Youtube daily report Apr 8 2018

I will not use this servo

Also will not use this motor

And this mount

I will not use this grease

And will not use this leaf springs

I will use My design (link in description)

I will only use this for My leaf springs

I will use My dual N20 motors design

Motors are 160RPM and 6v

I will also use My servo holder design

I will also replace drive shafts to metal

It's not that easy

Not needed parts

I will replace this with real bearings

Size of that plastic bearings is 3x6x2mm

I will put 3x6x2,5mm because it's cheaper :)

And there is small space so it should fit

This tires are to soft

I will put foams inside and glue tires to rims

Got two damaged ones

Now to remove this plastic parts

I will use this plate from My gear puller

And this 1,5mm steel rod (1,5mm drill should work also)

And just hit that with hammer

lets start

Ups :D

One ready

You will need 6 bearings for one axle

You need to drill small hole with same drill (1,5mm)

yes I did that here to test it

And same technique :)

And ready

there are 2 bearings here that's why You need 6 for one axle

And another one

Just drill in center

It will fall inside

It's hard to do it on camera

Now the hard part

DON"T MARK THAT LIKE I DID HERE !!

Yes, I cut My finger !!

Use nail and hamer to mark drilling spot

Not in hand !!

And drill it with 1,5mm drill

And take it off like others

Yes, I did not do that on camera :D

No, it will not be that easy :D :D

And all ready for upgrade :)

I will put it together in case they are not same

And that's all for now :)

【MMD】「ライアーダンス / Liar Dance」【闇音レンリ】 - Duration: 3:36.

Stolen? Just whatever do you mean?

Feigning ignorance today as well

Having made a vow, to you and you alone

Declaring this loveless love of mine in front of you

Stolen? Just whatever do you mean?

Committing myself this performance, set lines and all

Those memories we've so desperately created and clung to

They blend together and feelings between us intensify

Blabbering on about stuff, could you shut up for a bit?

Because everything is starting to look like a lie

Is there anywhere left for you to run?

Yes, I've realised that we're both guilty here

1,2•••1,2,3

Dance away, you liar

This love has swelled up like a balloon

Let's turn it into a lie with the prick of a needle

Let's do it! On the count of, 'I-Love-You'

Just let it soak in, you liar

This love that's grown so weak

Go ahead and drain the cup till there's nothing left

For no matter where we go,

There's no fixing this

Stolen? Just whatever do you mean?

Feigning ignorance for another day

Having hidden it away so no one can touch it

A thirsty dance, craving that carbonated melody

"Damn it! You figured it...wait, whatever are you talking about?"

Screwing up time and again is no reason to drop the act

Having fallen into this bottomless swamp,

will you even realize you're drowning?

Everyone and their brother is laughing at you

Even I've become unable to see you as anything but a lie

But somehow I still have these feelings for you

Yes, I've realized that we're both guilty here

1,2•••1,2,3

You've danced the dance, liar

It's too late to apologize

We're already partners in this crime called 'love'

Who cares if there's no going back?

It's swallowed you up completely, hasn't it? You liar

Turn my inside-out and I look just like you

It's nice to meet you, "crime" and "punishment"

Whatever you try and say

It's already gone off the rails

Dance away, you liar

This love has swelled up like a balloon

Let's turn it into a lie with the prick of a needle

Let's do it! On the count of, 'I-Love-You'

Just let it soak in, you liar

This love that's grown so weak

Go ahead and drain the cup till there's nothing left

For no matter where we go...

You've danced the dance, you liar

It's too late to apologize

We're already partners in this crime called "Love"

Who cares if there's no going back?

It's swallowed you up completely, hasn't it? You liar

Turn me inside-out and I look just like you

It's nice to meet you, "crime" and "punishment"

Whatever you try and say

It's already twisted beyond recognition

It's a bit scary

But the moon looks so beautiful, doesn't it?

See you again

Farewell

Slow down, you're running round town

And you're blood pressure's way too high

Angina, tremor, CHF

Heart attack, you think you're gonna die

Panic attack or migraine headache

Block those beta-1 receptors now

Okay, we gotta find a way to reduce automaticity

Block off those catecholamines

and control contractility

SA node wants to fire the AV

But we've got a way to slow it down

We start you with a low dose and keep climbing

One pill a day will fix your heartbeat's timing

As long as there's no asthma, block, or bradycardia

you'll be just fine

You'll say maybe

That's gonna be the drug that saves me

Cause after all

It's labetolol

But wait, we must anticipate all the side effects that go along

Heart failure, brand-new AV block, glycogenolysis going wrong

Hypoglycemic symptoms hidden, bronchospasm makes it hard to breathe

First generation hits the brain, you're sleepy

Third generation makes you weak and weepy

As for the second, when you stop it, your heart will speed back up on the rebound

But you'll say maybe

It's gonna be the drug that saves me

Cause after all

It's metoprolol

I said maybe

It's gonna be the drug that saves me

Cause after all

It's carvedilol

Free After Effects Template - Social Media Slideshow (along tutorial) - Duration: 29:16.

So, friends, as you do know at first you have to download this file from the link in the description.

Then post UNZIP you will get these two folders along AFTER EFFECTS project file.

I would like to request you prior to starting please through "Read at 1st" folder", where you can see two files would be in HTML & .png.

As you can see, I have requested you prior to doing any modification please go through this guided video tutorial to understand.

If possible please go through the below text,

where you can see this project file will cost you $18 - $20 in a marketplace,

but this custom-made project file is absolutely free for you.

So, if you do think, this slideshow will help you in your project;

also, if you can afford,

then you can donate me any amount by this PayPal link (in your own currency).

So, that will be very kind of you & that will help me for my living .

