Fiona: They're adding more interest to the chorus with all the above vocals. Keeping it fresh, very nice. Lindsey: Ooh, yeah, those vocal harmonies in that last chord were like, mmm. (F: Mmm.)
Umu: Yeah, so what did you think about that song overall musically, and how it matched the choreography?
F: I think the choreography, like especially because a lot of their movements were like [Fast] or like [Quick], and a lot of their singing was, you know, (L: That was so good.)
F: Fast movements. [Sings] L: Yeah they did a lot of, they did a lot of -
L: Jumping in stuff. Jumping and like, bumping into each other. F: They just match. Yeah!
L: And that like, kind of signified some time soon there would be like a change in like, "Oh, now we're going to the pre-chorus", like [BAM]
L: Now we're going to the chorus. [BAM] F: Yeah~
F: That's cute. L: Yeah, that was kinda cool.
L: And then also like - F: Upward motion with upward voice.
L: Yeah, I just, I just am in love.
Jarod: I mean like, this title is like Giddy Up and you have like super energetic choreography.
J: Like super energetic lyrics, and just like super intric-. Like the other guitar thing in the beginning? Awesome.
J: It's like downbeat, downbeat, downbeat.
J: It's just like the, whatever like, the kind of like offbeats it's like ground, ground, ground,
J: Dance around, grab your little pony, and -
J: - That's a giddy up, you know. Just like -
J: It's just like really awesome because it's like, you know, syncopation is -
J: They should really call it the Sick-o-pation, because it's like, sick.
Katie: Um, yeah, I thought it was really bouncy and like energetic. I liked the music video and the like, pinball theme that was going on because it was very playful.
K: Um, I like the the rhythm and the Minor IV, that was tasteful.
K: Um, it was really just a groove, yeah.
Elizabeth: I really like this one.
Henry: Yeah, it was really good. E: I would listen to that on my own.
E: There are definitely - There are some cool little elements in there. (H: It was cool.)
E: That, like surprise major chord, oh. Man, I love modal mixture.
E: You know, it's lovely when you're in a minor key and then suddenly you just feel happy for no reason.
E: But, you know.
H: It starts as a minor progression and it starts on I, and then it moves and then it lands on Major I.
H: And you're like "Nice!", and then it goes like a minor I and you're like "Whoa". So that's really fun.
H: So I liked that they did that.
H: I liked the, I liked the rhythm guitar.
H: I wish they could've had a real bass player and it would've been dope.
H: I thought that the synths didn't overbear. I thought that it kind of added to -
H: I thought I was like the perfect - it struck the perfect balance between -
H: Serving harmony, and also serving the character of the kind of video game-y thing.
H: I - I don't know. I thought it was really well constructed.
H: Which is saying that I really appreciate it, so.
H: Dope.
Isaac: I really like how, um, each of the verses, they utilize -
I: Chords that curtain like pickups. Like pick up, like pick up and downbeats, like [Sings chords]
I: And then you would have like these sprinkles of like 8-bit sounds like [Sound effects]
I: Ascending-descending, we're just like, outlining what, I guess triads? Or like - Again, ascending-descending motion. Of course this is great.
I: I think this is so uplifting.
I: And also I like the fact that they put the stages, whenever there's a new verse.
I: In a way, it kind of just like, it just mends really well with the theme of it. Like the video game theme.
I: Kind of really mends well with the whole structure of the music.
I: Rap was very well put. I like it.
Kevin: I mean, I call it a complex groove.
K: When all the instruments are working together, playing their own syncopations, and the experience you get is just - it just makes you want to get funky, you know?
K: Few songs do it this well in K-Pop, or in other pop.
K: There's some real sound engineer and composition geniuses behind the song.
K: The Architect is indeed a master of building musical structures.
I: I have to - wait, this also like, I have to really appreciate the dance.
I: That goes with it - Cause like, the way they like, the act that -
I: The way they signal things, like they would actually - I don't know.
I: It felt like they were like, pulling the harmonies too. Like the - I thought it was really nicely coordinated.
I: It's like [Sings]
I: It's like "Oh, cool".
I: So I kind of like, in a way like, the connection between dance, visual, and also the audio aspect.
I: Like they connected to each other, so that it creates the symbiotic relationship, where you can tell like there's something being pulled up.
I: So if you're not - if you're listening you'd hear it, but then you visually would like, "Oh it's connected with the listening, that's great".
I: So it's like, it's great.
I: I really like when different mediums of arts combine together to create, to highlight the importances of what they want to do is, I think it's cool.
K: This is also the happiest song ever to feature no Major IV chords, but all minor IV chords.
K: I don't know ow they do it, but they did it.
