their health, because it is TIRING.

But, hooray for relatively ok health!

Also my next video out, my next tutorial video at least, should be a review on

these "embroiderly pens"... and you'll see why I've done little "air quotes"

for that in my video on it... yeah...

[whispering] It's not good.

Thank you for watching, thank you so much to all of my supporters on Patreon and

for those people who have donated on Ko-Fi, or supported my merchandise...

Seriously, I could not do what I do without your financial support, so from

the bottom of my heart, thank you SO much.

Also if you been missing some regular Annika in your life, me, and Giovanni...

Running for president - Duration: 5:43.

Hi everyone my name is Marco Pulgar, and I'm running for the president position for DSP

Before anything else I'd like to introduce myself to all the new brothers in beta eta.

I myself joined DSP fall 2016 and I'm currently majoring in information systems

I was born and raised in Venezuela, and I moved to the States back in 2009

That's why I an accent. A fun fact about myself is that I'm allergic to Chinese grass even thoI haven't been there yet.

Now while I have been part of other clubs and have held more positions

These two have to given me the opportunity to develop my skills in a team setting. Which has

Given me the most responsibilities. When I was VP of Finance for DSP gave me the opportunity to see how chapter is run from an executive

Perspective and also introduced me to the Exec teamwork dynamics

also when I was

a Sub-Organization liasion for HSA, I was a point of contact for several

organizations as well as I assured that guidelines and deadlines were met by each organization and assisted the presidents when needed.

As the obligations of the President of DSP,

I'm aware of all the duties that come along with the position. That includes making sure that chapter meets the probation requirement for Fall 2018.

Developing a calendar of major events for DSP for the following Fall and Spring

semesters. Ensuring that all the VPs and directors are aware of the deadlines & assist them when needed.

Last but not least be transparent to both the chapter and Exec when making decisions.

Leadership styles, I want to talk about a little bit

How I work in a team setting

Now when I said that I want to be a helper more than a president

I meant that I want to be a team player and by that I mean being flexible and

Ready to do more than required therefore being versatile.

Planning and delivery, my organization skills and planing are my last names

And I'll show you guys that later a little bit.

I'm also a problem solver. I'm motivated and committed to everything I do and what I signed up for

I I like to say I am communicative and by that I mean I like making or getting my point across

clearly and surely as fast as possible but also

being a good listener as

once you listen, you not only put yourself in the position of somebody else, but you also get to see maybe the problem or

environment from different perspectives which can be helpful and a lot of times. last but not least, I'm

charismatic

This is something

I'm willing to bring you know just to chapter also the Exec team. That's something that I hope is

contagious and that everybody gets to

being able to work with one another without holding

from saying or saying something. I want to make sure that the team environment in DSP is feasible.

Now, this is what I meant when I said that organization and planning are my last names. These days are not set in stone

But planning is crucial

I have an idea of when recruitment or pledged voting night

orientation, pin ceremony, and

initiation should be.

I would have to talk more with the person that holds those position with but I just want to show you guys that I'm already

planning ahead

Now traditions we get new members every year and those changing

what we do is a great opportunity to spice things up and also to

For many people it's a way of staying active in chapter

And I believe that we in the chapter need to focus on those that maintain ones closer, but also that won't put us any jeopardy

So like and by that is strictly mean that brothers cannot give alcohol to pledges at any moment through the process

That includes a big little events and socials and of course no alcohol in any social event with the pledges.

events like the picnic with the pledges and joins with organizations

Or events that keep us involved and interested while well. I'm not or would not be in charge of organizing

these events

will be one of my priorities

priority, sorry,

For these sort of events to take place as well as to ask the Brotherhood to speak out by filling out Google phones into

Excel or coming directly to anyone in the exciting to expect what to express what they want to see in the DSP

Now except in Chapter, I've noticed even even though the

Minutes are fire every single time I read them that there's always a sense of disconnection between

exec and chapter now. I'm willing to

Facilitate this problem, or sorry TERMINATE this problem by encouraging attendance at Exec meetings as well as making sure

that in every chapter, I'll be there explaining. What happened at the previous meeting

In depth explaining any decisions that we're taking or anything that will happen in in the next few weeks or months for beta

Now I promise you all that I will uphold and follow the operational manual and

National bylaws, being transparent, honest to the brotherhood about decisions & anything related to the opposition. Last

but not least I promise make this position a priority a priority and fulfill 100 percent.

DOJ Issues GAME CHANGING Announcement on Mueller-Cohen Raid - Duration: 4:39.

DOJ Issues GAME CHANGING Announcement on Mueller-Cohen Raid

The DOJ just made a game-changing announcement, that likely has Democrats, and Mueller shaking

in their boots.

In a shocking twist, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has revealed he will NOT recuse himself

from the Trump-Cohen investigation, unleashed by Russia witch-hunter, Robert Mueller.

You'll recall that Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation, leaving Deputy

Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in charge.

From Conservative Tribune

The Justice Department's Southern District of New York and the FBI — acting on a referral

from the Robert Mueller Special Counsel investigation — recently raided and seized documents from

an office, home and hotel room associated with President Donald Trump's former personal

attorney Michael Cohen.

Bloomberg just reported that Attorney General Jeff Sessions has decided not to recuse himself

from that particular investigation, though he reportedly did leave open the option of

stepping back in regard to certain aspects of that investigation, if warranted in the

future.