This is my PayPal donation link , or

if you do belong to India, you can also donate me any amount by "Paytm app" to this mentioned number.

So, let's get started.

So, here's the after effects file.

As you can see on the left-hand side there are many folders

followed by different colors, like yellow, cyan, pink & red.

This red one is our main composition.

You should touch these yellow color folders as these are not editable.

Cyan color folders are only editable.

Regard this pink color folder, I will describe afterward.

As you can see there are 6 layers in the main composition.

If you are new to After Effects, by watching this 1st time, might this tutorial could be tough to understand,

but practice will make you proficient. So, watch every step as many time you want.

You are always welcome to ask any question in the comment section.

*Here is the main composition, previously I was looking in different composition. :)

Out of these 6 layers, bottom two layers are our background layers.

Then 1st layer is our Channel Name.

Second one is upper text layer. Middle two layers are pre-comps.

Here is our layer "channel name", as you can see mine.

In order to edit channel name,

you need to double-click on the channel name layer,

then simply type your preferred name.

The font I have used is "Bebas Neue",

If you want this text font to use, I will put a link in the description.

You are allowed to choose your own font & own color.

The next layer is "upper text".

you can edit this layer as same as the channel name. The font I have used here, called "Optima", the link will be given in the description.

But you are always allowed to choose your own font & color.

Now let me show you the background layers.

Here are two pictures I have imported so I can show you how to change.

Select any picture you want to swipe with the background layer,

just drag & drop on the top of the layer.

Select the previous background layer, hit the "U" key from your keyboard to see the keyframes.

Now you have to to copy this capacity keyframes only.

To copy this keyframes, click on capacity > then press Ctrl + C (for windows) or Cmd + C (for mac).

Then slide your slider bar on the 1st keyframe,

select your imported picture layer, press Ctrl + V (for windows) or Cmd + V (for mac).

Now if you will hit "U" key on your keyboard

you can see keyframes has been aligned properly just like previous background layer.

Now we have to configure scaling.

As you see in base layer scale keyframe has started from 64 & goes up to 77 at the end.

Same way you need to align your slider bar on the top of the 1st scale keyframe (old background layer),

select your layer > hit "S" key on your keyboard >

click on the watch button to create a keyframe >

align slider bar with last scale keyframe of previous background layer >

increase scale accordingly.

Now select both keyframes,

press F9 / right click on that & select easy ease.

Let me delete this modified layer as of now.

Same way you can change this second background layer.

Now let's modify the "Instagram main comp".

Let me show you what you can change in this composition.

You can edit this profile/display picture.

Profile name, counts besides the post, followers & following,

bio/about & this gallery pictures.

These all are pre-composed in this composition.

Now let's see in this pre-comp.

As you see there are three pre-comps &

2 text layers are in this pre-composition.

Let's start with "1st DP" pre-comp.

Here's the "1st DP" composition.

In order to change the picture, just you need to drag & drop your preferred one

on the top of this current "DP" layer.

Now you have to adjust scaling & positioning for this picture.

To do so, hit "S" then "Shift + P" keys on your keyboard to see scale & position.

According to the previous layer adjust scale & position,

check through "Instagram main comp" if you have done it correctly.

If require, make additional changes & delete the previous layer from this "1st DP" pre-comp.

So, as of now I am deleting this modified layer.

Now next layer is "Posts",

here you can change this counting.

As you can see counting are changing with time

Let me inform you this bottom layer belongs to this "posts" counting,

the middle one is for "following" &

top layer is for "followers".

To change this following count,

select this middle layer, hit "U" key on your keyboard,

now you can see this "slider" along two keyframes in the timeline.

Now slide your slider on the 1st keyframe >

Select 1st keyframe >

Type any number you want to start from >

Again move your slider to the last keyframe >

Select this last keyframe >

Type your desire number beside slider.

Now as you can see it has changed.

Let me undo for now.

Same way you can change other two layers counting in this "Posts" pre-comp.

The next layer in this main comp. is profile name.

To edit this profile name simply double click on this layer,

Write any name you want.

You are always free to choose your preferred front & color.

But make sure name shouldn't cover this following text.

If name is lengthy decrease your font size.

Then "Bio",

Same way you can edit by double-clicking on it.

But make sure you have to complete your description within this two lines because,

there is a shape layer, so you can't write more than this two lines.

Still, if you want to add, you can decrease your font size or choose a different text font.

Then the last layer is "Gallery".

If you click on gallery,

The 1st layer you can see is a media placeholder named as "Media Holder Structure".

This media holder helps to stick all pictures at their place.

You can move all pictures together with help of this media holder.

I have created this media holder to make this part easy,

because instead of media holder if I will make multiple keyframes

for each & every picture, then the whole movement won't be smooth rather it will be distorted.

Prior to doing any modification, you must remember the position of this media holder,

else the whole animation will mess up.

Now, let's assume you want to change this picture.

At first, when you will click on this picture,

on the left-hand bottom, picture layer will automatically be highlighted, so you can recognize.

To view this picture properly adjust your media holder structure,

then drag & drop your picture on the top of that picture layer,

Hit "S" then "Shift + P" on your keyboard to view scale & position.

Adjust scale & position (according to your picture).

Here I am doing roughly to show you the process.

Now, this is looking good.

Let's deactivate the previous layer.

Now when you will move the holder, the new picture will remain at the same position,

because yet we haven't linked it to the parent layer.

So, as you can see every picture is linked to the parent layer,

You have to do the same for this new picture/layer

So, click on parent layer & select option 1.

Now it's moving with the holder.

Although it's a bit time-consuming.

But this way you have to change all pictures.

Though I can use other animation with a different style.

But this looks more realistic.

Now let me delete this new layer &

don't forget to leave placeholder positioning at 2000, 876.2

Now we have covered "Instagram Main Comp".

