From barely involved to the bench for the final? – Ben Woodburn's breakthrough opportunity

It has been a season of patience and learning for Ben Woodburn, but the talented teenager could end up playing a role for the Reds in the biggest game of all.

A Liverpool goalscorer at 17, an international player the same year.

Woodburns rise was fast and impressive, but this year has been one of having to bide his time.

For the majority of the campaign, Woodburn has featured for the U23s and Steven Gerrards U19s in the UEFA Youth League.

In the latter competition, he skippered the Reds through to the quarter-finals, scoring twice along the way.

But now there is likely to be a step-up, a recall to Jurgen Klopps first team and a fight for a spot in the squad if Liverpool make the Champions League final itself.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlains injury, allied to Emre Cans ongoing absence, means there are just three fit central midfielders available for the seniors.

Waiting game.

For a young player trying to make the breakthrough, being in the squad and then not being in the squad can feel like a backward step.

It doesnt have to be at all, of course; situations can demand the inclusion of a player for a period of weeks, before he reverts back to his planned progress with the younger players.

Alternately, as is Woodburns case, regularly training with seniors is as important as getting competitive first-team minutes.

He was on the bench at the Etihad recently for the second leg of the quarter-finals, and has been an unused sub three times in the league this season.

His only appearance, though, came in the EFL Cup defeat at Leicester.

Further first-team football was a possibility in January, with Championship clubs including Sunderland interested in a loan, but that didnt pan out either.

It was Klopps decision to keep Woodburn around, and his choice looks set to be vindicated.

Klopps decisions.

The boss was, early on, quite vocal about not wanting all the young hopefuls at the club to go out on loan.

He wanted to cultivate a spirit, show them his way of playing, have them available for first-team efforts when required.

That view has certainly been relaxed somewhat, with the Reds seeing over a dozen players out on temporary deals this term, but theres still a group in place to call upon.

A loan has to be a thought-out move, not a send them anywhere to play manoeuvre.

Some will work out, others will not.

The contrasting fortunes in Englands second tier for Harry Wilson and Ryan Kent attest to that.

But for others, being the next in line as available youth prospects is an exciting, and potentially rewarding, place to be.

Conor Masterson would likely not have been on the lips of fans to feature in squads this season, yet has done.

Curtis Jones is another, and he could go directly up against Woodburn for a single place.

Seizing the moment.

Klopp has repeatedly spoken about promoting young players: Its not about giving them the chance, but that they have to be ready to take the chance when its there.

The emphasis, clearly, is on the players to prove they merit further involvement, just as it should be for senior players.

Now is Woodburns chance.

Whether it comes against Stoke or in Rome, or even afterward, whether from the bench or the start, in midfield or as a forward, he has to be ready.

A performance, aggressive and impressive and technically suited to the level the first team are at, will not be ignored.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best proof of that; hes earned his place and hes kept it.

Woodburn has already shown he can show flashes of real brilliance, already highlighted his traits and ability to learn.

With signings expected over summer in both midfield and attacking lines, this is a pivotal moment for him: will be be called upon more frequently next term, or have to again face a development phase of patience and progress?.

Either way, Woodburn looks capable of having a big future with Liverpool.

But the final weeks of this campaign could push forward when that future really takes off.

3 solutions as Jurgen Klopp plans to "get creative" with midfield vs. Stoke City

With Jurgen Klopp resolved to get creative as his midfield options dwindle ahead of Liverpools clash with Stoke City, where should he turn?.

The Reds produced another stunning blitz at Anfield on their way to a 5-2 victory over Roma on Tuesday night, but at the cost of an on-field casualty in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

With Aleksandar Kolarov surging up the left flank for the visitors, Liverpools No.

21 tracked back and dispossessed the wing-back with a brilliant lunging challenge.

Unfortunately, the aftermath left Oxlade-Chamberlain needing a stretcher off the field, and it has now been confirmed he will miss the rest of the season – and the World Cup.

Already without both Emre Can and Adam Lallana, this leaves Klopp with just three senior midfielders: Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum.

The squad doesnt get bigger at the moment so we need to be creative in the next few games, he told BT Sport, as Liverpool prepare for the visit of Stoke on Saturday.

With next weeks trip to Rome in mind, how can Klopp set his side up for victory over the Potters while maintaining freshness?.

Here are three options for Liverpool as they bid for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

The Back Three.

Heading into the weekend three points ahead of fourth-placed Tottenham and eight ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea, having played a game more than both, the Reds still need to get the job done in the league.

Klopp made five changes for last weekends trip to West Brom and it showed, particularly in attack as Danny Ings struggled despite finding the net.

If the manager opts to field a stronger side against Stoke he may wish to retain his key names, but the need to preserve his first-choice midfielders is still clear.

One option to facilitate this approach would be shifting formation, and implementing a three-man defensive line would be a strong solution.