In the eyes of the liberal media, that non-recusal stands in stark contrast to Sessions' prior

recusal from the Mueller-led Russian collusion investigation and other matters related to

the 2016 presidential campaign.

Asked about the non-recusal by Bloomberg, the DOJ released a statement that read: "The

attorney general considers his potential recusal on a matter-by-matter basis as may be needed.

To the extent a matter comes to the attention of his office that may warrant consideration

of recusal, the attorney general would review the issue and consult with the appropriate

Department ethics experts."

Bloomberg fretted that Sessions' involvement with the Cohen investigation would allow him

to be briefed on its progress, which in turn could allow him to divulge such information

to Trump if requested.

Furthermore, Sessions' involvement would also permit him to play a decision-making

role in the investigation, particularly in regard to if subpoenas or indictments are

issued in the matter.

CNBC noted that the non-recusal by Sessions also stood in contrast to how SDNY lead attorney

Geoffrey Berman had recused himself from the Cohen investigation and handed it off to his

deputy, Robert Khuzami.

Berman had been personally interviewed for the position by Trump and was appointed by

Sessions.

In seeking confirmation of the decision by Sessions to not recuse himself, CNBC received

this response from a DOJ spokeswoman: "We don't confirm or deny recusals — as the

AG said in his testimony in November.

To do so could be used as a way to confirm the existence or scope of an ongoing criminal

investigation, which we have a policy of not doing as you can read in the United States

Attorney Manual."

Nevertheless, that hasn't stopped the liberal media from speculating on their own about

the "existence or scope of an ongoing criminal investigation" as it pertains to Michael

Cohen.

The Hill surmised that the raid on Cohen's office, home and hotel room was related to

an alleged payoff he gave to former porn star Stormy Daniels — real name Stephanie Clifford

— in order to purchase her silence in regard to an alleged consensual affair she had with

then-businessman Trump a dozen years ago.

It is thought by some in the liberal media that such a payoff could implicate Trump in

some sort of campaign finance violation, and is the latest saga in their perpetually evolving

"We've got him now!" mantra.

Pushing that narrative even further, there has been speculation that Trump could eventually

issue a pardon for Cohen, a potentiality the White House hasn't totally ruled out but

which was also called a "stupid question" by Trump himself when asked if he would consider

pardoning his former attorney.

In the end, RedState noted that this move by Sessions — even if correct and to be

applauded — has poured fuel on the anti-Trump left's conspiracy theories regarding Trump

being the real focus of the investigation and his administration's efforts to cover

up or obstruct that "truth" from emerging.

A much more likely reason for Sessions' non-recusal from the Cohen investigation is

that it doesn't have any real links to Mueller's Russia investigation or the 2016 presidential

campaign, in which case Sessions would probably have recused himself, which in turn would

have implied that Trump was under investigation as well.

Of course, it is also plausible that Sessions decided not to recuse himself simply because

he didn't want to become the target of accusatory tweets from the president, as has occurred

in response to his prior recusal from matters involving Russia and the campaign.

Regardless, Sessions is doing the job that he was appointed and confirmed to do, and

unless there are clear indications of a conflict of interest or appearance of impropriety,

there is no reason whatsoever for the attorney general to recuse himself from this particular

investigation.

Copperheads 11: Eye examination for Wilson's disease - Duration: 13:11.

Hello, Copperheads!

My name is Cupri, and clearly I have a lot to say about Wilson's disease.

A few weeks ago I thought I would dedicate between 4 and 6 videos to the diagnostic process;

however, I have already made 5 and we're only about half way through this broad topic.

So, my new estimate is that I will make 5 or 6 more videos about diagnosing Wilson's

disease, including this video I'm making slash you're watching right now.

Today we're talking about the role of an eye examination in the Wilson's disease

diagnostic process.

When people who suspect they might have Wilson's disease read that KF rings and sunflower cataracts

can sometimes be seen on the eyes of Wilson's disease patients, they run to the mirror to

look at their eyes.

"Oh my gosh, my eyes have a darker ring around them.

Is that normal?

Do all eyes have that?

Have my eyes always had that?

Did my ring use to be thinner or lighter?

And what about the middle of my eye?

That kind of looks like a flower.

What are sunflower cataracts supposed to look like?

Uhhh...

I have no idea!

I've never paid this much attention to my eyes before!"

Let's be honest, I've done this, you've probably done this.

People do this because the average person does not have a clinical lab at home, but

most of us do have a mirror, and we're all searching for answers in every way we can.

So let's learn first about normal eye anatomy, so we can understand how KF rings and sunflower

cataracts are different from that.

And I'm gonna be using a combination of drawings and real-life pictures to explain

all of this.

So here on the top left is a drawing of a human eyeball when we look at it from the

front.

The white part is the sclera, the colored part is the iris, and the black part in the

middle is the pupil.

I'm making the iris green, but it could be many other colors as well.

And over here on the top right is a drawing of what an eyeball looks like from the side

if we cut it open right through the middle.

The sclera is the outer layer of the eye almost all the way around, except for right here

in front of where the iris and pupil are gonna be.

In this part where we do not have the sclera we have the cornea instead, which is more

curved and also transparent so that light can get through.

Back here is the iris, and the pupil is this gap in the middle.

Please notice that the pupil is not an actual black surface, it's just a hole that looks

black because it's not bouncing any light back out.