The last layer left on the main comp is "Instagram Mobile Slide".

When you check any Instagram picture through your mobile,

doesn't it look like this?

Now let me demonstrate what you change in this pre-comp.

1st: display/ profile picture, 2nd: profile name

(but don't forget to use the same text font used in "Instagram main comp".

Else it will look messy.

3rd: this main picture, 4th: likes count

& at last: picture title.

Now let's explore "Instagram Mobile Slide" comp.

Let me tell you, except this 2 background pictures in the "main comp"

there are no other background pictures has been used.

Why I didn't use any "BG", will demonstrate later on.

As you can see there are total 5 pre-comps. Let's look at 2nd pre-comp.

Same way you can change the "Likes Count".

Select the layer > hit "U" key from your keyboard >

align slider bar on the 1st keyframe >

select keyframe >

Set our own choice of number beside slider option >

same for end keyframe.

Then "Title".

To edit double click on the layer,

write whatever you want, chose your own front & color.

But make sure you must end within this white frame.

Next profile name. (make sure to use the same font you have chosen before).

4th display picture. But here all of these are 3D layers.

So, let me show you.

Drag & drop your preferred pic,

Open scale & position by hitting "S" then "Shift + P" on your keyboard.

Align picture properly,

if you want, deactivate this link beside the scale

& it's done.

Now you have to activate 3D,

but prior to doing that you must select the parent layer.

Here option number 13.

So, click on parent layer drop down, select parent layer.

Now drag your layer below "DP".

As you can see track mat option is activated for "DP" layer.

So, post deleting "DP" layer you must do the same for your layer.

Now click on "Toggle Switches", & activate 3D by clicking on this option.

Now everything is moving along background white layer.

This way you have to change rest of the layers.

Now let me cover the left topic, this pre-render.

This "Instagram Mobile slide" composition is kept in pre-render folder,

But why?

because of the mac/ pc/ laptop you are using it's not powerful enough

to render all layer together.

By the word powerful I mean minimum 4 to 6 core processor,

along 16 to 32gb ram with AE supported GPU.

Else, I would suggest you pre-render this mobile slide layer.

with transparent background.

If you don't know how to render with transparent background,

Select all layers, click on Composition, select option "Pre-render".

Let me delete the previously rendered file.

While rendering make sure you must render with a transparent background.

Select output, write desire file name, click on save.

In render settings, here are my settings. (I'm using a mac).

In output Module,

here are my settings.

This quick time player is free for mac & windows both.

Choose sound settings accordingly.

Then beside Output Mobile select this down arrow icon

& select "Lossless with Alpha",

then click on render.

So, If you are pre-rendering, then you must replace this

"Instagram Mobile Slide" comp. with your transparent background rendered file.

Let me demonstrate.

here is my rendered file,

place your rendered file on the top of mobile slide pre-comp layer.

Now we have to adjust the file length; same as the pre-composed layer.

To do so,

right click on your layer,

select time,

click on Enable Time Remapping.

Slide this last keyframe & now you can stretch this layer.

Manually adjust last keyframe to align both layers ending scene.

Now you must copy this capacity keyframes from this pre-comp

by hitting (Ctrl + C) / (Cmd + C)

& paste it accordingly on your new layer.

Now if you will hit the "U" key twice on your keyboard

by selecting your new layer, it will show all keyframes.

At last, you have to apply this shadow effect

which is already applied to this pre-comp layer.

To copy this effect, click on this arrow button beside pre-comp,

click on Effects, click on Drop Shadow.

Now you can see the drop shadow effects.

Simply select this two effects by hitting Ctrl/ Cmd,

copy by (Ctrl + C) / (Cmd + C),

click on your layer,

paste by hitting (Ctrl + V) / (Cmd + V).

Deactivate previous pre-comp (Instagram Mobile Slide).

Now it will render smoothly even if you are using a slower Pc/ Mac.

6 Accidental Discoveries You've Probably Never Heard Of - Duration: 10:23.

[♪ INTRO]

Accidental discoveries are a common theme in science.

The most famous is probably the discovery of penicillin, the world's first antibiotic.

It happened when Alexander Fleming noticed that the bacteria he was growing in Petri

dishes didn't seem to grow near mold.

Usually, we like to think of these findings as fluke events.

The reality, though, is that each discovery, even if triggered by a silly mistake or poor

lab practice, is actually the result of careful observation.

Someone had to make surprising connections to explain what they were seeing.

They didn't necessarily find the answer to whatever they were looking for, but they

did find something, and in many cases something much bigger.

So, here are 6 of our favorite times that scientists, totally by accident, but also

because they were clever enough to piece it all together, discovered some awesome things.

First up, an entirely new way to think about infection and sex drive.

Yeah, we're just jumping right in.

About five years ago, Canadian biologist Shelley Adamo was working on understanding whether

crickets' immune systems go haywire if the insects are stressed out by things like predators.

A student generously brought in their pet bearded dragon to serve as a very realistic

fear stimulus.

But unbeknownst to everyone, the lizard was carrying a deadly virus, at least deadly for

crickets.

So the insects were scared, but the real scare was to come.

Because a few weeks later, the crickets' insides had turned blue, and all of them were

dead.

Now, the normal reaction to this might be to just order some more insects, or find a

slightly less dangerous predator, and re-do the experiment.

But not Shelley Adamo.

She noticed that, before the crickets met their untimely demise, they were more interested

in sex than normal.

Which is just weird, because the typical response to an infection is to be sick, and not waste

energy trying to procreate.

Adamo was intrigued, and went on to document how the virus seemed to be working.

She saw that the virus increased its spread by making the insects more interested in mating.