In Ragnar Klavan, Joe Gomez, Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno, Klopp has backup defenders capable of holding firm against a Potters side who have scored the fourth-fewest goals in the English top flight this season.

Having Klavan and Gomez flanking Virgil van Dijk at the back, with Clyne and Moreno operating as wing-backs alongside Henderson and Wijnaldum, would give Liverpool a strong base to build.

This would at least allow Klopp to rest Milner, whose tireless approach will be crucial in Rome.

Woodburns Chance.

Though the back three proved successful in Decembers 5-1 win at Brighton, Klopp may wish to aim for consistency in his selection for this crucial run.

If that is the case, and the 4-3-3 formation remains, the German at least has another promising option to rotate into his midfield unit without serving as a major gamble.

Ben Woodburn has made just one 44-minute appearance for the first team this season, but after a spell out through illness and injury the Wales international is back fit and available for selection.

Klopp has taken a patient approach to Woodburns development this season, and he has largely turned out for the U23s or the U19s in the UEFA Youth League, but his inclusion could be required now.

Though able to operate in a variety of roles across the forward line, Woodburns future is arguably as a No.

8, balancing his relative lack of pace with an intelligence and supreme creativity.

Fielding him alongside the experienced pairing of Henderson and Milner would give Woodburn the platform to prove himself ahead of a possible long-term breakthrough next season.

Faith in Youth.

Klopps assertion that Liverpool need to get creative in light of injuries does imply a measure of risk in his selection.

Since February, the manager has drafted youngsters Curtis Jones and Rafa Camacho into training on a regular basis, while losing Matip, Can and Lallana has led him to draw upon the academy further.

Conor Masterson has remained a staple part of sessions since Matips season-ending thigh injury, while Nat Phillips, Adam Lewis, Herbie Kane and Liam Millar have all been included at stages too.

Though he has previously indicated that he wouldnt throw these youth talents in at the deep end, a busy treatment room and shifting priorities could prompt Klopp to take a chance.

Kane, Lewis and Jones have all thrived in midfield for the U23s at stages this season, and similar to Woodburn they could be called upon against Stoke.

Jones, a 17-year-old Scouse prodigy who will become a regular under Klopp in the coming years, could be the prime candidate, having already made the step up from the U18s with no struggle this season.

But in Lewis (18), another local lad, and Kane (19) he has a more combative duo, providing him with a variety of young players who would be desperate to prove themselves and earn a long-term role.

hi Guys and welcome back.You're probably wondering why I'm sitting here on a roof. that is a completely different topic

I am increasingly asked how I operate my air lifts, so here is a video about my air compressor.

Here I have the Resun LP 60 a classic diaphragm pump with quite acceptable values.

I'll tell you in advance, even if the pump is called LOW NOISE, it's definitely too loud for use in the apartment.

That's why the pump is in a soundproof box. You find the video in the info box

Under the top cover sits the filter fleece, looks even after a year quite passable, because it is in an enclosed box

I noticed no pressure loss visually during the time.

In my system are about 13 customers - sometimes more sometimes less - which are supplied via eight hoses with air.

For my systems, this pump is very oversized and runs trouble-free under high load for over a year.

With the pump came this 14 plastic air distributor with connecting hose and metal clips, for my purposes rather unsuitable

Incidentally RESUN is a Chinese company established since 1989 and has specialized in aquarium and pond products. The company owns over 200 patents worldwide, so it is not a No Name Company

The standard distributor, I have replaced by an adjustable 18 metal distributor, all the information you can see of course in the description

And also the outlet here I have modified with new hose and cable ties

The ambient temperature should be between -10 ° C and + 40 ° C. The humidity should not be higher than 90%.

The membrane should be changed after 3 years at the latest The LP-60 has a thermal circuit breaker in the solenoid coils that protects against overheating

I have at each outlet about 6 to 8 meters of hose. Together with the adjustable air diffuser that increases the back pressure for the pump enormously and we look at what the diagram says

At 200mbar back pressure (2 meter immersion depth), the pump should emit 60 l / min.

Depending on how high the total back pressure is, the power consumption of the pump also changes

you see this again on the label

With no back pressure, the pump needs the full 50 watts for 70 L/min (4200L/h) 0.037Mpa corresponds to an max immersion depth of 3.50 meters

The higher the back pressure, the lower the output and also the power consumption. If the pump draws full 50 watts you pay at average electricity price about 120 euros a year.

I have banished in my system all large and small pumps and operate my waterfalls, terrariums and paludariums exclusively with air through the air compressor

In conclusion, we can say: My LP-60 runs even after more than a year without pressure loss every day 24 hours / 7 days a week

The pump is not quiet and without soundproofing rather unsuitable for living spaces. Power consumption and air emissions are standard and replacement membranes are available

With a price of currently just over 100 euros you get a classic standard diaphragm pump in aluminum housing