The light goes through the pupil into the lens, which is here behind the iris, and then

some more stuff happens until the light signals are sent to the brain through the optic nerve,

which is all the way back here, but we don't need to worry about all that right now.

Anyways, back to the front of the eye, the space between the cornea and the iris is called

the anterior chamber, and it is filled with a liquid called the aqueous humour.

Now here on the bottom left let's draw a front view of the iris alone, a bit closer

up so we can see more detail.

Pay attention, because this is really, really important.

Pretty much all eyes have a darker area around the edge of the iris.

This is normal and it is called the limbal ring.

The iris itself is not darker in that area, it just looks darker because of an optical

illusion caused by light refracting in a somewhat weird way in this area called the corneal

limbus, where the transparent cornea (which covers your iris) meets the opaque sclera

(which covers the rest of the eye).

The limbal ring can look thinner or thicker, but pretty much everyone has it.

If you didn't have one it would mean that there's some big problem with the anatomy

of your eye, which would make you have huge vision problems, so trust me, you would already

know about all this.

So your iris is actually mostly made of muscle fibers, and there's two areas.

The area closer to the pupil is called the pupillary zone, and the area further away

from the pupil is called the ciliary zone.

The pupillary zone and the ciliary zone meet and form an irregular ziggy-zaggy line called

the colarette.

Just like with the limbal ring, the colarette is normal, pretty much everyone has it, and

if you didn't you would already know by now.

I'm telling you all this because oftentimes, people who are not familiar with human eye

anatomy, see the limbal ring and they think it's a KF ring, or they look at the colarette

and they think it's a sunflower cataract.

I didn't know all that much about the human eye when I first inspected my own eyes to

see if I had KF rings; I was looking at them and realized I had no idea about what's

normal and what isn't, and it took me a while to learn all this stuff.

So hopefully with the help of this video that process is a bit easier for you.

But before we talk about that, let's go to the bottom right of the page and draw an

extreme close up of a small section of the cornea.

The cornea has 5 major layers.

One thin layer on the outside of the eye called the epithelium; a second thin layer called

Bowman's membrane or the anterior elastic lamina; a thick layer called the stroma; a

thin layer called Desçemet's membrane or the posterior elastic lamina; and finally

a thin layer called the endothelium.

Now we are ready to talk about KF rings.

KF rings, short for Kayser-Fleischer rings, form when copper gets deposited on the Desçemet's

membrane of the cornea (which, remember, is the fourth layer), near the corneal limbus

(which, remember, is the area where the cornea meets the sclera).

Copper deposits first on the top part of the corneal limbus, then on the bottom part, and

then the copper deposition area can grow until it goes all the way around.

KF rings do not affect your vision at all, but they can help us diagnose Wilson's disease

because if you have them, it almost always means you have Wilson's disease.

However, pigmented rings on the corneal limbus have been rarely observed on people with other

conditions, such as cholestasis and primary biliary cholangitis, but we do not know whether

those rings are true KF rings caused by copper deposition, or pseudo-KF rings caused by something

else.

Anyways, KF rings are present in about 50% of Wilson's disease patients with severe

liver symptoms, and in about 95% of Wilson's disease patients with severe neurological

symptoms, probably because the eyes are so close to the brain.

Keep in mind that this is not 100%; so, even though having KF rings almost always means

that you have Wilson's disease, not having does not exclude a Wilson's disease diagnosis.

When there is a lot of copper deposition in the Desçemet's membrane, KF rings can be

seen with the naked eye.

They are usually described as being golden brown or greenish yellow, but actually, depending

on your natural eye color and perhaps a few other factors, KF rings can be other colors

as well, for example deep red, bright green, or even intense blue.

When the copper deposition Desçemet's membrane is not so dense, KF rings can only be seen

by an eye doctor using special tools.

And even if your KF rings are visible to the naked eye, you should get them checked out

and confirmed by a eye doctor anyways.

When you go to the eye doctor, also called ophthalmologist, this is how they should perform

the eye examination to check if you have KF rings.

Actually, there's three methods:

Number 1: Flashlight examination.

This is only suitable if your KF rings are very pronounced, or as a last resort if the

special equipment needed for the other 2 methods is not available.

When using this method, the eye doctor will shine a flashlight onto your eye at different

angles.

If you do not have KF rings, or your KF rings are not very pronounced, shining a bright

light at the correct angles will make the doctor stop seeing the normal limbal ring

around the iris and there will be no other dark stuff in that area.

But, if you do have KF rings and they are pronounced enough, the KF rings will still

be visible on your corneal limbus.

If you wanna see this play out in real life, you can click up here to go watch a short

video made by a couple of people in Thailand.

Number 2: Slit-lamp examination.

This is the method most commonly used, at least in places where most eye doctors have

eye microscopes and slit-lamps.

With this method, the eye doctor will ask you to place your face on a special frame,

and will then use a special microscope to look at your eye while shining a very thin

beam of light at different angles.

If the eye doctor is using a microscope with a very high magnification and very good lenses,

the KF-ring can look like this.

Here you can see kind of spotty copper deposits around the corneal limbus, which are not back

there where the iris is, but in front of it on the cornea.

But if they're using a microscope with less magnification, it might look more like this.

Here you can see this curved white line, which is the thin beam of light shining onto the

cornea; and you can notice how the line splits into two down here near the corneal limbus,

and one of the bifurcations is more yellow in color.

That's the copper deposition right there.

And finally number 3: gonioscopy.