That way, when the infected cricket's antennae touched its partner's mouth, something that

basically only happens during sex, the virus could get passed along.

In short, it's a cricket STD.

Or, as Adamo puts it, a parasitic aphrodisiac, which could be a great band name.

All this thanks to a bearded dragon that happened to be infected with a special cricket virus,

and a scientist who was in tune with the sexual activity of her crickets.

Next, a discovery based on a whole series of happy accidents.

Bob Ross would be proud.

In the early 2000s, physician-scientist George Liu was studying a certain kind of Streptococcus

bacteria known as type B. It's the version behind pneumonia, blood infections, and meningitis.

He wanted to figure out what made this kind of Strep so dangerous to people.

And to do that, he was specifically studying a certain toxin

that the bacteria uses to punch holes into host cells.

Liu was working with one strain of bacteria with the toxin,

which had a pigment that turned it a deep, rusty red,

and a mutant without it, which was a sort of bland white-ish color.

For a while, though, Liu wasn't making much progress.

Instead, he was struggling just to keep the bacteria alive, especially the mutant strain.

And you can't very well do experiments if you don't have stuff to work with!

Thankfully, he soon figured out why, by using his nose.

By chance, he smelled some residual bleach in the flasks he was using to grow the bacteria,

which explained the mass cell death.

Turns out that a labmate had kindly done the dishes,

but needed to be more vigilant about rinsing the bleach away.

Now, Liu's tests could have easily ended right there. Case closed.

But he was also curious why the bleach seemed more effective at killing the white mutant cells.

He thought that maybe it was because they didn't have any toxin in them.

And then came the second happy accident.

Around this same time, Liu's mom reminded him to eat his colorful veggies, as many moms do.

But that actually gave him a new idea.

The mutant cells couldn't produce any toxins,

but they also couldn't produce that reddish pigment.

So what if the toxin had nothing to do with it?

What if the pigment was protecting the bacteria instead?

See, part of the reason colorful vegetables are so good for you

is because they're chock full of antioxidants, molecules that protect cells from damage.

And those very molecules also give the foods their color.

So maybe the pigment in the regular cells was protecting them from the bleach.

But it wasn't clear why that would happen, either.

Eventually, all the pieces fell into place when Liu noticed

that the bleach used to clean the flasks contained the ingredient hypochlorite.

This is just the technical name for one type of bleach,

but Liu was used to seeing it in scientific papers.

He knew that, in your body, special white blood cells engulf bacteria

and then wipe them out by flooding them with hypochlorite.

After that, Liu went on to show that during an infection, strep uses its pigment,

which is a carotenoid, similar to what's in carrots and tomatoes, as a kind of shield.

This makes it harder for immune cells to destroy the bacteria.

And because the mutant Strep didn't have any pigment,

they weren't protected from the hypochlorite bleach.

So by making the most of three chance encounters,

Liu revealed a totally new reason why strep infections are so deadly.

And his mom probably earned some bragging rights, too.

Number 3: another serendipitous discovery in insects.

15 or so years ago, budding evolutionary biologist Liz Tibbetts

was investigating the complex social structures of certain paper wasps.

These are social wasps that make nests out of chewed up wood.

To draw conclusions about how the wasps interact, researchers in this line of work

dot the backs of the insects with different colors of model airplane paint.

With these labels, scientists can then put the whole colony together,

turn on a video camera, and track each insect as they go about their lives.

One day, Tibbetts was reviewing a movie and realized she'd messed up:

She had missed painting the backs of two of the wasps.

And at first, she was kinda bummed, since she figured she'd have to scrap the video and start all over.

But as she looked closer at the two paint-free wasps,

she saw that each one had distinct markings on their faces.

She could actually tell which one was which!

And if she could do that, well, maybe the wasps could, too.

Nobody thought insects could tell each other apart, least of all visually.

But once Tibbetts had the insight to ask whether it was there for a reason,

she started checking out more wasp faces and found a remarkable amount of diversity.

Some wasps had bright yellow eyebrows, while others had unique spots

or other stripes and shapes.

To find out whether all those markings meant anything to the insects,

she went ahead and gave some of them a makeover,

painting on different features with a toothpick.

And when she re-introduced the dolled up ones to the rest of the colony,

fellow wasps lashed out and attacked them, no longer seeing them as friends.

This showed not only that wasps were capable of recognizing faces,

but also that the skill was an important part of the social glue

that holds the colony together and helps it function.

OK, so you've probably heard at least a little about CRISPR-Cas9,

the genome-editing tool scientists have been going gaga over in recent years.

And we've definitely talked about it more than once here on SciShow.

It's basically a set of molecular scissors that we can precisely target to anywhere in DNA.

The system was originally found in bacteria as a way they fight off viruses.

But scientists are learning how to use it to modify DNA sequences in other organisms.

Including, potentially, us.

The Cas9 is the scissors part, it's the protein that does the cutting.

The thing is, though, it pretty much only cuts DNA,

so it doesn't work very well on RNA,

the intermediate molecule your body makes before creating proteins.

And that's kind of a bummer, because scientists would love to also be able to edit RNA.

If they could do it, they might be able to treat specific RNA-based diseases,

like a type of dementia, or fix things without touching the underlying DNA sequence.

Well, the good news is, scientists might have just found a breakthrough.

This year, a group of biological chemists at the University of Michigan

uncovered a new Cas9 protein that acts on RNA, and it was totally unintentional.

They were working in their usual model system, a specific bacteria that causes meningitis,

and were testing for the basic cutting ability of the protein.

For a control group, they had incubated the protein with RNA.

The whole point was that it wasn't supposed to touch the RNA, while it would cut the DNA.

But time after time, the RNA was being sliced and diced as well.