This is the most reliable method, but it's not as commonly used because not every eye

doctor has the right equipment, and also because it can be difficult to interpret.

A gonioscopy is similar to the slit-lamp examination, but see how this doctor is holding something

in front of the patient's eye?

That's a goniolens.

Here is an illustration of a goniolens.

As you see, this side is flat, and the opposite side is curved, because the doctor will put

a special lubricant on it and then place it against your cornea.

Yes, it looks very uncomfortable, but it's actually totally painless if performed correctly.

I know it's kind of hard to see, but the white arrow here is pointing at the Desçemet's

membrane showing copper deposition.

And it's not hard to see just for you and me; like I said, this is hard to distinguish

for experienced eye doctors as well.

Alright!

So that's it for KF rings.

Let's now talk about sunflower cataracts, and here is the thing: calling them cataracts

is not technically correct, because they're not true cataracts.

True cataracts are caused by non-reversible protein changes in the lens, and they lead

to significant vision problems.

"Sunflower cataracts" are caused by copper deposition, but they are reversible with the

standard Wilson's disease treatment, and they can lead to only mild vision problems,

or sometimes no problems at all.

There are some conflicting reports about the location, prevalence, and significance of

sunflower cataracts.

Location: some doctors say that the copper deposition is in the lens itself, which is

behind the iris; and other doctors say that the copper deposition is in the anterior chamber,

which is in front of the iris.

Prevalence: some doctors say that they are only present in 1% of Wilson's disease patients;

and other doctors say that they are present in up to 17% of Wilson's disease patients.

Significance: some doctors say that the presence of sunflower cataracts is as diagnostic as

the presence of KF rings; while other doctors say that it's more of an "incidental finding"

and it shouldn't be used for diagnosis.

I wish I could tell you what the hard truth is; but, unfortunately, we need more data

in order to settle this disagreement.

In any case, I'm still gonna show you what sunflower cataracts look like.

In these pictures we have the KF ring along the bottom, but also sunflower cataracts.

On the left you can see what they look like front the front with full light, and on the

right you can see what they look like a bit more sideways with a slit-lamp shining onto

them.

They look like they are in the pupil; but remember, the pupil is not an actual black

surface, it is just a hole.

So the sunflower cataracts are either in front of the pupil in the anterior chamber, or behind

the pupil in the lens, depending on who you ask, or perhaps depending on the case; the

scientific community is not quite sure yet.

Alright, Copperheads!

That's all for today.

Come back next week to find out what an abdominal ultrasound can do for you if you're in the

process of confirming or excluding a Wilson's disease diagnosis.

In the meantime, you can find me on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, or by e-mail.

[Eng/Kor] I ALMOST DIED!! 시드니에서 죽을 뻔 했어요!│SYDNEY VLOG - Duration: 11:14.

Omg.. I look so messy now.

I just arrived in Sydney!

I met up with Steve who is living in Sydney.

Today's dinner is..

It's Malatang.

it's the restaurant over there.

Yangguofu Malatang.

This is gonna be my first meal in Sydney.

We should be careful.

Otherwise we could get too much food.

And we have to pay $20 not ¥20 lol.

There are many different ingredients.

This mid-size noodle is the best.

It looks beautiful here.

I really want to have this kind of armchair.

We are now on our way to Sydney opera house.

Oh my goodness.

There's the Harbour bridge on the left.

Wow, guys! I can see them!

And there's the opera house on the other side.

Oh, because today is Chinese new year, it looks different.

Yeah, there's a tiger.

Chinese new year is such a huge festival.

Usually, the lights on Harbour bridge are white and blue color.

But because of Chinese new year it's red today.

I personally think red light is most ugly.

I agree with you.

I can see the bridge over there.

It would be better if it wasn't red.

This is like.. the view that you can see in Shanghai or Beijing.

Haha I can tell.

There's THE opera house right behind me!

Look!

We took a seat in front of the bridge.

Cheers!

I feel so relaxed.

It's just so good.

It's like a bed.

I can even see the stars in the sky.

I can't see on the camera.

But, I can see them haha.

It's my second day in Sydney.

I'm going to have a brunch with Steve.

This backpacker is so complicated, so it's called Maze backpacker.

I already got lost several times yesterday.

Do I not look very tired?

This is Steve's daily vlog.

Yes, you look tired.

The weather sucks today.

So I just had a nap.

This T-shirt is the one I wore when I came to Australia.

It's the only long sleeve shirt that I have now.

It's too cold.

It's much colder than I expected, I heard that it got colder since I came here.

This one is that my cousin brother asked me to take.

I'll take it when I go back to Korea.

There are so many different chocolates and biscuits.

This one tastes really good.

I'm not sure if I can find this out what my sister let me bring for her.

Avocado cream..

I just searched the internet, and I figured out that I can buy this at Woolworths supermarket.

Now I'm on my way there.

I finally found it out!

There are two whole avocados in it.

It's cheaper than two fresh avocados lol.

I'm meeting up with Steve again!

I'm going to The Rocks.

My friend recommended a good café to me, which is famous for scones.

I'm gonna have scones and a cup of tea there.

I came to the café which has tasty scones.

This is iced mint and lime tea.

I was able to choose one marmalade, so I ordered pear and vanilla marmalade.

It's probably this one.

This just reminded me of the scones that I had with Anthony on tablelands.

They're quite different.

The outside of the scone is so crispy,

and inside is really soft.

For two months, I hardly ate Korean food.

I would like to eat Haejangkuk..

I came here very spontaneously.

I'm just walking and walking toward the cove.

I just had a brunch.

I'm getting some rest at a park, in the meantime, I'd like to talk about the story what happened yesterday.

My heart is still pounding when I'm thinking of it.

The weather was awesome yesterday, so I went to Bondi Beach.

There were still lots of people in the water in spite of the strong waves.

However, there were no life guards, and no beach safety line either.

I was just myself.

At that moment, I knew it would be dangerous if I got in the water just myself.

Therefore, I was looking for some people who can look after each other.

After all, I got a sort-of friend, so we were hanging out together.

Then I figured out I came too far from the coast.

I was quite nervous.

I was giving my best to escape from the wave, but I couldn't even move.

Also, the waves kept coming. I wasn't able to touch the bottom of the sea anymore.

I asked the girl who was with me for help.

We were holding hands, but the waves ware too strong to get out of it.

I was swimming like this.

We struggled in the water.

but it was constantly pulling us strongly, then it got much harder.

In the water, I've seen many people at the beach,

but didn't seem that there's someone can save me.

I probably would've been dead if there wasn't the girl next to me.

I was so scared.

Now I understand why people die in the water.

I was almost dead from draining me of energy.

When I was screaming 'help me!' in my mind.

Then a big wave came over me.

it pushed us to the coast, fortunately.

I was shaking.

I was almost out of my mind yesterday.

I knew we shouldn't swim in the sea, when waves are strong, of course.

I still don't understand why I insisted.

I guess I can't go to a beach for a while. I was really terrified.

I was really terrified.

So, guys! Please be careful when you are on a trip just yourself.

(I know it's so cliche) Don't ever go swimming in the sea on your own, when the waves are strong and big.

Yes.. Through this experience, I've learned how I can die in the sea.

I'm so pleased that I'm alive now.

From now, I would appreciate even small things.

VLOG - Grocery Shopping, My Bedroom & Get Ready With Me! - Duration: 19:05.

you guys see the sunlight oh my god there hasn't been like Sun for such a

long time like for a few days now I opened up all these blinds and let all

the Sun in because this weather has just been so depressing lately cooking up

some bacon here lookey lookey over here look how good this looks every time I

put my spinach omelette inside of a bowl it just looks so good look at that

colour and that green is now I'm just gonna mix it all up so if you guys

haven't watched my what I eat in a day in my very very first one I did a

spinach omelette for breakfast I absolutely love this and I've been just

craving it so I'm gonna make it again today make sure you guys watch I will

leave the link to the video up above so that's my breakfast you guys my egg

omelette I used three egg whites today and only one of the yolk and then I have

three slices of my back bacon and I cannot have my omote or bacon without a

little bit of ketchup on the side yes mama just showing my breakfast

say hi forget it of course my coffee I'm gonna eat this

up and I have so many groceries to go get you guys the fun is so strong right

now and my waves are like totally coming undone I did them like so tight but now

they're just like coming out so whatever anyways um yeah so I have so many

groceries to get so figured I'd bring you guys with me because I know you guys

love my grocery loss and always like to see what I get

yes mama yes mama I just wanted to be a part of the party and you guys could

tell I have one of my earbuds in my ears because I always am listening to music

especially when I'm making breakfast cooking and even just in the kitchen in

general um God my face looks so pale do I look so pale

I'm also working on a Spotify playlist for you guys I always had like such as

hard time like longing to Spotify I don't know why it's always said like

error every single time I put in my long and information and I'm just like okay

so I just like ends up giving up and what I do right now is I download music

from u2 but I just converted to an empty three and then I put it on my iTunes

music and I put on my ipod mama's hair looks a little bit crazy um yeah so

we're gonna go and eat breakfast and then we're gonna go a grocery shopping

so I don't think I've ever shown you guys like me getting ready a little bit

before going out so I'm going you guys today makeup is gonna be super

simple as you guys can tell I'm wearing red right now because like I said the

weather lately like I'm not gonna lie you guys I'm a very like positive bubbly

person a lot of you guys tell me like you're just so happy I am but I've

always been that girl that's been affected by the weather if it is gloomy

outside oh man it's just so hard for me sometimes to just get out of this hole

because I don't know I just always been like that

but today in the morning I was like oh god I was so like focused on how the

weather's just been so gloomy but I'm wearing red because I just need

to be put in like a very vibrant mood Italy you guys I've been getting into

wearing more color I ordered a few pieces from forever 21 that I cannot

wait to show you guys so excited there's this one piece in particular so

different than anything I would have chosen but I'm just so excited for it

and the thing with me is when I see something like let's say you see a cute

top that you really like for me I don't know if you guys do this but I imagine

myself in the outfit and I see myself like doing the actual photo shoot where

I'm doing like the pictures I can see the whole entire vision like I'm just

such a visual person I also don't know if you guys can tell but we are in a

different room we are in my bedroom right now I don't think I'm gonna do

like a bedroom video so I think I'm gonna show you guys just kind of quickly

what it looks like so this is my bedroom you guys it has the mountain dresser

right there and then I have a very long sort of mirror there that I was using us

an outfit mirror before when I didn't have the other one when amy was still

here and I just have my bed I love putting this very like fur comforter

over top so I'm in a comforter it's just like a large queen blanket and I got

this one off my Amazon I can link it for you guys I also have a little bit of

faux fur at the end here funny enough you guys this is actually a table runner

then I have my nightstand over here you guys like this big glam lamp behind my

bed as well and my headboard has like some silver studs around it so this is

like very glam compared to my other room where my other one is like so like

modern and can you guys see my vitamin E there I told you guys I always have

vitamin E and every single room that I am I have a candle over there it is

patchouli I love love love patchouli it's one of my favorite favorite size I

think it is my favorite scent that's why bedroom you guys I just made my bed like