Eventually, the team realized what was happening,

and that they had a dual DNA and RNA cutter on their hands.

And other research teams are also beginning to report they've found similar things,

although whether those were also happy accidents remains to be seen.

This next fortuitous discovery is an oldie but a goodie: the invention of the implantable pacemaker.

In 1956, electrical engineer Wilson Greatbatch was trying to build a machine

that could record heart rhythms.

But in the course of putting the thing together, he put in the wrong transistor.

Transistors are circuitry components

that can turn the flow of electrons on or off, like a switch.

Greatbatch accidentally grabbed one that was too powerful for what he needed,

and it made the device pulse about once every second.

And he was stunned.

He recognized that the rhythm was the same as a heartbeat,

and that the electric pulse could probably be used to snap unruly hearts back into step.

Greatbatch then got to work trying to miniaturize his device

so it could fit inside a human body.

Two years later, he had a prototype working in a dog,

and then the first human patient got one in 1960.

Thanks to that chance discovery, they've been changing lives ever since.

And finally, a lab error that led to a more Earth-friendly plastic.

A few years ago, IBM chemist Jeannette Garcia was trying to make a new plastic

from three starter ingredients.

She was a little impatient and started heating two of the substances together

while she went over to the scale to measure out the third.

And when she returned, she found a white pellet attached to her flask.

She struggled to get it out, so much so that she had to use a hammer to shatter the glass.

Although weirdly, the new plastic wasn't hurt by the hammer.

Now, Garcia could have tossed everything out.

The intended experiment was a failure, and she had ruined some glassware.

She could've just chalked it up to her impatience and moved on.

But instead, she was intrigued by the unusual strength of this new material.

And additional experiments revealed the plastic to be not only super-strong, but also recyclable.

Which, in the world of plastics, is actually kind of a big thing.

Part of the deal with high-strength plastics, otherwise known as thermosets,

is that once they're made and molded into a shape, they're like that forever.

You can't melt them down to re-use them, which means you can't recycle them.

But Garcia found that if she dunked the new plastic in sulfuric acid, it could be re-used.

And the same research group found that a second plastic with the same type of chemistry

can also self-heal, re-forming bonds if it's cut.

So, so much for mise en place, I guess.

Garcia's lack of preparation turned out to be a boon,

and opened up a whole new world of recyclable plastics.

In each of these accidental discoveries, there was an element of chance.

If Garcia hadn't combined those two ingredients just so,

or Greatbatch hadn't pulled out the wrong transistor, nothing would have come of it.

And we wouldn't be talking about them today.

But what really ties them together is an openness to think about what's right in front of them,

to recognize something as being different, and interesting,

and potentially important, and to ask questions about it.

So, all you accidental discoverers-to-be out there, even when you make a mistake,

stay curious. And see where it takes you!

10 Different Man Bun Styles - Men's Long Hairstyles - Duration: 10:12.

- If you have a man bun, or you're in the process

of growing one, you are definitely in the right place,

because in this video I'm going to be showing you

10 different man bun variations

that you probably never knew existed.

(jazz fanfare)

Firstly, I'm Thomas, and welcome to my channel.

I make style and hair related videos every single week

and this is episode one of my man bun monthly series.

Now, I've decided to make this series because I've finally

grown my full man bun out and I'm so excited about it

and I thought bringing a series to you

about just how to maintain a man bun

and giving man bun inspiration would be

really good for you guys, seeing as I know

a lot of you are going for that.

This is just a new way for us to connect

and talk about something that we all relate to.

So if you are into that, make sure you subscribe

and look out for once a month because I'm gonna be posting

a lot of man bun content coming up.

In today's episode, we're gonna be talking

about the different man bun variations that there are.

Now, I picked 10 that I thought were pretty cool,

but there are seriously like so many variations

that you can go with, so I've narrowed it down

to 10 that I think are really funky

and I'm gonna share them with you.

You might be growing a man bun and what I want this to do

is just give you an idea of what man bun you could go for.

You might not have even made your decision yet and hopefully

this helps you get a little bit more clear on that, okay?

So for man bun number one we're gonna be talking

about the most generic one that we've probably all seen,

the man bun with the disconnected undercut.

This is the first man bun that I ever had.

I had this when I was living in Canada and yeah,

it was pretty much the first time I had ever

seen a man bun and it was trending online.

I did my first hair tutorial, was of the man bun

with an undercut and it served me really well.

I thought it was really slick, really awesome,

and I still see a lot of people getting it.

A lot of people in the Facebook group have got them.

This is pretty much the most common man bun

that we probably see.

It also can pass as a top knot, I guess, because well,

when I had mine, my hair was very thick on top,

so it's always looked like a bun,

but a man bun top knot, same deal.

And I think it's very iconic and it's still

very very popular, even three years later

after making my first video about it.

So that's man bun number one.

Man bun hairstyle number two is the full man bun;

that's me right now.

The full man bun is freakin awesome.

The reason I wanted to grow my full man bun in general

was just because I found with the disconnected

undercut man bun I just didn't have enough hair

and I was running out of hairstyles that I had.

So I thought, "You know what, it's time to get

"more hair going on and I'm gonna grow it all out."

And now I'm finally there and I've been playing around

with many, many different variations of it.

You've got, there's so many of the full man bun,

you've got the high, the normal, and the low,

but you've also got two variations of each of them.

You've got the high messy, the high neat.

You've got the medium messy, the medium neat.

And you've also got the low messy and the low neat.

All of which, I think, look really cool and really different

so I'm gonna be having a bit of B roll of that hanging over

the screen right now so you can actually see the variations.

But yeah, I think my favourite one

to wear is a messy high bun particularly

because it doesn't take that long to do.

It's literally just chucking your hair up

in a bun, nice and high, and I feel like

it suits my face shape the best.