that but when it was like all done up I had like a gazillion pillows because I

love pillows I love putting like 10 pillows on a bed but it's just too much

work to take them off and on off and on so that's just basically my bedroom

nation I'm going to be using today cuz I'm just doing like a very quick makeup

look is the wedding wild wild autofocus foundation and I have it in golden beige

like sometimes when my face just feels kind of dry like when I put on the

foundation especially with this weather what I do is I put glycerin on my actual

sponge afterwards and I literally just put it over top and I kind of just go

over my face with the foundation and kind of mix it in it just like right now

I feel like my skin is moisturize I feel like it's kind of dewy and wet and

moisturized for quick days I put a timelike bronzer highlighter all over my

face I'm using this one that my sister gave me it's called Midnight Sun

highlighter and it is by whose if I I never know who is fine makeup geek yeah

it's my makeup geek look I'm not kidding you know I put it all over my face

because when I just want that everyday sort of glow I love to put a ton of like

highlighter all over my Belle appear contour palette and just grabbing my

favorite color and just kind of going here on the corner I'm not gonna do

anything too crazy you always want to look like you're actually alive you know

just gonna get a little bit of powder and go underneath just like this and

over the eyes we're gonna take a highlighter bronzer again I am gonna use

the same one that I used to highlight with gonna put it all over the eyelid

you just get this very like shimmery lid just gonna put on literally a little bit

my absolute favorite for the most like in natural lashes is this L'Oreal

telescopic one and for those of you who compliment my eyebrows thank you so much

this is my eyebrow routine are you guys ready

they're so full so proud of them like that they're just so full because I hate

doing eyebrows you guys so if you guys have full eyebrows and you don't even

need to do your eyebrows and you love them the way they are leave a comment

down below why am i holding the hair you need to saw this upset so you guys have

probably seen my brand new Teddy Blake bag that I've showed in a couple of my

new looks I am so in love with this you guys this one is the larger version it's

the 14-inch version the other one that I had before in like that dark sort of

taupey color absolutely love as well but it is the smaller version it's the

12-inch version what I love about this one is I I can carry my macbook inside

of it every time I go out to work and edit I can just put it inside of there

whereas with the other one I couldn't really fit my laptop inside of there if

I wanted to travel with it or anything and I felt a little bit more confined

but I do still want to keep that one if I'm going somewhere where I don't want a

large bag but this one is definitely like an everyday Bay especially if you

guys carry a ton of things around or if you do similar to what I do it's

definitely something that's really good to have I love it so much it's just so

classy I will leave the link down below in the description box to make sure you

guys check it out if you are interested in the bag

getting some pineapple we really need to get on the fruit train you guys okay

guys so we got a little bit of fruit now we are going to get some greens I need

some more of my spinach organic finish gonna be doing a brand new sort of

recipe so I can't wait to show you guys and I just love using spinach and

everything this is so good for you I think I'm like over broccoli but

actually I need some green onion in green onions spinach sweet peppers

actually they're right here oh and this shower just started I'm just like Hardy

no one here it's awesome though me and my sister tried to do like chocolate

dipped strawberries oh my god you guys they turned out so good Amy's not a fan

but I love them

very ganic ones are actually double the frames who knows if we're actually

organic though have a good day so that's the cutest thing it has happened this

older couple just started like talking to me cuz he saw was like staring at the

strawberries so cute though I always like to try to people everywhere I go

Amy always laughs just like why is that everywhere we go like people just come

up and talk to you so cute though it's like you think those are from the United

States oh man so a couple other things that I

thought I got a couple of English muffins I really need these for

breakfast sandwiches got strawberries and I got my tortilla little burrito

wraps that I love using so now we're looking for chicken breasts they come in

a go for this one and it's green fed

milk I'm running out of ketchup so I'm picking some of that up and right now I

need a salsa I think it's in this aisle oh my god there's the old couple again

so cute he's like we're gonna have to stop meeting like this

okay I'm looking for salsa and I cannot like where a salsa may be in this aisle

nice I said I'm like blanking out I'm pulling a Dory and they didn't have my

back bacon but I'm picking up the compliments bacon style turkey bacon

instead and these ones are 30 calories per slice and I think it's actually good

to switch it up for some reason it's so B's I find it hard to find the back

bacon here like every time I go look at that section I always like don't see it

they have a female style but they don't have the other one the back beginner I

need some eggs you guys because I want to make my breakfast burritos

I think I know where the salsa is now they're still looking for it

okay reforms offered

okay guys were all done I got a little bit of beef slices as well I found my

turkey sausages I got two packs so I can freeze one and then I got my chicken

breasts and everything else so we're all good to go

let's go check out and see what the damages this part I never to look

forward to

Oh

that lady every time she sees me go to the cashier I'm like I'm the camera lady

she starts laughing this weather you guys I haven't even mixed the gym yet

this weekend it's Wednesday I think this weather like does not want

you to live your best life it really doesn't it's like stay at home don't

feel like doing nothing no no you like

yes Ben but mommy's trying to vlog it just makes you like just not want to

like work out mama please please I am trying to film a vlog out of the kitchen

out of the kitchen you see how he tests you right there lady did you see that

you guys and I told him to stop sniffing my bags and he keeps Ben lien Aries

Aries I'm the boss not you okay I half us so y'all that's the older couple with

a gorgeous were so cute like they were living their best life like levied he's

so cute I kept running into them and it wasn't on purpose and I would go into

the aisle and he's like funny that we meet up again ever gonna keep seeing

each other like this oh my god just like he's just living his best life like just