The third man bun on the list is

the braided man bun with an undercut.

So this was a really really cool look that I got

my friend Taren to do on me about three years ago.

We filmed a video of it and it was actually a big hit.

I think on the same day, Lucanfirstgo posted

a man bun braid video as well.

It's just a really nifty, cool, hip-looking style.

And yeah, there was two variations of it,

there was the single braid that I would do

with the man bun and then I also did a couple of tutorials

about how to braid and then also how to do a double braid

with the undercut, which I also thought was really cool.

I'm gonna have B roll of these as well,

floating over the top so you can have

a nice good look at that.

But I think this hairstyle is really really iconic

and really cool and I loved having it when I had it.

Man bun variation number four.

So this one is still another man bun with an undercut.

I can see how these all look very similar,

but the actual looks themselves

look completely different, right?

So this one's called the diamond back undercut

with a man bun and I don't know if you guys remember,

but a little bit, probably about two years ago now,

I was like, "You know what,

"I'm gonna grow out this V shape in the back of my head."

I actually called it a duck bum when I was growing it out.

And a lot of you guys really really liked it.

And the reason I ended up going

and getting the duck bum or the V shape

at the back of my head, was because I found

with the disconnected undercut man bun, it just--

there was like this bulbous part of my head

that would stick out, and I really wasn't a fan of it.

And I was like, "How can I patch this up?"

And I thought, well, I've seen a couple of people

have the diamond shape; it probably came

a little bit further down the back of their head.

And I thought, maybe this is a good way

for me to get rid of that bulbous look.

Anyway, took me probably about four or five months

to grow it out so it could at least get into the bun,

but after I did it, it completely changed the man bun

undercut look for me and I really really liked it.

It took a little bit of working, as well, to get in.

Like I had to go to the hairdresser

and kind of explain what I wanted.

Then they'd have to cut it into shape;

I'd have to look at it.

And they we finally got it into

the right shape and then boom, we were off.

And obviously it's gone now because I've grown

all my hair out, but hey.

Alright, so for man bun number five on the list,

it's the high baller Jon Snow man bun.

So everybody knows what Jon Snow's hair looks like.

We actually have very very similar hair.

And yeah, I kind of really like this look, where it's like--

I think it's just called a high baller, I don't know.

It kind of looks like a bun with a mullet

at the same time, like a curly mullet.

But I don't really know why, but I'm really

really fond of the Jon Snow high baller.

And maybe it's because I like Jon Snow

as a character or maybe because we have the same hair,

I'm just really not sure.

I really like this hairstyle though

and I think it suits me quite well.

Man bun style number six, the lowered undercut man bun.

These are so confusing, all of these names.

But essentially what the lowered undercut man bun is,

is a disconnected undercut for a man bun

but brought right down.

So I spoke about this, I think in my first growing out

process check in, I kind of mentioned

that this is the hairstyle that I wanna go for

in the end, but as I've gotten--

I've mentioned this in a couple of other videos as well,

but as my hair's gotten longer, I've sort of gone,

"Ooh, I don't want to let go of it yet."

I still think this style is really cool.

I first started seeing it on Pinterest.

As soon as I repin one thing, it's like,

"Ooh, Tom likes all of that."

And they start showing me dozens and dozens and dozens

of the same thing and I'm like,

"Okay, this is a trend, I like it, I really do."

But yeah, I'm just not ready to have that haircut yet.

I think eventually I will be getting

the lower disconnected undercut man bun

but I just don't know when it'll be

and it's when I'm gonna disconnect from my hair, literally.

Man bun number seven is the cap man bun,

the exact one that I'm wearing today.

I always think it gives a new dimension to my face.

I don't only just wear it when I feel like

looking a little bit different, but this is actually

the hairdo I'll have when I go for a jog or something.

The sun beams down here in Australia

and wearing a cap with my man bun,

it actually keeps my face shielded

and I think it looks quite groovy, actually.

It just changes things up.

This is also a really good look as well

for when you're growing your hair out,

to try and avoid the awkward stage.

I remember I used to do this a lot

cause I could still poke my bun out of the back

but I would just bobby pin the short sides up so they would

stay out of the way and I didn't look too dorky.

But yeah, I really really like this one as well.

Now for man bun number eight.

So man bun number eight is the midway man bun.

This is one that I made up all by myself.

It looks very similar to the Jon Snow one

except it's straightened and it's for people

that are in the awkward stage.

So I found, when I was going through

the guts of the awkward stage, where it was like

Krusty the Klown, I'd be able to tie up this man bun

but I'd have these prongy-outy sides.

I was like, "What the hell am I gonna do with these?"

And I ended up giving it a straighten

and then I sort of got a load of bobby pins and I went,

"Okay, we're gonna make something out of this."

And I just kind of worked all the bobby pins in to,

I don't know, a nice formation.

And I ended up being really really happy with the hairstyle.

I've actually got a tutorial about it as well.

I'm gonna leave the tutorial up in the cards for you,

so you can go and check that out.

But this man bun is the best for any of you

that are probably midway through,

literally midway through your growing out process

and you want something to help it look a little less shabby.

Really helped me out; I kind of like--

after three inches, I started wearing the midway man bun

pretty much every single day, so really like that one.

And now for man bun number nine.

This one's a relatively new one that I've been starting

to wear since my sides have been longer.

I call it the double side braided man bun.

So this is where I will leave all the top hair on my head

like as a normal man bun but I'll braid the sides.

I don't know, I kind of, in my braiding experience,

I've only really been used to doing it on top of my head.

When you actually have to change the angle

and start braiding another part of your head,

it actually becomes a lot more complex.

But I really dig this look; I think it's cool.