amazing I just love what I see like those are couples like that cuz I'm like

wow like you guys made it this far right like wow and you guys can kill each

other that's all no but it's so cute to see like older couples like coffee shop

together I just think it's so cute so yeah I'm gonna unpack all of my

groceries with you guys I feel like I can finally cook up a ton of meals that

I've been wanted to cook up so the first thing I got was a couple of cuts of beef

over here as you come in the jus my black bean sort of Brazilian plate with

those ones I got my turkey sausages love these guys I'm gonna do my breakfast

hurry girls with these absolutely love them I do have a recipe on my channel

just replace the ground pork with turkey sausages or you can do ground pork God

my almond milk like an absolute must got some pineapple

I'm going to be chopping that guy up I'm a watermelon watermelon and pineapple

I'm just literally going to just force down because I need to just like really

take in my fruit you guys like I'm horrible with my fruit I'm honest like

healthy we love journey but I'm horrible with fruit I love vegetables so much

more then I got some sweet peppers these are also for my burritos some turkey

bacon instead of back bacon to kind of switch it up and chicken breast chicken

breast it's gonna be in the new recipes that I'm gonna be doing I think I'm

gonna do this new recipe and a new wedding in a day cuz I know you guys

love those I got some dark chocolate at the very end these Hershey's dark

chocolate chips are called so cute 70% cocoa

so it says per 15 pieces 70 calories of the poem so I'm just going to as like a

little snack I'm going to melt some of it into dips and strawberries funny

thing with strawberries you guys I have to tell you and I wonder if any of you

experienced this so let me know down below every time I have a strawberry my

stomach it like it inflates it bloat and I get like a pain in my stomach and I've

looked it up and when I looked it up it says that some people are allergic to

the actual seeds on the outside of the strawberry so funniest thing ever those

chocolate strawberries I showed you guys all the time from Dolce dipped she does

almost amazing a chocolate covered strawberries like my favorite favorite

favorite um but every time I have hers I don't know if it's because it's covered

in chocolate like these seeds are covered and the peanuts are covering it

what I eat hers I don't get a stomach ache I don't get it like every time the

this strawberry is covered by something like what chocolate or something I don't

get that stomach ache but if I have a strawberry by itself I get like hella

bloated and I instantly like it's not even it doesn't even take half an hour

or a couple minutes literally I will eat it and I get a tummy ache like it just

hurts my stomach always be like that ever since I was younger so I think I

have an intolerance to the actual seeds I don't think it's the actual strawberry

because I've I've had like ten of those covered strawberries so it's not

but but I think it's the see so if any of you guys experience kind of same

thing or you know what that is please let me know down below cuz I'm

interested in knowing then I got some organic eggs over here I am horrible at

checking into the eggs are cracked but definitely make that habit you guys when

you guys are buying eggs make sure none of them are cracked thankfully none of

mine are condemned stairs English muffins for breakfast sandwiches got

some green onion for my new recipe strawberries these ones are huge you

guys the organic one there were $7.99 per path and these are $4.99 I only try

to buy organic like when I can because it does get really expensive you guys I

only choose like certain things that I buy organic if the price is like kind of

fair on my favorite favorite tortillas the homestyle ones by Senora love these

ones and these were the only two that were left there these guys are always

like almost sold out and yeah these are for my burritos and also for my newer

recipe as well organic spinach like hell yes see this I will get because the

price is not that big of a difference but yet it's organic so I will buy

something like this so I got this salsa from them compliments miles the chunky

salsa last but not least ketchup we are like literally running out of ketchup

and I wanted the one that has this top instead of the like old-fashioned top

it's this top like the heck's wrong with this table looks a little bit what the

hell whatever better not leaked anyways so yeah I got some ketchup as well

that's basically it guys the fridge is packed now my shelf like I don't even

know where to put everything else my peppers are up there it's because a lot

of it like needs to get chopped for my recipes and all that so I am just going

to prepare that later on so I think I'm gonna head up to the gym right now I

have the time it's Wednesday I only have two more days left in the week and I am

busy on Friday so today and tomorrow's the only days I can actually go to the

gym so I'm going to make my way there I feel up to it I think especially when

you feel up to it like go and take the advantage and go to the gym and do it

and on the days where I don't feel like I really want to go I either

I either won't but make a promise to myself that I'll go

another day like I'll pick another day so don't ever like just settle and be

like yeah I'm not gonna go today or the rest of the week

you know you mean if you want my opinion in my recommendation I always say key

not today but you know what I'm gonna go Wednesday and Thursday

you know always make that promise to yourself and that's something that's a

goal that's something to look forward to when was I gonna say I just lost my

train of thought I hate when I pull a Tory moment oh yeah so when I don't

really feel like going I'll do like an at-home workout downstairs instead of

going actually going to the gym and I think of the day I know that I've

actually put some effort in instead of doing like absolutely zero that's also

another tip if you guys are looking for one so yeah I'm going to quickly get

changed and head over to the gym and then I have to come home and edit a

brand-new video for you guys so that it gets ready for this week so I'm gonna go

ahead and do that I hope you guys enjoyed this vlog if your grocery list

is kind of similar to mine or you guys are gonna pick up a couple items that I

showed you guys today make sure you guys leave a comment down below don't forget

to give this video a thumbs up and also subscribe to my channel thank you guys

so much for watching I love all of you guys and I will see you in next time

-------------------------------------------

Engineering 405: A Course in Problem Solving - Duration: 5:03.

FAVERO: Usually problems at the university or problems in the classroom, this class is

all about the real world.

FOGLER: Welcome to the final presentation of the students' projects in Chemical Engineering 405

FAVERO: Engineering 405 is a unique class where students come together with local business

to problem solve using critical thinking.

FOGLER: During the first two-thirds of the course, we talk and practice individually

a number of problem solving skills.

Then the students take these skills and go out and apply them to a local business.

FAVERO: What makes it unique is this combination of students, university and local business.

STUDENT: ...our client project for the term which was with Rappourt Brew & Chew...

STUDENT: ...we worked with Panera Bread, this is the actual picture of our restaurant...

STUDENT: ...we're going to discuss what we've been working on this semester with The Big Salad...

STUDENT: ...this is our final presentation for our problem solving strategies for the

Ann Arbor Distilling Company...

KAMINSKI: When I read that we were going to be teamed up with different clients to help

them solve actual problems that they're having, it was a huge draw for me.

FOGLER: After they were assigned a local business they would go incognito to the business to

try to find as many problems as they could.

STUDENT: We went once on a very busy Friday night.

We also went once on a slower day to see if there was a difference.

STUDENT: Throughout the day the main rush is the lunch rush, which makes sense.

STUDENT: There were kiosks there to help alleviate the problem of long lines, but that really

didn't help much because there were only one or two kiosks that were operating.

STUDENT: One thing we noticed right away as we initially drove past the building, we noticed

some visibility issues from the roadside.

FOGLER: The last part of the course is devoted to applying these problem solving techniques.

STUDENT: We created two surveys.

We actually used Professor Feinberg's surveys lecture, and this gave us a lot of great tips,

like open versus closed response questions and also using the Likert scale, just to get

a good spectrum of satisfaction for certain types of questions.

BENOIT: It's just really cool to see how going through the process of following these techniques

that have been developed by people and have been being used for years can be applied to

problems.

STUDENT: Over half of the customers that were surveyed don't even know that the downstairs

seating of Panera even exists.

STUDENT: Our perceived problem is how can Ann Arbor Distilling Company host events without

using the distilling area in its current state.

KAMINSKI: A lot of time you need to spend a little bit more time actually making sure

you're solving the correct issue.

STUDENT: We were not satisfied with this perceived problem and decided to employ a Duncker diagram

to help us identify the real problem.

The real problem is how can Ann Arbor Distilling Company increase its business in the tasting

area.

STUDENT: To generate some solutions to this problem, we used the TRIZ method.

A good characteristic was the efficient staffing.

A bad characteristic was that first-time customers are kind of confused by the ordering process.

NOYCE: I learned about how to solve problems in unique ways that I hadn't considered before.

STUDENT: Our main objective that we wanted to focus on was increase their customer base

which would in turn raise profits.

We narrowed it down to three problems: Small customer base, limited marketing and advertisement,

and little to no college campus exposure.

DAVIS: Even with like a situational analysis where you are comparing two things, can be

used for like, where I choose to work.

STUDENT: Our solution decision was to offer an annual program which customers can pay

$75 a year to be apart of.

KAMINSKI: I learned a lot about working with a group and problem solving, a lot about professionalism.

STUDENT: What we did implement was a new marketing strategy.

DAVIS: I really feel like I'm able to solve problems for real now.

I've even started sharing some stuff with my friends.

STUDENT: We also decreased the confusion with ordering by using the punch cards and the

order, sit and enjoy.

NOYCE: The beautiful thing about a lot of the skills we learned in this class is that

we can use them for a large variety of situations.

I've honestly started to apply it already in my own life.

STUDENT: We put the seating sign just to the right of the beverage station.

BENOIT: It's just going to help me think a little bit more creatively, instead of just

getting set on one path.

FAVERO: Why is it important to problem solve?

Why is it important to troubleshoot?

Because things don't work perfectly.

Problems will arise.

BUSINESS OWNER: I really liked the punch cards that you guys mentioned.

One thing that you could've done is maybe put something with food...

VLAZNY: I learned that there's always solutions to problems that I have that I haven't thought of.

PATEL: My group of students, they really taught me to understand some of the basics that,

what customers were looking for.

FAVERO: The evaluation that you get and the feedback you get from managers and from clients

is far different from what you would get from the academic setup.

GUEST JUDGE: I think all the four presentations were very well done, but as always in contests

thereabout, someone's got to finish first.

BRITTON: Even the tiniest things could make an impact in your business.

GUEST JUDGE: Congratulations to Distill and Chill.

BRITTON: We will most definitely be implementing all of the solutions that my team came up with.

GUEST JUDGE: Good job.