And it's just one that I've made up recently,

so if any of you can braid, I would strongly suggest

you try it out as well.

And now for the final, can I get a drum roll? (drum roll)

Man bun number 10, it is the dreadlocked man bun.

Now, this style isn't gonna be very easy

for everybody to achieve, unless you have dreadlocks,

but it is one sick look; I really like it.

This was another one that popped up on Pinterest.

I saved it once and then all of a sudden

I'm just seeing dreadlocked man buns everywhere

and I think this look is very, very cool.

However, I don't know if I'm ever gonna be

having dreadlocks because I kind of like really nice,

soft feeling hair and having my curls.

But I do really dig this and actually,

anybody that has a dreadlock man bun

that might be watching this, if you could send me an email

with a picture of it, I'd love to feature it

in one of these videos, because I think this look

is one of a kind and really really cool.

And it's a variation that I didn't really think of.

I was kind of like, "Okay, you've got this man bun,

"this man bun, this man bun, that man bun,

"oh, a dreadlocked man bun!"

It just came out of nowhere and I was like,

"That is very, very cool."

And it definitely deserved to be on the list.

And guys, that is my 10 man bun hairstyles.

I hope I was able to show you some really cool

quirky ones that you hadn't seen before.

In the comment section below, let me know

what kind of man bun you're going for and which one

of these man buns was your favourite, okay?

I'd be really interested to know.

On top of that, that's pretty much all

I've really got for you this week.

If you're wanting to be a part of the Facebook group,

make sure you head to the description box below

and hit the subscribe button if you want

some more man bun monthly content,

Hurdler Liu Xiang's Historic Gold Display in Athens 2004 | Olympics on the Record - Duration: 5:39.

Home advantage can be a mixed blessing.

The support of the home crowd is welcome,

but the burden of expectation can be overwhelming.

And in Beijing 2008,

the entire Chinese nation was looking to one man for glory.

This man, Liu Xiang.

Few people will ever be able to understand the pressure

that Liu Xiang was under

to bring home gold at the Beijing Olympics.

His modest habits and unassuming manner

made him irresistible to big business,

desperate to be associated with an authentic Chinese hero.

In the build-up to the games, Liu was everywhere,

his image associated with everything

from sports brands to soft drinks.

His opening appearance on the track

brought the nation to a standstill.

China's 110 metre hurdle champ

was about to start his Olympic campaign.

TV audiences spiked.

But something didn't feel right.

There had been rumours about his fitness,

an old Achilles injury flaring up.

Liu was not himself.

A false start by Marcel van der Westen,

but no-one was looking at the Dutchman,

a nation turned its eye on Liu.

Did that just happen?

Did he just pull up before the first hurdle?

And then he walked off.

No restart, no heat, no Olympic final for Liu Xiang.

There was silence in the stadium.

TV audiences plunged.

The pain, the shock.

There were tears, dismay

and bitter, bitter disappointment.

Now, wait a moment. No-one died!

Beijing 2008 was a great success.

China won plenty of gold medals.

So why did the fortunes of just one athlete matter so much?

Why so much pressure on one man?

To answer that question,

you need to take a broader look

at the history of Chinese athletics.

While it is true that China has

been a heavyweight at the Olympic Games,

their success on the track has been limited.

The men's team had won just one medal,

Zhu Jianhua winning bronze in the high jump in 1984,

and nothing since.

Out of this emerged the young Liu Xiang.

He was inspired by Zhu to take up athletics and the high jump.

But at 6'2", Liu is on the short side for a high jumper.

So, instead, Liu drifted into the 110 metre hurdles,

new ground for a Chinese athlete.

And something else about the hurdles.

It's really hard.

It's really, really hard!

Young Liu devoted himself to the toughest,

most technically demanding discipline of them all.

There are so many elements to this craft,

so much to get right, so much to get wrong.

At 16 Liu was the schoolboy champion of China.

At 18 he broke the junior world record.

At 20, he won a bronze medal at the World Championship.

Going into the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens,

China finally had a genuine contender in track and field.

Here's heat 3. Out of the blocks.

Hernandez of Cuba has a big start

and Liu coming on now, he always finishes well.

Terrance Tremmel is coming with him. Can he keep up with Liu?

Liu easing up, he's qualified easily and so has Tremmel.

Liu, now 21, sailed through his heats,

his exceptional technique

seeing him safely into the final.

Olympic record holder Allen Johnson

would not be joining him

after coming unstuck.

The 110m hurdles, an obstacle course with spikes.

Liu had a real chance of a medal.

Chinese fans in their millions

got up in the early hours to watch.

A nation dared to dream.

And they're off.

Allen, a great start in lane 1.

Tremmel from the USA in lane 6 is moving well too.

But here comes Liu, he's being pushed

by the Frenchman, Doucoure,

but this is really fast. He's pulling away now,

and Liu is in.

That's gold for China and a new Olympic record!

Just off the world mark.

The first Chinese male athlete in history

to win gold in track and field.

Liu would remain in the headlines

as the country prepared

for Beijing 2008, Liu's home Olympic Games.

In 2006, he set a new world record of 12.88.

In 2007, he won the World Championship,

another first for China and Liu.

He was all set to defend his Olympic gold medal

in his hometown in 2008.

As we know, it didn't work out

Let's not go over all that again

because "to understand is to forgive".

But for everything he's done for Chinese sport,

Liu Xiang doesn't deserve forgiveness,

he deserves thanks.

Why Do I feel Hurt By Others? Can I Live Without Hurt? - Duration: 14:06.

Hello everyone.

So today I'd like to talk about the question, "Why do we feel hurt by others?"

Now I feel that this is very very complex to go into because we can either talk about

this using our own ideas trying to overcome our hurt with tips or tricks or techniques

or we can look at and stay with this hurt in order to see it unveil itself and see all

the implications and everything that goes on when we feel hurt.

And therefore, by really seeing what is involved in being hurt at its deepest core, like psychologically,

then that very seeing is understanding and it's immediately... the whole problem is solved.

So that is what I want us to go into together, is to go into the core, which is the psychological

aspect and really see what's going on.

So this implies that each of us not only, just me talking, but each of us individually

has to look for ourselves what I'm talking about in this video because what I say maybe

turned into just, blah.

Just some ideas that have no meaning at all.

So why do we feel hurt?

What is the reason for my feeling sad, angry, upset or afraid?

Now is it because I have an idea about myself?

Now why do I have this idea about myself?

Is it because when I look around me, I see that other people are looking out for themselves,

are concerned for themselves, their own improvement, their own gain, their own success?

And as a young child growing up, coming out into the world, I'm innocent, being born,

but you know as I get into the groove of things and I look at how my parents are, how my friends

and other family members are, I begin to see that everyone is concerned for themselves.

And they help me to see that I am also an individual who must be concerned for myself,

my safety, my comfort.

What am I going to be doing for a livelihood when I get older or what will I do to survive?

What will I be to impress others, to impress a nice lady and marry and have children and

just have all these fabulous ideas of a future happy life?

So this being the culture that we live in, we look at each other and say, okay, well

that person is doing this sort of thing right?

That person is making a lot of YouTube videos, that person is dressing in a nice business

suit, that person is telling me all these tips and tricks through his videos.

So I want to imitate that person because I see that hey, you know, he has a big following,

a lot of subscribers, they're all just commenting, praising him.

So I say I want that.

So I see that and the very seeing of this person...

I record that person, I have an idea about him that I try to pursue and become... or

this gets very complex... or I don't need to try and become that image, I can also just

say that I'm that image.

I can repeat it repeat it over and over again and feel that I am this.

I have a sense of being this really big important person.

So I have this image and then someone comes and they intervene between me and my own personal

pursuits and they say, hey, you know, you're very contradicting.

You're wrong about this, this and this, so you're full of crap.

So now I'm either trying to become this great, intelligent man or I already think that I'm

this great intelligent man and then you say these words to me and... what happens?

What goes on when I hear these words and I register it in my brain?

So you call me crap.

So now I feel this kind of resistance.

I don't like you because you disturbed my idea of myself.

You disturb me.

So therefore, I try to avoid you.

I fear you.

I don't want you around me.

I go off I isolate myself into my own particular area and I then try to surround myself with

positive people or people who support me, who encourage me, who lift me up, right?

So therefore, when we are hurt, we try to escape that hurt, you know, we try to find

some encouragement, we try to go away.

However, that hurt is still there, it doesn't dissolve the hurt, it doesn't eliminate it.

So that's what I want us to explore together, is how can we dissolve this hurt completely?

Not try to just ignore it, run away, do something else, occupy our time with movies or something

else.

Find motivation, motivating speakers and then only to just... then again, get hurt and start

the cycle over again.

So to completely be free of this hurt would be to completely be free of ideas about ourselves

right?

Not free from an idea of our self as in being nothing or nobody, because what happens when

we do that?

We say I want to be free of ideas about myself because once I have an idea about myself,

I am open to getting hurt.

I'm vulnerable.

So therefore, I will not have any idea about myself.

I will be nobody.

Immediately though, when we say that I won't have an idea about myself, I won't live

with ideas about myself, then I feel that I'm nobody.

I feel that I'm nothing, which is now an idea about myself.

We may call it nobody or nothing, but that is still an idea.

So ideas, thought, is very complex because it takes different forms.

So therefore, are we seeing this?

Not only intellectually, like okay, yeah, I see that I'm making another idea if I say

I'm not having ideas.

Not only seeing that intellectually, but seeing it as a real fact.

Like right now I'm looking at this window and it is real it is actually there.

So therefore, the window is there and if I want to go out outside of the window I can,

I just open and I just go out.

Action is immediate.

It's there, it's real, but if I don't see this idea as like a real fact, what's all

implied in having an idea about myself…

If I don't see that as an actual real fact, then there's not any real action is there?

There's just kind of contemplation... like... well... maybe... what if the idea?... or this

and that... or I try to reason it out.

So instead I'm just thinking about it all the time instead of there any being real action,

right?

So therefore, are we seeing that we do have an image about ourselves and that…

What are we if this image is not there?

I have this image that I'm this successful businessman and I'm dressed up in my business

suit and I go to my conventions and I speak very proudly, I give you tips and tricks and

all that, but then once all that is over and I put on regular pajamas and I'm getting ready

for bed, I'm just like everyone else, in pajamas.

So that image is not who we are, that idea that I'm a businessman is not me, because

what I really am is shifting from being in my pajamas, a sleeper.

I'm shifting from being a father, putting on normal, fatherly clothes...

I don't know what kind of clothes fathers wear or generally and doing different things...

we identify ourselves based off of how we look or the activities that we engage in and

we have so many images about ourselves that we try to make one permanent and therefore,

we resist other images, right?

So it's very complex, but like I said... in this video I want us to discuss together

over these things and try and see all the implications, all the complexities that are

involved in this.

So that we can find out for ourselves, not just be lazy and look for a quick tip or quick,

helpful idea and answer that will just magically solve all this because that doesn't solve

all of it.

It only invents another idea, which becomes another problem.

So to really find out how we can live free of this hurt, of this thing called hurt and

pain.

We've got to go into the psychological, the core of all of this, because we've been trying

to solve it through going to teachers, gurus, spiritual people and that doesn't fix it completely.

So that's all I wanted to talk about in this video and I'll see you all next time, bye.
